The food had a very rancid taste (the special chef's beef dish - which is really orange beef) & the pork rice dish was also rancid tasting & mushy. The service was good but that is about it. This place is a combination of a restaurant and karaoke spot. It's divided into two main sections…read more The smaller front area is more of a grab-and-go setup. This section includes the restrooms and the kitchen behind the order counter. Here, you'll find a fridge stocked with homemade salsa, cooked beans, cheese, and jello for you to grab. To your right, there's a meat counter where they offer pre-cooked meats -- you can ask them to chop and pack it for you to take home and add to your own meals. They also sell chicharrones in this section. The larger area is for dine-in guests. There's no host or hostess, so you simply walk in and pick any table you like. Each table has a button you can press to call a server when you're ready to order or ask for the check. The menu is extensive. We tried their tacos and a Caldo de Mariscos (seafood soup). The tacos were solid, and I really enjoyed the soup -- it had prawns, small shrimp, clams, mussels, fish, and imitation crab rolls. While I'm usually not a fan of imitation crab, it worked well in this dish. If you'd prefer to skip it, try mentioning it when you order. The soup also included small cubes of carrots, potatoes, and green peas. It was flavorful, not overly spicy, and came with homemade tortillas that had a pleasant natural sweetness. Their tortilla chips stood out -- thick, crunchy, and they held their texture without going soggy. I'm not sure if they fry them in lard, but they were definitely more flavorful than the typical chips served as appetizers at many Mexican restaurants. Our server spoke only Spanish, but we got by using gestures and expressions. Despite the language barrier, her warmth and friendliness came through. She even taught us a few Spanish words and chatted with us like a curious friend, full of smiles and warmth. It was a lovely interaction that added to the experience. We visited around 8 p.m. on a Saturday, and karaoke was in full swing in the dining area. It was a little loud, so keep that in mind -- but if you don't mind the volume, it adds a fun, lively atmosphere. Guests can sing from their tables or head up to the podium with a mic, and lyrics are displayed on multiple screens throughout the room. I'm giving it 4 stars -- the ambiance might not be the most polished, and while the food is very good, it's not quite exceptional. Though, they also do offer flour ones. There are two sides. On the left is a counter for ordering takeout. However, if you want to dine in, walk to the right, and simply pick a table (they are numbered), and perhaps get a staff member's attention if it's busy. Otherwise, there is a little button that you can press to request service. I opted to grab some takeout first, coming back another time to eat here for dinner. As for how their menu works, both the takeout section and the dine in section serve the same massive menu, what you end up getting with each dish may differ slightly. First, the place offers a diverse selection of meats, which you can pair on a plate, by weight, or with tacos, the a choice of corn of flour tortillas (of course go for freshly made corn ones). If you don't want tacos, they have plenty of soups: beef, chicken, pozole, menudo, fish, shrimp, etc. You can get grilled meat platters, enchiladas, burritos, and more. And for any of those, you can choose whatever filling you'd like from their meat (and cheese) selection. Breakfast plates and tacos are also available. For takeout, I opted for Lengua, Cachete, and Chicharron Guisado tacos (corn tortillas), and Enchilada Verdes stuffed with fajita de pollo. Apparently you can choose what cheese you want on top (queso fresco or mozzarella) of your enchiladas, but I think I misunderstood what they were asking when I was ordering, and received mozzarella on mine. For dine-in, we opted for Tripa, Lengua, Cachete, Pastor, and Puerco con nopales tacos, and an order of Caldo de Marisco. Lengua--their lengua is stewed; it is not grilled up before serving though. I would describe the texture as appropriate, but their flavor is on the lighter side compared with other lengua preparations. Still perfectly good in a taco, and it's a good canvas for salsa, onions, cilantro, lime, or whatever also you'd like to put on. Cachete--nice mouth feel for this beef cheek preparation. I suppose it probably the fat, but I prefer the Cachete to their Lengua preparation. Again, the Cachete is seasoned, but lightly, so it's