The food has really great flavor. The staff is nice and just as I would expect them to be in this family run establishment. The wait, entirely too long but in the end well worth it. I am currently not eating chicken but I was tempted just for a moment to rip into that chicken box. My seafood box was really good. Shrimp cooked and seasoned perfectly and two clusters of crab legs. The corn and potatoes were a hit too. They charge you more if you don't get sausage which is ok, but why pay more if you're getting less...? Happy Mother's day (weekend) I just got my entire life. Being a huge seafood as, I've had this place on my "Must-taste list" for a long long time and I was not disappointed. I guess this just wasn't my cup of tea. You do get more food here than some places, like the Boiling Crab, which is nice, but so wasn't crazy about the flavor of the crab. I'm Haitian, so I know cloves when I taste them and I didn't like that at all. The fried chicken was sweet, and that wasn't right. I guess it depends on your taste buds. Oh nooo!!! This had to be my most horrible foodie experience ever! My food was raw chicken wings sent back redone with way to much coating and way to much salt. The black box had one cluster crab legs a whole bunch of sausages and salty shrimp and corn. It is really small in the restaurant, there is a small window you walk up to and order your food and about 10 chairs to sit and wait for your food. On the other side of the building is a small eating area with a few tables and chairs. My biggest complaint is it's too damn hot, they know 40 people are either waiting to ordering their food or waiting to get their food. They need to have the air on full blast!!!! The food was not as good as I thought it would be. Honestly, the fish was fire...the wings had no seasoning they had a sweet taste to them. The crab legs... fire. The shrimp & lobster was over cooked. The sausages and potatoes were good. The corn has a citrus flavor. The cajun egg were amazing. Would I eat it again....no! The hype is overrated! The greed is real. So, Tokyo Vanity sent me here from her IG post last year. Her food looked so good, and because she is from Louisiana, like me, I knew I could trust her opinion. I initially visited Dallas from Seattle in September of 2018 and Aunt Irene's Kitchen was the first place I wanted to eat. I scrolled over the menu several times prior to my first visit and decided the classic black box was what I was going to order. This place stays busy I tell you! The crab was cooked to spicy perfection and whatever is in that secret sauce garlic butter was an absolute compliment. My food was amazing, to the point even though I was full I knew I would be back. Once I got home, I realized there was a whole menu that expanded beyond, just a crab boil and made plans to order something different the next time I returned. Sure enough, I found myself in Texas again last week and guess where the first place I stopped to eat was, Aunt Irene's Kitchen. My friend and I showed up a few minutes before the establishment opened and there were already Dallas natives waiting outside with us! They knew what the business was, you have to get in early to avoid the line that quickly accumulated behind us while we waited to order. This last time around, my friend and I ordered a black box and a fish and shrimp box which was more than enough to share. The fish box with the Texas toast and cheesy potatoes was so heavenly! I love fried fish and it had the right amount of spice and kick. This restaurant is one of my favorites and definitely a South Dallas gem. read more

Pros - Taste - Authenticity - Customer Service Cons - Location - Pricing - Smell Prior to this, one of my sorority sisters mentioned they were going here, and they were from Houston. Eventually, I decided to step in and check this place out, everyone that knows me will tell you that I'm not the biggest fan of seafood because it burns so quickly. As a result I don't eat it very much, but despite that, the taste was great, they had a nice blend of seasonings on their crab and catfish baskets. The crabs were also HUGE and filled me up. While the shrimp was a little gummy, it still tasted really good with hints of lemon and a blend of non-spicy Cajun seasoning. You could also tell that this place was authentic because of the history behind it. The owner still worked in the back to cook and also had her daughter helping with customer service. They were kind and made sure all of the orders were handled accordingly. It was pretty funny hearing our names yelled out, like our mom's were trying to get us to come eat. On the negative side, the location might not be the most comfortable for some people. Nestled in South Dallas, it's on the strip of Malcolm X and you might be asked for some money by a local pan handler, but being from West Dallas I handled myself just fine. The only reason i say this is because I know not all of my Yelpies are like me and may be taken aback by the area. It still should not take away from the restaurant, but a review is a review for that reason, just be aware and alert. With any seafood, unless you're middle to high class, you probably won't be frequenting this spot often or blowing your bonus check here. Their prices are higher than normal because they are a small gem type business and they have to manage their overhead differently from larger locations. It is worth the cost though, remember that. The smell..... Imagine fish, and multiply it by 15, but it is a seafood place, so that's expected. Smells may bring flies from outside so be prepared to fight some of them off as you eat your food. This place has plenty of room to grow and already has a rich history behind it. Definitely go visit! read more

The Service was a little bit confusing, as soon as we got there the entrance kind of wrapped around but once we got in, the cashier seemed to have a bit of an attitude. 2 trays for $50-60 bucks isn't all too bad, it definitely has flavor and fills you up nicely so the food didn't go bad there AND the do it all in the back, which you see while you park so you know it's all natural. As for the actual waiting area we did wait for 5-10 minutes in somewhat of a room that looked like a mix of a party room but it was quiet and had TV on, really can't complain about it much. I ordered a black box. When I opened it, I was salivating. I thought I had finally found THE SPOT in Dallas for seafood. I was so disappointed. The food was fresh, but it just lacked FLAVOR. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't good. (The shrimp were overcooked, but I would have found that a forgivable offense had the sauce been better). I moved to DFW from Atlanta last year, where good crab boils/garlic crabs can be found in every corner of the metro area. I'm just sadly concluding that Dallas doesn't have good seafood. I finally made it to AIK. I had to see what the hype was all about. I've been following her for a while and everyone says get there early... so I did. They open at 12 and when we got there at 1145 there was a shirt line outside..in the rain. It wasn't a very long wait at all to place our order but everything is made to order so be prepared to wait. The Black Box was really good. The seafood was seasoned perfectly and the sausage were really good. We also go the wings. My daughter wasn't a big fan.
