Auto house of Clovis has had my car for over a month. I took it in to get a preventative maintenance inspection 3 months ago. I was told it's got a few small little things. Scheduled an appointment to have my car taken back in to get them addressed. When dropped off I was told they would have to get into it a bit further to figure out what engine I had so they could buy the right gaskets for this and that. (I'm not a mechanic so I took their word for it). Granted just a month prior I had taken it into THEM. Couldn't they have figured out what they needed to complete the job they are telling me it needs? While it was in house, I was told it was running a little rough. (Not calling them liars, said ok, well let me know what you're thinking). After awhile, I was told the engine wasn't broken in properly and the lifters had mushroomed. (Well that sucks, but ok. Definitely want my vehicle in tip top shape). Let me know what we're looking at, as I can't and won't be just writing a blank check. I would call weekly, one time even 3 times in a day just to get an update on what was going on. It's been 27 days since they finished the repairs from my PMI inspection that I had at their shop, which took a few days to do. No problem. Then I got nothing but the run around for the next month. Lifters and cams couldn't be sourced due to the Covid, job shortage, warehouse shortage, people sick, people getting cancer, maternity leave etc etc. All real things yes, I'm aware. However, none of those things are "my" problem. It took me physically driving to their business, showing up unannounced to find out my cams and lifters were delivered "yesterday". Thought that timing was interesting so I asked for the shipping label/confirmation that the parts I've been waiting for 27 days did in fact show up just yesterday. I was told, "We use so many different vendors, that's not something we get." Well that's the furthest from the truth. Every single company is going to provide shipping tracking, so they can ensure the package did in fact get delivered so people can't just rip them off, and get products for free. I then get dragged into the owners office, so I can have the run around continue. Being told about a machine shop they use and people are out due to cancer, or maternity leave. Again, terrible and real things. Then get told, "That they should have pushed my repair appointment out months, and we worked you in. We have a lot of vehicles here and 3 people work on new and 3 people work on old. We're working your vehicle around our other vehicles." How are you working my vehicle "around" other vehicles when mine has been there for over a month? "What do you want from us?" Well I'd like to be kept in the loop as to what's going on with my property, while it's in your possession. I'd like to be informed when parts arrive, that we've been "waiting for 27 days to get", I'd like to have a financial idea of Where we are sitting as you proceed with the repairs your business is doing to my property. "So you just want us to put it back together and get you out of here, as we evidently aren't meeting your needs." Well..... I mean that's legitimately all that there is left to do, right? Engine is taken apart. You have the new cams and lifters. What I was told 27+ days ago I needed. So yea that's what I want. Being told 1hr more of labor is going to take another 2-3 weeks to get completed. Bringing the total of days in shop to 45+ and counting at time of typing this. If you're wanting communication and to be kept in the loop with financials regarding repairs I'd choose a different shop. I can't speak to their quality of work, just quiet yet, but after a PMI, and a completely rebuilt top end I'd sure expect not to have any problems. I'll report back on that. I was recommend Auto House of Clovis, but after my month and a half long experience.... I'll be going elsewhere from here forth. I was called and told it was ready and drove 3.5 hr to pick it up, to have it making terrible sounds. Let alone my door handle was broke and my door panel paint was scratched to primer. He threw some touch up paint over the top as of that was suppose to make things right. He told he me it would take another 2 days to tweak. 2 weeks after that "two days" it's ready. Our 1958 Studebaker had very poor welds by a shade tree mechanic on the engine mounts. The car had a Chevy 350 motor installed and it was dangerous. AutoHouse took the motor out, reinforced the chassis, built new professional motor mounts. They also recommended some upgrades to the motor, repainted it. They also resealed the differential and transmission. A total thorough professional job. Very happy with the results and the price was reasonable for what they did. 5+ Stars!! read more

So, I really thought about posting this review. I honestly moved on from these experiences , but something just doesn't sit right with me. First Experience: I'm from LA & visit my fiance who works for the government here every week. That means I drive a lot. I took my 06 Saab 9-3 here for a basic oil change, no lights were on. I've never had an issue with this car, and it has been extremely reliable. My family has owned over three Saabs, and myself has owned two Volvos before and know these Swedish tanks have their quirks, but are fairly reliable cars. Not only that I'm a gearhead since birth. I dropped my car off for the first time for the oil change without any problems. I came back that day or the next to pick it up with my fiance. I'm in line to pay and some guy who works there, maybe hes the owner idk or care came to the register , and asked how I was going to pay and and he said a credit card? (I didn't have ANY card in my hand). I said no with a debit card, he immediately said you know I don't want to run your credit up. I was pretty shocked that he would not only assume I was paying with credit , but then to also make that crude comment