This place is the best for Greek food! Prices are so good and the food is amazing. If you like George's, I'd say this place is way better. And sometimes they have a 20% coupon that you get in the mail. Came in here with a craving for Mediterranean but left feeling ripped off. Prices are higher in the restaurant than found here on Yelp. I ordered 2 gyro platters plus a side of fries. The girl ringing me up waits til after she swipes my card and I pay to tell me that they are out of pasta for the gyro platters. I could have substituted fries for it and not paid extra but she didn't bother to tell me that. So I paid full price for 2 platters but didn't get 2 full platters plus had to pay extra for fries. read more

Athens West is excellent chain style Greek food. Their "zesty" feta is one of my favorites. It is spicy but doesn't have all the weird add things like other places with spicy feta. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is I don't feel like it woes me. Their menu is consistent and great but it's nothing to write home about. read more

Really great place. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It is mediterranean food but it's on the Greek side. I had the Chicken Pita with fries and the salad: It was perfect. My only critique is I'll probably ask to have the sauce put inside the sandwich next time. I've had the combo platter: The salad here is the best I've had at any mediterranean place. Food is good here as I've been many times, but the workers behaviors tonight, unacceptable. Three young girls working the counter tonight, they were rude and couldn't be bothered with the customers. One girl was friends with a table that was sitting down eating and she kept walking back and fourth from their table eating food then back behind the counter in the kitchen again. Greek is one of my favorite types of cuisine. For Greek food in the Long Beach area, you basically have two main options: the venerable George's and Athens West. Athens West has the quick-serve approach and a fairly no-frills atmosphere, but in my humble opinion their food is actually better than George's. And Athens West has ORZO. Don't even try to compare Athens West to Daphne's. The Seal Beach location is in our regular rotation. It's consistently fresh and delicious. And the portion sizes are hearty. The service has always been great too, although we do miss Carlos--who until recently was a fixture at the Seal Beach location. If you're going for the first time, I recommend the Gyro Platter. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because the atmosphere is kinda "meh". There's nothing wrong with it, just nothing to write home about in that department. Great customer service. No greek potatoes in a greek restaurant? That was odd , instead they had orzo pasta and french fries. The chicken was pink and rubbery for one kebab and the other kebab was cooked. Disappointing. Salad was well done. Won't return because of pink rubbery chicken. read more

Pretty bland food. It's Greek fast food, but I much prefer Daphne's. There's a nice seating area outside, and it's pleasant to watch people walk by and enjoy the afternoon. Plus, they bring your food to you. But they don't bring you utensils. So you have to leave your stuff at the table and get all your supplies if you don't realize this beforehand. Not a big problem if you're with someone, but if you're alone, it kind of sucks. read more

Athens West reminds me of Daphne's: a place to get your quick Greek food fix. The pita bread is warm and tasty (nicely buttered). They offer several salads in addition to the gyros, pita sandwiches, platters, and vegetarian offerings. I actually think their menu has more on it than Daphne's too. The salad I ordered when I came here was the Combo Salad. It came with both gyro meat and grilled chicken. It's a lot of food but very good. As they claim on the menu, it's the best of both worlds. This location has indoor and outdoor/patio seating. The outdoor seating has heat lamps to keep you warm, which is good for those cool beach nights. The prices aren't that bad for the amount of food you get. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back. read more

I love Athen's West for being a quality, "fast-food" Greek stop, unlike generic places like Daphne's. They give you plenty of grub for under $9 per person! I always get the Gyro platter, which comes with a generous amount of gyro meat, DELICIOUS buttery, garlicky orzo pasta, and a Greek salad covered with feta and balsamic vinaigrette. Only downside is the water they have on tap tastes like metal (yuck!). So avoid it; even lemons won't mask the taste. Oh, and don't forget to pick up a syrup-drenched, nut-filled baklava (or two) to finish off this wonderful meal! read more

The staff is really nice and the prices are just right. Brought my mother here on a suggestion and didn't regret it. The steak and the chicken kabobs are spot on. It seems there's enough positive reviews on here, but I've been coming here forever and my family's ordered probably everything by now. While everything is great and the service is phenomenal (and they have pick up for phoned ordered which is awesome) the thing you can't get this good anywhere else in my opinion is their greek salad. And the one thing I don't love so much is their pitas... I feel like by the time they get home sometimes they're a bit chewy (like not as fluffy as it should be). That's about it though. I'm not a huge fan of Mediterranean food and I can honestly say this is a great deal. You get excellent food for a small amount of monies. The lamb was delicious and the steak was juicy and tender. The grilled shrimp were cooked just the right amount and pita was soft and warm. They brought the food out to our table instead of calling a number and we also loved the chocolate drizzled baklava. What more could you ask for? There is even a nice little seating area outside for the nice weather in Seal Beach. I'm told it's hard to come by this sort of food and for such a good price. read more

My favorite "go-to" Greek place. Love it especially because of the orzo pasta. Lunch Specials are a great deal. Most that come with 2 sides. Orzo, salad, or fries. and a drink too. Sad that I dont get to frequent it as much as i would like, but i moved worksites. But its worth the extra miles. Kabobs are my favorite. This is an amazing spot to stop in with even more amazing service. Its a fast food vibe with upscale restaurant taste. I stopped for lunch and took it to go. I didn't open the bag for a solid 20-30 mins after I received the order. The menu was so tantalizing I ordered more than I meant to and I am so glad I did. I got a gyro salad and the zesty pita appetizer. The salad was incredible, a standard Greek salad with all the fixings topped with gyro meat (a heaping portion I might add) and a side of pita bread. It was accompanied by a great vinegarette and even a side of tzasiki sauce. Even after waiting so long to eat the meat was still hot and the lettuce was still perfect and crispy. I ended up waiting another hour to eat the zesty feta and pita starter because the salad was so filling (I mean really there was sooooo much food) and even though it was hanging out for a while the feta and pita was INCREDIBLE it did pack a nice little punch which I loved. Most things labeled as zesty are inherintly disappointing. This was not that. I munched hard and happily. I was so excited that I neglected to take a picture but both items were incredible. Please stop here. Please patronize this amazing spot and pay respect to the angels behind the counter. 15/10 read more

Great greek food in a casual atmosphere! Fiance and I both got the Gyro Platter and were not disappointed. This is our go to Greek dish and we can be pretty picky, but we were both pleased. Loved the meat, tzatziki, and orzo side dish. Price was very affordable and the other dishes looked good too. Small inside seating, but the patio is heated so you'll want to head out there. The perfect way to end a day at the beach and by far some of the best Greek in north OC. read more
