I called Cold is on the Right, they said they had a sonar device & camera & could get to us that day. I asked what they charged & was told, "$344 for the 1st hour & $200 per additional hour." The area in question was ~10' in diameter. Billy arrived, looked at everything & I asked, "about how much does this kind of job run?" He replied, "repairs like this normally run about $970." That translated to about 4 hours total to find & fix the leak ($344 for the 1st hour + $200 for each additional hour). It was Friday afternoon, we were losing 18 gallons per hour so we agreed to have Billy fix the leak instead of waiting until Monday. ALL of this was VERBAL...no work order & nothing signed. BUT, Billy didn't have the sonar with him even though I specifically asked if they had sonar equipment to locate our water leak. He found the leak in just under an hour, but he didn't have the PVC on his truck to fix the leak so, he had to go back to the shop for that & was gone 40 minutes. It took just under 1 hour to fix the leak including replacing a sprinkler pipe that they broke in the process & when he finished he said we owed $970. $970 for 2 hours of work!!! I questioned that & Billy said the $344 was diagnostics only & $970 was the fee so, I called the office & Austin said, "we don't have a work order for your job." That's because there was not one. He then asked, "did they use any tools?" & when he asked that the second time I replied, "2 shovels" to which he replied, "we charge for tools AND we normally charge $125 extra for same day service." The lady I first spoke with never mentioned "diagnosing rates vs repair rates or additional cost for same day service much less a charge for tools." The office manager, Sydney did give us a 10% discount because we live in Lakeway & she agreed to a lack of communication on their part that she would address. This is not our first rodeo. I am 77, my husband is 81, we've built 7 homes & remodeled 6 others & $436.50/hr is OUTRAGEOUS! I cannot recommend this company.

They've got you over a barrel when they come out and start throwing parts. This was an install of a drop in kitchen sink and faucet. He told me his hourly rate was 135 bucks. I was expecting to spend about 400 maybe 500. The final bill was 850. I feel I was overcharged on both the parts and labor. He charged me starting 45 min before he got there but still included a "truck charge." The removal and replace of the sink took 2 hours. To me the "clock" starts on the labor at the agreed upon arrival time. When I'm getting charged 439(!) bucks for parts on top of the sink and faucet itself, that extra charge for labor is quite unwelcome. I mean the sink and faucet itself that were "nice" were like 500 bucks. So almost that again just in parts. ‍ His answer in general as I look at these reviews is that he buys his parts from a plumber supply not Home Depot etc. I would have to research each individual part to see if its price point is "fair". A perusal of solid brass fittings and pvc p traps on the Lowe's site shows the price I paid was about doubled. He acted quite insulted that I wouldn't know just how much better his parts were and implied they were all but unavailable at big box stores. literally doubling what I expected to pay was quite a shock to say the least. It is what it is. If I was able to do it myself, I would've. Live and learn Learn a trade kids lol

A couple of weeks ago I called Austin Plumbing (referral) and had them come out to take a look for me to see what the issue for my downstairs tub not draining was. Chesley (Technician) came out and did his thing and talked me through every step he was taking and we discovered the "root" of the problem which was just that. Roots had broken through the pipes and fortunately my HOA ( I live in a Condo) if responsible for anything from the Studs outward so they are not handling this major problem for me. I can say that Chesley was so super professional, very polite and not a forced polite either a very genuine man. As a single woman, this is all very important to me, creates trust and that is huge!!! Austin Plumbing did a great job of cleaning out my main sewer line during the bitter cold, big freeze. Chestly and his partner didn't give up even though the larger auger wouldn't fit. They worked hard in the wet freezing rain and snow until the job was done. I recommend them highly. read more

I asked multiple companies for a quote and Zach was available same day. He initially didn't want to provide a quick quote without seeing everything in person, but I pleaded and he eventually gave me a range of estimates based on what he knew and they were all reasonable (relative to the Austin market) . It frustrates me as an impatient homeowner when I can't get immediate quotes, but I think the need for companies to see everything in person is probably a good sign. He doesn't want to just tell people what they want to hear to get in the door and then surprise them when the price changes because something about the project made it more difficult. He was then willing to answer my technical questions about potentially repairing my existing water heater and even some local parts stores I could look at for the components that weren't working for my existing water heater. We also talked about CoA rebates, heat pumps, and all the options for water heaters. Companies have a lot of incentive to gatekeep this kind of information and Zach was willing to just help me out as I formed a plan that took my current budget into account. I ended up replacing my own water heater, but I am a stubborn, frugal person. Zach's customer service, availability, and reasonable quotes are appreciated. If my financial situation improves, I'll probably be giving him a call next time I have plumbing needs.

When we began hearing a "gulping" sound coming from under our IPE wood deck in our backyard. We…read moreimmediately suspected it was being caused by a leak in the waste line that services the guest bathroom and zig zags through the yard to ultimately connect to the sewer line in front of the house, and knew this was an issue that required immediate attention. Unfortunately, our regular, trusted plumber was unable to schedule a repair for several weeks out and we were expecting company, who would be using that bathroom, the following week. After reading many online horrifying plumbing stories, we were wary of using a new plumber but knew we had to act fast. My call to another referral, after describing the problem, was met with an over-the-phone estimate of $2,500. Yikes! Despite being eager to get this repaired, I decided to get another estimate. Good Flow to the rescue! While they did have an initial charge to come out and provide a diagnosis and estimate, they told us it would be applied to the repair if they did the work. I called and spoke to Jessica in the office on a Thursday afternoon and their crew were here first thing Monday. Within less than 2 hours, they were able to carefully remove the 4 IPE wood boards, inspect the line, which had indeed become disconnected at a joint, repair it, replace the boards (undamaged) and pressure test it to ensure it wasn't leaking elsewhere - all for a very small fraction of what the other company had estimated. (I will add that we did have photos of the lines when they were installed before being buried and covered by the deck just in case we ever needed to locate them, so this helped; Good Flow told us to never lose these photos lol.) Good Flow was not only reasonably priced, they were professional, courteous and respectful. We are so grateful to have found these guys and won't hesitate to use them in the future.

We contacted Good Flow multiple times to have them return and finish the job. They scheduled a visit but never showed up, and subsequent calls and emails went unanswered. We eventually had another licensed plumber inspect the work, who confirmed that additional work was needed to properly complete the job. We reached out to Good Flow one final time in writing with the findings. We received no response. Issues can happen on a large plumbing job, but the complete lack of communication or effort to make things right is unacceptable. Unfortunately, we'll now have to pay another plumber to finish the work and cannot recommend Good Flow.

Unfortunately it wasn't repairable but he gave us the best quote for a new one and was in and out in less than 3 hours. If you're in the Austin area, I'd highly recommend ET plumbing, I guess the name came from Erik Tracey and not an alien abducting a plumbing company.
