Good for large groups? The bigger, the better at Augie's! For our group on a Saturday night, we were seated in the middle of the dining room. They're famous for their family-sized serving portions, so don't be put off by the prices because each dish can serve at least 2-3 people. Plus they have some really good daily specials. We started with 2 appetizers and followed with 3 entrees and was just enough for 7 people. Hmmm, maybe we should have gotten the Braised Short Ribs after all. Appetizers first off, we had Fried Calamari and Baked Stuffed Clams. The calamari was perfectly crispy fried and you know it's fresh when they serve the rings with my favorite part, the tentacles. I was looking forward to the Baked Stuffed Clams and ours seemed to be over done, as they were really dark. I was expecting a whole clam in each shell, but it's only chopped clams mixed in with the stuffing and stuffed back into the half shell. I'd skip these next time. On the other hand, the Linguine & White Clam Sauce was very good, with whole Little Neck Clams in shell and plenty of minced garlic. We also ordered the Veal Piccata with about 8 very flatly pounded scallopine slices sautéed in white wine & lemon with capers on a bed of spinach & artichokes. It is normally served as veal & chicken, but we requested just veal. Our favorite was from the daily specials, the Pappardelle with Wild Mushrooms, Shaved Grana Padano & Truffle Oil. The truffle oil gave it a very luxurious taste with plenty of mushrooms that went well with the shaved slices of cheese. After entrees, I spotted a dish of tiramisu go by that I leered at, but I was pretty full and that dessert will just have to wait for next time. There will definitely be a next time and hopefully very soon!

I started with the tamarind margarita. The tamarind flavor was a bit subtle and the drink was on the sweeter side, but it was pretty good. I also tried the passionfruit mojito, which was a little more tangy and strong. My husband enjoyed the strawberry mojito and tom collins. To eat, I had the burrata avocado toast. It was a great portion size, with two large pieces of toast. However, the flavor was a bit bland. My husband was happy with the chorizo omelette, which was also quite large. The decor is tasteful and they have digital menus on tablets. They also have a nice outdoor seating section. Perfect for date night (or day!)

On a beautiful afternoon, we decided to grab a table on the patio, and it was the perfect choice. The outdoor seating created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere that made it easy to settle in and enjoy brunch. The restaurant itself has a modern, stylish aesthetic that feels elevated without being pretentious. From the moment we sat down, the service was exceptional. Our server was attentive, welcoming, and struck that perfect balance of checking in without ever making us feel rushed. Now, let's talk about the food. The Tres Leches French Toast completely exceeded my expectations. I've had plenty of French toast over the years, but this one stood out. It was incredibly soft and fluffy with beautifully crisp edges, creating that perfect contrast in texture. The tres leches flavor was rich enough that it genuinely didn't need syrup--a rare compliment for French toast. Every bite was indulgent without feeling overly sweet. Paired with the perfectly cooked apple-smoked bacon and a bowl of fresh fruit, it was one of the better brunch plates I've had in quite some time. I also ordered the strawberry mimosa, which was bright, refreshing, and not overly sweet. It was the perfect companion to brunch. We couldn't leave without trying the Chicken Burrata Sandwich, and I'm so glad we did. The burrata was fresh and creamy, the chicken was juicy, and the spicy sauce added just enough heat to keep every bite interesting without overpowering the sandwich. Then there was the bun--soft, fresh, and sturdy enough to hold everything together. It tied the entire sandwich together beautifully. The fries deserve their own mention. Golden brown, perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside--exactly how fries should be. Between the beautiful setting, genuinely attentive service, and food that delivered across the board, 179 Bar & Grill earned every one of these five stars. It's the kind of place that's just as good for a casual brunch as it would be for bringing friends or celebrating a special occasion. I'll absolutely be back--and next time, I'm already planning to explore more of the menu.

The restaurant is small and cozy. Large metal chandeliers adorn the ceilings and it has an upscale, rustic vibe with candles on the tables. Their menu is enticing. It's Italian inspired, but has lots of variety beyond the classic dishes. The appetizers were fantastic. The crispy artichokes were airy and melted in your mouth. The brussel sprouts were deliciously crispy with a pleasantly sweet sauce. I enjoyed the pistachios on them. The eggplant fries were a unique offering and very tasty topped with crumbled parmesan cheese. They would've been even better with a dipping sauce. For my main, I had the mushroom ravioli. The sauce was rich and creamy and it was topped with sharp parmesan and arugula. I enjoyed it, but the portion size was quite small, as the dish only included four pieces of ravioli. My husband got the black linguine and enjoyed the accompanying cream sauce with shrimp and lobster. To drink, I had the queen margherita, which was nice and tangy from the passion fruit. The waiters were great about refilling our water. The entrees took a little while to come out, but overall service was good. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

I also ordered the Greek salad which was decent. Hubby ordered baked clams and they were to die for. He also ordered the chicken Parmesan which was okay. It's not the best I've had but it was so so. I wouldn't order it again. Honestly, it was the version I would have made at home: fried chicken cutlet with melted mozzarella cheese on top. Nothing fancy.
