Al pastor and mahi mahi tacos
    Audrey E.

My boyfriend and I went on a bike ride down to Seal Beach and decided to stop here for lunch. Cute little spot, he recommended it so I was pretty excited since I do like a good Mexican food session! We were immediately greeted and seated. Fresh complimentary chips and salsa came to our table as we sat down. Salsa was delicious and chips were freshly made! I ordered two a la carte tacos, mahi fish taco done tropical style and an Al pastor taco. They come on two corn tortillas, pretty big for tacos. Both had really good flavors and the portion was appropriate for the price. My boyfriend ordered steak fajitas! They came out sizzling, the steak pieces were juicy and tender. You do get beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and 3 flour tortillas. Staff members were all very nice, helpful, and tentative. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in Seal beach!

February 2025 Neighborhood restaurant that I love. Food - Always good, my favorite is the Pupusa :) Service - It can get super busy but service is always friendly. Ambiance - BUSY, a bit noisy at times but the food & Margarita's are worth it!

My evening rations 2nd October 2025.

I went with my mother to this establishment for evening rations. We waited while our booth was cleaned. I had to ask for a part of the table to be wiped dry. Tortilla chips were brought to our table. I ordered the shrimp and scallop scampi along with salad and tortillas. My mother ordered Chile Relleno Combo and Cheese Enchilada. We both had "Wooder" to drink. I thought that the food was good and tasty. Scallops were nice and tender. The salad was large enough that I took some home in a "to go" container to be eaten the next day. I had to wait to use the Men's washroom as it was designed to be single occupancy. The men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I wish that the washroom was not single occupancy. I have a bone to pick with at least some of the guys who were working at this establishment as I don't consider them to be properly dressed. The reason was that I saw employees wearing their shirts untucked. I consider guys who wear their shirts, even t shirts, untucked to be improperly dressed. This is something that I am OCD about. Due to the untucked shirts, I am dinging this establishment one point. When I got the bill, I saw a 3.5 percent"Plastic Fee." I did not make an issue about it with the waitress, but I didn't see any prior notice about any "plastic fee." If there was any sign about it in the restaurant or notice about it on the menu, I missed it. However, I later saw something about a 3.5 percent credit card fee in the "frequently asked questions" section of the website of this establishment. I guess the plastic and credit card fee is the same. Anyway, this fee left a bad taste in me as it was not PROMINENTLY disclosed beforehand, so I am dinging this establishment one point for the fee. I did see a sign that Pat McCormick was here. Pat McCormick was a famous Olympic Swimmer and she taught me how to swim way back in 1972. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school, this establishment would be in there solid with a C.

    Chili Rellano and crispy Taco

Hi Everyone! Back in Long Beach this weekend. My friend to me to a "great little local place" for Mexican food. She took me to Yucatan Grill. It's is definitely a locals place tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. It is older but very clean inside with plenty of available parking. Upon seating, we were immediately approached with a basket of chips and Salsa. The chips were excellent. The salsa ok. I was pleased they also had brewed mango ice tea. A nice surprise! The service was excellent and the waitress took the time to explain the food choices and gave us plenty of time to order. The food arrived and there was plenty of it! I had the Chili Rellano and a crispy chicken taco. I also chose the Yucatan (yellow rice) and the no lard pinto beans. (see photo attached). My food was very good. The Chili Rellano was big and full of cheese and the taco equally as tasty. I'm not a rice guy, (per se) but enjoyed the Yucatan rice. The beans were decent. Overall my experience here was excellent! You are probably wondering then, why only four stars? Well, sadly, I was very disappointed to find, when the bill came, a 3.5% "plastic" service charge! I HATE hidden charges attached to the bill without notice! I asked the waitress about it and she said it was for using a credit card. Again, ok, you are a small mom and pop, but put a notice on the door, on the menu, but don't hide it on the final bill. No Bueno! Jim

Panuchos, Yucatán fish pot, and enchilada combo

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Tasty Mexican fare with a Caribbean twist. We came here to support the Seal Beach Animal Care Center--they were doing one of those nights when 20% of your bill goes to a benefitting organization so we decided to give it a go. It was already quite crowded by the time we got there around 6pm, but luckily we didn't have to wait too long for a table. We ordered the following: - Yucatán pepita dip (made with toasted pumpkin seeds-yum) - Yucatán fish pot (seafood stew with scallops, mahi-mahi and shrimp simmered with okra, tomatoes, thyme and other spices and hot chilies) - Cheese enchilada with beans and rice Everything was delicious and the service was efficient and prompt, despite the busyness. Extra thanks to our server who graciously took back a dish that we'd ordered without realizing it had meat in it (panuchos). It's a little out of our area for it to be a part of our regular rotation, but the next time there's another benefit for SBACC we are there!

