True that! Over time, I've become totally skeptical about reviews. Used to be a great resource. Now, who the heck is actually writing these things? So, with a whacked out looking car and little faith in what I read here, I nevertheless gave Jay a call. His location was a winner. I've never had car detailing done before and didn't have a clue what to expect. I guess, I expected to pretty much toss $175 out the window and never try it again. It would just be paying someone else a lot of money to vacuum out my car because I was getting too old and lazy to want to do it myself. My car was a 96 nostalgia car (ok, nostalgic only to me) that I had just bought. The previous owner had a dog and hairs were everywhere, the carpeting full of stains. The "way back" of this micro-minivan had tar or grease on the carpet that looked like it had been poured out of a bucket. The outside was a hopeless mess, the original red paint job pinked-out by years in the sun. You get the picture ..but it drives like a bat out of hell. When Jay took me downstairs to get the car after it was done ( only took about 3 hours and he squeezed me into a cancellation), it didn't even look like the same car -- inside or out. Out? I thought they only vacuumed. The inside was immaculate but, no sh#^t, the outside had been totally resurrected. The darn thing was actually red again!! How Jay did that I'll never know, but it was more than shocking. The inside, when I looked at it after taking my jaw off the floor, was pristine, all the dog hairs gone and the "way back" was spotless! The other reviewers, here, who gave Jay 5 stars and wrote "car like new" aren''t plants after all. Heck, and even if they are ( just kidding) they're right. I was so impressed by Jay's work that, when my friend bought the exact same car - a 96 in white - this past weekend, back in we went. Now we have a two-car convoy of these NOW-fabulous odd little cars. Typically, there's absolutely no quality in anything these days, no pride, no worksmanship, nothing ...or is there. Just wanted to share a quick note on my great experience with Auto Detail Chicago. For weeks, I've been meaning to have my car washed but honestly... who has the time? Add in all of the rainy weather lately and I've just been putting it off for ages. When I got an email from a coworker letting us all know what a great job ADC had done with his car and how convenient the location was, I finally decided to bite the bullet and check this place out for myself. I couldn't be more glad that I did. Based on previous reviews, I knew ADC was hard to find. When I called, not only did Jay give me clear directions (take the ramp down on LaSalle at Kinzie, take your first left, he's about 100 yards down), he told me to call him when I got close so he could walk me through and wait for me outside. Great service before we'd even gotten started! When I got there, Jay walked around the car with me, let me know what he was going to do and asked me to point out any trouble spots on which I'd like him to focus. All of this, was done in about 5 minutes. He then walked me out of the building and pointed me in the direction of my office. At the end of the day, I walked the two blocks back to ADC where they held my car for me all day. Everything was ready and looking great when I showed up. Even the mud that had been caked onto my rims was gone. Everything looked brand new. I drive an LR3 with black trim which had started fading a bit in the sun. I don't know what Jay did but it looks perfect now. Again, he gave me a chance to walk around the car to check anything he might have missed and reminded me that if it rained that night, I could stop by for a free touch up the next morning. I almost doubled over from the shock. No one has ever offered a rain touch up! As I was leaving, they sent a guy to the top of the ramp to help me merge into rush hour traffic on LaSalle. Amazing. Today I got a call from Jay, just checking to make sure that I was happy with everything. Seriously? I couldn't be happier! Great service. Brand new looking car. Most convenient location ever! I picked up my car from Auto Detail Chicago less than an hour ago and I am so impressed I almost had to pull over and write this review on my way home! I cannot believe the time, effort and DETAIL that was put into getting my car just perfect. After reading through all the positive reviews I didn't think my expectations could possibly have been met, but Adam committed both over the phone and in person to the quality his detailers would deliver. I contacted these guys last Thursday and asked for an appointment on Saturday, unfortunately they were booked up so we made an appointment for today (Tuesday) I dropped the car off shortly after 9am and Adam called me at 2:00 to let me know he had gone over the car and it was 100%. When I picked it up, I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head as we went on a walkthrough of the work that had been done, confirming that everything was up to my standards (and believe me it was well beyond). I was quoted $195 for a full detail on my Mustang which I initially thought was high but now believe to have been worth every