Although a fairly limited menu, the food is fantastic. The oven roasted grouper and seafood tagine were fantastic. Service was what you would expect from fine dining. The wine menu is behind the food menu, almost disappointing for the level of restaurant. The hazelnut bar for dessert was delicious although the coffee was almost cold and tasted old. Came here a year ago and had a good brunch. I wanted to try again but was extremely disappointed this time around. We had the buffet brunch and it was more than below average. The sunny side up eggs were full of oil, the bread was dry and old. Potatoes were barely seasoned and were cold....coffee was burnt and no taste!! The french toasts looked pathetic, barely cooked !! Would not recommend this place. You are paying for the name definitely not for the quality of food. Our server was charming though (Jean), made paying 20$ per person a little less painful. This restaurant has a beautiful setting but the quality of the food was substandard especially considering their prices. I don't mind paying high prices but expect to get a good meal. The menu was limited, in fact we had a hard time finding something to order which is never a problem for us. The rolls were hard and the $54 ribeye was like shoe leather and tasteless. We went years ago before the renovation. The food itself wasn't mind blowing like Morada Bay or Pierre's but the setting and ambiance was so lovely that we would go back just for that. We spent our official honeymoon on Maui Hi. But we had 2 pre honeymoons one at the Jersey shore and one in the Florida Keys. Cheeca Lodge was the first place we stayed. We waited to go to Maui until the winter when the whales are there. We got married on July 4th and went to the Florida Keys. We ate at Atlantic's Edge and the setting so so very pretty! There is a new chef at Atlantic's Edge, which is now under the creative direction of James Beard-approved Chef Dean Max of 3030 Ocean fame in Fort Lauderdale. The food must be better now and the setting was so pretty that even though the food wasn't mind blowing I was over whelmed by the beauty. We are from NYC and started and ended our vacation in Miami beach though the resort we stayed at is nice here Miami beach is a cesspool. Everything about Atlantic Edge is just lovely! read more

Okay so i have mixed feelings over this restaurant. First off the view and the ambience was enjoyable. The male attendant was very polite. Now the food... my husband and I ordered as an appetizer the braised short rib rellenas. I think the tittle of this dish is kind of misleading because the truth is that it was a stuffed potato with a little bit of short rib. This dish I'll give 1/5 simply because they didn't seasoned the potato with a single ounce of salt, it was very bland honestly. As main course I ordered the whole snapper and it was ok didn't have anything extraordinary for a $34 dollar dish. My husband had the Hibiscus Swordfish and it was outstanding.... but not the fish.. the fish was ok the star of the dish was the Faro. The flavor was so amazing that you could've eat it by itself. Would i come back??? Honestly just to order Faro by itself other than that, there are plenty of oceanfront restaurants in Islamorada that you could get a tastier dish for a better price! read more

When you walk into this spot, you're thinking you're going to have one of the better meals of your life. The presentation, ambiance, and allure of the Cheeca Lodge all set it up for that... Aside from the cocktails (which were done PERFECTLY), Atlantic's Edge was just "ok." Food wasn't anything special, the service wasn't bad at all (Ben was great), but I guess we were just expecting better. The taste was bland of my seafood pasta, and the appetizer of Grilled Octopus was REALLY small. Portion-to-price ratio isn't too good here, but if that doesn't bother you, you might enjoy it. Also (this doesn't bother me at all) but the nearby Tiki Bar outside allows smoking -- so if you don't like a cigarette and cigar smell, you might not want to eat here. read more

Hugely disappointing. We had dinner here upon arrival our first night. We ordered a $125 bottle of red wine (Shafer Relentless) and were brought glasses that were either juice glasses or small white wine glasses. I was surprised as they do have a fairly nice wine list. When I asked for red wine glasses, I was first told that they didn't have any and then when I noticed red wine glasses being used by the other diners was told that they didn't have any clean ones. Finally they agreed to go clean a pair for us. The food was below average. Soupy pasta with seafood. Nothing wonderful. The next morning for breakfast we were seated inside. We were one of only two tables of people seated inside. We sat for 15 minutes without seeing a server or busboy. Empty water glasses. The other table other table apparently had a different server who came out no less than four times joking and chatting with the customers while we waited and waited staring at empty water glasses and feeling ignored. Finally we complained to the hostess who walked to the back of the restaurant. She didn't come back to us with an explanation, didn't offer to fill our water glasses, just walked the other way avoiding our table back to the hostess station. Finally after waiting another 5 or 10 minutes without service, when we asked the hostess to talk to the manager. She said "he's over there." Her demenour was like --go tell him. He's not gonna care either. The manager just kind of shrugged like he has heard it before. We walked out after more than 20 min with no service. We never returned to dine on the premises. The entire experience put a damper on the weekend and a bad taste in my mouth for Cheeca in general. Next time, we will try Hawk's Cay. read more

