The Food? Well, I got the lobster box. The husband got the Porkchop box. My box was full and had plenty. The problem was it has all this stuff on the product that looks like parsley and other things, it gets all over you and it is not for the flavor. I DID NOT want a lot of seasoning. They give you a thing of garlic butter to use on the side. It should be put in it, not on the side This had all that stuff on it that looked like spices mixed with grass. Anyway, I had to rinse my food off so I could eat it. It was much easier to handle. OK, the next thing is the neighborhood. I was asked for money 3 times while I waited in my car for my husband. Aunt Irene's is the best hole-in-the-wall you'll go to. The Black Box (original) includes sausage, but you can get a variety of combo boxes for a fair price! We waited in line for about 30 min, but everyone in line told me that it's usually a 45 min wait if you come during lunch rush hour or dinner rush hour. Black Box is a lot of food to finish in one sitting. Scads of shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn, with a crab leg cluster, all in an awesome sauce - not too spicy and not too mild. I finally got a chance to try. There was a line that formed 15 minutes before opening. I got in the line 15 minutes behind. The area is a little sketch, so I nervously waited, constantly checking my car parked out front. Everyone was very friendly and raves over the food. The doors opened and we filed in. I ordered the infamous black box, which cost me $26 for crab, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn. The lady taking orders was super sweet. I waited another 20 minutes as they continued taking orders and prepping to go boxes. They give the option for opting out of sausage for additional cost, but I wouldn't recommend that. The carefully prepared the to go, which I appreciate. It was a 30 min drive home for me and my car doesn't reek of seafood. Once I got home and prepped an area to eat, I opened my box and saw how well of a job they do wrapping the box with foil, and my food was still warm. Everything was delicious. They do a great job on the shrimp. They're easy to peel and don't have the head on the sausage was delicious and the crab was easy to eat. I definitely recommend; however, I caveat to say not to go unless you have time to spare and happen to be in the area. read more

Food is really good, the only downfall are the birds behind the counter with an attitude. I mean not sure why volunteer to work there and have attitudes? The young man they have working the front area was really nice tho. I love to support our black owned businesses, but stereotypical stuff like bad customer service is unnecessary . Traveled all the way from California and this was the first restaurant I stopped by. I ordered the 'black box' and it came with sausage, shrimp, corn, potatoes and crab! The portions are huge, and everything is seasoned to perfection. It is a popular spot, so be prepared to wait for your order in your car. All I can say is get the black box ASAP! The atmosphere is not the best at Aunt Irene's so definitely order out and enjoy in the Comfort of your own surroundings. When asked if there were crab crackers available in the restaurant I was informed that customers stole them all. We had to crack the crab legs with our teeth, never again LOL! the food seriously was delicious though. One thing I would say is get there early in the week maybe even early in the day because some of the crab legs did not taste the freshest (also biased because I'm from Seattle where seafood is always fresh). After ordering, we had to wait another 15-20 minutes for the food as it is prepared fresh. The spot was really small so we decided to take our food to go. I had the catfish and wing black box. The catfish was AMAZING!!! It tasted fresh and was fried to perfection. I have my fish fried hard and they accomplished that. The chicken was also good, but had a sweet seasoning taste to me. The down side to this spot, is the location, size of building, and the extremely long wait. It's been years since I've eaten Aunt Irene's because they gave me some old ass crab legs. So I went to the DeSoto location thinking it's a new location so it will be good. Well they gave me some old ass crab legs again. I don't know if they cook them the night before or if they just sit up all day but they were dried out and I couldn't get the meat out. It was terrible. I paid $60 for that crap. What a waste! Safe to say I won't be giving them another chance. I love supporting black owned but cutting corners and high prices is not a thing. So the Fella and I have been here twice (in the same week )!...Don't judge Us! We had heard so many great reviews about the food and me with my seafood obsession became WAY too curious! On our first visit we chose the Regular $45.00 Lobster box! It was GREAT! We shared it! Our 2nd trip we purchased individual Lobster Boxes one regular and one Spicy (for me)... They were Humongous in size! We ended up with four manly portions! We were going to buy Cajun Eggs but they were not on the menu that day! They are super delicious! I am from NYC and was in Dallas i saw this place on a video someone was doing a review of it so i said we'll try it but when we got there it wasn't giving what i saw in the video about it and the prices i saw on the boards made us decided to leave and go to another seafood spot where we can dine in and have drinks for the same price of the food there were selling. I hate to give a bad review to a black business. I ordered for pick up, through Grubhub. Ordered at 5;30, they closed at 7:30. I'm from out of town, so I waited to get there at 7pm being it was rush hour. I drove 30 minutes for this. I called them multiple times before and after placing my order, no answer. Called when on the way, no answer. They didn't even call me to tell them they were closing and see if I was coming to pick up my order from the number given to them via Grubhub. Very disappointed driving 30 minutes and paying for the food now having to make a dispute with Grubhub. This is just terrible customer service. Why close before your closing hours? Man... the food was the bomb.com. You can tell it's made with some love. A lot of flavor but not too saucy. Literally everything tasted so good, from the crab to the potatoes, to the sausage. The plates are portioned nicely as well.
