Great happy hour near Yale Campus. Oysters were delicious! Nice upscale bar. Loved the relaxing music they play in the background. Nice touch. Great service!

My date and I were in downtown New Haven on a Friday night and decided to stop at Florian for a drink and small bite to eat. It was cute inside, but since it was a nice night, we decided to sit outside on their little patio. I ordered a lavender martini which was very tasty and my date ordered a maple bourbon old fashioned which also was very good. We ordered the crab cake and the mariniere moules frites (mussels, Belgium fries in a garlicky broth). The crab cake was decent, but the mussels and the Belgium fries with the lemon aioli were plentiful and delicious. We were served by Kevin who made us feel very welcomed and had lots of enthusiasm. We also were served by Trinity who was amazing, answered all of our questions and she is the reason why we will definitely be returning! It was a great first experience and would definitely recommend checking out!

Atelier Florian will always have a special place in my heart so perhaps this review is slightly biased. I first came here in 2016 and had a really great time. I went back in 2017 and 2018 but that was the last time, until today for brunch. My friend made a 12pm reservation but we got there at about 12:11pm and we were seated with no issues. The host grabbed us some still water and our waitress came over. She was very polite and patient as we sifted through the menu. I grabbed the Avocado Benedict and a peach mimosa. They have several flavors for the mimosa, you just have to ask for it. Our food came out within 12 minutes but they actually gave me the wrong order. The server immediately noticed and rectified it. The flavor was quite bland to be honest but the impeccable service made up for it.

The service was nice. The food was good. We had a taste for oyster so we decided to check this place out. We went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The server asked us if we wanted sparking or regular water for the table. We ordered oysters, a pepper appetizer and some fries. The ambiance was nice they had soft music playing in the back ground. And it was nice inside

We had some time to kill before a dinner reservation and we decided to check out their social hour. Our servers name was Kevin and he was amazing. Super attentive, super personable and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Since it was happy hour, we ordered the two dollar oysters and had a couple drinks. We also ordered the fries with the special sauce. the sauce was He made our visit extra ordinary and we would definitely come back again!!!

My family and I were traveling from Philadelphia to Maine for our annual ski trip and found this gem in the heart of the Yale Campus in New Haven. Since it was Christmas break, it was absolutely dead since all the college kids were back home for the holidays. This place is a French Bistro style restaurant with high quality ingredients and a small, well executed menu. A little pricey for a lunch spot but all the food was really good. Our waiter K was attentive and extremely kind. He was playful with my kids and gave them a piece of candy after they ate their lunch. The clam chowder was absolutely delicious, fried calamari was Ok. I would recommend the arancini, and the Croque monsieur. Only reason for not 5 stars, I think for the price, the food should've been more elevated than what we got. The decor and atmosphere what excellent however!

This is a hidden !! Not sure how there are any negative reviews. We enjoyed all of our dishes. The clam chowder was a little "thin" but everything else was amazing.

    Cozy and chic bar.

The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. The staff is very attentive and helpful. We ordered some appetizers: tuna tartare, grilled shishito peppers, ceviche, and arincini balls. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The strawberry Sunrise cocktail I got was delectable Fresh strawberry puree with high end tequila and expertly mixed with the perfect proportions made this one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time! Will definitely be back for more!

We had a wonderful evening! Kevin our server was so gracious about letting us know we still had time to order from the happy hour menu and even took photos for us. Both still and sparkling water are on the house (and they told us upfront) which we appreciated. Onto the food! From happy hour menu we chose crispy lemony brussel sprouts which had the perfect crisp and char. Very very nice. Also got oysters - we enjoyed both types offered on the menu. Very fresh! Entrees - amazing squid ink seafood pasta with mussels, scallops, shrimp and squid cooked wonderfully. Nothing chewy. Everything tasted fresh and the pasta sauce was such a treat. Also ordered the potato gnocchi which they make in house and is soft and melts in your mouth. They had pomodoro sauce and burrata on it - I am a gnocchi fan and enjoyed this very much as well. The restaurant itself is cute and clean. Great place to have a conversation over delicious dinner. Thanks Atelier for a great night!

Lots of flavors going on and they balanced extreme well. Very delicious, vacation-like, and sophisticated. The bread here was also delicious as well the butter and the black salt it was served with. They have a whole vegan menu, but there were also some vegetarian things on the main menu so I stick with that. The beet salad was incredible. Huge portion, and some very delicious blue cheese which was in the dressing. It was very filling and I still had some to take back to my hotel. The wild mushroom "bolognese" (meatless) was tasty too, but it had a little too much of an herb (thyme?). Otherwise the meal was so very delicious and the setting was beautiful. And this is coming from a San Diegan who is used to waterfront views and good food!

I came on a Wednesday for the $17.99 lobster roll special and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. It is a quarter pound of lobster and you get actual lumps of claw and meat rather than the shredded stuff some other places serve. The butter it's sautéed in is seasoned delicately to accentuate the fresh lobster instead of covering up the taste. The portion was surprisingly large and it comes on a fresh bun that is lightly buttered and toasted. It even comes with a little cup of extra butter which I totally slathered on because I love butter! Every bite was so fresh and soft. The roll comes with fries and I did the optional $5 upcharge for the lobster bisque. That was also the best I've ever had because I've never seen bisque with such large chunks of lobster in it. It was just crazy good. Everything was well worth the price and I'd honestly come back even on days when it's not a special. They have something going on every night like the $9.99 burger and fries on Mondays, so that will definitely be my next reason to visit. I will be back for sure!

Mac and cheese was eh, really liquidy as well. I did really like the crispy mushroom risotto tater tots. They tasted just like tater tots. As we were getting to our last bites and still eating, at least three different staff members within a matter of a minute asked if we're were done and could take our plates away. I would have given this place four stars had we not been bombarded at the end of our dinner. It felt like we were being rushed out even though there were tons of tables and seats still available. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

The fish sandwich was also OK. There was a generous amount of fried haddock, served on toasted sliced bread. The fish was fine, but wasn't breaded or seasoned in a way that I enjoyed. The view from the deck was also excellent, and the cocktails themselves were delicious. A lot of the appetizers were very good. The tuna tartare and the mussel curry were both inspired dishes; the mussels in the sauce had great flavor, though the portion sizes overall felt small. The blistered snap peas with preserved lemon were also delicious. That said, for a place with "oyster" in the name, we expected a wider or higher-quality selection, perhaps including some from Canada, rather than the fairly standard options from CT and MA. Unfortunately, the main dishes missed the mark for us and didn't offer enough food. The sea bass was overcooked. the accompanying lima beans weren't cooked all the way through, and the dish lacked depth of flavor. The shrimp main also fell short, with the shrimp having a very odd, mushy bland flavor. To finish, the pot de crème had so much cream and so little actual chocolate that there was almost no chocolate flavor. On a separate note, navigating the QR code menu was pretty obnoxious. Restaurants should really just offer traditional paper menus; people stare at screens all day and come out to engage with each other, not look at a phone again, and constantly have it on the table. While I appreciate Fair Haven Oyster's creative concepts, their tinned fish with pickled sides, and their great starters, the execution on the mains and the portion sizes left something to be desired, especially at these price points. This was probably our sixth time going to Fairhaven Oyster. We've been going over the past few years and my overall takeaway is that I will definitely return for the drinks, the great atmosphere, and some appetizers, but will not be ordering mains.
