What a wonderful experience. The decor is lovely and elegant. Our server Martin was very attentive and plated our branzino beautifully. The entire staff was efficient. We ordered the calamari which was nicely battered. The firecracker roll is topped with salmon, I would swap the salmon for scallop or shrimp, however it was still good. A cozy place with beautiful decor. The food, however, was just okay - nothing special and could have been more seasoned. We shared octopus carpaccio and shishito peppers as appetizers. The octopus was fresh, a light mix of lemon, celery, tomatoes, olives, capers and pistachios. For mains, I ordered the grilled salmon and my friend ordered the mushroom risotto - just fine. The dessert was delicious though. The service was great, but overall the food seemed way overpriced for what it was. For the price, I've had better and more memorable meals elsewhere. read more

We have tried various restaurants for dinner before the opera at Lincoln Center. This is definitely the best we have experienced. The food was excellent (Dover sole perfectly prepared) and no problem with splitting an entree. Excellent wine list even if pricey which is not unusual in NYC. I am disappointed for the need to write this review. My wife and I frequent the theatre and the Atlantic Grill is usually our preferred choice to dine. We normally sit at the bar and receive impeccable service. However, no seats were available at the bar during our latest visit and the hostess seated us at a table. She asked if we were in a rush and we responded no - perhaps a fatal error. Two servers waited on tables to the left and right but neither bothered to acknowledge our presence. We received water and bread service but neither server came to our table. After 20 minutes, still no acknowledgement but noted a guest arrived, was seated, and received prompt service by one of the servers who served the table next to ours. The servers deliberately ignored our table for a reason only they would know. After almost 30 minutes, we left and had a marvelous meal at Nougatine. read more

Received a call on 5-10 that the restaurant isn't even open on 5-11 and they blamed it on a problem with "the system". We had the pre-theater menu and were not impressed. For our first course one of us had salad and the other had sushi; our main courses were both salmon. Nothing was particularly tasty. The desserts were especially disappointing - yoghurt ice cream and brownie sundae were both "meh." With the pre-theater menu, you can pay another $11 to have a cocktail (but limited to only two choices of the many listed). Wine is not offered for the additional fee, which seemed really odd. Our server was pleasant but seemed very inexperienced and nervous. We had to repeat our orders several times and were given a different wine than what we ordered. We won't be back. read more

Everyone knows the Atlantic Grill has outstanding 5 star food, and they are not wrong! We have a magnificent meal and the restaurant had lots of gluten free options to meet my dietary requirements. The food was outstanding. But I left this review bc I want to rave about the service! Jessie was our server and she was just THE BEST. I mentioned that I wished I could get the spicy margarita but I don't drink alcohol anymore and next thing I knew there was a zero proof spicy margarita at the table that the bartender made just for me (it's not on the menu)! Such an elegant and classy addition to UWS. I have walked by this restaurant several times and never thought to stop in. Wish I did sooner! Atlantic Grill is a place you would find yourself before a show, date night or take the parents to a place where you want them to be impressed. I personally love to sit at the bar here. The warm vibes and positive energy from the staff and the customers make an amazing scene for a happy hour cocktail. I would recommend the spicy margarita to start. Perfectly made! I love seafood but I have to say, while I've had main dishes (seafood paella is amazing) - every time I come I go straight for the sushi. My favorites are the yuzu yellowtail roll and the fire cracker roll. Fire cracker has a bit of a smoky/ spice that makes it hard to not finish the entire thing (even when you are stuffed!). Service is also fantastic. Bartenders are all attentive and constantly checking in. Very highly recommended for this hidden gem of a classy restaurant in the neighborhood! read more

