Due to the wide ranging menu this is more like a diner than a Greek Restaurant. Menu includes burgers , misc sandwiches , fried chicken and Greek selections. My wife and I shared a Saganaki (Opa!!) and it was pretty good. Salad bar was limited but fresh. Chicken was a bit overcooked , could use more seasoning, but the meat was very tender and delicious. Service was very good even during a busy lunch period. I will go back when I'm in the mood for Saganaki and will try a traditional Greek dish next time. read more

Yes, I tried Athens. I was in Franklin on business and saw, what looked like a Greek Restaurant. Any restaurant I've ever been in, named Athens, has always had great gyro sandwiches. I was disappointed this time. We arrived 90 min before they closed for a 16 day hiatus. No surprise, but a few items were unavailable. If it wasn't for our server, Sue, we might have gone elsewhere. Food was probably all from frozen. The gyro meat I ordered on my sandwich looked just like what I buy at the supermarket. Hubby's salmon was a small portion and overcooked. The entire restaurant looked seedy and run down. Going through the darkened bar area toward the restroom, there was an unpleasant smell. Stopped in at 8p on Sunday. We had the place to ourselves and I was concerned. This place is a local gem! Everything is from scratch and we were impressed!! We shared a fried mushroom appetizer that was so fresh and well done. I recommend the Greek dressing from the delicious greek salad to dip the mushrooms in. Hubby and I shared the Greek Sampler Dinner and it was fantastic. The Gyro was so tasty with the fresh tzatziki on the pita and tomato & onion slices (our waitress brought out as an extra.) The dolmas was so good. Loved the veal hand pie. Hubby enjoyed the spanakopita and cheese pie. I was too stuffed to sample. Sophia took excellent care of us with quick attentive service. This place is more like a small country diner. By the menu I was really expecting something a tad bit more upscale. The seafood platter was horrible. One of the clams had a full belly! Gross! The salad bar had decent soups. But it had been a while since they stirred some of the salads. They looked dry and unattractive. They only had head lettuce. As most of the reviews have said it is outdated yes. But the waitress was very nice and made us feel "at home" I got the hummus and the fried chicken. Both were Very good. (Chicken was greasy but I still thought it was very tasty) the only reason for the 3 stars is because of how dirty the floor was. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in awhile and the bathroom smelt kinda bad. But I would definitely return. $50 with tip for 2 Sunday specials (4 decent size pieces of chicken, 2 pieces of bread and a baked potato I had and my girlfriend had fries ) with the hummus appetizer with extra pita bread and a sprite. I will repeat was was already mentioned: Everything seemed to be previously frozen and reheated. Greek salad was large but not much more than lettuce...oh, yes, one olive. I didn't have gyros but wouldn't have wanted to. Never seen gyros like that before. Got the sample platter and could only eat the moussaka...spinach pie was just spinach, veal in filo dough was tough, pastitsio looked too strange to eat also. Garage! Over cooked, fishy and greasy chicken. A Grecian restaurant serves pre formed gyros meat? Salad bar offerings of potato salad and macaroni salad seemed warm. Definitely an issue with proper temperature control. Our server was attentive enough but I could not complain as it was clear she was tired with life as well as her day of service. The dining room was disgustingly dirty from ceiling to floor. It was unfortunate we did not observe this when we arrived. Save yourself and avoid this place. read more

Pretty poor greek restaurant. Decor is dated and cliché, not unusual for Greek restaurants. Staff was friendly and service was quick and good overall. They bring you a whole carafe of ice water so thumbs up there. The food is the real tragedy. Ordered a gyro and a Greek salad for lunch. Salad was flavorless despite swimming in an oily dressing and smothered with feta. Luckily they bring out an entire bottle of the dressing in case you need more. Gyro was obvious presliced, bland crap meat. Toppings were lazy, just a straight slice off a whole onion and two whole slices of tomato. Tzaziki was just sour cream with some diced cucumber. As food choices are limited in the Franklin area near my work I was always wanting to try this place out as I am a sucker for a good gyro for lunch. The first thing that greets you is a retro styled restaurant with red carpeting and outdated booths. The generic bottles of dust covered wine and imitation flowers on each table adds to the outdated feel. I ordered the gyro plate with the "salad bar". The salad bar for a Greek restaurant is severely lacking and does not even include the atypical feta cheese or Greek style salad dressing or tomatoes...the gyro is not even on par with one that I get on the cheap at Jordan's Fish and Chicken. The bread is soggy and the meat and tomatoes come off as an after thought. Very dissapointing. The service is good, but from what I see there is one server for 10 tables. Granted, the visions I have of a Greek restaurant are similar to the dining room in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" film, I am always greeted with a musty lounge with red velvet as the prime decoration (it's EVERYWHERE). The food is meh.... I'm a bit perturbed that I only get ONE olive in my salads, and that they provide me an entire half sliced tomato and onion in my gyro, yet a tablespoon of tzaziki sauce. It's delicious for a Greek restaurant on the outskirts of Indianapolis, but I have and will prefer to experience better. read more

This place needs a restart. Ordered Gyro sandwiches and I'll just say BLEH! The meat looked like prepacked Bologna. When I tasted it I tasted bologna THEN Gyro spices. I spoke to the waitress about our food and she assured us that we had Gyro sandwiches in front of us, stating the owner is Greek and bakes the meat every morning. I mentioned I have eaten Gyros in Greece, NYC, Chicago, etc, and these look nothing like any Gyro I've seen. NO FETA! What is a Gyro without Feta?! And Cucumber sauce was Sour cream. So, I asked for our food to be returned, at which the waitress huffed. We though just order burgers now. How can you mess up a "burger" right? Well, the burger reminded me of our School lunches. In short, don't waste your money here. $18.50 for 2 thin and cheap burgers. Dirty tables...was afraid to finish my drink after seeing the condensation off my glass leave brown circles on old white table clothes. We will never be back. This is by far my favorite place to eat in Franklin. I would go in just for the soup, but the pasta and fried chicken are the real stars!

So happy we went here for lunch today. My Greek salad with egg & gyros meat added was perfect! The small size was very filling. The pita bread was great & my hubby loved the salad bar & soups! The bean soup was awesome. And tapioca pudding with a wonderful vanilla flavor The special was fried chicken (which looked amazing!...so we plan to go back soon & try it too!) This place is actually known for it's fried chicken. Weird, but I guess that works. When I order the gyros, my father in law also makes me get the salad bar so I can put the coleslaw on it. He's right, it's good. If you do go that route, get your onions grilled. (You have to specify.) I don't think a thing has changed in this place in years, but I guess if it aint broke, don't fix it. Best Grape Leaves since I was stationed in Germany and there was the Greek restaurants from the immigrants with authentic food. My wife also loved the eggplant dish, and she doesn't like any other eggplant dishes except Chinese. We will be driving the extra distance back, this is a diamond in the rough here. The service is extremely nice, and after commenting on the grape leaves - I was told the 80+ grandma comes in every day and rolls them. Don't miss out, food here is great!
