Loco Moco and Portuguese sausage breakfast plates were very good. I'll be back for more.

My wife and I get take out from Aunties Cafe around once a month. We have always been very happy with the food quality and the amount of food you get. My go to order is Aunties Fried Chicken Bowl sub bacon fried rice and a spam musubi. Typically when I order the bowl the entire bottom of the to go box has fried rice. Today I ordered my usual and it came with one small scoop of fried rice. The sub bacon fried rice costs +$3.00! It is outrageous that this small scoop of fried rice costs $3.00. Also, the last couple of times I've ordered fried rice, the taste has been different from the time they opened and not for the better. My spam musubi wasn't any better. The spam to rice ratio was way off and the nori didn't even wrap around the entire musubi. I am very disappointed with the quality as of late. Not sure if we will continue to make this a regular take out spot. read more

Upon walking in very Empty.. But i did Mention i was Yelping To the Young lady whonplace my order and automatically she gave me my Yelp Discount that was awesome. Though i had it ready for her 15%OFf I ordered side of pancakes, and corn beef hash with sunny side eggs with wheat muffin and med coffee. Coffee cups are coffee bean (not that i care ) but someone else might point that out. Ok food is here. Pancakes..a MUST Corn beef hash meh ** Not Hot enough** very warm..almost cold in the inside. But crispy on the outside Utensils and condiments are all self serve *1/2 Star ( reason being) if it was crowded you'd have to wait and it can get stick with a line). Got the Neil's plate to go and it was awesome. I am from Hawaii so when I say it tasted like I was back on Oahu I mean it. The pork was phenomenal, the fried chicken was on point and even the rice was good. My wife got the Spicy Korean Chicken and she had it for lunch and dinner. Best Hawaiian joint in the game. This place is old school cool. They serve some fire corned beef hash brown, Kalua pork short ribs, incredible spam musubi, and of course some coffee from back home, Kona Coffee. Service and ambience is good, the food is supah hot fiyah. read more

Being frequent Hawaii visitors and a family who enjoys spam, fried rice, saimin, etc., we can be pretty picky about our Hawaiian food. The moco loco was one of the best. The flavors in the gravy made it delish! Only critique is that the egg was fully cooked and we would have liked the runny yolk. We also had the spam musubi and aunties chicken. The chicken was moist and she uses some special sauce that is better than normal teriyaki sauce. The musubi was good but not great. I think the spam could have been cooked longer. I hate to write this review because the lady at the counter was friendly and nice, but the food was a let down and there was an old/musty smell when I walked into the restaurant. Sad I have to write this review. It's been a little over 3 years since we've been back. Drove a long way to get some good Hawaiian food. While the service was great and cashier friendly, the food was a big disappointment aside from the fried rice. That was very good. My husband had the Rudy's Loco and I the 2 item combo of Roast Pork and Hamburger Steak. We both agreed that the Hamburger Steak was dry and tough, and the Roast Pork was also tough and had a huge piece of just fat. The Macaroni Salad was just ok. Prices got higher and portions got really small compared to before. I understand about inflation but for this price I expected better. Sorry Auntie's Cafe but we will not be back. It would be too far of a drive to try again. read more

We ordered takeout from here for lunch today and overall the food is good! However, I only gave it 3 stars because there were a couple issues. We had the teriyaki chicken bowl but some of the pieces were slightly undercook and still pink in the middle. These were the thicker pieces and we were still able to eat most of it, so not the biggest deal. My bigger issue was the packaging for takeout. We ordered saimin and the hot broth melted the styrofoam container during the 15 minute drive home. I wasn't comfortable feeding this to my kids or eating it myself, so we had to just toss it. Shame we never got to try it. read more

Food is delicious. Prices are reasonable. Owners are great! Almost perfect. Only one downside, I was going twice a week and I gained 25lbs! Best breakfast burrito I've had in Gardena. In case you aren't familiar with the Torrance/Gardena area; there are a lot of Hawaiian transplants and Hawaiian food. But even in an area saturated with Hawaiian food, this place is a must hit. The two item combo was heavenly perfection. The teriyaki beef was sweet and delicious; the perfect teriyaki. The aunties chicken was perfect and juicy. The flavors are just incredible and not to be missed. I was a regular at another nearby Hawaiian restaurant, but I'll be working this place into regular rotation because it is just so dang good. read more

Everything you'd expect from a Hawaiian restaurant! We had the Aloha Royal which is homemade char siu with Portuguese sausage, eggs and green & yellow onions. It's served on a bed of rice and a side of Mac salad! Highly recommend We also had Rudy's Loco Moco which is a hamburger patty, Portuguese sausage and corned beef hash patty served on rice of course with 3 eggs! (The gravy was soooo good!) And last we had Shari's Fried Rice which is bacon, ham char siu and eggs with green/yellow onion :) If you're going to get fried rice from here...get this one lol The food was great! Sherry and her family owned and operated Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop back in the day, then ran the TNT Aloha Cafe near PCH and Vista Montana, and now I've followed her to Aunties near my home. They still offer the same food selections as before, and at a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any of my friends, of course! read more

