Been here twice and it's been such a fantastic experience both times! The instructor (Carmine) is so funny and keeps the class entertained while delivering helpful instruction. They start you off by collecting your food and drink orders and then the class starts! You learn how to make the dough from scratch, and then make a variety of shapes of pasta (all to take home)! It's entertaining and lots of fun- great for a bday! The 3 course meal after is delicious too, highly recommend the champagne mussels, and cavatelli pasta which has a nice bite (with any sauce, they're all good). I also really liked the lasagna! I was a little unsure at first; I'm new to cooking classes, but the session cleared things up and boosted my confidence. I already make homemade pasta, and this class reinforced my technique and confirmed I'm on the right track. You wait outside the restaurant until they call you in, then they seat you at a spot at the table. I did the pasta making experience with my partner and it was a lot of fun! You get to make your own pasta dough and really get a good arm work out. Because the dough needs time to sit, they give pre made pasta sheets to make 3 different pasta shapes to make pasta at home! 5/5 for a cute and affordable date night. Upon our arrival, we found parking right in front. It was three of us who joined each other for this wonderful experience. We made friends with the people right next to us. I love that they take your order first before you go through the experience of making the pasta and at the end your food is ready. Everything is delicious. Drinks were great and so was the company. Aunt Jake's pasta class here is so fun! I've done the class twice with work and each time I left so full and with plenty of pasta. With the group class we had about an hour of pasta making where you take home four cuts of pasta plus a all of fresh dough to roll out at home, then a preset dinner. Aunt Jake's was such a fun pasta making experience to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday! We were a group of 8 among others in the class. Our instructor did a great job of walking us through the dough making process, coming to check on everyone throughout. We learned to make dough and were given separate rolled out sheets to practice making different pasta shapes. We opted for the bottomless wine/sangria option to drink throughout the experience. A few others arrived early and gathered around, we all bonded over our shared discomfort of standing in the cold. We were let in right at our scheduled class time. It genuinely felt like being in an Italian kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The class is held around one long table, probably accommodating about 14-20 people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You're given an apron and a drink, and then the class begins. You spend about an hour making several different types of pasta, which are boxed up for you to cook at home later. This has made it to one of my top favorite things to do in New York City! It's been on my list for a couple years, but I finally made a reservation recently to do a pasta making class on a rainy Sunday afternoon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It started at 12:30, and once we all got in to the restaurant, we were at this super long and wide table with about maybe other 15 people in the class.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are hooks for your belongings, and aprons for everyone to wear. Carmine was our instructor and he was incredible. The pasta making itself took maybe an hour and a half, and we learned how to make four pasta shapes, including farfalle, garganelle, pappardelle and tagliatelle. We also took home a ball of pasta dough we made which could be used for making more pasta shapes. After we were done, we sat down at our dining table and enjoyed a three course meal. This was such an incredible value for $60, not to mention the portions of all of the food were huge. I ordered mussels for my appetizers, as well as a butternut squash risotto for my main, and then an ice cream sundae for dessert. We also got complementary focaccia bread for the table, and I ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir for the table. We were done eating close to 3:45pm. Visited the restaurant for a friend's birthday event. We were a group of 12. We were seated on time and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat down and ordered our drinks. Thereafter we moved to the main table (standing) where an instructor (ex- marine with a great ability to project his voice and tell jokes) guided us through the pasta-making class. I thought we would eat the pasta we made, but we did not. Instead, you take that home and receive instructions on how to make it. I had a pretty good experience here! A pasta making class - particularly a class here has been on my list of NYC activities to do for awhile now. Aunt Jake's is pretty affordable compared to other pasta making classes, considering it's $60 for the class and a 3 course meal. I was able to find availability for 2 people at 8 pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I came around 7:50 pm, there were 2 fire trucks outside. Firemen were coming in and out of Aunt Jake's and neighboring businesses. It was also raining and there was a flood flash warning this day. A lot was going on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They finally let us in around 8:07 pm. We were handed a menu and aprons. The class itself went by fast and lasted 1.5 hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought the class took place in a separate room but no, it was in the middle of the restaurant and there were tables of people enjoying their 3 course meal from the last session.