penny. From the seat rails, to the door jambs every square inch of my interior and exterior was brought back to life. A two year old coffee stain on the passenger side matt had also magically disappeared and they even shampooed the carpet in the trunk! When I got my car into the driveway at home and took a really good look in the sunshine, I couldn't believe I was looking at the same car. The scratches I had made with my key around the door handle were gone, and the hood looked like it had been replaced with a new one! The only possible negative I would give these guys is that I had to wait a bit to get my car checked in and then again at pickup. This wasn't really a downside though, as I did feel like I got a truly personalized experience. If I could give these guys six stars I totally would, Auto Detail Chicago has my business I'll look forward to seeing them again after the winter to make my baby perfect for summers to come! read more

First, I just want to thank Jay for being so awesome and great over the past year. I've taken my car to Jay 6 or 7 times and would recommend him to anyone and everyone, no matter how nice the car is. Jay deserves all the praise he has received here and more. No matter what I say, it won't do him and his team justice, but here I go... 1. Customer Service. Jay provides the best customer services I have ever seen across any industry. Not only is he flexible with scheduling and fair with pricing, but he truly looks out for the car and owner. Two quick examples: A) yesterday, I found some hard water and rust spots on the hood and roof of my SUV (needless you say I was pretty upset about it), so I called Jay, swung by his shop this morning and free of charge, Jay spent 10 minutes buffing out the damage and making it look perfect and B) when he was detailing my gf's car a few months ago, he noticed that the front right tire had a huge bulge in it and that it was slowly leaking air, so he called us and recommended a great tire shop to go get it fixed quickly. The peace of mind you get from going to Jay is priceless and he definitely goes above and beyond. 2. Quality. I am very particular about how my car looks and nothing frustrates me more than getting a car wash and it not being perfectly clean. Jay has amazing attention to detail and makes sure that literally every exterior and interior surface is beautiful. He uses top of the line products and has a great staff to help him make my SUV look consistently 100% every time. I use to keep my car pretty clean. Recently due to a chaotic schedule, my vehicle had taken the lowest priority. Basically fuel it up and drive. Parking in downtown lots had run havoc in terms of door dings and bumper scratches. Not to mention, although I own a 3 pound poodle that does not shed, I managed to let my brothers bull mastiff and boyfriends shar pei have the full privilege of being transported in my Lexus....hair, paw prints, window licks the works. When looking at the car I became overwhelmed and disgusted. Getting the new car itch with no money, I decided to google auto detailers in the area where I work. I contacted Jay, he was very friendly and possessed a high level of integrity. He was prompt in scheduling the appointment. He was helpful to make sure I had no problems finding his location. He did a pre-inspection of the vehicle upon my arrival and told me what to expect. Upon picking up the vehicle, my expectations were exceeded. The car was show room quality. It was so clean, I did not want to get in. Pet hair and smell gone, paw prints gone, food in the seats...gone. Even 90 percent of the scratches were gone. Jay is one of the most professional in his trade that I have met. He even put some loose change that he had found on the floor of the car in a bag. The location is clean and Jay's appearance was very neat. Another plus is he always answers his phone and when he does not, he calls back immediately. Would highly recommend his services. I imagine that it's probably not super-hard to make a 2009 Porsche look clean and shiny... but what impressed me about Auto Detail Chicago is that Jay was able to take a beat-up, hard-driven, dirty-as-all-Chicago-Winter 1996 Volvo and make it look like it just rolled out of a showroom. To me, that's the true test of an expert detailer - he made a difficult detail job on a daily-driver look effortless. In fact, I originally took my car to a fairly respected car wash up on Southport Avenue, and they told me it was "too dirty to detail." As well as being mildly insulting, (hey, we know it's an old car, doesn't mean we don't love it!) it made me think they probably didn't take pride in their business. Then I found Jay here on Yelp... He personally met us at the door coming and going, and treated me just as kindly and with as much attention to detail in the cleaning as if I'd brought in some $150K show pony car. Believe it: this place is for real. This is the best my car has ever looked, and the price is a steal compared to the radical transformation in appearance that Jay wrought between dropoff and pickup. I did a lot of research before taking my car to this place to get detailed. Still I was a bit apprehensive as I'm