Atlas Plumbing is merging with Lightfoot Mechanical out of Weatherford. If you go to the Atlas website, your are transferred to the Lightfoot customer service site with no explanation. Not a smooth transition but at least the guys from the Atlas location were dispatched to my home. The guys cleared my clogged main line and provided me with a usb stick detailing the work being done. So, our house was built in 1948. I have no clue how those people lived 60 years ago but CLEARLY they had almost no possessions because the closet space in these old cottage-y houses is nearly non-existant. I mean, sheeit. One of my first dreams when moving into our house 1 year ago was to redo the kitchen pantry/laundry area/hot water heater closet. Yes, all of that in a space that most people have for just their pantry in modern homes. The biggest space sucker was the hot water heater... and being 10+ years old it was probably going to need to be replaced before too long. We consulted with tankless hot water heater installers and decided that Rinnai was the brand we wanted to use. From the Rinnai website we found Atlas to be the top rated company in the Dallas area and we phoned 'em up. The owner himself came to the house to do the estimate. He was a professional looking dude who really seemed to know what he was talking about. He knew how many BTU's we needed to tell the gas company we needed. He had knowledgeable opinions about what size we needed and placement of the new machine (we opted for outside the house). Their estimate was on par for others we'd gotten so we hired them. The installation of the tankless took one day and went very smoothly. The plumbers were very professional, super clean and even had some kind suggestions for completing other half-assed home improvement projects we had started (who knew you couldn't drill through asbestos siding??). All in all, it kinda felt like your dad was over at the house taking care of a project you needed done... only he wanted a fat ass check at the end of it and not just dinner and a six pack of beer. If I could I would put no stars on here except for the fact that one guy we had the week before did a good job. Today I was promised the same person and two other guys showed up. they came to replace two facets in the one bathroom and left with a wall torn out and a leak bigger than the one they came to fix. They tracked in and out with no shoe covering and charged me for time they sat in the truck. They turned off the water to the house and I asked the same person to turn it back on because we have a older house didn't want the pressure too high. That didn't happened, the other person turned it back on. That may of caused the problem because soon after water was dropping on my water heater on the floor below. On top of that they inflated the time spent And charged over $800. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ATLAS PLUMBING AT ALL. read more

Prompt response, but poor service. I called with two very specific jobs in mind. Needed to replace a copper line that went to my dishwasher that had cracked. I specifically requested a flexible dishwasher water line be used so I wouldn't have this problem again with the copper line. When they came, they didn't have any dishwasher water lines and they didn't want to 'waste my money' going to get one. So they replaced my broken copper line with a new copper line and gave me enough extra copper that the dishwasher doesn't quite fit in the space anymore. The other job I requested was to handle a faucet leak in the same location. I understand that the faucet leak is inside the faucet itself so could be handled by warranty from the manufacturer, but that didn't stop them from spending time swapping out supply lines that fed the faucet unnecessarily. Again, they 'didn't want me to waste money' on something the manufacturer could fix. The result is that the faucet is now in worse shape than it was before they attempted to fix it (it now wobbles freely from its base). In the end, I felt like I wasted my money on a couple of solutions I didn't ask for, that are in some ways improved but mostly just a disappointment. The bill was 2-3x what anyone would've predicted for the work I described. After complaining, I got a small discount on the labor, but not enough that I am likely to use their services again. I had a great experience with them for a few small jobs back in 2013, but I did not feel like I got the same value in 2020. They offered to come out for free for follow-up work if I got the parts needed to finish the jobs, but that is too small a consolation for my disappointment. Edited to add: the same evening I ended up having to go to Home Depot to buy a new faucet and just installed it myself (which was a major pain). The old faucet was throughly destroyed. Not their fault exactly, since it was already pretty well out of shape, but it was significantly worse after they messed with it. They suggested I could get it repaired under Moen's lifetime warranty, but that was not useful for me since I wasn't the original owner. I will leave the review at 2 stars because the new shut-off valves were easier to work with, but no way they were worth what I paid for them. read more