I've had some wonderful + nostalgic experiences at Yucatan Grill. As a vegetarian, I greatly appreciate that they don't use lard in their rice and beans (as stated on the menu). The food is simply yummy and fresh. I have tried both the enchiladas as well as the burrito. Yucatan grill is a place I will continue to come back to when I'm in Seal Beach.

I provide that information because sadly, the food tasted as if I was served the portions of chicken curry, cabbage, and mixed vegetables that had been sitting in the pots all day or had been reheated from previous days. This truly hurt my hurt as it has been a long time coming for a Caribbean restaurant to arrive in Long Beach. The chicken curry lacked balanced flavor due to it sitting and seemed to have more and more curry added and no other spices to play on the notes from the chicken. So it was just an overcooked, concentrated, high sodium, scotch bonnet(ed), abused curry with meat that was struggling to maintain its right to be chicken but the flavors of chicken had been executed. Second, spoiled cabbage anyone? I knew it as soon as I opened it. It smelled of cabbage that had been forced to over stay its welcome and by the portion size, I was to see the extra servings of it as an award but it just turned into a punishment. I truly believe, or at least want to, believe this was an off day and whoever permitted the "last of.." to be served was just off their game and will read this review and never make these mistakes again. I believe in you and am definitely willing to give this restaurant another try in the future. For now I need to take some time and recover. But please, I rooting for you, believe in you, and know that your love for the food and culture will step back up to the high quality standards it created!

It was our first time and happened to dine during one of their collab nights. We were disappointed at first because we were craving Colombian food. But the limited menu looked promising so we gave it a go. It turned out that everything was delicious. The spare rib was fall off the bone tender and had great smoky flavor. The beans were surprisingly tasty too. (I always find beans an unnecessary and bland accompaniment). I absolutely loved the brisket stir fry. The flavors blended well and it had a nice kick. The meat was so tender and I appreciated the meat to noodle ratio. The chicken inside the empanada was deliciously smoky but not overly so and the crust was the right consistency and crisp. It came with 3 sauces which were good but would have like a more spicier option. I tried two cocktails that were in the collab menu. The black old fashioned was too strong for me. I definitely preferred the buffalo soldier which was tasty and refreshing. My favorite dessert was the Natilla. It was like a flan mousse and so good. The toasted coconut flakes added a nice texture. The oblea was fun to eat. That cream and jam were a great combo. Overall a worthwhile experience. I hope to come back to try their regular menu items.

There are also three tables outside that seat four, four, and two for a maximum of ten. The place fills up fast, but empties just as quick. And their baked goods go quick, so grab them while you can! I ordered the Cuban Empanada as an appetizer. The savory rice and bean filling was a perfect compliment to the sweet ripe plantain filling and hint of sweetness in the dough. They are baked and the dough is thick and chewy, so if you're not a fan of that type of Empanada, be warned... I ordered the Cuban Sandwich as the main course. It was DELICIOUS and I would recommend it to everyone! If you're a purist, like a few of my friends and family though, be warned. Their take on the Cuban is made with Ciabatta not Cuban Bread, Mozzarella not Swiss, and is toasted not pressed... I ordered a Vanilla & Dulce De Leche Cookie for Dessert. It was AMAZING! Soft chewy on the inside, a little crunch on the outside. The taste of a sugar cookie with little sugar bombs of Dulce De Leche throughout. Perfect. And I washed it all down with a Tres Leches Latte (Hot). It was DIVINE! Very much on the sweet side, which I absolutely enjoyed to the last drop. But, if you do not like it too sweet, you can ask them to lower the sweetness level. Also, they will give you an option of dairy milk (2%), almond milk, or oat milk when you order. It was our first time here, so we wanted to try all the flavors! We got the beef, chicken, BBQ pork, Cuban, chicken curry, veggie, and ropa vieja empanadas. I LOVE the crispy exterior of the empanadas, although interestingly, the first bites always tasted slightly salty. The fillings all had decent flavor, but none of them were outstanding or impressed me enough to want more. I will say, the green salsa they included with the order SIGNIFICANTLY improved the taste and experience of the empanadas. By itself, I'd rate the empanadas 3/5, but with the salsa, it definitely goes up to at least 4/5. But I dislike that the empanadas can't hold their own without the addition of the salsa. The shop is located in a plaza with a decent amount of parking. I think there were a few tables outside to enjoy the food, but not much seating otherwise. The girl at the counter seemed sweet and helpful and immediately greeted us when we came into the store. While the empanadas here aren't for me, it does seem like many people like them!