assuming I live off credit. Anyway I got over it, didn't let it affect me. Not even three weeks later, my car has a freakout while in traffic. Something its never done before. The car started to lose power, thankfully I was close to home to limp it back home. I was clearly annoyed that it broke down here, and not in LA where my family mechanic of over 15 years is. So I for some reason brought it back here. Fast forward to me paying for this service , I'm the last in a line of two to three customers. Being the observant person I am, I start listening to how he addressed these customers whom were all white. He joked with them, never asking how they were going to pay, or making those ridiculous comments he said to me weeks prior about credit. I'm still in line and realize I left my iphone aux adapter in my fiances truck , I run out to get it and quickly get back in my place in line which had not moved still. I kid you not the first thing this fool says to me when it's my turn is "I thought you were going to tell you forgot your wallet"...disgusting right? So I pay this man $350 and immediately start looking for another shop in the area, which I should've done already I vowed to never return to this place. And guess what , my car is having an issue already. I'm not saying this guy is a racist. I'm simply stating my experiences as a young black man and how they reaffirmed my understanding of prejudice. This guy was making assumptions based on the color of my skin , fucked up but that's the world we live in. I can't say enough good things about this shop. My daughter and I were traveling to Clovis for a big regional swim meet and had issues with our rental car while traveling from San Jose to Clovis. The rental car company offered us no assistance and my insurance company urged me to get the car into a mechanic that day (Friday). I called all over Clovis and no one would get us in, and then I spoke to Joey at Auto House of Clovis. Joey was kind, listened with compassion and expertly described what he believed was going on with our car. Not only did he and Darrell get us in that day (a Friday afternoon I might add), but he let me wait to bring it in so I could finish watching my daughter's meet that day. It was so clear upon arrival that this shop is top-shelf and their customer service is deserving of all their 5-star reviews. They quickly got our rental car up on the lift, diagnosed the issue with the gravel guard (just as Joey predicted), put in six new pins, and zip-tied the cracked portion to the bumper and we were on our way. In addition to all of this, they wrote up a report for my insurance company, that there was no impact to the car, but rather poor maintenance following an oil change, and that the torn gravel guard was no fault of my own, but neglect on the part of the rental car company. Then when it came time to settle up, Darrell (the owner) smiled at me and said, "No charge." These guys saved our trip and got our rental car back in working order so we could safely get around town for the rest of the weekend and back to San Jose. Joey and Darrell and the rest of the Auto House of Clovis crew are the finest representation of professionalism, kindness, generosity and customer service, I've ever come across. I promise you this, the next time I'm giving a keynote on building brand loyalty, I'll be sharing this story. And all of this for a customer from Montana. I came in today for the first time in hopes to fix a strange noise coming from my front wheel that has been plaguing me for a while. I contacted Auto House of Clovis asking to have my wheel bearing replaced since that's what I suspected the problem to be. I was informed that they'll confirm what is indefinitely causing the noise to be sure the wrong part isn't replaced. After a few hours I received a call that my vehicle was ready and the problem wasn't a bad bearing, but a part on my brakes that's wasn't installed properly. I couldn't be more happy with the service I received. I've had too many bad experiences with other Auto Shops in the past and it's a relief to have finally found a honest business that provides excellent service and great prices. Side note: Even though I didn't have my wheel bearing replaced I did receive a quote just in case and their prices were the best in town. Brought in my 2008 BMW X5 because of misfiring codes and thought my car was a goner and would spend thousands fixing it. Come to figure out, I didn't plug in the coils all the way and that's what was causing the codes the whole time! Their 3 factors one should use when choosing a good quality mechanic shop. 1. technical competent 2. honest 3. advanced tech tools Darryl and his wife have all 3 and with William being on the front lines in the office this is a quality shop. Plus, the use OEM parts which insure your vehicle parts fit and the repair last. I had a remanufactured GM transmission installed in my car. William is a good service advisor communicating what I wanted resolved to the auto tech. He also kept me informed (as needed) with the process. They showed me the parts that were broken and gave me plenty of information. I never felt like they were withholding anything. Also, they have online tool that keeps track of service(s) performed on your vehicle, future appointments and recommended services. Basically their own version of Carfax. It's not that their the cheapest or the fastest but your vehicle will be done correct the first time with OEM parts for a fair price. read more

