Party Planners beware!!!! I took my daughter and 16 of her friends for a birthday party, and sadly the experience did not go as planned! Starting from initial booking, I was called back a week later to be told the party room was double booked because someone "forgot to put the other party in the book", so the original time I was told could no longer be honored. Ok, fine, we made the new time work. I was told that anyone who STEPPED FOOT into the party room would be charged as a party attendant. This included parents who were simply coming to pick their children up after the movie (during pizza and cake) and parents who independently paid for their own tickets and concessions (which I had a total of 7 do on their own) Our party attendant was super nice and I felt as though she was overwhelmed. I was told she would be in the theater at all times of the movie, but that was not the case. One of the children did not receive her popcorn/drink pack at the beginning, and I had to give her mine because I did not want to leave the children in the theater unattended to go find her. Children were meant to have a choice of soda with their popcorn, but the packs were prepared before our arrival and they all received water instead. I was told they would get soda during the pizza, and that the water was easier to prepare ahead of time. At the moment, this did not bother me, but it becomes relevant later on in the story. As far as the movie itself went, everything was fine. No complaints there. Movie ended at 4:25 pm, and pizza was meant to begin at 4:30pm. Despite the pizzeria being right next door to the theater, it was late and did not arrive for another 20/25 minutes. When the party was booked, over the phone, I was asked for an approximate number of attendees. I said 21. I was told I would be called a few days in advance for the final headcount. I was not contacted. Again, this is relevant information. 4 parents stayed after the movie, as they were all carpooling to bring the children home after the pizza and cake. As directed when I booked, these parents DID NOT enter the party room. They sat on folding chairs in the hallway waiting for their children. They did not partake in pizza, beverages, or cupcakes. 3 pizzas were ordered for my party. There was not enough pizza for each child to have a second slice, despite seconds being offered to them. I was not told how many slices per child were included in the price, but I will admit that I also did not ask, so I supposed that is on me. However, I assumed 2 slices per attendee was the norm. When it was time to "settle up", the attendant informed me that her boss was requiring that she charge me for the 4 adults that had stayed behind to pick up their children. Remember, these 4 adults had already paid for their own ticket to the movies! And also bought their own popcorn and their own drinks. Not to mention, extra snacks and drinks for their kids! The theater had already made money on them! At this point, I was embarrassed, and annoyed that I was missing time with my daughter's party. I explained that these parents had paid for their own admission, and that it was crazy to think I would pay AGAIN for their tickets, and the snack boxes they did not receive or the pizza they did not receive. There wasn't even enough pizza for the children there, let alone to give to the adults! I did not want to argue with the attendant, as I knew it was not her fault, and I requested to speak with her manager. She returns and tells me he will meet with me, but he would not come back to the party room, and wanted to meet with me in the front. Forcing me to LEAVE my child and her friend's unattended. At this point, I meet the manager, Nick, who basically is telling me all the reasons why he is within his right to charge me for the extra people. He was aware that the parents paid for themselves. Aware that they did not enter the room. Aware that they did not eat popcorn, pizza, or drinks provided for the party. And despite being aware of all of this, he still said that I was wrong for allowing them to be in the hallway outside of the party room! He proceeded to tell me that this was all outlined in my contract confirmation (which I did not receive), and that he "should" be charging me for the 21 people, not 17, because that's the number I confirmed. Even though he also knew that I was never called back for a final confirmation. I had to do a search on my email to show him that I did not receive this confirmation. Nick then tells me that he is going to "check the computer" to see if I am correct in saying I did not receive a confirmation. Essentially calling me a liar, but I KNEW I did not receive it, so I had no issue with him checking. Told me he would be back to let me know. 15 minutes later, my attendant came back to me to tell me that he was only going to charge me for the 17 people. $30 for two tickets. I get that that's the going price for movie tickets these days but you'd at least expect a clean theater. The carpets are musty and the air is humid. I still don't get why this place has such bad air quality/circulation. This theater was remodeled after sandy with what seems like a bandaid remodel. Could they not afford ventilation? This movie theater is pretty decent and I never have any problem when coming here. The last time I came was on a Sunday, the first week that Spider-Man: No Way Home came out. As you can see form the picture, it was pretty packed. We were hoping to get tickets at AMC but everything was sold out. This theater gives a cheaper option but I believe it is still as good as AMC as they still have recliner chairs. I'd say that this theater gained slightly more recognition after Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson watched a movie here the day before I came. Who would've thought that they'd be here!!! This theater is actually a lot bigger than I thought. They have a mini arcade area on the left and a the concession stand on the right. Their popcorn is great but after 2-3 cups I noticed how salty tasting it really was and I started swelling. I love their reclining seats but wish they had trays for the snacks....The movie theaters seat a lot of people but the screens themselves are very small (the smallest I've ever been to) so unless you sit in their 1 RPX/3D theater expect small screens. The AC was not turned down enough on a hot day, they had it set to about 78 degrees and I was so warm while watching a movie. It's old but they keep the lobby pretty clean & the theater was decently cleaned. For a $19 movie ticket, I don't think the price matches the service personally to pricey for me. read more

