My go to! Love Aurelio's. Thank goodness I'm just out of the delivery area or I'd be broke. I love the stuffed and thin crust. I am a fan of the sweet sauce and pro tip from me is to get the thin crust well done for a little extra crisp (never burnt). The owners are so great and I am always greeted with a very friendly hello. This place has been here forever & we only live a couple of blocks away, so I'm a little embarrassed to say that we never tried their pizza. We finally did, a few weeks ago. There pizza has sweet sauce, if that is your thing. The thin crust pizza is decent. We ordered a stuffed pizza on Saturday for pick up. First off, you can order online, which I absolutely love - all restaurants should have this capability. The stuffed pizza came in a big flat box. At first, I thought maybe they gave me the wrong pizza, because stuffed pizza is usually about 2"-3" high - and would never fit into a flat box. So, their stuffed pizza is different, unlike any I ever had before. I say that, NOT in a good way. It was a mushy, saucy, thin mess. I like sauce - I really do, especially on stuffed pizza. However, the bottom crust was thin to begin with - and then it was saturated in sauce. There was a thin layer of cheese and sausage - then more sauce. It wasn't really a stuffed pizza - at least IMO. The cheese wasn't ooey-gooey, it was kind of chewy and squeaky. I think this is the first time we never finished a pizza and actually tossed 1/2 of it out. I cannot recoomend. read more

Usually constant with cooking instructions (well done) for me. Probably the closest taste compared to the Homewood location , then other Aurelio's locations that I have tried. No (old oven) options , but good ratio sauce & toppings. I grew up with the original location behind the kfc ? Where you entered from the rear door from the parking lot. (Free pretzels) I remember. Overall I enjoy an Aurelio's pizza once in a while, it's not the kind of pizza you can eat every time you crave a good pizza. Always a bit pricey than others, but when you been around as long as Aurelio's, I guess you can. Also found my daughters picture from twenty years ago on the wall inside the restaurant. I've ordered from the Palos Heights store six times and 3 orders were correct and 3 were very disappointing. Tonight I ordered a fiesta pepperoni pizza with fresh tomatoes and red peppers. Arrived home (nine miles away) and discovered no pepperoni and skimpy cheese. Another time it was an antipasto salad missing the half the toppings - no cheese, no ham, no peppers. I'm a fan of Aurelio's pizza in general. I probably have already reviewed them in Frankfort and in Mokena. But since we recently ordered a pizza from here, I thought it was time to review the smaller location in Palos Heights. We ordered breadsticks and a Large Thick crust pizza with giardiniera and mushrooms (our usual choice). First the breadsticks were not that good, and I'd definitely not recommend them or order them again in the future. I have had many thin crust pizza's from aurelio's but this is the first time I ordered the thick crust. It was really, really thick, and I was surprised. I expected it to be a little more thick but wow! Normally we splurge and have pizza and nearly kill off the whole thing in one night. This pizza got the best of us. We had a few slices and had to stop. It also tasted good the next morning. I would probably still prefer the thin crust pizza from here, but I wouldn't mind the thick crust every once in a while. Red sauce and mozzarella cheese were hardly there (had to check for the mozzarella cheese and the sauce was so scare we didn't even need a napkin). The sausage wasn't very good. Almost left 1 star, but I ate a lot of it so it had to be somewhat decent. The pizza produced some weird smell, almost like the crust marinated in box material. Seriously, the crust tasted like box. The top of the pizza looked good from first sight, however upon closer inspection, lots, and I mean LOTS, of seasoning on top that pretty much burnt. Yes, it's all black. Not fresh or green like oregano on top, but black. I thought it was a lot of pepper, but its not. Definitely not good. The sauce was very sweet, too sweet actually, but they put a lot on so it helped mask the flavor of the crust that tasted like box. The sausage was prob the best part, because it tasted like traditional Chicago style sausage pizza. The cheese had a weird color, almost a yellowish cheese. Had Aurelios for the first time in months last night and I was/am incredibly disappointed. The large pizza was very light on ingredients. I'm talking 1-2 pea-sized pieces of meat per piece of pizza. The ingredients were so light that I don't feel like I received what I actually asked for because it was so sparse. I used to have this aurelios 2-3 times per week a few years ago, and I don't plan on returning again. Big disappointment especially when you can go a mile in any direction in Palos and get a better pizza, similarly priced, and better quality. UPDATE: I received a notice from the manager of this location and he apologized. He went above and beyond to correct the situation. I ordered another pizza from here two weeks ago. It came 2 hours after I ordered it and it came raw. When I called the restaurant, the manager had no clue what to do. I heart Aurelio's. Back in the day it was on 95th in EP, the now Sesame inn location for those who may not remember. They were one of the top places for pizza. Who didn't order a multitude of amazing ooey gooey calabreses in the 90s? I know we sure did. So imagine my dismay when it was closed down, and never to be brought back to my hood. Luckily Palos Heights knows what's up and has a carry out/ delivery location within 15-20 mins away. That long forgotten fantasy of the spinach calabrese was on my mind, so I decided to place an order for pickup. I wasn't sure if a medium was gonna do it, considering my massive salivating fest. Guy on the phone didn't seem in the mood to entertain me asking if a medium was sufficient for 2 people to have leftovers. "I can't really answer that question I mean-uh it's kinda hard to say, I don't know how much you eat." Lol okay whatevs. We ordered the medium spinach calabrese and small Italian salad. Pizza was outstanding, has not changed one bit. Salad was good but the real stunner was of course the calabrese. FYI the medium is only enough for 2 if you don't want leftovers..I way under calculated how much we would eat. So go with large because it's still good reheated. read more

Maybe because I grew up in Bourbonnais and the pizza there is to die for.... but this Aurelios is below average. We order the Spinach Calabreze all the time in Bourbonnais and it is full of spinach, cheese and garlic. The clabreze from here is nothing! Called last Saturday to order pizzas, order 2 regular thin crusts and then proceeded to ask for 2-10 inch gluten free pizzas, the girl on the phone at Aurelio's asked me to hold on (keep in mind they have a 6 inch & a 10 inch gluten free crust), she comes back on the phone and says all they have is a small at that location (In my mind that's the 6 inch), she never said the small was the 10 inch, so I proceeded to order 3 small gluten free pizza's. She gives me the total and I hung up, all of a sudden it dawns on me, that sounds like too much $$$, I go online and compare prices and its almost a $25 difference. I arrive at Aurelio's to pick up the pizzas and discuss the difference with a nice young man who showed me that their small gluten free crust is the 10 inch crust, so here I was ordering more than I needed, I should have made them take the 3rd one off my bill and let them eat the loss instead of being a nice guy. Beware when you order the pizza you want, make sure if you talk to a girl there that you verify what size in inches the so called size you are ordering.