Let me start by saying the food, prices, helpful staff, location are good. They have an authentic Hawaiian food menu that tastes very similar to what you can get back home in Hawaii. The issue we had was the bathroom, the door does not shut at all for a women's bathroom that's an issue. The shrimp was crunchy and not soggy or bland like some other places. 4 stars instead of 5 because the Mac salad is not very good. Dry and flavorless. They need to seriously rework that. I came here on a Saturday night for dinner with my whole family. We were the only ones in there. We ordered a total of 6 dishes, and they all were really good! My favorite was their special - Garlic shrimp. The shrimp was seasoned super well, and it had almost a crispy garlic coating that made it delicious. The Korean chicken that came with the garlic shrimp was just okay. I thought that it would have a kick to it, but it didn't. It was kind of lacking some flavor. The fried rice was amazing! You can't go wrong with a plate of fried rice as comfort food. I was shocked at how good the pancakes are here. They are pretty addicting once you start eating them. They are perfectly fluffy and not too sweet. If you're looking for a place with good breakfast food for dinner, then this place is the spot!! Not too many Hawaiian style restaurants around. King's Hawaiian is overrated. Found this place while working and this place has a lot of choices on the menu. I had the Aloha Royal. It is like egg omelette with Portuguese sausage, onion, cha su pork, with white rice. Pretty good. The service was good. They were busy during lunch time and the cashier/waitress can only do so much, but over all a great job read more

Overpriced for your portion size and long wait time when no one else was in the cafe. To be fair I had the loco moco which is actually a big portion and worth it but all 4 of my co-workers got tiny portions. 3 got the teri beef plate and it was 70% rice and 30% meat for $17. 1 of them got the poke bowl which I felt also had a small portion of fish for the price. I felt horrible that I even convinced them to try it for the first time only ever had the loco moco I assumed all dishes would be equally as good. All that said we also waited almost 30 min for our food to come out and we were the only people there. I don't get all the great reviews, sorry we won't be back read more

I'm not coming back here again until they figure out their hours of business. I'm sure there's an economic reason for their hours, but if you come in 5-15 minutes before they close, don't expect service. And you'll have to be a fortune teller to guess when they'll be open if you don't have a smart phone and you assume a restaurant would be open at 1:20pm during the week. Sorry for whatever tough times you are going through, Aunties Cafe, but I'm not coming back here or recommending this place to anyone I know until you have business hours that make sense. Only reason I couldn't leave 5 stars is because my total was over $30 for 2 item (My friend got the waffle on a separate order). Located in small plaza with plenty of parking in front. I picked this place to bring my parents to breakfast because my dad usually picks the same 2 or 3 places in the Gardena area. lol But apparently it's the same owner that used to own the place in Gardena Bowl and current owner of TNT Aloha Cafe. Kind of a fast food setup, you walk in order, and they bring your food to your table. The rest is self serve. The girl working the front that Friday morning was friendly and helpful in offering suggestions. Dad got the Aloha Royal, mom got the waffles, and I got the Roast Pork with Gravy. I also used my Yelp check in to try their spam musubi. Dad didn't share, but he finished it. So I'm guessing it was good. Mom's waffles were pretty good. They use the same batter for pancakes. One thing is I like my waffles with a slight crisp, toast-like. These were chewy and more bread/pancakes like. But the flavor is on point. They don't have coconut syrup anymore because they said they would make it from scratch and no one would eat it. Darn. Would have loved to try it. Maybe only offer it on Fridays and weekends? My roast pork with gravy was just okay. I was actually slightly disappointed. The meat was tender and had some flavor, but the gravy lacked seasoning. We let them know and they agreed, added some seasoning, and gave us more gravy. Much better afterwards. Overall, I'd give this place another shot. Loved everything we ate. 1 star is taken away for being cash only and for how slow it was to get our food. Sort of an update...Aunties Cafe contacted me to correct me on the 'cash only' part of the review. I failed to remember that it was not cash only, but I think it was a 3% surcharge for using the credit card if it was under $30 or $35. The Loco Moco was ono! And it was a lot! Took me -ME, 3 meals to finish off my plate. And believe it or not, everywhere we go with plate lunch our Big Boy (Dogge) gets his own Loco Moco. He certainly knows whats up when it comes to a good Loco Moco. We do have to have the gravy on the side because he cant have that. No prob- Mom or Dad could totally go for extra gravy. it is one of the essential food groups of the Hawaiian diet after all. And my husband, who is very hard to please when it comes to gravy and would always say his is da best -actually, verbally admitted -I wish I got it on camera, that he "really like their gravy, its good. Somebody finally got it right around here!" Its a cute little place, nice & clean. Lots of light & seating. The staff was accommodating and patient with me and my Dogge Plate Lunch requests. Food was...basic...kinda bland actually and not the place to go if you're looking for traditional Hawaiian local flava. We ordered the roasted pork loco moco and the saimin and as soon as I saw it, I already thought, I'm not gonna like it because the pork was dry and the gravy was see through and gelatin looking not dark brown thick gravy and the flavor was bland. The saimin was the same. Tasted watery. I will say the the serving size was good! One thing my husband and I look at at restaurants is cleanliness of the condiment containers. The Kikoman soy sauce bottle was clogged on one side and the hot sauce bottle tip was dirty! Those should be cleaned daily! I don't think we'll be going back.
