We've gone there, for years, after church Sunday evenings, for drinks and mini 6" pizzas, ordered extra-thin, extra-crispy, which sometimes come out that way and sometimes fat, undercooked and doughy tasting. This week we ordered, and pre-paid on line, the same and under "special instructions" specified "extra thin, extra crispy". Order came out hot and on time. Got it home in a jiffy and found one, which had been ordered with anchovies, came out without same and the pizza crusts were soft and almost undercooked. That we each only ate half our 6" pizzas, and threw the rest in the garbage says it all. Next time, we'll get carry out (and they also delivery for $3) at Ledo's in LaGrange, which listens and serves the pizza as you prefer and, incidentally sells their 8" individual pizza for $1 less than Aurelio's and the extra toppings for almost half as much. read more

My friend's local relatives took us here. Best stuffed pizza I've had! Yummy crust & sauce, with tasty italian sauce & onions. It was my first time having calamari and I really enjoyed it (my friend says she's had better, but I thought the batter at least was well seasoned). Fried zucchini scrumptious as well. ***ZERO STARS*** **Do NOT eat here!** I'll start by saying that pizza is my absolute favorite food. Period. I have eaten at probably 50 different pizzerias all across Illinois, and have even eaten pizza outside the US. I realize that all pizzas are unique in their own way, and that is a good thing. Outside of Little Caesar's, Dominos & Papa John's (these are basically low-level frozen quality pizzas), I believe every pizza has some positives to them. That is until I went into Aurelio's in LaGrange. My pizza world was flipped upside down. I have heard good reviews about their pizza, yet after eating just 2 bites, I cannot understand how ANYONE could stomach this garbage. This is the nastiest, smelliest, most vile pizza I have ever eaten. This was a full-on assault on my nose and taste buds! When it was brought to my table the first thing I noticed was the weird, gross smell. I took a piece, brought it up to my mouth, and was immediately turned off by the rancid smell of this pizza. Having heard some good reviews about this place, I decided to try it. I took a bite. It was pretty gross. I took a second bite, just to make sure that what I was actually tasting was real. This is not even pizza. It smelled and tasted like dirty dish water. Our waitress came by to ask us if we wanted to box up the leftovers, which was roughly 75% of the pizza (the other three people in my party ate a couple of the pieces before giving up on this trash). I told her how this pizza was absolutely disgusting, and that she needed to remove I from my table, because just the smell alone was making me ill. She took the pizza, tossed it in the garbage, apologized, and brought me the check. Yes, I had to pay for this HORRENDOUS meal. Terrible customer service, for sure! After 45 years on this planet, I finally realized that pizza CAN be disgusting and inedible. This is the best way I can describe this atrocious pizza. I have never felt this way about any pizza in my life. In fact, I was longing for Little Caesar's, Dominos & Papa John's when I left this place. The restaurant is cute with red and white checkered table tops. The staff is pretty good. We got the half & half pizza which is half cheese half sausage, and it was pretty good. Very cheesy and good crust! The large was plenty for three with leftovers! We also got a small dinner salad to split between four with the raspberry vinaigrette on the side. Aurelio's is delicious and they have so so many locations. If you do not like sweet sauce steer clear of this Chicago staple. I love they pizza so much that I am super boring and order a plain thin crust cheese pizza. It might sound like no big deal but it's so amazing. This pizza makes my Friday night and it's not greasy like the typical pizza. Full of flavor and lots of sauce and cheese. Keep doing what you have been doing forever because it is clearly working. Eric - the Manager at La Grange Aurelio's helped me by delivering outside of his delivery zone pizzas to the therapists at ATI where I had great service for therapy from Kara, Katie, and her other therapists. This was their favorite Aurelios they said and never go to any Aurelio's except the La Grange location. Eric was simply amazing and so customer oriented. When the driver got there - the doors were locked and lights out because they were all in a conference call and lock down at 1:00 on Friday - so Eric made the effort to call me and I called them and they went out and met the driver. They were so excited that they got the La Grange cheese and sausage pizza and I couldn't get over how Eric was so accomodating to help me so that I could send this thank you treat. He was awesome. I'll never again go to any other Aurelio's except Eric's Place in La Grange. read more

