A long time staple of the area for fresh local seafood while enjoying beautiful water views. A place with great prompt service and menu. Our starter was a mixed bread basket for the season with pumpkin and jalapeños cornbread. Within our 6 many ordered seafood entrees like Coconut Shrimp but all I could see was that Mac n Cheese side. Yum. The Cole slaw was fresh and so enjoyable as my side. They offer a nice line up of cocktails which you can take back on the boat with you also if you want a second one to go, winner! Food was excellent, a variety of seafood as well as the things you'd usually expect from restaurants (sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc). We had a seafood platter, gator tail, fish dip, and a brownie sundae. Each of them were great the seafood was delicious and the brownie was hot with a cold scoop on top. We went with our dogs and sat outdoors, which allowed us to witness a beautiful sunset over the intercoastal. Would have loved to give a positive review of the food but was not able to get past the unwelcoming host (maybe manager?) . We had a friend waiting for a table who was told we could be seated as soon as our party came inside. By the time we came in from parking - our table was given away. We were then told it would be a 90 min wait despite multiple open tables on a weekend evening. He treated her like she was invisible and dismissed us. Yikes. Nice, cozy restaurant with beautiful outdoor seating facing the dock/pier. You can dock your boat and walk up to the restaurant. It was too hot for outdoor seating on this 95F day, so we chose indoor with the cool air conditioning. Wait staff is friendly and fast. Interior is clean. We were served a complimentary bread basket of cornbread, Johnny cakes, and pumpkin spice and all three were so comforting and yummy! The pumpkin spice reminded me of gingerbread though I'm not sure if there's actually ginger in it. Great breads all the same. My main course was St. Augustine Shrimp. I chose broiled and it was presented scampi style in a garlic butter sauce. Shrimp was perfectly cooked, juicy and plump. My sides of collard green and pickled beets were also as scrumptious! My husband ordered the Mahi Sandwich and it was amazing! Blackened Mahi on rye with swiss cheese and coleslaw. Like a Reuben with Mahi! What a spectacular sandwich. My family and I have loved Aunt Kate's for years and years! Every time we visit st. Augustine we stop by! Right on the water this place has the best sunset views and the atmosphere is so peaceful and serene. I love the historic backstory of the restaurant. This place has such a lovely setting and the food is decent but the presence of birds and squirrels running around wild, flying right over the tables and landing on them ready to swoop down onto your plate is extremely unpleasant and unhygienic. The staff are pleasant but unless they get a grip on this situation, I won't be back. It's unfortunate because I do enjoy the setting. The food was fine, our waitress told us there was no soda. The machine was down, so she brought us water to our table in our cups. When we got back to our house, we were told on the news there was a boil ordinance for this area, I called and talked to the manager. He told us that he went and bought jugs of water, but he got irate when I told him I also am a licensed water operator in this water was not store-bought, he hung up on me. Absolutely perfect. My husband's ribs were tender, moist, and tasty. Not a smoked bbq sauce, different, but delicious. Black beans and rice were spiced perfectly...neither hot nor bland. The veg medley was a delicious mix of squashes and zucchini. My oysters were tender and meaty. Not greasy and the tarter sauce had a hint of a dill which made it unique. Our waitress, Megan, was friendly and attentive but not intruding. Every time we needed something (more water) she just appeared. Checked on us twice to discover we were happy. Went to Aunt Kate's with family members last night. Had not been in a long time. We were told it would be about twenty minutes at 7 pm on a Friday night. Ordered drinks at the bar and our tables were ready. Not bad for a Friday night. We tufted fried calamari which were good and the marinara sauce with them was outstanding. The corn bread, corn pone and the spice bread served were very nice. My wife and I ordered the seafood platter of crab cake, shrimp, scallops and fist. We had them grilled. Great grilled flavor on the fish. The sides we had were the vegetable medley and the potato salad. Both were good, the potato salad could have had a pinch more mustard but that is my taste. This is our second time here, first time was a drink by boat. The views from the back patio are exceptional, the inside is your standard fried fish restaurant. For drinks, we ordered their IPA available and the Uncle Dave's lemonade (very refreshing). The kitchen was extremely slow....extremely. With that being said, our server (Miley) was excellent, kind to our daughter, and brought us table bread while we waited. Once we got the food, it was honestly better than I expected. The fried mushroom appetizer was one of the best fried mushrooms we've had. For dinner, we had the blackened fish tacos (yum!) and the blackened fish sandwich (also yum!). Our server Andrew was fantastic. He recommended some great dishes and is delightful. Came back a second time and was happy to be in his section! All three of us loved our food, Caesar salad, grilled chicken sandwich, flounder sandwich, mac and cheese (!!), fish tacos, fish reuben, the crab cakes (!), and bread were all soooooo good. After a long day doing the tourist thing and looking for something with a more relaxed atmosphere than downtown, this place was perfect! We had a big party, but they were quick to accommodate us. Outdoor patio seating with a river view. This space is beautiful. I loved the cut out giant trees growing through the patio. The view nice also. Our server? Amazing! Most of my party didn't speak English. She was patient with us and our orders and got it completely right! Our food? Great. Ranged from steak to shrimp and grits, shrimp and my pulled pork. Good prices and great quality. There were no complaints. I sneaked away to pay bill as it was his Birthday and server added a cake for him. Made it so special. We were out on the water and spotted Aunt Kate's to dock at & so we pulled in for a Saturday lunch. Table for 6, out by the water, was perfection on a day as gorgeous as today. Our server quickly came out and took our drink orders and then our food orders. Our table got a variety of foods- John and I shared coconut shrimp (which was delicious), my friend Lani ordered the crab cake sandwich with scrumptious mac and cheese as her side and another friend copied her. Deb just ordered a small side- but that was enough. Our only foodie casualty was Jason- he doesn't do a lot of seafood and opted for the bbq pulled pork sandwich & discovered he does not like mustard/vinegar based bbq. Why was this my first time here but I'm so glad I did it on my own having a me day! Service was awesome from Andrew and the hostess, better than some fine dining experiences. The food was so delish I tried catfish fingers, clam strips, fries (so many other family places underestimate the power of a great fry) coleslaw was also very good and not too much mayonnaise the bread they started me with was great and please be sure to try the homemade datil. While visiting my parents in St. Augustine, we were on a hunt for a pet friendly restaurant where we could bring our two dogs along. Kate's was great, and I was so happy that they allowed our dogs to eat there, at the picnic tables. They brought bowls with water for our dogs right away. The views were incredible! The only downfall was my meal, the scallops, they were not great and didn't taste fresh at all. The potato salad was soo good! I could have eaten so much of that and the mashed potatoes. The gator bites were soo good also, highly recommend with their orange sauce. read more