I don't write many Yelp reviews, and when I write a negative one it's not because I wish to harm the business or because I seek some sort of compensation. I write the following review with the goal of informing and cautioning future patrons regarding food and service quality at this establishment. I ordered the fish sandwich here on 1/1/17. Since Atlantic's Edge is in the Keys I was expecting high quality fish. Imagine my surprise when, a few bites into what I initially thought was a tasty sandwich, I felt something that seemed off, texture-wise. Imagine my further surprise when what I thought was a bone at first ended up being a staple. Yes - a staple. I wish I had taken a photo of it. Now I get it - things happen with regard to variations in quality and preparation. However, this staple could have actually caused me serious bodily injury. The staff response to this situation was what really irked me and caused me to write this review. The server and manager were both appropriately surprised that my food contained school supplies, and did offer to comp my lunch. They brought a replacement chicken sandwich that was actually pretty tasty. But when the bill came, they still charged me for my drink! And they charged my partner for his full lunch and drink, too. I'm not one to nickel and dime things, but let's face it. The restaurant dodged a bullet here since I didn't seriously injure myself - if they were interested in optimizing their service they would, on the spot, say to us, "this one's on us" or "we are so, so sorry, you obviously don't have to pay." Needless to say - we were mortified by this experience. This restaurant has a long way to go if they want to offer their customers the quality food and service they deserve. read more

Awesome from the moment we walked into the lobby!! Champagne and smiles. Chose the Atlantic Edge location for dinner and loved every aspect of it. The view was outstanding with tiki torches ablaze throughout the location. Service was superb and professional. Ben went through all the specials and made it difficult to choose. Well worth every penny!!! Do not forget to hit their Tiki bar after or before your meal. Great bar Team with even tastier drinks. Perfect gem hidden away. I always wanted to try this restaurant but was told it was reserved for guests only!! Not True. Great place to stop in your way north or south. Beautiful grounds. Embarrassing failure sums this place up. Food is only okay but the service is a complete mess. Staff is clearly untrained and have no idea what they are doing. Waitresses are rude and it takes forever to get drinks and food. Our waiters and waitresses didn't know their own menus and weren't even professional enough to introduce themselves at the beginning of service. Our one waitress attempted to read us the specials and then hesitated before saying there are no specials. Clearly there were specials she just didn't know them. They lack organization to the point where five servers will come up to us thinking they are our servers. No one knows their assignments. Scenery and atmosphere are phenomenal but service is a disaster. We ate here many times throughout our stay and the service was consistently poor read more

We read mixed reviews prior to dining, and should have listened to the bad ones. We had 8:15 dinner reservations for a party of 5. Everything seemed great for the first hour through our salads course, and then we waited another hour for our entrees. It took over 2 hours to receive them. This was not a long leisurely meal, as other tables received their food within an hour all around us. When we did receive them, 2 out of the 5 we're not what we ordered. They even ran out of bread which we asked for more of while waiting. They didn't offer to bring anything else out in its place. Overall the worst fine dining experience I've ever had - don't waste your money and more importantly your time!!! read more

Under $100 no liquor with one appetizer, 2 entrees and one dessert ~Decor High end resort. The weather was perfect so we sat outside.... so decor was the beach.. perfect ~Atmosphere Really relaxed and calm, was a bit busy but didn't feel crowded ~Food Delicious!! Appetizer- Mussels with a spicy ginger & lemongrass broth.. was so good the waitress brought more bread to sop up the broth (didn't even ask she just brought more..good service point). the waitress told us it was enough to share and boy was it.. about 30 mussels + broth & bread. Entree-Apricot Glazed Mahi,Yukon Puree, Broccolini, Corn, Coconut Curry Sauce. Apricot glaze had a hint of sweetness and caramel flavor. but by far the coconut curry sauce was the best part.. a bit spicy with coconut milk to calm the fire. Seafood Pasta. so much food! a large bowl of pasta with clams, mussels, mahi, scallops sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.. it was cooked to perfection. Dessert-Got the Mixed berry crumble. Lots of berries but was a bit watery.. and sub the almond ice cream for vanilla... it just goes better. ~Service What it should be.. I never had a empty water glass... or depletion of bread. We made a reservation 2 month before our 25th anniversary. We ask to prepare for us a nice table with a nice view next to the sea in order to celebrate our special occasion - something special for a special evening. And we were told they will take care of. When we arrived we were escorted to a bad table somewhere in the back, cramped in between two groups of people and no nice view at all. When we explained that this is not what we had in mind when we made the reservation and if they don't have another table we were told this is the only table and if we don't like it we can sit somewhere on garden chairs in front of the restaurant. So we asked if can speak to the manager. We asked him if this is how they handle special occasions and he told us that they never got any information for a special request. He was friendly and it seemed that he was willing to help but he also could not offer something nice except a table inside or at the sushi bar. Since the mood was already ruined we left. They really ruined our special evening. We guess that they don't care about special requests since they think they will have enough guests anyway. So if you plan something special you better go somewhere else. read more