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all gathered around this table and followed Anthony's instructions. Some of his direction was not that clear if I'm being honest. At one point he came over to me to correct my technique/form because I wasn't doing something right. He was kinda of sassy but it was fine. The people across from my friend and I were friendly. The girl next to me was not friendly whatsoever. Barely acknowledged me, kinda rude.... We ordered: - spicy margarita - strawberry Aperol spritz: I honestly couldn't taste any alcohol and I don't know if any was even in it. It was refreshing though but got watered down fast. - meatballs: really good! I liked the sauce - hot honey burrata: also really good. But I think they could have given bigger pieces of bread because the ratio of bread to burrata didn't match. - chicken parmigiana: I'm not the biggest chicken parm fan (anywhere), but I did enjoy this. I liked that the breading wasn't too thick. - three cheese meat lasagna: I liked that this wasn't too thick because most lasagnas are thick. I took a pasta making class here and thought it was a cool experience. For $60 (before tip and tax), you get to make your own dough and four different types of pasta to bring home. While it was educational and very hands-on, I definitely enjoyed eating the pasta they served us the most. As part of their package, we were able to select food for our three-course meal. I cannot recommend this enough! This is definitely you should try with friends at least once. It started with a two-hour pasta class with the funniest pasta instructor. We made 4 different pasta shapes that we get to take home and cook outselves. Next, it ended with a three course meal: a hefty amount of appetizers (I got so mussels, hot honey burrata, Caesar salad, etc), a satisfying amount of pasta for our entree (squid ink pasta, chicken parm, sweet potato gnocchi, etc), and we finished off with a delightful dessert (fried donuts with caramel sauce and Icecream over brownie). when i say i absolutely love dining here. i LOVE IT! ive attended here on two occasions, one of them being in may and the second time for our anniversary and boy oh boy. i can't describe my excitement the second time around knowing what to expect from the first time. i would like to preface by saying $60pp is such a great deal for an in class pasta making experience AND a proper three course meal. the first time we came, there was so much traffic from nj to ny, we missed the pasta making portion which i believe is about 45 mins long. we explained the situation to the manager and and he promptly sat us down to be served with a dinner menu. the menu is pretty vast and with so many good options, i wanted to try something new. i ordered the champagne mussels for appetizer, lemon chicken for dinner, and the fluffy caramel donuts for dessert. my oh my. i've never had mussels and idk why i thought this would be the best place to try them, but i'm so happy i did bc it's the only way i want my mussels served. the champagne mussels came in a nice small bowl, with buttered and toasted slices of focaccia bread. that was a whole moment for me. the mussels soup was so creamy and the bread was toasted enough to soak the soup without being too soggy- uh! my mouth is drooling imagining the flavors all over again. if you're questioning your ur menu choices, start with that off rip. one of the many the pros to eating here is knowing your pasta is going to be fresh, and i really enjoyed the texture of the pasta in both of our dishes. fresh pasta can be an acquired taste/texture, but Aunt Jake's has it down right. the pasta noodles for my lemon chicken were thick enough to have the creamy lemon sauce cling to them, and long enough to enjoy a bite of pasta with each piece of the sautéed chicken. my bf had the chicken parmigiana and meatballs the second time, and man were those a good choice. i enjoyed my choices so much, the second time around, i chose the same menu items again! we made sure we arrived in the city two hours ahead so we can participate in the class. The place is nicely spread out considering that they have the middle island for the cooking class and have to accommodate so many people. The chef that taught our class was fun and nice! It was a bit rushed but it's normal considering the timeframe of things and them having to make sure we have enough time to dine before the next class is done. The food was really good. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary through a pasta making class at Aunt Jake's! When we checked for reservations a couple weeks ago, we weren't able to find any, but upon contacting the restaurant directly, they were able to secure a reservation for us! The back of the restaurant contains a large table where the class is held, and the front of the restaurant has tables for the dining part of the experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and would highly recommend it to anyone! The staff prepares all the materials well and teaches everyone how to make dough from scratch as well as how to make a couple different pasta shapes. You are able to take it all home in a provided box. Orders for the three course meal are taken at the beginning of the class and at the conclusion of the class, you are seated at the tables with your party to be served. We ordered the salads as a starter, the rigatoni with garlic pecorino and cavatelli with carbonara as the entree, and the mason jar sundae and donuts as our dessert! Everything was delicious! For appetizers we had the hot honey burrata and meatballs. I never had hot honey and was skeptical of it being on burrata, but it was GOOD. Would def have that again! For mains we did the rigatoni alla vodka, shrimp scampi and tagliatelle with roasted garlic pecorino sauce. All of them were amazing! For the pasta making class, there were spots already set up with flour, eggs, and all utensils needed. Our order for the 3 course meal was taken before the class started, so that the food would be ready by the time we were done. The instructors were very personable and knowledgeable. We made our own dough, which we then set aside. After that, we were given fresh pasta sheets to create 3 different types of pasta, including Farfalle, Garganelli, Mafalde, and Fettuccine (this one was made with a machine). I really enjoyed this part of the class. When finished, all of our pasta was boxed up to be cooked at home. Our appetizer for the lunch was Fried Calamari and we actually got more for free because the chef made too much. It was a great perk for us. The Calamari was delightfully crispy and well seasoned. The entree I selected was Lasagna with meat and 3 cheeses, which was HUGE! This consisted of ricotta, mozzarella, pecorino, along with ground beef and short rib. The pasta was perfectly cooked, with delicious melty cheese, and tender meat bold in flavor. I also got to try my friend's Shrimp Scampi, which was nicely creamy and lemony with peppery, succulent shrimp. Dessert was Tiramisu, made with mascarpone, ladyfingers, and espresso. This was light and delicate, with true taste of coffee, as well as velvety smooth, and just the right amount of sweetness.