always a bit skeptical about reviews. Although I live in Chicago it wasn't exactly very close to me but I made the efforts to take my car here and it was 100% worth it. Zak (who I believe is the owner) is wonderful to work with and a good honest straight forward guy. I had a full detail done on my vehicle and it came out looking wonderful. I would give the detail a 9/10 and I'm pretty picky when it comes to grades since I normally do my own work. This place also offers many other services such as tints, audio, etc so it can be a one stop shop. While its not the cheapest deal in town, its worth the money to go somewhere decent and hand your keys to somebody you can trust. I would absolutely take my car back here again and would highly recommend this place to all in the Chicago area. My only complain is that they are very busy! But that's not really a bad thing I guess.. I'd rather be more flexible with my time and get a good job than have a place rush and treat me as its next $ without building a relationship. Got to go with Jay! Jay was the a very professional, and really friendly person to his customers. I made a last minute appointment with him that same day to get my car detailed, at the special offer that he is offering right now for full service, car washed, waxed, and interior detailing. I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima, and I'm a very busy college student, so if you want to see a junkie car with books, and papers everywhere, checkout my car! However, I dropped off my with him stop at a Starbucks to study, and Jay is calling me already! My car was perfect! Jay removed stains out of my carpet and dirt marks off the vinyl that I thought that couldn't be removed. I went into my car and it's like I just bought it from the dealership, all that was missing was the new car smell, wish that had a spray for it, because I could of pulled it off as being one. He also left a nice folded lint blue cloth on top of the front center console, for dusting off later the dash board once the car began to get dirty again. Which gave the theme of a five star hotel. One phrase describes it all...Jay is a miracle worker! So I did a Google Map search for the closest auto detailer to my work and Auto Detail Chicago showed up. Took my car to Auto Detail Chicago that I was given. Car was a mess, mess as in, I wasn't expecting much since it was in too bad of a shape. (Windows were yellow from sitting out too long, inside was filthy with stains, spills, pen marks, paint was rough like sand paper, and the list goes on) I felt bad for bringing in such a car. But dropped it off in the morning, Jay came to greet me in the front door, took my car away and he called me in the late afternoon and said my car is ready. So I go to pick up my car and...I was blown away. Car literally smelled and looked new! I could see through my windows, paint was smooth as butter, no marks inside at all. Car was literally brand new! (Wish I had taken some before and after photos) To top this all off, Jay's customer service is amazing. He makes sure things are right and the way you want it to be. I wanted to get the interior of my car cleaned before taking a driving trip with a friend. This was the first time I got the car detailed since I purchased it in 2002. I searched the internet for auto detailers in the Chicago area. Though Auto Detail Chicago was located near the Loop, and I live in a northern suburb of Chicago, I decided to call Jay after reading several extremely positive reviews. Boy am I glad I got my car cleaned by Jay! From the time I first spoke with him on the phone to the time I drove away in my newly cleaned car, Jay was very polite, friendly, and professional. He met me on LaSalle St. both when I dropped my car off and again when I arrived to pick it up. And the car...it looked like it was brand new! The crud in the cupholders and the stains in the carpet were all gone. The interior was spotless! The cost for his service is very, very reasonable. It was much lower than other detailers I called. I would definitely have Jay detail my car again! I definitely recommend having your car cleaned/detailed by Jay! Found this place on Yelp and couldn't have been happier with the service. Jay, the owner, was amazingly attentive and I had an awesome experience. I bumped my girlfriends Range Rover Sport into the wall and had some paint transfer by the wheel well. Needless to say she was NOT pleased. I assured her it wouldn't be difficult to take care of, but she was obviously peeved and I knew I needed to take care of this fast. I called Auto Detail and Jay answered the phone. He told me to bring the car by the next day and he would see what he could do. A few hours after dropping off her car, Jay personally called me and told me the truck was ready. I went down to his garage and was amazed at what I saw. The car has never looked that shiny and new (and my girlfriend gets her car washed EVERY WEEK) since we have been together. AWESOME! I called jay and he told I can come the next day. My car had tar and grease on it from parking under the cta trains and the sun had baked it which means it was extremely hard to get out. I went to