What? A Belgian restaurant in New Haven? Well, sort of. The nice owner is from Brussels. The cook is French. So the menu is more French-Italian than Belgian. We found out though you might able to order carbonnade flamande or vol au vent off menu. Duck confit was good, but American style peppery spicy. Frites good. Chocolate mousse made with Callebaut Belgian chocolate bits. So, somewhat Belgian, but mostly adjusted to meet the American concept of francophone foods. Very sympathique service. Unpretentious.

Great happy hour near Yale Campus. Oysters were delicious! Nice upscale bar. Loved the relaxing music they play in the background. Nice touch. Great service!

My date and I were in downtown New Haven on a Friday night and decided to stop at Florian for a drink and small bite to eat. It was cute inside, but since it was a nice night, we decided to sit outside on their little patio. I ordered a lavender martini which was very tasty and my date ordered a maple bourbon old fashioned which also was very good. We ordered the crab cake and the mariniere moules frites (mussels, Belgium fries in a garlicky broth). The crab cake was decent, but the mussels and the Belgium fries with the lemon aioli were plentiful and delicious. We were served by Kevin who made us feel very welcomed and had lots of enthusiasm. We also were served by Trinity who was amazing, answered all of our questions and she is the reason why we will definitely be returning! It was a great first experience and would definitely recommend checking out!

Atelier Florian will always have a special place in my heart so perhaps this review is slightly biased. I first came here in 2016 and had a really great time. I went back in 2017 and 2018 but that was the last time, until today for brunch. My friend made a 12pm reservation but we got there at about 12:11pm and we were seated with no issues. The host grabbed us some still water and our waitress came over. She was very polite and patient as we sifted through the menu. I grabbed the Avocado Benedict and a peach mimosa. They have several flavors for the mimosa, you just have to ask for it. Our food came out within 12 minutes but they actually gave me the wrong order. The server immediately noticed and rectified it. The flavor was quite bland to be honest but the impeccable service made up for it.

The service was nice. The food was good. We had a taste for oyster so we decided to check this place out. We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The server asked us if we wanted sparking or regular water for the table. We ordered oysters, a pepper appetizer and some fries. The ambiance was nice they had soft music playing in the back ground. And it was nice inside

We had some time to kill before a dinner reservation and we decided to check out their social hour. Our servers name was Kevin and he was amazing. Super attentive, super personable and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was happy hour, we ordered the two dollar oysters and had a couple drinks. We also ordered the fries with the special sauce. the sauce was He made our visit extra ordinary and we would definitely come back again!!!

My family and I were traveling from Philadelphia to Maine for our annual ski trip and found this gem in the heart of the Yale Campus in New Haven. Since it was Christmas break, it was absolutely dead since all the college kids were back home for the holidays. This place is a French Bistro style restaurant with high quality ingredients and a small, well executed menu. A little pricey for a lunch spot but all the food was really good. Our waiter K was attentive and extremely kind. He was playful with my kids and gave them a piece of candy after they ate their lunch. The clam chowder was absolutely delicious, fried calamari was Ok. I would recommend the arancini, and the Croque monsieur. Only reason for not 5 stars, I think for the price, the food should've been more elevated than what we got. The decor and atmosphere what excellent however!

This is a hidden !! Not sure how there are any negative reviews. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The clam chowder was a little "thin" but everything else was amazing.

The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We ordered some appetizers: tuna tartare, grilled shishito peppers, ceviche, and arincini balls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The strawberry Sunrise cocktail I got was delectable Fresh strawberry puree with high end tequila and expertly mixed with the perfect proportions made this one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time! Will definitely be back for more!

We had a wonderful evening! Kevin our server was so gracious about letting us know we still had time to order from the happy hour menu and even took photos for us. Both still and sparkling water are on the house (and they told us upfront) which we appreciated. Onto the food! From happy hour menu we chose crispy lemony brussel sprouts which had the perfect crisp and char. Very very nice. Also got oysters - we enjoyed both types offered on the menu. Very fresh! Entrees - amazing squid ink seafood pasta with mussels, scallops, shrimp and squid cooked wonderfully. Nothing chewy. Everything tasted fresh and the pasta sauce was such a treat. Also ordered the potato gnocchi which they make in house and is soft and melts in your mouth. They had pomodoro sauce and burrata on it - I am a gnocchi fan and enjoyed this very much as well. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. Great place to have a conversation over delicious dinner. Thanks Atelier for a great night!