My wife said hers was delicious, my gluten free one also delicious, probably one of the best gluten free crusts I have tasted. Also, pick up was quick, when I ordered I expected them to tell me it will be an hour, they said 30 minutes and it was ready sooner than that as I got there ealry. One of the boys I used to work with used to absolutely SWEAR by the pizza at the Aurelio's LaGrange location, insisting it was "the best pizza in Chicago" (as long as I ask for the "old world oven" when ordering). I finally took him up on the recommendation and came here for dinner with my siblings on a very cold, snowy evening. We walked around the LaGrange downtown area, not entirely sure where we were going to eat. We walked by the Wood-Fired Pizza restaurant and decided to skip it because it was small and the ambiance didn't seen warm and inviting. Thus, we ended up at Aurelio's and I wouldn't have had it any other way. "This is exactly the atmosphere I'm looking for," my sister declared. "It has just the right amount of cozy and kitschy while still feeling a bit diner-y." There were tons of local framed photos adoring the walls, which took up a lot of space because of the high ceilings. The booths each have a placard with the names of different Western suburbs. We sat in Hinsdale and I noticed many others, including Cicero, Berwyn, Clarenden Hills, Brookfield, and Riverside. We decided to order a large thin crust pizza, which is their famous pizza, with fresh garlic and sausage as toppings ($2.25 each). I was worried that thin crust might be too thin or soggy, as many thin crust pizzas can be, but this one was perfect! It definitely had some thickness to it. The fresh garlic was perfection. There were nice big chunks of delightfully fresh garlic--my favorite! Aurelio's definitely has some of the best pizza I have tried to date in the western suburbs. Even though we were full, we couldn't say no to the deep dish cookie dough dessert (it's $6 and serves 2-4). It had ice cream, whipped cream, and was sinfully decadent. Don't skip this! Overall, my only complaint is that service was a bit slow despite it not being crowded. There seemed to be a lot of staff standing around and watching the Golden Globes. That being said, they were all perfectly friendly! I look forward to coming here again for pizza in the future, especially so I can share it with more people! read more

Grew up eating Aurelio's from Oak Brook Terrace and Downers Grove. I haven't had it in years but since by Dad moved to La Grange I picked up a pie for me and him The good is that it was ready on time. The staff at the front desk were great. They fetched the pizza in mere seconds and it was hot and exactly what I ordered. We ordered for take out but the dining room itself is quite nice. They have a bar area and booths along the wall with pics of all the train stations along the West suburban Burlington Northern train line. So why three stars? I'm sorry but for a 13 inch pizza the cost was really hight. And, what pizzeria has 13 inch pizzas? 12", 14", 16" yep but 13" what the heck is that? Anyway, I ordered it thin and crispy and it was tasty but $22 for a 13 inch two topping pizza for carry out??? Mushroom and sausage. Yep, I didn't order canary tongues on toast points or fois gras on organic flat bread folks. Nope, just your basic S and M pizza. The crust wasn't rolled and I do appreciate the art of that but nope, that was your basic pizza with two of the most basic toppings on a flour crust. No whole wheat or gluten free thing going on here. The cheese was minimal which is OK but if I'm wasting calories on a pizza I want that thing cheesed out to the max. Even my 89 year old dad with poor eyesight said "where's the cheese?!" Don't think I'll be back. I'm spoiled by so many Chicago and suburban pizza places that are better and priced appropriately. Aurelio's is a pizza place that satisfies the hungry soul. It's been a venerated Chicago area chain since the 60's, and my parents were ardent patrons of the original Homewood location in its early days before they moved. We all went here to celebrate my birthday, and ordered a thin-crust sausage pizza. My mom's been to several Aurelio's and believes they're all good, but all make pizza in their own different way. I believe this Aurelio's is great and is a welcome addition to the LaGrange restaurant scene, especially since most of the restaurants in the downtown area are more on the gourmet side and less on pizza / family fare. The pizza was great, and they were easy on the tomato sauce, which is a huge plus for me. Next time I have pizza at this Aurelio's, I'll wait for it to cool down a bit; the cheese tastes outstandingly good. read more

