Everything is very SALTY! Tuna drip is very salty and I am a heavy salter. Crackers that it comes with are decent but salty as well so together they are not a good combination. Don't order the grilled scallops they tasted like their pan. I basically had tatertots for dinner because everything else was nasty. My husband had their "frozen" square piece of "red" fish which was dry. My son had their dry wings that were also salty. I would only recommend the hamburgers here! read more

We found this place on Yelp searching for shrimp and grits and my wife was pleased with their offering. She opted for the grilled shrimp and enjoyed the consistency and temperature of the food. We were in before 6pm so they were running some mixed drink specials and the Mrs opted for the "Mermaid Mule". The soup of the day was a chicken and sausage gumbo that I had with a side salad and a Jai Alai on draft. The gumbo was very filling and had a nice little kick to it. We're locals who had our first visit to Austons today, and we will definitely be back. AJ is an excellent server. Our family really appreciated his timeliness, friendliness, and professionalism. We really liked the lobster mac, citrus salad, the Goat Nashville hot chicken sandwich, lobster tacos, and hush puppies. Prices are pretty average for the area. First night in town, super late getting to dinner... found Auston's on Yelp and we were pleased to discover it was just up the block from our hotel. We got there and I was a little surprised to discover it's really more of a bar than a "kid-friendly" restaurant. We were greeted with a couple patrons outside the front door cussing at something or other and smoking cigarettes right by the entrance. We were seated immediately and our server was pretty quick to greet us and take our orders. My sons got the fried shrimp basket and Buffalo wings. Hubs got the blackened scallops and I ordered the mahi tacos. The scallops were good, the Buffalo wings were enormous and the shrimp were good, if a little skimpy on the shrimp and the tater tots were overly crispy. My tacos were okay- waaaaay too much slaw, but the fish was tender and seasoned well. Our meal was over $100, and for what it was, I wasn't exactly sure why. It turns out I got up charged for having hush puppies instead of fries, but we weren't told at the time- i asked if there were any other options and she said yes. She didn't say that there would be a charge. Oh well. TL;DR- not really a kid friendly, family friendly spot. But if you're adults looking for somewhere to hang with some decent food, give them a try. read more

This was a quick lunch stop for us, and we were pleasantly surprised! We didn't get any drinks, but the menu was thorough there. I got the fried fish platter, and my husband got fish tacos. The fried fish was cooked perfectly, the side salad was well made with leafy greens and a good size, and the grits were amazing. For $15/each we couldn't have asked for a better quick seafood stop before hitting the beach. I noticed they do live music Wed-Sat as well. read more

This was such a nice surprise! My family came here while on vacation while surrounding "touristy" restaurants had a 3 hour wait. Don't let the "no wait" fool you, it was delicious! We ordered raw oysters, fish tacos, and lobster mac and cheese (lots of lobster!). The oysters were ice cold and served with great accompaniments. They had lots of options as far as how you want your fish cooked for the tacos and the avocado ranch was spicy! The technology used here really made the restaurant efficient as well. So good that we ate here twice on our trip! Live entertainment both nights, which started about 6. Most of the time we miss out on live entertainment because we are early eaters. This place was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fantastic. We came here because there was an hour wait at another place. We had a party of 11 and we were seated immediately upon arrival at 630 at night. Servers were polite and answered all our questions. Meals came out correctly, quite the job for 11 people. The wonton shrimp rolls are a must! Stuffed fish was also fantastic. Lobster Mac and cheese was great and had a lot of lobster. Highly recommend! We had fried pickles, calamari, shrimp wontons, pretzel with beer cheese, an order of oysters and shrimp, the stuffed fish, the kids Mac and cheese, the kids fried fish, fish tacos and lobster tacos. This place was good but not great. One of the best things is they have the waitlist app so you don't have to send a line and wait to be seated. The mixed drinks were good and so was the pretzel appetizer. Our entrées were so so especially compared to the price. The atmosphere was a little strange and kind of like the restaurant wasn't sure what type of business they would like to be but felt like there were several locals there. This place was just okay. We ordered the buffalo wings and a mahi fish sandwich. The wings were good! The sandwich was subpar. I like the slaw that came on it, but the sandwich needed more flavor over all. I wish the bun had been toasted, and it was somewhat dry. A tartar sauce would have gone well with it. Liked the sports bar atmosphere and homey feel. Food and beer we had were both very good. Had the A30 blonde ales along with fresh grouper sandwiches. We absolutely loved the grouper and really liked how it had coleslaw embedded in the sandwich. Service was good, friendly and got us up to speed with history of the place and family who owns it and other locations in Nashville.