I had to get some work done under my kitchen sink last week. The guy that came out to work on it last week apparently didn't finish the job. They came back out today and fixed the problem and didn't charge me anything. They even did a few more things without charging me. I've used Atlas Pluming for years now and I could not be more pleased with their service. They have repaired several issue with my old house's pluming and each time they have did the jobs professionally. They are always in communication with me from the time they leave the office to the time they arrive. They inform me of all the work and parts that maybe needed before they began the job and immediately alert me to any surprises that may pop up when working on these old pluming's. Their on time, fast and cleanup after the job is done. You know you hate to have to call a plumber if you can't fix it yourself. STAY AWAY!!! ZERO STARS!!! I just want to briefly share my experience. I chose to do business with this company because of the reviews and their A+ BBB rating. I feel I must give my feedback. Hopefully I can spare someone else the trouble. Where do I begin? This company and its owner are wrong on so many levels. Very disrespectful to the customer and ZERO people skills. First of all they charge you $$ just to come out to your home and diagnose your problem and give you a bid. Pick a different company that will do this for FREE - there are many licenced/bonded and A+ BBB companies in the DFW that will do this for free. Secondly they bill you by the hour, not by the job. This is where they can really run up your bill. Other reputable companies will do plumbing work for a flat rate with no hidden expenses. When I first called Atlas I was impressed to speak to the owner Sonny who quoted me a price on the phone to install a new shower faucet, raise the drain up an inch, and move the valve up and over. We were doing a shower remodel. The wall was already opened up and was ready for the plumbing work to be done. We wanted the faucet installed so that we could build the wall up around it. Sonny quoted me $300-$400. When the actual plumber came out he did the work - minus raising the drain because he told me the drain didn't need to be raised mind you- he gave me a bill that was just a shade under $600. I asked him why was it so much more expensive than what Sonny had quoted me. The response was that he had brought a second plumber with him so they could do the work in half the time. So I had to pay for the extra plumber's time/labor. It would have taken him twice as long if he didn't bring the second plumber so he claimed. Feeling as though I had been taken advantage of, I paid the man and decided I would never do business with Atlas plumbing again. I'd just chalk it up to a loss and move on. Once we had the new shower wall up we called a new plumber to hook the faucet up for us. He could not get it to work properly. He said that the faucet valve was defective and should have been tested by Atlas before they billed me. I really did not want to do business with Atlas again so I called another plumber for 2nd opinion. It was the same verdict. Defective faucet valve should have been tested by Atlas. Then, they told me how to fix my problem: remove the defective shower faucet valve and replace it with a new one that is not defective. That made sense to me. They also recommended I call Atlas to see if they would help, considering I paid them $600 already to install this faucet. So I called Atlas to tell them I had a problem and to see if they would offer any solution. I was told they would give the message to the owner Sonny and he would call me to discuss. Now Sonny called me the next day. I was initially glad he called me so quick so we could talk about the situation and see what solution options we could come up with. However Sonny quickly let me know in a rude way that his company was not responsible for the defective valve. I purchased it from Lowe's and I should take it back to them. He was very crass telling me that it's not his fault and he is not just going to "open up his wallet and give me his money." I was appalled. Is this the way you want a plumber to talk to you when you have a problem? I tried to reason with him which was a mistake because it was pointless. I told him I'm not asking for any money back. I'm saying I have a problem and I'm interested in getting it fixed. He said well it certainly would not be covered by any warranty on his company's work. I said that's fine. I just want you to tell me what you would charge to fix the problem. He said he would see if he could get Curtis to come back out and look at it because he is the one who installed it for me. I said okay sounds good. After thinking about how my last conversation with Sonny went I became more and more unhappy. I decided to call him back to tell him I was unhappy with his response to my problem. I wanted to give him one last chance to show me he can offer an ounce of customer service. He again was rude and crass. I told him I will not do any further business with his company and to not bother sending Curtis out to my home. I also told him I would file a complaint against him with the BBB. He proceeded to call me an A@@hole and hung up on me. Now, if that sounds like the kind of customer service you would like then by all means call Atlas Plumbing for all your plumbing needs. Again, I don't want any money back from these people. I'v owned my 1967 house now since 2012. I've had plumbers for several occasions though the past 4 years, some of which were just one guy, more like a handyman, some were a couple man operation, and some were big companies. Out of all of them, I can say that Atlas has impressed me the most. Let me tell you why. My story is a bit long but I would love to save some other homeowners headache and trouble in this same situation. I just had a gas leak - apparently in 1967 they didn't really have anything else to go off of but black iron pipe. Well, when that's laid down underground, it starts to rust. So here I am, sitting in my yard, smelling rotten eggs, and wondering if my house is going to be the next on the news with "HOUSE EXPLODES" as the headline. I called Atmos, they confirmed and shut off the gas to the house. Yay. No hot water, no cooking. Wife and Kid use both those things a lot. I called Legacy Plumbing. After the guy confirmed that the leak was certainly outside between the meter and the house and not inside the house, he gave me the lowdown. $5,300 for 80 feet of poly pipe, risers, hand dug trench, and permit. And over a week lead time. Also tried to sell me on some stupid gold membership that allowed me to have no service fees and gave me a "discount". I didn't feel like they were really focusing on my issue - it was about the sale of me for a long term contract. I had to pay them 400 dollars to do this work and give me the bid. Sad. I called three more places: Dallas Plumbing, AtomicAZ, and Atlas. The pricing on these three folks were roughly the same - $3,800 - $4,000. Dallas just emailed the quote, but I felt like I was just another guy calling for help and they had plenty going on. Guy from AtomicAZ came out and walked through everything with me. Also seemed great. But his timeline was a day later. Can't fault him there - I called him out of the blue, and he had other stuff scheduled. I like the fact he made an effort to come and sit with me and give a quote. I would check with this guy if you are in a pinch. However, Sonny, the owner of Atlas, called me directly and talked to me about what was going on. He was able to give me a lot of comfort on the phone that he knew what was going on and they would be able to handle it. He alerted me to the fact that the city of Dallas requires permits and all applicances hooked up would be subject to inspection and potential need for safety upgrades. To me, the most important thing other than not spending a fortune was that he could have his guys out there tomorrow digging and would have me up with gas a whole day earlier than everyone else. So I said yes. I am glad I did. Sonny's team came out the next morning to dig the trench. I was surprised that it wasn't just a couple more day laborers from off the corner. I talked to these two African American gentleman and they had been working for Sonny for several years. Apparently their grandfather also worked for Sonny doing the same work. I loved that fact. Sonny himself showed up that morning and inspected the house. We looked at the appliances. Sure enough, some appeared to need upgrades. However, Sonny was pretty connected and mentioned he would call some of the inspectors and get an idea of what might pass or not so he wouldn't spend my money without need. The trench was dug that day (75 feet!) and the plumbing crew showed the next morning. I had mentioned in passing to Sonny the day before that while we were replacing everything, I would like to put a gas connection for a grill at the house. I mentioned it to the crew, and they didn't have the fitting - but since I wanted it, Sonny drove the fitting up to my house from Dallas - he was apologetic, but this was totally on me - I didn't make it a point, it was more me musing than anything else. So I was impressed he would do something so small to make me happy. I chatted with the plumber doing the piping as well - I am a chatty guy :-) - and again, was surprised to learn that this plumber had worked for sonny over 20 years he said. I loved that. Obviously Sonny was a great boss and a decent man to have such apparently loyal employees. The rest of the project went fine. Everything was upgraded that absolutely needed it, the inspection was green tagged with no issues, and gas was on the morning of the third day since they started. Given the size of the job, I think this was amazing. Do youself a favor and call him first, and don't worry about if its the right decision. I know I will be calling him first next time, and not worrying anymore in the future. read more

