Mahi Mahi with tomato bisque soup.

My husband and I ate at Aubrey's for an early Valentine's Dinner. He had center cut sirloin, baked potato and salad. I ordered mahi blackened with pico de gallo, loaded baked potato and rice. Our food was delicious and the server was so nice and professional her name is Cellynn. The manager was very kind and professional. The restaurant was beautiful with low lights and minimal noise. The bread and butter was awesome. We're going back on Prime Rib night.

So this location was picked by convenience and proximity but I had found it ahead of time and knew it looked like a good option. My husband, myself, and another coach walked up the hill from our hotel to the restaurant. We were here on a Wednesday evening around 5:00 p.m.. We did not anticipate having any trouble being seated and we were correct. However, the hostess acted like it was a trouble to seat us and asked if a table would be OK. We said yes. I'm not sure why it was important that we sat at a table as there were very few tables or booths taken. They also have a bar and outside seating so it was not like a table was scarce. Moving on, I had checked out the menu ahead of time and knew there were several salads that were options. As it turned out, the actual menu had even more options than what I had seen on the Yelp menu. I ended up ordering the cranberry chicken salad that I had selected ahead of time but there were several that would have been fine. The coach that accompanied us got an order of 4 wings. They only offer wings on Wednesdays and they are a dollar each. You need to order in quantities of four. My husband got the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries and also got a dinner salad. I was the only one who got a drink and I got my usual Diet Coke at this restaurant. The waiter did a great job of keeping my drink filled. Before my husband even got his dinner salad the waiter offered some fresh bread to the table. We accepted and I'm glad we did. I normally don't eat rolls or bread but I could not turn down a nice, fresh and warm brown bread. It did not need butter and I ate a couple small pieces. It was delicious! My husband's salad looked pretty good and he ate all of it. In a timely fashion, our entrees were brought out. The wings ended up being very nice sized. You can order fried or grilled -and the coach with us got grilled. He only ate 3 and offered me the 4th. I accepted and it was juicy and delicious. It is just the way that I like wings. Baked or grilled just not deep fried. The sauce had a nice little kick to it and I thoroughly enjoyed my wing. My husband ate every bite of his Cajun chicken sandwich. It was a very nice sized chicken breast with a Cajun dry rub on it. It also came with lettuce and tomato. There were some nice looking fries - and a generous portion. He did not end up finishing all of them. My salad was a very generous bed of mixed greens with a nice amount of cut up grilled chicken as well as goat cheese red delicious apples strings, dried cranberries, and pecans. I ordered it with oil and vinegar and it was absolutely delicious. I actually think I said that it was my ideal salad. The waiter brought the bill in a timely fashion, I paid and we were gone. I would definitely come back to this restaurant and even though I'm not a wing eater I just might order the wings! I definitely would get the salad or one of the other salads offered like the steak salad if we lived in the area and came here often. I highly recommend eating at Aubrey's. As a side note or afterthought, the restaurant appears to be a nicer and more upscale restaurant. The wait staff are nicely dressed and the menu well written. However, the prices are very reasonable and other people were dressed casually like us. So I wonder what style restaurant it really aspires to be. It really does not matter, however, as the food will definitely make this place a winner.

Food is OK, but they are not very gluten-free friendly. Because of this, not a place I will visit unless one of my friends so exit.

HONEST FEEDBACK. The…read moreonly thing that took away from the experience was that it was my wife's birthday, which I had included in the reservation, and there wasn't any acknowledgment of it. I asked the hostess about it, and they said they could add a candle to a dessert if we purchased one. I was a little surprised by that, especially considering we were spending around $200 on the meal. Even just a simple birthday greeting from the staff would have been a nice touch and made the experience feel more special. One other note: the Filet Mignon itself does not come with any real sides, just a small microgreen garnish. At this price point, I would expect at least something simple included, like vegetables or a small accompaniment. We've been to other higher-end restaurants where the steak comes with something like carrots or seasonal vegetables, which helps make the plate feel more complete. Having just the steak on a large empty plate made the meal feel a little underwhelming for the price. I'm not trying to compare restaurants, but we've been to other upscale places where they add small touches like a complimentary dessert, a personalized menu saying "Happy Birthday" or "Happy Anniversary," or even a small celebration moment with a sparkler. Those little details really elevate the experience and make guests feel appreciated. The food was amazing, and the service was quick. We ordered two Filet Mignons, the Gnocchi, Confit Potatoes, and a Coke. Everything we had was delicious. Overall, the food was excellent & delicious, but for the price point, I expected a little more attention to the overall experience and the special occasion.

Her personality, attention to detail, and genuine care for our table stood out immediately. She was engaging, thoughtful, and clearly takes pride in making sure every guest has an amazing experience. Service like that elevates a great meal into a memorable one. Michael, the manager, was equally impressive. I watched him throughout the night--expediting, hustling, and constantly moving to keep the team running at peak efficiency. You can tell when leadership truly cares about the experience in the room, and he absolutely sets the tone for excellence. We later learned the head chef was out on maternity leave, which honestly shocked us because the sous chef was in absolute beast mode. Plate after plate came out flawless. The consistency, quality, and presentation were top-tier--you would never know anything was missing from the kitchen leadership. Now the food... simply incredible. We tried all of the sides, and every single one felt like a masterpiece of its own. Each dish had a genius mix of flavors and the same "wow factor" you'd expect from a main course. Nothing felt like an afterthought. I think my favorites were the beets and sweet potato tots. Who knew those vegetables could be lifted into a literal stand alone experience. I ordered the Ribeye, medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The flavor, temperature, and seasoning were of the highest caliber--easily one of the best steaks I've ever had, and I've eaten all over the world. For appetizers we went with the Curry Mussels and Bone Marrow. They were beyond belief. Every plate held its own level of excellence. The food: Amazing. The atmosphere: Amazing. The team: On a whole other level of amazing. We were celebrating a business success, and the team at Asheville Proper made it feel like we were truly winning. Highly recommend. I literally believe these guys just gave me one of the top two meals I have ever had! Keep it up, team!

You need reservations; if you don't have them, you risk getting turned away. It's a husband and wife running the entire place. No extra help. They want you to stay and relax and enjoy everything. We only stayed 90 minutes and they tried to get us to stay longer. Like all the reviews say, it's a very European experience. We've never experienced anything like it. We started with an old fashioned and a margarita from the daily cocktail menu. Olga welcomed us with a hug and took us to our table. She didn't stay out long because she is the chef! But it was still cool to interact with her in the beginning. Both her and her husband made us feel like family. It started pouring and he walked outside with an umbrella and held it for 2 girls at the bar. I thought that was super sweet. We ordered the salmon roe caviar and it was divine. Our second course was the oyster flatbread and I ended up being sad I was sharing it. It was that good!!!!! We were pretty full at this point after a couple more drinks. They were really busy too, so we decided to go ahead and get the check. It started raining right after we got our check, so we ended up getting one more drink to wait it out. We had the best time and can't wait to come back!

Owned and operated by a European couple, the Red Oak has the ambiance of a quaint European restaurant that one would find tucked away in the Alps. While the inside atmosphere is wonderful, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the very quiet and beautiful forested hills of Gatlinburg. Service was incredible and very European - they told us they would not bother us unless we asked for something and that the table was ours for the evening. Yep...we stayed there for three hours, sipping our wine and trying various dishes of exquisite flavor. I'd like to say try this or try that, but to be honest: all the dishes we tried were absolutely phenomenal. We cannot wait to try this place again!

Most of the restaurants seating is at two long bars that are the length of the restaurant.
