This review has been a long time coming. Throughout the years I've been to Aunt Irene's plenty o time. From various locations to various protocols one thing has always remained the same. Great service and great food. It's a Dallas staple. The staff has always been welcoming and excited to have my business. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant exudes a small, casual, warm inviting atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once you go black you will never go back to anything else. Because I had one taste of that black box at the time and it was over. I didn't think about eating anything else. The fish, wings, shrimp, crab legs everything is on point. Regardless of what you get the food is always hot, flavorful and every bite is delicious. The owner is very personable. The only problem that you will have is deciding what to get. My solution: get one of each. But definitely give Aunt Irene's a try.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]You can smell the food well, while you are waiting for a parking space outside the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wait, for your food maybe a good 35- 60 minutes, before you may receive it, but Brandy the Manager will make sure, that your food is hot and finger tasting good

I can't tell yall how good the food is because it is now 4:30 and it's been an hour waiting on food Now it's 4:34 still no food and not being accommodated while other people are comming in and out with their food

I have been waiting to come here for quite some time and try out the black box. Got here after work and the black box was sold out so we went with the crab boxes. We ended up getting the last of the crab and it showed. After our order they were sold out of all seafood. The flavor on the crab was really good and the butter sauce it comes with was so delicious. But the crabs were small and not the best quality. However, I enjoyed the sausage, corn, and potatoes it came with as well. Service wasn't the best but I'm just going to assume it's because we went after work and they were basically getting ready to close within the next two hours. I will say, I plan to come back and try way more items because the seasoning and flavor is on point.

Do not worry about the expensive price because you're going to get your money worth one plate feed three. Food is cook to order, fish was crispy and hot, and wings well seasoned. I've been to Aunt Irene several times and will definitely go back. P.s. great customer service

[[HIGHLIGHT]]There is minimal seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy neighborhood eatery but the food is fantastic.. seasoned served hot and fresh.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You walk up to the counter place your order and receive an order alert. The fried shrimp box was delicious, the shrimp are collasoul, buttered texas toast the cheesy potatoes were cooked soft. Cheesy and delicious the side of corn boiled sweet with that old bay OMG The wing and shrimp box was just as good if not better, the wings are whole big wings. The lemon pepper was spot on. We were visiting the Dallas area and this spot was on our list of local places to visit and I'm glad we did.

Believe the hype y'all! Aunt Irene's is the best Cajun/creole food spot in Dallas. I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. EVERYTHING is so good!! The flavors are bold, soulful & unique. If you love flavor, then you'll love it here!!! Besides food, it seems always busy but there's never a long crazy wait and the hospitality is always great. What I also love about Aunt Irene's is how vast & diverse their menu is. There is so much to choose from, and all of it is good!!! You must try it for yourself, if it sparks your interest.

Absolutely delicious! Everything was well seasoned and freshly prepared. The sauces are amazing! This place is worth the 4-hour drive from Hoston! I will go back e-v-e-r-y time I'm in the Dallas area! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I only wish they had larger building, as they were quite busy and we had to wait a long time for the limited seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have to say it's well worth the wait and I'll be waiting whenever I have to in order to get m yummy food!!

What is the best day to go, we drove down today and it was so packed we just left?

You have to take your chance with the rest of the folks waiting in line.

So you guys take phone orders and then we just pay and pick up?

I've tried calling in the past and no answer. I think they only take walk in orders. The wait is really not that long and it's worth it, even on busy days.

What time do they close on fridays now that covid is around?

    9pm

    What is the phone ni?

    (469) 899-7927

Do you need to make reservations? If not how long is the wait normally?

    1 hour

I called 5 times at different times not close to closing time and no answer, yalls phone work?

Lol you have to go up there .. it’s worth it tho .

Is this place open on Sundays?

    Yes it is.

Underwhelmed by another Dallas steak house…read more Atmosphere 5/5 Service 4/5 Food 3/5 With so many choices for steaks in the area you really have to stand out and the price to value and quality was not there tonight for this early out of the gate steakhouse. With several months under their belt in this location I was very disappointed in what I received. Lamb meatballs were fine as well as the Lobster Bisque which most people get, along with the salads we tried and the French onion soup but beyond that, the main courses were woefully underwhelming. Steaks were fine and cooked to temperature but that's it. No seasoning, nothing special, just slapped down in front of you like it came off the grill in the backyard. With prices at the top of Dallas area steakhouses per ounce of meat, I would rather be at one of the other well known spots around town. The lobster tail was absolutely awful. I guess at $60 for a 10oz tail I should have known it was too good to be true. I mean when a 10oz tail is less than their 8oz filet, I really should have passed. The tail was basically not edible. The skin of the tail stuck to the meat making it like chewing wax paper. I was able to cut that part off and eat what was left. Other people had NY strip which was good and the sea bass which was better than the lobster tail. Overall it's a nice quiet romantic place to try out but I'd stick to drinks at the bar and some appetizers. Just my opinion and maybe it was an off night.

He was clearly very experienced and good at what he does. Five star service. The smoked old fashioned was also excellent. I was very happy with it. They offer a three course power lunch for $39. The problem is that there is an upcharge for most of the options. Fine. But then why do a three course power lunch? Why not just give things prices. It defeats the purpose. The lobster bisque was a lot of bisque and very little lobster. There's not much else to say about it. The sea bass was dense. It tasted more like swordfish or some other kind of fish. It wasn't light and buttery the way I expect sea bass to be. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were nothing special. The baklava was quite good. It was flaky, nutty, and sticky. Very happy with the baklava. The food was not bad. But lunch was $110 plus tip. At that price point, I need more than "not bad" to give higher than three stars. This is a very competitive area. For that price, I could get a better lunch at many of the other nearby restaurants.

I got the hot honey chicken (which is like on every menu in Texas) and a food come was accomplished mid meal. Dallas won that battle, I called it a quits mid way. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K

We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Truluck's last night. From the first sip of the Single Barrel Old Fashioneds to the last bite of dessert, every part of the evening exceeded expectations. We started with the Salt & Pepper Calamari, and after my first bite I literally said, "Oh my God." It may have been the best calamari I've ever had. The combination of blistered shishito peppers, red Fresno peppers, basil, sweet chili glaze, and dynamite aioli created an incredible balance of flavors with just the right amount of heat and crunch. An absolute culinary orgasm. For my entrée, I had the Redfish Pontchartrain with shrimp, crawfish, piquant Creole sauce, and rice pilaf. The fish was perfectly cooked; tender, flaky, and complemented by a sauce that delivered just the right amount of spice without overpowering the dish. My girlfriend ordered the Scallop & Shrimp Sauté over Florentine cauliflower rice with lemon vinaigrette. The scallops and shrimp were cooked flawlessly, tender and buttery, and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. We finished by sharing the carrot cake. Between the rich cream cheese icing, spicy pecans, and warm butterscotch sauce poured over the top, it was decadent without being overly sweet. Smooth, crunchy, rich, and absolutely unforgettable. Our server, Paloma, was exceptionally warm, personable, and incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. She anticipated what we needed before we had to ask, making an already wonderful meal even more enjoyable. The bar is beautifully designed, our booth offered a fantastic view of the city, and the overall atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegant and comfortable.