I had a really inconvenient plumbing issue recently in my home. Sewage was backing into our tub and shower stall due to a clog. I have AHS insurance so naturally I called them right away. They set me up with a company that would only be able to come help solve the trouble after 2 days. Fine . I patiently waited. Upon arrival the technician was unequipped to perform the fix. He left and rescheduled I come back another 2 days later . Resolved the issue. A day later the water started to back up again. I called the company and they were unwilling to work with me. That's when I reached out to atlas plumbing. They were able to send someone in 2 hours!!! All the way to McKinney. Daniel arrived and he had cameras and different equipment ready to make the repairs. Upon further investigation he found roots in the sewer line . He went straight to work and cleared up all the roots! No up selling me into getting a more expensive job done. The simple fix was to cut a shrub near that line . Yes I had a slight damaged pipe but it won't affect my day to day. When I have funds I can repair it anytime. And problem solved . Thank you Atlas plumbing for taking the time to help me solve this disgusting issue. Couldn't believe my life was on hold simply because I couldn't flush the toilet! I just moved to Dallas, and was unfortunate enough to need a plumber right away for a broken kitchen faucet and garbage disposal (ugh). I felt a little helpless. I found Atlas through Angie's List. What I liked, and why I'm taking the time to write a review, is how they treated me with respect from the beginning. As a single woman, I am often worried about service companies taking advantage of me. Not these guys -- they were helpful and put me at ease from the first phone call. I spoke with Ben, and he explained the entire process and pricing model over the phone, and put no pressure on me to go with their company. I felt I could trust them, so I hired them to come do the work. All went smoothly. They were professional, and I felt the price they charged was very reasonable. I hope I don't have to deal with any more issues any time soon, but if that happens -- I'll definitely call these guys again. read more