encouraged to add in accompaniments for a bit of extra flavor. Chicharrones Guisado--this stewed pork skin is quite nice, and has a nice chili component to it. It's soft, savory, and has a nice capsaicin component to it. Tripa--they grill/fry the intestines. The result is a mix between browned intestines that are crispy, and some which are a bit gummy. It's a nice mix. Pastor--their marinaded pork is succulent and flavorful, and not dry. Puerco con nopales--stewed pork with nopales; the sourness of the nopales has been mostly eliminated; it has been replaced with chili. But this was the most savory out of the tacos tried. Enchiladas Verdes--I opted to get fajita de pollo. The chicken I enjoyed just as much as the pastor, as both were well seasoned, tender, and not dry at all. The verde wasn't really savory, but more spicy. Not a bad flavor, but not the savory flavor I've been seeking. It came with some rice and beans. Both the rice and beans were lightly seasoned enough to bring out the flavors. The beans reminded me of chunky peanut butter, but of course bean flavored. Pretty creamy while being chunky. The beans come with a couple of chips (made by frying their tortillas). Caldo de Marisco--such a great seafood broth. Nice and red and shrimpy; very savory. Large shrimp, small shrimp, fish, mussels, some clams, baby octopus, and artificial crab slices. Comes with onions, cilantro, lime, and your choice of tortillas. For dinner, they had karaoke going. Lyrics will play on the screens hanging from the walls and the ceiling, and a mic will be available for those who wish to partake. The volume is set to "pretty loud" and it definitely fills the seating area with sound, so conversation can be difficult. Anyways, fun time, flashing lights, yummy food, and a refreshing piña aqua fresca. Parking is a bit tight in the lot at night.

One Colombian group seems to own multiple food trucks in the court - even though the truck names are different and the menus are different. Cooks go back and forth between the related trucks bringing supplies. All of the relevant personnel are Colombian. If they are as good as Ninja Chicken, they are fine fine trucks. * * * How Colombian is Colombian here? a) This is a Spanish only location. The truck signs are in English and that is where the English stops. When I ordered in English, it was clear nobody was understanding me. (They were trying hard). I got the wrong thing. Fortunately the wrong thing was wonderful. (Fried cheese pastries with strawberry dip.) I was happy to have the pastries. b) There are many many Colombians here eating. I only saw one other Anglo person - a middleaged Texas lady linked to the relevant church. (More on the church later). c) ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS, THERE IS A COLOMBIAN BAND PLAYING TROPICALE. Keep in mind that food trucks in South America often come with entertainment. Entertainment is often a guy with an electric console and a ton of loops playing whatever instruments he knows how to play with synthesized backup. That's what this guy was doing. He was good on all of his instruments. I could have listened all day. d) Some of the trucks are associated with El Camino, a Spanish language church on 620. There was a giant pavilion with El Camino signs on the pavilion. There were people wearing El Camino badges in case you wanted to have a dedicated conversation about Christianity. Most of the El Camino people were Colombians. They had an Anglo lady in reserve in case you needed to talk about Christianity in English. El Camino has a very cool slogan " The perfect church for imperfect people." That slogan is right up there on the truck. * * * Good Colombian food. Good Colombian music. Colombian families everywhere. This could have been Queens New York - the epicenter of American Colombian food. Except everything else was Texan. Check the place out. Slightly overcooked, but still juicy and tender, the fish had an excellent flavor. Warning it can be a lot of work to avoid the bones! (one friend had a tough time, while the other had it eaten in just a few minutes) Papusas - Mediocre. Good enough to fill the craving, however not the best showcase for the famous El Salvadoran dish. Good amount of filling and with ok taste. It could use more salt and be cooked a little crisper on the outside. Make sure to ask for the cabbage topping in case they don't bring it out - it was nice to see that the container for the cabbage had a prep date. The cabbage topping was a helpful flavor enhancer for this particular dish. The chicharron was slighly overcooked, dry, but had a good flavor to it.