This was our first visit back to the Atlantic Grill since the pandemic. The room is beautiful. It's dark and clubby, with adequate room between tables. The staff were lovely and attentive. Cocktails were very good. The bread service was good. The food was uneven. I started off with a very good dragon roll. My wife had the shrimp cocktail, which turned out to be served over salad. The presentation was beautiful, but my wife didn't love the shrimp. Our friends enjoyed their Mediterranean salads. The entrees were a similar story. The grilled salmon was fine. My wife didn't love her branzino. The only real outlier in the meal was the cauliflower gratinee, which I can only describe as heinous. It was served in a gloppy cream sauce and was overwhelmed with a spice that may have been cumin, but didn't work to good effect. Coffee was very good. Prices are typical for a seafood restaurant. This is a beautiful restaurant with great service. The food didn't quite match the rest of the experience. Still, it's a solid place for a pre-theater eat. read more

I've been going to this place since the Gingerman days. When it became the Atlantic Grill it remained excellent ... until this new management took over. The space is lovely, cozy, and comfortable ... But, the food is literally sometimes inedible, barely recognizable and the menu is all over the place. it's pretentious and the staff appear to be terrified of the surly management. I've given it every possible try, hoping it will improve, but it only gets worse. There's a reason it's the only restaurant in the area not open for lunch on weekdays. please fix it! read more

The waitstaff could not be counted on to keep my water glass full. We waited and waited and waited on our main courses and again on our dessert. A dinner that should have taken maybe an hour, maybe an hour and a quarter, stretched to a full 2 hours as we repeatedly tried to summon waiters to pay attention to us. Also, it was raining. We were directed to leave our umbrellas in an already full receptacle at the entrance and left them as nearby as possible. On leaving, our umbrellas had disappeared. Originally came for restaurant week. We happened to come on what was supposed to be the last day of restaurant week which they didn't honor. They had claimed it ended for them the previous Friday, although they were listed for Sunday participation. That was a downer but we were already there so we continued. The food items ordered were the sushi, Lobster Bisque and Escalope de Foie Gras, Salmon Béarnaise: Grilled Salmon, green beans, cherry tomatoes, dill, Béarnaise sauce, and Ravioli Atlantic Grill: House made ravioli, Maine crab, brandy cream sauce. The Lobster Bisque was really good. I'd honestly only come back for the that. The sushi came out fresh. The salmon entree didn't feel cohesive I didn't love it. I felt like the entire dish needed more love. The ravioli was okay just missing that extra oomph. I'm not sure if this place would get a second visit from me. Forget about it. I shall try to forget it. The service, seemingly nice, was ineffectual. (A glass of wine was not brought before food orders were given; a shared salad came without serving utensils. Shellfish in shells was served without small forks.) The food demonstrated problems with the chef as well. Although the salad was supposed to have cheese on the side, the cheese was placed across the top. Scallops, said to be bay scallops, were clearly large sea scallops. The scallops were supposed to be broiled or grilled without butter; they came pale (no browning), seemingly poached. No seasoning was placed on the scallops. Excellent service continues to thrive. The ambiance, staff, service, cuisine, and cocktails were all outstanding. We appreciated the coat service upon arrival, well-timed table service, and prompt clearing after each course. Our octopus appetizer and sushi were both superb; the thinly sliced octopus was incredibly tender, and the sushi was among the best we've had. For our main courses, we enjoyed the lobster roll and the catch of the day, which was the Grilled octopus. A perfect martini was created (although blue cheese olives would have made it out of this world). The atmosphere was sophisticated and evocative. We definitely plan to return. read more

