We sat in the bar area but didn't get that feel that if you're not ordering a ton of drinks the bar staff essentially ignores you. Food was fresh and good and even played a couple rounds of trivia. USED to be a regular. USED to be a great place. Great service. Good food. This is the second time I came in and was met with rude, snotty service. we would come to Aubrey at least once a week. Now I don't know that I will be back at all. First time it happens chalk It up to a bad day. But I will not give my money in tab or tip to poor, rude and unprofessional service. We are in town for a baseball tournament and staying at the Courtyard Inn right across the parking lot from this restaurant. Though they are open for limited indoor service and have outdoor seating we opted for takeout for lunch the past two days and we were not disappointed. Our son loved the burger and fries, I had their strawberry salad the first day and chicken salad club the second day, and my husband had the fish and chips and grilled tuna sandwich. Significant miscommunication when calling for "reservations". We called 1 week ahead and made a "reservation" for 6:30pm after graduation. We arrived at 6:20 and was told 20-25 minute wait. We said ok. We FINALLY were seated at 7:25!!! I asked to speak to the manager and he said "we don't take reservations!" I said that's not what your people told us when they took our "reservation" a week ago! He said they have "call ahead". I said well that's not what we were told and we would have clearly showed up earlier but believed we had a "reservation!" Boy were we wrong! The lack of trained people answering the phones and misrepresenting what this place does is very disappointing. We clearly made a reservation at 6:30 and were lead to believe we had one. If we wanted to eat at 8 pm our choices were endless for much nicer places. I feel like we were clearly misled. Plus we have a person who has serious acid reflux and cannot eat late. Thank you Aubrey's for completely ruining what should have been a celebration. Your misrepresentation of your policies is damn near criminal. read more

I was excited to see a new restaurant in our little town and have visited now 5 times. The decor is quite nice and the service is very good. The problem is the food. The soups and sandwiches are okay but the entree plates ate not up to par. It seems that most sides and entrees are made ahead and simply warmed to serve. Their spinach and parmesan was served at room temperature as wad the baked squash. Both sides were too heavily salted. We ordered chicken with a sauce that was so salty that we had to send it back. We complained and were told that they were sorry but they couldn't fix it because the sauce is sent in from the vendor. They don't prepare it on site. This seems to be the case with a lot of their dishes. Had their ribs and they were so over cooked they were charred. Tasted ad though they had been warmed over several times. Aubrey's misses the mark. Stick to the cold beer and chips. They get that right. read more

We ate there on Easter. The food was great. The service was excellent. The restaurant was very stylish, spacious, sound was good. Definitely one of the best restaurants in JC. It's my favorite. I had salmon, my husband had the ribeye, and others had soup and salads. We all left saying it was some of the best we had ever had. read more

In my opinion - just another chain restaurant indifferently providing mediocre chain restaurant food. I (almost) always give a restaurant three tries before giving up on them - today was the third strike for Aurbey's in Johnson City. I think that MUCH better chili can be found in a can. The bacon on half turkey sandwich was burned. The bread was very soggy. Food was similarly bad on all three visits, except the crab cake appetizer on my second visit was good. Will not visit them again. I was the caregiver for a wheelchair user for more than 30 years, and we worked hard to help pass and implement the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). So I can't understand how such a new restaurant in today's environment can be so handicap-unfriendly. I was using a walker today, due to a recent operation. The handicap parking on the side of the building was very far away from the entry. There is a high curb in front of the building, instead of a ramp, so someone using a wheelchair or walker can't be dropped off in the front. The front door is extremely heavy and hard to open for someone using a chair or walker, as are the doors to the bathrooms. The doors are glass, so it is unsafe for a chair or walker user to push against them for entry. The interior of the bathroom was OK, except the door to the accessible stall would be unacceptably difficult for a chair user to close. Trash cans were set up in the space needed by a chair user to open the stall and exit doors. Unacceptable! read more

One of my favorite restaurants. I eaten at most of the locations and the food is always top notch. Service is fast and courteous.

It's super clean and modern! I honestly love how you can see a lot of the ingredients they use to cook displayed for people to see. The seats are extremely comfortable and I don't have to fight for a booth. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer, while small, Gordon Ramsey would approve. The interior is a good place for a date or to casually hang out with friends, with an extremely nice bar with lots of selection. The produce and products they use are really fresh! I had cinnamon apples as my side and with every bite I could taste and feel it in the texture it was freshly cut to my order. The steak I had and the bites I had of my boyfriends burger just melted in your mouth, delicious seasoning and cuts of meat for a really fair price. The staff was friendly and super diligent. The food is decent, but the portions are SO small. I get that they advertise as a Tapas/Small Plate restaurant, but wow. The steak and cheese sandwich was just a bit bigger than a hot dog bun. The patty melt is made with what looked like "Texas Toast" instead of the traditional rye bread. The service was good both times we went, and it's clean, but the portions! I just can't get over how small they are-especially in light of the prices. Not impressed. We most likely won't return. read more

Heard great things about this new restaurant. I went there a couple weeks after they opened and ordered a shockingly expensive ribeye. I'm not going to say there was anything hinkey going on, but I will say this - I've had ribeyes in fancy restaurants and I've had ribeyes in crappy restaurants ... and what I was served at Aubrey's did not even live up to what I've had at crappy restaurants. They were kind enough to replace it with a peanut crusted fish dish, but that was sub-par as well. What a shame. :( Three stars because they at least tried to make it right. read more

We had dined in the Bristol location previously and were looking forward to having the same if not similar experience more locally. Unfortunately it was a complete let down from start to finish. The hostess struggled with calling patrons with the right pager, including our party. Once we were seated, our server started out fine but left us on our own by the end. We got the appetizers of Tai and Buffalo Wings. They were both extremely salty. As we waited for our order to come out our server brought us some bread with an apology that it was burnt and not up to standard. As we began eating our meals, it was clear that the food is definately not up to the Bristol locations standards either. The hamburger had no flavor to it. Our tuna sandwiches that were supposed to be rare were medium well and dry. The sweet potato French Fries were limp and cold. The chicken in the Haystack pasta was over salty and dry also. The server was occupied at the table next to us most of the evening with either friends or co workers, not sure which. The manager never came by our table, or any other table for that matter, to see how our experience was. The manager in Bristol visited each table throughout the time we were at that location. Take my advice and avoid the Johnson City Aubrey's. It is worth the extra drive to Bristol for a far superior meal and dining experience, especially for the price at Aubrey's. read more