Pretty darn good pizza though this time around they went a little too heavy on the sauce. The best part about their pizza in my opinion is the cheese! Host staff is a little awkward but once you get past them everything else is smooth sailing. This is by far and away the best non-deep dish pizza in Chicago! We live downtown and order from the Aurelio's in the Holiday Inn at Congress but when the one in La Grange opened, we were blown away! The crust kind of tastes like it has cheese its crushed in it. I think I imagine that...but it is sooo yummy! We always get it with pepperoni and a pitcher of Miller Lite - perfect Friday date night. The only gripe I have (being a city dweller working in the suburbs) is there are a ton and I mean a ton of kids in crocs and north face jackets running around. When I roll my mouse pointer over 3 stars before writing this review, the description is "A-OK." Rolling over 2 stars says "Meh. I've experienced better." The pizza and salad were both good, as was the service. And the personnel were great. But.... all the warm fuzzies we were feeling about our meal disappeared when the bill arrived. $49 for one large pizza, salad for two, one beer, and one soft drink? Toss in a 20% tip (the service and food were good), and we're looking at almost $60 for a $30 meal. If money is no object, stop in and enjoy yourself - the food, personnel, and service are all good. But if you're interested in getting good value for your money, try someplace else. read more

5 stars means "As good as it gets," and in my opinion, this is the best darn pizza you can get in the Chicago area. Yes - better than Uno's, Gino's, Giordano's, Lou Malnati's... whoever. THEY ARE THE BEST for their "STUFFED PIZZA" (a tad lighter than most deep-dish pizzas in terms of topping quantity). The crust here is incredible - it's almost like a sweet pastry, flaky crust and all. For toppings, you really can't go wrong, but their meatballs are not to be missed! If you're looking to round out your meal, the toasted ravioli, while expensive, are delicious and make a great appetizer. And for dessert, they have free Dum-Dums for everyone at the table that they bring with your check. =] Want to save a few bucks? Go with take-out. (No drinks or tip to pay for!) We hopped on over just after we arrived here from Atlanta and dug in to our first REAL pizza since the last time we were in Chicago. First I need to give a shout out to the village of La Grange. What an amazing area! The shopping here is really nice- the stores and restaurants are all SO cute and it really does my heart good to see a thriving business district such as this these days. Bravo La Grange! Ok- back to the pizza. No frills for us- no sides just beer and pizza. So good! We ordered the "fiesta" size- sausage (REAL Chicagoans ALWAYS order sausage!), mushroom, onion and black olive. When it arrived we assumed there would be leftovers. No deal. We polished that baby off to the last crumb. Great crust, great sauce, great cheese and perfect sausage. A perfect 10 in my book. Go and enjoy! read more

Quickie review - yet another variant on pizza in Chicago. Not known for deep dish or, say, New York style, this place has their own very particular pie. Cheese: Not your typical mozz, this place uses a blend that I'm sure must include some strongly flavorful dry italian cheese (think Asiago), my favorite part. Sauce: sweet and salty (my wife grumbles when I order from here due to the obvious sodium load). I recommend ordering with extra sauce. Growing up, I remember hating Aurelio's with a passion. The ones in Orland and Tinley were gross rubbery messes. But after my BFF (I know it's not manly to say "BFF." Shut up.) took me back, I gave them another shot. I'm happy to say I was wrong because this is the best thin pizza I've had in a long time! I love what they do to the crust. The cheese kind of crisps up around the edge and melts in your mouth. The service is quite good too, and very friendly. The gal at the counter put a note on my account to let me know when downtown La Grange is hosting special events, so when I come it's almost impossible to park. Since it's my first time I always like ordering just a basic cheese pizza..the front desk girl was very nice, so was the guy I'm guessing he was the manager? Very friendly..and that's why this place receives a star..only for the friendly staff..pizza was over priced and greasy. Not at all worth the money you pay..crust tasted like chuck cheeses breadsticks and sauce was just bland..nothing special...save your money! First time and last for me! I grew up on this, in Homewood, so it holds a sentimental place in my heart. Joe ( Aurelio) and my grandpa were very good friends. It's crazy to see what my little pizza joint has blossomed into. This locations keeps it simple, like it should be. Service is