This restaurant is such a disappointment. I have gone here a few times when everything else in the area is booked, but it is consistently fair to poor. I just don't understand how a restaurant in such a prime location can be so mediocre and survive. The menu is varied, but so many of the dishes are unappealing. Came here with friends for dinner for Winter Restaurant Week. Wow, this place is spacious! After you pass the front section, there is a back section and another bar! Very impressed. Had a nice booth for dinner. Food and service were good here. This was one of the restaurants we wanted to try on the upper west side by Lincoln Center. Complimentary bread... Appetizers: New England Clam Chowder - they didn't serve it with oyster crackers as per the menu stated, rather 2 pieces of crackers already in the soup. Salmon poke bowl - was good too. Entrees: Grilled jumbo shrimp - very good shrimp though not a fan of chickpeas. Seafood rigatoni was good - small dish but filling Salmon was good as well. Dessert: Spiced carrot cake panna cotta w/ fruite compote and walnuts - delicious! Sorbet trio - grape, mango, raspberry (raspberry was tart) LSC members - don't forget to get points for dining here...though nothing special for your birthday except a candle on dessert. I've been dining in NYC for 10 years and this place should be avoided at all costs. The service is terrible, slow and inattentive. They don't know the menu and struggle to explain the dishes. The food is bad, overpriced and outdated. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night (this biggest red flag) and everything from that point onward was a disappointment. The decor is your standard old school seafood restaurant, picture the place your grandparents would want to take you for a fancy dinner. The wait staff was accommodating for our group so that part was fine, although also was a relatively quiet night. As far as the food, the appetizers, while nothing was bad, were underwhelming and for the $15-20 price point, there could've been a little bit more food. Also, the presentation was mediocre. Come to the main course though and there's a major difference. The presentation was great and the food itself, delicious. Overall a good experience, but wish they'd have put a bit more effort into the apps. read more

I am so happy to see this place re-opened, although I'm not convinced I love the reinvention. The new owners: Monte Carlo Hospitality Group (MCHG), have cut the restaurant in half. Now, Atlantic Grill is a much smaller intimate space. The prices are even higher than they used to be. For example, the fresh fish is priced per pound and comes a la carte. We were told that the half of the restaurant that used to be on W64th St will reopen next year as a French restaurant. We ate at the bar. The bartender doesn't have a big repertoire, but what he does make is excellent and priced right for the size. These are not skimpy cocktails, but they're at least $19! Everyone at the bar agreed with us that the food was excellent. I loved their bread basket too, especially their white bread. It reminded me of scones. The butter comes with seaweed mixed in and they have plain butter upon request. They no longer have the salmon burger (my lunchtime fav); they do have a fish burger which I'm looking forward to trying in the near future.The manager, was very friendly and helped out with the service. Note: There is no outdoor dining. They did check for COVID-19 vaccinations. read more

We arrived a bit early for our 5pm reservation after a matinee show at Lincoln Center. The host welcomes us and asks if we'd like to check our coats, we do. We are taken across the restaurant (This place is huge - entrances on 64/65th St) and given an awesome rounded booth meant for 3. Really an excellent table to check out the smaller bar and people watch. We order a mule and negroni and given an uninspiring bread loaf (better to save room for the menu). Didn't try the mule and negroni wasn't the best one I ever had. There are many things I wanted to try on the varied menu so we ordered some plates to share: 3 east & 3 west oysters: Quality oysters, but our server didn't bother to point out which were which. I liked the horseradish sitting separate in with cocktail sauce and a choice of mignonette as well. Charred Octopus: A loved how tender and flavorful the octopus was, but the portion was rather small. Nicely plated. Truffle Rainbow Roll: If you plan on getting any sushi rolls, let this be the one! A common RR is elevated with a citrus truffle sauce, which is probably the best sauce I ever had on a sushi roll ever! We shamelessly ordered another. This pairs excellent with the house Riesling. Hunts Point Fish Market Scallops: Everything you want in a scallop - plump, juicy, perfectly cooked on a bed of roasted corn, mushroom and tofu. The thai coconut-curry was very light and did not overpower the scallops at all. We had the kitchen split this entree. Brussel Sprouts: Maple Sherry was a bit too much sweet for me and I would have prefered large bacon pieces. I had better. For Dessert we went with a new item - Banana Ice Cream Tower which is served inside a cylinder of hazelnut, almost brittle candy like, with chunks of banana and ice cream inside. Beautifully presented and a good finish. They serve a great cup of coffee. This place gets packed so make a reservation! Our server was decent, but we heard others giving diners more recommendations and going over the market fish of the day. Got the sense that they know they are a long time, popular classic so didn't try as hard. read more