We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and a warm gougère, which reminded me of Brazilian pão de queijo. For drinks, I enjoyed the French 75 along with the non-alcoholic Pamplemousse, while my niece ordered the non-alcoholic Guadalupe. To start, we each had the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and comforting. We also shared the foie gras torchon, which my niece described as incredibly smooth and creamy. For our entrées, we ordered the filet of beef and the rack of lamb. Both were cooked to perfection, and I appreciated that neither dish was overwhelmed with gravy or sauce, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. For dessert, we shared the mixed berry soufflé and the Feuillantine. The Feuillantine was my favorite--it was wonderfully rich, chocolatey, and creamy. Pairing bites of the light, fruity soufflé with the decadent chocolate dessert turned out to be a delicious combination. To end the meal, the restaurant surprised us with complimentary pistachio macarons, which was a thoughtful finishing touch. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere that feels refined without being stuffy. Combined with the outstanding food and exceptional service, it made for a memorable celebration, and I'd happily return.

Completely unique, it was a place where you could stop in for a light meal prepared by a world-class chef in a lovely historically significant building. With many regular customers returning weekly, Cocotte was a meeting place, a community, a casual yet special restaurant to meet old friends, to make new ones, and to enjoy a chat with Chef. The food was exceptional, prepared with an intolerance for anything less than the highest of standards, with an abiding and generous love for delicious cuisine. Nowhere else on the shoreline will one find tartiflette, escargot, and raclette together on the menu alongside delicious cocottes, omelettes, and perfect French salads, to be followed by a gorgeous selection of desserts. The finest French teas, lavender lemonade, robust New Orleans coffee, and gelato in flavors like blood orange or amaretto cherry. The chef and his wife sought to offer a place that was unique and special to the region, including traditional French pantry items, cook's tools, and other beautiful merchandise. Several customers were known to travel from afar for their almond croissants. Local residents will be hard-pressed to find such a place with its relaxed atmosphere, paying homage to its history, appreciating its original lovely antique architectural details, where the diner would never be rushed, in a world where most of our dining choices value the bottom line far more than relationships and a traditional dining experience. It is these very special characteristics that made Cocotte completely beloved and valued by its discerning and cultured clientele, who packed into the restaurant during its last weeks, wanting to experience Cocotte for one last time, express their appreciation, and to say goodbye. 323 Main Street, with so many lives and histories held within your time-worn, dignified and softly age-mellowed walls, surely the story of Cocotte will be one of your favorite memories.

We found a charming and lovely restaurant with delightful French cooking. The deal really can't be beat. The small buffet area was ample both with options and flavor! I ordered UberEats from them before and was blown away by the tremendous offerings and generous portions. I decided to dine in and it was even better! The restaurant is located on the busy Northern Blvd between Morgan and Glenwood. The inside has a 19th century French ambiance, decorated with French posters, carpeted floors and a cozy warm dining area. Don't worry about the never ending traffic noise, commotion , and construction coming from outside. The calm and peaceful ambiance along with the music playing in the restaurant canceled out all the exterior noise. I opted in for their lunch buffet, which offered a ton of food for an amazing $18.95 deal which you can hardly find in this day and age. The restaurant gave a nice basket of warm bread with a generous amount of butter in a ramekin followed by a really good Tunisian salad with a little bit of everything. (fresh greens, cooked carrots, chickpea salad, diced cucumbers peppers and their take on the Ratatouille-- really good) I was given the option of getting their daily soup or the French Onion Soup with an up charge. I took the French option soup without any hesitation. Last time I had a good French onion soup was back when I attended college in upstate. Glad I got to try the one from here. The onion soup has an abundance of flavor with a generous amount of melted cheese and onions. The buffet selections were at the table. It came with two entrees (a chicken and a beef) cooked vegetables, mussels, mixed rice, cheese selection and slices bread cake. The entrees vary each day so be sure to call in and check. The chicken was moist, and juicy, served with a mushroom gravy. Similar to a Chicken Marsala dish. The stewed beef with mushrooms was nice and soft. The veggies included carrots and onions. The mussels were cooked to perfection, simmered in a nice buttery sauce. The meal also includes a cup of coffee or tea. What a great way to finish the meal. Marie was super nice and friendly. She gave me some insights on the food and the different menus they have on different days. A great establishment going strong for 47 years! Thank you Marie for everything. I will definitely be returning with my family.