USUALLY great, food always consistent. Their pizza is fantastic. But it's really expensive! I will drop serious money on food, but it always seems like double what all the other pizza places charge, with the exception of Lucca's. I grew up in Chicago appreciating great thin-crust pizza (Father & Son's, Pete's Pizza, even Rosati's) and this is NOT that. The crust was fair. The sausage was alright. The cheese seemed to be a blend of mozzarella and cheddar (yuck). My sister now lives in Hillside so I was excited to try a new spot in her neighborhood and this spot got the highest ratings. OK. I grew up with Aurelio's pizza on the South Side. This pizza is just like i remember it. I love the thin crispy crust. I like to be able to pick up a piece of pizza, and with this pizza, you can. I'm not a huge fan of tons of cheese. I think they use the right amount of cheese. The sauce is what gets me! It's not really sweet, so it's perfect for me. OK, now the reason it is 3 stars. I bought 2 large pizzas and it cost me almost $60. Now, I'm not cheap and we bought Aurelio's because we think it's the best in La Grange. But, there is no reason for it to cost that much. Pizza should not cost an arm and a leg. The owner bought me a beer, but that doesn't change the fact. It's pretty expensive. I'll probably keep going there, but not very often. We always tend to enjoy the pizza here , however the experience we had yesterday Sunday shifted my opinion. Pizza lead time was fairly long considering the restaurant was not busy. The main reason for two stars was absolutely horrible service. If you've ever felt like you had to try to not get on the nerves of a server this sums up the experience. I've been to Aurelio's in the past in Joliet and loved it. While in La Grange a few weeks back, I decided to dine at Aurelio's in hopes of some delicious pizza, pasta, and a cold beer. The host greeted us promptly and directed us to a table outside. About 10 minutes went by before I was even acknowledged and asked if I wanted a drink. My server was an older lady, not that it matters, but it took her another 10 minutes to even bring my beer back. And by this point we still haven't ordered yet. Slightly becoming irritated at this point, I ordered my thin pizza and my guest ordered pasta. The food arrived within a semi-reasonable amount of time, but our waitress kept sighing every time she brought something to our table. I understand that the hospitality world can be rough, but definitely never let your guests notice. The pasta came out looking rubbery, with barely a dollop of marinara on top. Before we could even point it out to our waitress she scurried away. At this point, I noticed the table behind me growing irritated so I decided to walk inside and scope out a manager. The manager was honestly just as short and inattentive as the server was. I immediately asked for a box and check. I'm an Aurelio's fan, and luckily this experience didn't steer me away. My best friend and her guy are all sorts of obsessed with this place, so it wasn't long before they dragged me out of the OP to LaGrange. Not being a pizza-and-beer kind of girl, I was a little skeptical that I would be super satisfied. Thankfully I was wrong! Got the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce, and the sauce was absolutely delish. Very filling and yummy, and I literally wiped the plate clean with bread. Even the pizza my bff ordered looked quite great. The restaurant is cute, and apparently this chain is run by a legitamate Aurelio-raised cook who spent months and months at the mother store. This was just okay for me. I'm not a huge thin crust pizza fan, so for me to rave about it, it has to be pretty fantastic. The pizza itself was pretty good - with one exception - we got sausage, onions, and mushrooms - and the mushrooms used were definitely canned. This is a pretty nice pizza restaurant in downtown Lagrange. The atmosphere is nice. It is near the railroad tracks, so there is a lot of railroad decor and photos. The restaurant itself is very clean and nicely set up. There is a small area for outside seating as well if that does anything for you. The staff was very friendly although we had one issue where some of our food was given to another table. Mistakes happen, so I wouldn't hold it against them. The food is pretty good. The pizza is tasty. The thin crust is all I have ever had and they do a great job with it. The ingredients are fresh. It is certainly not the best pizza in Chicago, but it is still pretty good. Besides pizza, they offer a myriad of other options like salads, pastas, and sandwiches. Price is very comparable to other pizza restaurants in the Chicagoland area. Large pizza is about $20-25. The location and the food make this place worthy of my time/money. I enjoy it and would recommend it. read more