The bartender refused us service while granting it to the couple who attempted to order happy hour drinks right after us. This made us question just leaving and going somewhere else. However, I am very glad we did not. Our server was wonderful and worked to make up for the unpleasant beginning of our experience here. This restaurant has great seafood and accessible by boat! The restaurant has two boat docks and there is also a Boat Ramp and a Bait & Tackle shop adjacently located, which makes for a boater's paradise. On Sunday there was live music, which we enjoyed. The seafood was cooked and seasoned to perfection, which validates their over 100 years of service. There wasn't a single item that I would not order again, and we ordered a variety of items: Fried gator, Coconut Shrimp, Peel N Eat Shrimp, Crab Cakes, and Cajun Pasta. They offer complimentary table bread; the Pumpkin spiced bread was my favorite... Sweet and savory :) The service was slower than I expected but overall great food, music, and drinks... so who can complain on a beautiful day. This would not hinder my return visit, or my referral to anyone looking for great seafood with a beautiful water view. If you haven't been here you should definitely try them out, I love Peel N Eat Shrimp and they have some of the best! read more

What a wonderful restaurant. My wife has heard amazing things about Aunt Kate's and their reputation is well warranted. They have a terrific location, with the absolute best waiting area of any restaurant we've ever been to, ever! They have a couple docks to walk on and take photos, a small stretch of beach to wet your toes, and even a sitting area underneath an huge oak tree, as you gaze over the water, and in our case, watch over the little one has he got wet. The food was terrific. I had the St. Augustine Shrimp. Don't let my photo fool you, there's actually 3 sticks, but I ate one before I remembered to take a photo. =) My wife had one of the specials, sorry, I forgot what it was called, but it was even better than my shrimps, which I liked very much. They had live music, and he was great. I should have gotten his name because I loved his voice. Would love to listen to him more if he plays anywhere else, or is a regular at Aunt Kate's. Overall, a wonderful experience. If it wasn't for the overcast, we would have caught the sunset, so something to look forward to on our next visit. =) read more

The service was pretty slow and that was kind of expected given that they seemed understaffed, but our server especially seemed to be pretty absent compared to the others around us. We didn't sit outside but went out there after eating and it was a pretty nice view, so if there's not too long of an outdoor wait I'd recommend that- it was a little stuffy inside. The food was alright, we got the Fried Green Tomatoes to start which were fried well and came with a great sauce, but they were under seasoned/salted. I got the Blackened Fish Tacos with Fries. The fries were good and the sauce the tacos came with was great, but the Blackened Mahi was overcooked and oddly shaped for a taco format. Everything was a bit overpriced in my opinion as well, but given that there aren't many options around here that was also expected. I'd try other places before coming here, but Aunt Kate's is an ok option. read more

Great scenic setting, right on the intracoastal do take advantage and SIT OUTSIDE. I went here on a whim, by myself and wanted to sit outside and get a little work done. My server was Liam, a really cool server who had a cool beach vibe. I am not saying he was a formal server, but he was attentive and got my order perfectly and his recommendations were spot on. I had to say the highlight on the meal was the bread service. Liam brought out a sample of three breads: Johnny Cake, Pumpkin bread Datil pepper bread The pepper bread was most interesting, soft bread with a strong pepper kick. I normally am not into spice, but this one was really good. Pumpkin bread was probably my favorite, but the Johnny cake was good too. Skip the butter, the service I got was either left out or something, it was just not good. For my lunch, I had: She crab soup Trio of chicken salad, seafood salad and tuna salad. The she crab soup I thought was good, but the salad trio was runny and lacked flavor. Maybe I came on an off day, but next time I am going to order something different. While I enjoyed sitting outside, one of the inside workers came out to smoke a few times and the smell was over powering. But the view was really serene and relaxing and Liam could not have been nicer. read more

After a day at the beach we found Aunt Kate's. Great location right on the river. The weather was perfect and everyone opted to eat outside. The service was great, sadly I forgot our servers name but she was excellent. We ordered fried green tomatoes, ahi tuna appetizer and a chicken sandwich. We enjoyed every bit of it. They also gave complementary bread: Johnny cake, cornbread and pumpkin bread. We loved all 3 but pumpkin was my favorite. I can't wait to go back and try something different on the menu. read more