BIG disappointment. Food is mediocre at best and way overpriced and service is snail pace slow. Ordered crab cakes that were mostly filler. They had barely any crab and were over cooked. Ordered a strip steak medium well and it arrived to table extra well. Mashed potatoes were cold. Waitress never asked if we were satisfied. To sum it up take your money else where. read more

The two stars is because we ate here twice in one day. The first experience was a lunchtime meal and was a pleasant one. Jean was out waiter and was super nice and helpful. The food was decent albeit a little pricey but that comes with resort territory. We'd made a reservation for dinner weeks prior to our stay and were excited. I really should've checked the YELP reviews beforehand. Everyone that mentions poor service and poor quality food is correct. The waiter was very careless, not bothering to correctly explain the specials. For instance, we ordered the soup of the day and the ceviche. Both were super spicy! We ended up returning the dish because of this but it could've been avoided. The meal went from bad to worse. We were served items such as truffle macaroni and cheese and looked and tasted like velveeta. The seafood pasta was literally noodles with some mussels and shrimp thrown into a watered down thin almost non existent sauce. Disgusting. Not to mention the waiter never came back to check on us. Horrible service at a supposed classy upscale restaurant. This place is pricey and it was little better than diner food. We were offered dessert and chose the lava cake. It came out ICE COLD with the middle "lava" being almost frozen. Mediocre apologies from the Manager were worth every little and the meal ended with a very dark cloud over the start of our trip. The GM of this restaurant should be ashamed. Visit for yourself but beware that when guests talk about the poor service and food, it's not just empty complaints. read more

We ordered the special of the day. A lobster tail and three tenderloins, vegetables and a choice of potatoes. The waitress did not tell us the price of the specials. Well, the lobster was so dry that it was impossible to remove it from the shell. The three small tenderloins were also very dry. The plate was probably sitting under the heating light for at least 10 minutes. The vegetables we overcooked and the little potatoes hard as a rock. The price for this dish was $68. Way overpriced even if the plate was wonderful. Plus, there was no soda and no draft beers. How a hotel can have their soda machine and draft beer broken on a Saturday night. We went here on our wedding anniversary in early March, 2015. The food was good but the servers and wait staff were all confused. The people at the table next to us were congratulated on their wedding anniversary - which it wasn't. No one figured it out and congratulated us. Appetizers and entrees were consistently being brought to the wrong tables: either we were being given another tables' order or they were getting ours. Our glasses of bottled water were topped off with tap water a few times. My wife mentioned our anniversary when ordering dessert, but no special attention was given. One would expect a fantastic meal at a beautiful seaside restaurant at a very expensive resort, unfortunately that did not occur. While the menu is quite appealing the food and the service were very disappointing, especially at the expense. Five of us started off with the seafood tower which was more expensive than Manhattan yet was proportioned for two with the smallest oysters I've ever seen. The filet mignon was excellent but the strip steak was partially inedible due to gristle. The baked potato was served cold and the Macaroni and cheese with truffles was disgusting. The service was unacceptable as the server forgot ones salad and never refilled water until we chased him down. The various desserts were only average. Bottom line if you want a great meal at Manhattan prices don't eat here. If you want to overpay to eat by the sea get the filet or fish. read more

We had breakfast here each day we were at the Cheeca. I was a huge fan of the eggs benedict. The view from the outdoor seating was incredible. And the service was outstanding. It was a great place to start the day and have a leisurely breakfast. The only reason I havent given it a higher rating is that it is a bit pricey for what you get. read more