Been coming here for some time now. The theater is always clean and in great shape and the staff is friendly. Most importantly there's not a bad seat in this place ! Comfy and clean red leather theater seating and they run a nice reasonable concession stand. If you buy tickets at the theater there is no convince charge. Online it's about $2 each but worth it to reserve your seats for a movie that may sell out. I don't understand why this place is rated anything less than 5 stars by anyone. read more

Hello, im going to remain anonymous for privacy reasons; but on May 31st me and my friends were kicked out. We were a group of nine, and we went to see the new movie If. We got our tickets then went to theater 4. Now, during previews we were talking; and there was at least 4 people in the front. We were loud but not too loud. The movie started and me and two of my friends went to the bathroom; as we were there my friends got kicked out with no warning. A person complained; me and my friends had to run back in and get our stuff. We are minors and were left unattended and far from our homes;we couldn't even wait outside the studio. Then, one of my friends mom went to talk to the manager who was wearing a pink shir. He said we were cursing loudly (we weren't we we're only saying what the sigma.) The manager said they kick out groups of kids all the time WHICH IS DANGEROUS AND BAD BUSINESS. Luckily some parents were at the pizzeria and filmed what the manager said. This is a small theatre that satisfies the average movie goer. The customer service didn't dazzle me but what movie theatre ever does? The theatre was clean, the line at the concessions was short, and we were able to get good seats last minute. What more could you really ask for at a movie theatre. The place looks a bit outdated from the outside but once your inside you can tell that it's a well kept theatre. It seems like a decent place to go watch a movie. read more

LUXURY, COMFORT, and SOUND is what comes to mind when I sit in the APEX rooms. The seats ruin my experience at any other theater. It's so spacious it's my favorite movie theater experience. My only thing I find both good and bad is the reserved seats. It's good cause I could literally show up a minute before the movie and have the best seat. It's bad cause if plans change you already paid. And you need to get the tickets at least 3 hours before if you want a good seat. It's unfortunate that there might not even be a seat available if you don't buy it in advance unless you sit in the front row which I had to do twice and it's not great. read more

I'm not sure why there are so much bad reviews for this theater, since my experience differed. I had a great time at this theater and the seats were super comfy and reclined all the way back to whichever position suited me most. We watched "Wreck it Ralph 2" and it was great, the kids loved the seats and the movie. The prices were $12 a pop, which is significantly cheaper than most other Theaters. Atrium is a nice, smaller theatre which tends to fill but NOT get over packed. This is especially good on Marvel premier days, when the larger theaters are absolutely mobbed. This theatre is also centrally located and very convenient for Great Kills, Eltingville, & Annadale residents. Staff is friendly and professional and theaters are always clean. I go out of my way to come to this theater. The reclining leather chairs, low prices (compared to other theaters) and fresh snacks that aren't microwaved in a back room make for a nice experience, but the staff are always considerate and nice. They actually interact with my kids when we go, say hello to people passing by, and never see them just "hanging" around doing nothing. The Atrium is a smaller movie theater located in a small strip mall off Arthur kill rd. Having grown up on the island, this used to be the theater to go to. I remember enjoying it but when stadium 16 opened, I started going there as it was newer and more advanced. This seemed more desirable until it became so overcrowded by teens who don't shut up during the movies that I don't go there anymore either. As I have gotten older, I now normally prefer to frequent a theater in jersey before staying on the island. It is a far more pleasant experience; however, not always conceivable for whatever reason. This results in a few trips back to the Atrium here and there. Parking: Parking normally sucks. It's in a strip mall with other stores and spots aren't always easy to find. If you go during the week, it's much easier but on the weekends it is really annoying. Theater: The theater itself is pretty run down. It's pretty much what I remember it being from my childhood, which isn't a great thing. The theaters are laid out weirdly and in places not in order. Makes for finding your theater a bit weird at times and has you wondering if they know how to count. Over the weekend we went to see a movie in theater 3. We walked all over the place and couldn't find it. When we asked they said it was near the front, which we assumed as much because, you know, 1-2...3..., but we couldn't tell it was there because they had games in front of it and when lots of kids are huddled there, it was missed. Concession food is as expected. Overly priced but part of the movie experience. Popcorn was really good! Environment: I stopped going to stadium 16 because of the teenie boppers and it seems like the Atrium has followed suit. I always knew it was kid friendly, but that was younger kids going with adults. Now it seems ramped with teenagers who pay to sit and chat the whole time. While in our movie, a group of kids laughed and screamed and talked at normal level during the whole film. Everyone was shushing them and had to tell them if they didn't stop they'd be escorted out. People pay good money to enjoy themselves after a long week and it ruins the experience to say the least. They need more security walking around in theaters on the weekend nights to ensure a positive experience for all. read more

I went here recently to watch Captain Marvel. Prefer this movie theater instead of the bigger name ones if I'm not going into the city. It's always clean, love the luxury seating - recliners are comfortable and spacious, and hardly long lines at the concession stands. My only issue would be this time is we heard some loud talking/noise from outside the room. read more