All ok", I went into my kitchen that night to find it flooded, water gushing out all over. It took me 2 hours to sweep all the water out and dry the floor with towels! Despite Sonny, the owner, telling me that he would not cash my check, he did! When I called him on that, he said he did the work. If that is how he does the work, it is pretty sorry. No class. They were very professional and competent. They very clearly were experienced. They fixed my plumbing issues (replaced a garbage disposal, I provided the replacecment, and replaced a shower spigot). However, they overcharge. They sent 2 people for a 1 person job (the second man mostly stood there, occasionally handing the first man something) and charged me for both. They also charged me for 1 hour 15 minutes of work. I had started a timer when they walked in the door, and they were done at 52 minutes. When I pointed this out, they grudgingly took the cost down a little (still charging me nearly double what the estimate was). I'm not sure if I would use them again because of this. read more

Called Atlas based on reviews for a clogged sink line that I could not fix. I had rented a snake from Home Depot and been on the roof with it and under the sink. But this sink was interior location with no exterior clean out and I could not make the various snakes (owned and rented) worth their way past a turn or elbow in the wall. They estimated same day arrival between 2 and 4 and arrived around 3pm. Dan and his assistant tried roof and it was a no go just like my attempt. They were successful going under the sink. Their snake had a U-joint, or drop head, attachment which made it turn the corner that my rented unit could not. Once they got it working they put at least 75' of snake through the pipe and busted out the clog. Total price was just under $250. I wish it was less, but am glad it was not more. Last night my kitchen sink had a puncture through one of the old chrome drain pipes, and I knew it was time to call the plumber. My usual plumber was unavailable this week, so I went to Yelp in search of another. I saw that an employee of Atlas had responded to another users negative review here. The Atlas Plumbing representative responded to my satisfaction, so I decided to give them a chance. I'm really glad I did! The person answering the phone was friendly, efficient and helpful. She was up front with the costs of the service call, as well as billing every quarter hr plus parts and labor. The two gentlemen that came to my house were courteous, and prepared. They brought extra paper towels to clean up any water and mess, and they brought all the tools needed to do the job the first time; they didn't have to make unnecessary trips to the truck to get something they needed. I could tell I was watching two professionals because they did everything so quickly and neatly. They had to replace all of the pipes under the sink (they were all chrome and falling apart), as well as the baskets in the sink . They also had to snake the line to make sure there were no additional clogs. Before leaving they made sure the area was clear of debris, and advised that I keep the cabinets open to let them air dry from the moisture. They were at my house just under an hour. When I received my bill, it was exactly what I thought it was going to be based off the conversation during scheduling. I'm so excited now that my sink drains quickly, and it has NO LEAKS! Atlas Plumbing provided an excellent service, and I will be happy to use them again in the future. read more

