The workers varied from really nice and helpful to grumpy and appearing to hate their jobs. The place in general is a money pit, but I think you know that going into it. We happened to get in on a BOGO special. Otherwise the price seems crazy high. The roller coaster was one activity that seemed to be running very inefficient. It took forever for them to load the carts. They did jump workers around to different activities so everything isn't always open and the times posted didn't actually match up to when they were open.

After dinner, my buddy and I decided to go into Tom Foolery just to check out their arcade game…read moreselection. That's when we found out that for $30 you could get one hour of free play on non ticketed games. We bought one card and were able to play the Walking Dead rail shooter, the entire campaign of the Halo rail shooter, and some Cruisin' to wrap up the night. It was a Friday night, so they were pretty busy but it's such a huge arcade that it really never is a problem. The staff were all super nice and made me feel welcomed. There is a pretty great selection of games at Tom Foolery. I do wish they had an NBA Jam style arcade machine or more "mature" games like Halo and Walking Dead, but beggars can't be choosers. If you've ever wanted to just be a guy and run through full arcade game campaigns, the Tom's Power Hour deal is absolutely worth it. I will be back one day to beat the Jurassic Park campaign. After you're done, there is a playground for the kids and a nice "western town" area for photos. There are more attractions like a little train for kids but it was shut down so I don't know if they're working on it or what. Don't get your expectations up for the sights on the train ride - it's not much. A soccer field and then it's just dry brush / trees. One of the most disappointing elements was that there was no info given on the ride (saw speakers so the conductor could have talked). According to their website, the train takes you through the hideout of Sam Bass (outlaw that died in Round Rock) so that would have been cool to hear about. If you have to eat one thing while you're there, do yourself a favor and order a bucket o'fries! This isn't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill fries. They must be coated in fairy dust and deep fried in unicorn tears--they're that good! If you want to splurge, get the bucket o'cheesey fries--trust me, you won't be disappointed. We have come to know the owners as we go so often, thus when you visit The Mighty Thomas Carnival you are supporting a local business. The rides are fun and small enough that my 4 year old still has multiple ride options. I know that people sometimes are discouraged by the cost of going to a carnival. When you look around and see the cost of operating such a business, the cost of admission is totally appropriate. My kids love it the most and I do have this amazing nostalgic feeling walking around the midway, especially at night. It is such an enjoyable experience! Turns out that it has been broken for THREE YEARS. These races are pretty pricey, and they make you pay for an annual membership as well, so it's kind of crazy that they don't have a working AC in Texas. I asked if there were fans, and they literally have one fan. We waited an hour for a ten minute race. It was fun, and I can really see the appeal for teenage boys to flock here, which was the major demographic I saw. One of the employees was really rude when I didn't have my feet in the right place while he was doing the safety check. He could've just told me what to do politely, but he was so disrespectful for no reason. My car wasn't even turned on yet.

As 2 adults in our mid 30s, we thoroughly enjoyed the length of the trail, as well as the detail in the sculpture quality, and the plaques along the way that provide historic descriptions of each exhibit. It's a fun place, though, is highly recommended bringing a child along as it would make the experience even better.

My one tiny complaint is the lack of a trash can on the trail. One mid-way would help (maybe a T-Rex head lid, for fun). I had a wrapper from a melted protein bar and had to carry it. Overall, really fun activity for kids at a reasonable price (2 and under are free).

The major, and I mean major things was it was not crowded! Which was a huge relief for spring break and the crowds we dealt with every where else we went. The second MAJOR plus! Ok so value wise, you can look at it in two ways. The perks could outweigh the seeming thought of overpaying. It's waaaaaay cheaper than seaworld, or six flags. I can see it being worth more value if the water park section was opened. For right now, the fact the kiddos and even the misses could ride all day, and no long lines, make this a win for us. There are no token to buy, just all day wristbands. Yes the video games for the most part are dated. It's also not a huge park. There are four major rides outside. My family said the rollercoaster was a lot more violent and faster than they thought it would be. They were split whether they liked it or not. They also all loved the go kart attraction. We almost missed a small section in the inside towards the back. They had a bungee trampoline, a small rock wall, and a flight simulator! The family all enjoyed the flight simulator! Free. Oh yes. Free is good when you are entertaining the little ones. Free and lots of water. Kids…read morelike water. Moms like water too when they don't have to worry about their littles drowning in it. One of the few (if only) splash pads in P-ville. It's in the Falcon Pointe neighborhood and the several times I have gone during the day/morning it hasn't been crowded at all. Everything is clean, access to the bathrooms is great (clean as well) and there is lots of shade along the seat wall the borders the splash pad. There is a pavilion with picnic tables and playground in the same area as well. There are several berms that keep the kiddos from running into the street too. There is a large button that sets the water features into motion and it runs for about 2 minutes at a time. My son is a bit possessive of this button when we're out there (sorry other moms) and I've seen a few scuffles break out over the privilege of hitting the button next. There are buckets that dump water, jets that create water tunnels, little fountains safe for the younger kiddos, and lots of rubberized play surface. Best way to have a low stress cool-off day during summer in Austin.