two other places and they couldn't get it out so based on the reviews on yelp I called. Jay came out and looked my car over and said he can get it out. I was going out of town so I needed it back the same day. He said no probelm! Because his place is a little hard to find he met me out front and when I picked up my car he came back out front to meet me and took me down to do a walk around my vehicle and it was GREAT! He used the clay bar to get everything out. The best thing about Jay and his staff is they are honest and trustworthy. I left my IPOD in my car (I honestly forgot about it) and Jay gave it to me stating his staff found it as they were cleaning the car. I've been using auto boutique for some time and came to find out that they also are partnered with this detail company. I dropped my Audi off for service and Adam recommended a detail. I'm not the kind of person who destroys their car, nor am I the kind who keeps it immaculate, it's a city car at the end of the day. I thought what the hell this car hasn't had more than a 3 dollar auto wash and a quarter op vacuum since I've owned it so I sprung. Boy am I glad I did. You don't realize how screwed up your car is until it's brand new again and they knocked it out of the park! These guys know their stuff when it comes to repairing high end cars and that knowledge and attention to detail translates right into the buff and wax. They literally "repaired" my paint. I found this business on Yelp. i was curious about how good this really was. i had a chance to find out when i bought a new car for my wife. Faced with having to prepare our old car (Honda Pilot) for sale, we decided to give it a chance. all i have to say is WOW! Jay is a maverick in cleaning and detailing. we have 3 kids and our car was definitely 'used'. After ~ 5 hrs the car was brilliantly detailed. not just clean, but showroom detailed! he got rid of many superficial paint scuffs i didn't think we could get out. i love the clay treatment that brought out the luster in the paint that years of use had changed. This is how an auto detail should be!!! this is a hidden gem and i would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great auto detail. you will not be disappointed. I have recently relocated to the Chicago area and was looking for an expert to carefully take care of my car. I drive a limited edition Volvo XC90 Ocean Race. I did my research and found Jay on Yelp. When I dropped my car off he went through the entire vehicle and asked me if there was anything I wanted him to work on. Not thinking about it much I went to the office. When I picked up my car I was extremely impressed. My car didn't look that good they day I picked it up from the show room floor. He not only made it shine like it had never before but it went through every detail that it he had covered. I within a few hours of being home had already schedule to bring in my 2010 Volvo S40R. This place is really good. We will definitely be using them again and have been recommending them. They were professional, detailed oriented - did an amazing job with the car - and they were very reasonable priced. We like to have our cars detailed once a year. We had taken our car to another place for detailing. That place did something to the interior of the car that it stunk. After several failed attempts by the other detailing shop and leaving the car wide open for over a week to air it out, we reached out to Auto Detail Chicago. It took two guys 8 hours to get the smell out but they did take it out. Great, great, great service. Well done. Another reviewer talked about difficulty contacting them. Needing to have my car detailed, I searched online for a nearby auto detailer and found several options. Based primarily upon outstanding YELP reviews, I went with Auto Detail Chicago at 325 N LaSalle, and I can only reiterate what the other YELP reviewers had to say about this place. The operator, Jay Philips, could not have been more conscientious, attentive to detail, prompt, easy and friendly to deal with, and skilled at what he does. I picked up my car yesterday, and was thrilled with how Jay truly made the car look like new. I didn't shop pricing, so I can't say whether the $125 fee (for the most extensive detailing) was high, low or reflective of the going market rate. But based upon the job Jay did, I recommend Auto Detail Chicago without hesitation, and I plan to go back. read more

I gave Auto Detail Chicago a shot after reading the Yelp reviews and left as a fully satisfied customer. Granted, it was a little hard to find, but well worth it in the end. I was pretty upset when I saw a huge stain on my driver side door from a leak that had occurred in my parking garage. 2 regular car washes didn't do the trick, so I searched for nearby detail shops in the loop to remove the stain. Jay was very professional, honest, and did not try to oversell anything. When I asked about doing a wax, he said that the stain could be removed without having to do that. When I returned after 45 minutes, my car looked like new and there was no trace of the stain! Jay even threw in a microfiber cloth for me to wipe down my dash in the future. read more