After getting a $16,000+ estimate of work and repairs from another plumber, I called Atlas to get a second opinion. Ben spent a significant amount of time walking through the video diagnosis performed by the first plumber and talked me through my best and worst case scenarios (all of which were much less than $16,000). His crew arrived at my house a couple hours later and began to perform repairs. After about an hour of work, the technicians had completely resolved the issue and my total bill was under $400. Needless to say, my wife and I were ecstatic with the service and professionalism demonstrated by the entire Atlas team. read more

I'm the property manager of an apartment complex in the Uptown area (Dallas). I have to say, Altas is even far better than ATMOS Energy! TWICE Atmos came out and shut off the gas because they detected a gas leak. TWICE Atlas came out, ran the same type of pressure test and showed that ATMOS Energy was wrong about the leak, which greatly inconvenienced my tenants and me, of course. The guys at Atlas Plumbing are always extremely professional (and prompt, which is a nice change). They're always good to talk the client through the problem and help them understand the work that needs to be done, why it needs to be done and what to do to prevent future issues. They aren't cheap BUT you'll only have to have them out ONCE. There are "bargain plumbers" out there but you're not going to get the type of service you get from Atlas. Not to mention, go with a "bargain plumber," and you generally end up having to pay another plumber to come out at a later date for the same problem who will fix it right and not just slap some duck tape on it. read more

This was recommended in "Best Pick Reports" for the Dallas area, but we had a rather different experience. We called to schedule a service call to figure out if/why our toilet was leaking and were told that it would be $49.95 to come and diagnose the problem and provide a quote. Expensive? a bit, but we decided to go for it. They show up, spend 10 minutes figuring out what the problem is, give an estimate of about $200 for parts and labor, go out to their truck to get parts, and come back saying it might be more than the quoted price because they charge $36 for every 15 minutes they are at your house, and (this was the kicker for us) the timer starts counting the minute they pull up to your house, even when they haven't yet made a diagnosis (something we thought was included in the $49.95 service call) or started any actual repair work. And then they said 'This is how it's done by all the companies - $40 or $50 just to show up, and X amount for the time that's spent. The longer we keep debating this issue the more it's going to cost you.' Perhaps this is standard business in the plumbing industry, but it wasn't how it was explained to us initially. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because they had the decency to not charge us for their visit when we decided not to do business with them because of the confusion. read more

Sonny and his crew are by far the most professional, articulate, clean, respectful, and caring (yes, caring!) contractors that I have ever hired. A different plumber was in my home two days before and spent less than 15 minutes and just told me that he didn't know what was wrong except that I have a lot of mold and need a water restoration company to which he referred me (I find out later that he gets $300 from the water restoration company if I hire them---no ethics!!). Thank goodness I called Atlas Plumbing!!! I called after hours on Tuesday and left a message and on Wednesday morning Sonny (the owner) called me back and spent the time talking through the issue with me. He sent Dan and Miguel out that afternoon. In 10 minutes they saw what was wrong and fixed it in a half hour!!!!! They also assured me that while I probably have some mildew, no mold. Dan has been a plumber for 30 years and has seen lots of mold and assured me that I do not have it. Anyway, I can't say enough about this organization. Sonny called me later that afternoon as a follow-up. I am a single professional who is very skeptical and cautious about trusting care salesman, contractors, etc. This crew won me over. Yesterday I had the pleasure of waiting for Atlas Plumbing to show up and then paying over double what I expected. I was originally assigned a 10-12 morning time slot, but then received 2 phone calls delaying that till 1:30 when their guys showed up. I needed them to unstop an upstairs sink drain line that 2 sinks were connected into. I suggested that the plumbers access the lines from a readily accessible sink line in a restroom. They decided they didn't like that idea and wanted to look for a stack vent to go down on the roof. After exploring that option, they decided my idea was better (about an hour later). They ended up running their auger down the main 1 1/2 " sink line and said they encountered a grease buildup about 30 feet in. So an hour and a half later they presented me with a bill for $ 522. This was over double what I expected. I had been told by their dispatch that there would be a $79 trip charge and $42 charge per quarter hour. They ended up charging me the $79 trip charge, but $ 63 per quarter hour, because they had 2 guys, and a $ 25 Auger rental charge. I contacted the Owner to express my displeasure at being overcharged. Ben called me the next day basically to explain their charges. He said while they did quote me a rate for just 1 guy, he was glad they sent 2 because they needed 2 guys to carry their Auger up the stairs to the 2nd floor and would of had to come back if that guy hadn't been there. We discussed it further, but it went nowhere and now I'm out the $522 for something that shouldn't of cost over $250. On a positive note, Eddie and his helper made sure they cleaned up after themselves, which was much appreciated. I will also point out that Eddie told me that Atlas would only warranty their work for 1 day. In my conversation with Ben, he extended that to 30 days. read more

Atlas Plumbing is way over priced. I called them to install a shower head that I wasn't sure if I could install myself. It turns out I could have installed it myself. I was charged over $200 for a short and easy job that I could have done myself. I won't be using them again. read more

Terrible experience because NOBODY SHOWED UP & NOBODY CALLED TO NOTIFY ME. I ended up having to call the front desk who gave me a lot of attitude, and also said there was an "emergency". Very poor customer service, very disorganized company. read more

Imagine pulling up to your pro-golfer boss's house at 6am in the middle of February to take him to the airport, only to find him using a squeegee in the master bedroom due to a busted frozen pipe and water pouring in from under the floorboards. Once the city turned off the water it was time to call a plumber. First company I called didn't answer, so I called Atlas Plumbing and Ben answered immediately. Arrangements were made for 10am the next day and by the time I arrived, Ben and the fabulous Atlas crew had already fixed the problem. I would not recommend Atlas Plumbing. The representative that arrived at my house this morning was unfriendly from the get go. In addition, he was not in good physical condition which makes it difficult to climb into an attic and walk around. He was breathing heavily just walking up to my door from the van. He proceeded to tell me he couldn't get to my water heater although plumbers have made it in the past and never commented about it being difficult to reach. He was here for about 10 minutes, 5 of which were spent getting up the attic stairs. read more

What a scam place. Charge $168 per hour. They quote their fees at $42 per quarter hour so it doesn't sound as bad. Charged me $650 to replace a leaking shower valve cartridge and look at a hot water heater that didn't work. The hourly fees start the minute their truck pulls into your driveway not the time actually doing plumbing work. I was billed $168 per hour while he was standing around, doing paper work, flirting with our nanny and talking to me on the phone about what needed to be done. He even left my house to go get the part and says he deducted 30 min for travel time. My problem is that there is no way he could have gone to get a part and be back in 30 min. I do not live anywhere close to a plumbing supply store. Probably made a stop at the Golden Arches for lunch at my expense. There were no repairs on the water heater because it was under warranty. Replacement of the valve should take about 20 min for a plumber to do. Will never recommend this company. Consumers stay away! read more

My old hot water heater was about 17 years old and finally gave way, leaking into the garage, and ultimately into the house. I found Atlas on Angie's List and upon calling several companies, found pricing and availability were similar to what other A-rated companies offered. While I was not able to get same-day service with any a-rated company, Atlas worked me in for the next day I had available. Sonny was extremely informative on details of cost, estimated time of work involved, and options for a pump installation to get hot water to my faucet without wasting gallons trying to get hot water flowing. I did not feel pressured or up-sold, and what the crew did while here was exactly as described. Additionally, Sonny advised me of a coupon offering through Angie's list that would defer some of the cost of the work I needed done. I would definitely use Atlas for future plumbing needs, and recommend them to anyone in this service area! read more