The Honda dealership told me I needed $2,000 plus dollars worth of service done on my vehicle. I called Clovis Auto house for a estimate on these items that I was told by Honda that needed repaired. I was told that the cost was $1,400 which would save me over $600. I took my Honda in for repairs and Travis from Clovis Auto House informed me that NONE of the things the dealership said needed fixed was accurate and that they all looked good. The problem ended up being the shocks. Bottom line, I saved a fortune by taking my car to Clovis Auto House. Highly ethical, courteous and takes great care of their customers! I had taken my husband's car here back in spring because he always used to get his Services done here. We had a problem with his car draining his battery so something in his car was pulling power off the battery even though the car was off. We knew going into this it would take them awhile to find the source of what was draining the battery. They had told us it would probably take about two days to find the source and then they would call us to tell us their report and what we needed. 2 days had passed and we received no form of communication and my husband and I thought to ourselves will give them another day because this could be a very complicated situation. After the third day we still haven't heard anything back from them so my husband gave them a call and was told they're still working on it and that they're very busy. We thought to ourselves no problem it must be very difficult trying to find what the heck is drawing the power off of this battery. 2 more days had passed and still no form of communication not even a call to say hey sorry we're busy we're getting to it. My husband then called again after them having our car for a week trying to figure out what's wrong and they finally figured out what was wrong and told us what we needed to fix our car. So we told them go ahead and do the repairs. Car was running fine until summer came in Fresno then we find out that they didn't truly fix the car they just bypassed my husband air conditioning because that what was causing the power drain. So now in Fresno in the summer my husband has no air conditioning and we had just had our baby. so now he cannot pick up our child from daycare because we have no cool air coming through the vents as well as he can't really roll the windows down because when you have a baby wind tends to stop them from breathing. And now that it's winter after we had asked them to make sure everything else in the car was running properly we come to find out that my husband's battery is dying and this is something we had asked them to check multiple times. I definitely would not recommend them to anyone even people I don't like. In fact I'd rather talk somebody out of using their services. It seems like we paid so much for them to just screw up our car even more. Just a bunch of crooks that don't fix your car at all and when you do have your car there they won't call you and let you know what's going on unless you call them. read more

In response to Courtney B concerning Mark G's posts. I am Randy (Randolph) G. I am Mark's Father I haven't been a customer of Auto House of Clovis for over four years, since I sold the BMW Z4 to my son Mark G. I would, however, like to set this conversation and the record straight. I didn't rate your shop when when I was a customer. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I will however rate it now. My rating is one star because negative numbers will not work in this system. When I owned the Z4, I read the shop reviews, it was close, so I took the car in for a service and to have the head lights adjusted. I have nothing to say about the service, I assume everything I paid for was done. It's another story on the headlights. When I asked that they be adjusted, they were aimed too high, on coming traffic would flash me thinking I had my high beams on. When I picked the car up, and turned them on that evening, they had not be adjusted, and we're still too high. The next day I returned to Auto House, and asked that they check the lights again because they were still too high, as high as when I originally brought in the car. At this ointment I sold the car to my son Mark G.. He drove it, and in the evening turned on the lights. They were still too high. Again the car went back with complaint that the lights were too high. Upon telling the service writer of the problem, he went to the shop and brought fourth a very irate mechanic, who proceeded to get in the car to move it to the shop yet again for the lights. He was so mad that when he started the car he proceeded to Rev the engine as hard as he could. The car was taken into the shower and returned to us. That evening when we turned on the lights, we found we couldn't drive the car because the lights had been adjusted so low they hit the road just in front of the car and were so low that we couldn't safely drive the car. I guess that will show us not to complain! The next day I drove the car to my shop (yes, I did mechanical and engine rebuilding for a different industry for over 38 years), I hit up Google for the headlight parameters, set up an area in my shop, and had the headlights set correctly in a matter of minutes. They haven't been adjusted since. My involvement in Mark G's experience with Auto House involved the following items: 1. I dropped him off. 2. I called Auto House When Mark G informed me that they were going to charge over $350 to replace a radiator hose. I was concerned about the price. Reasons were explained. 3. I called once possibly twice to see if the repair had been completed. Courtney, I was never called when the vehicle was finished. My experience with automotive repair and rebuilding goes Back to when I was in the eighth grade. I'm now over 70. Been around mechanics all my life, including a major in collage. Mark G understands what systems do. What was that deal about explaining the difference between engine cooling and air conditioning. You should have asked your mechanics weather they undid an airconditioning hose to do the radiator hose and thermostat repair and then forgot to charge it. If you were implying that you know more than we do, guess again. Mark G is correct in stating that Auto House has a problem with communication: you assume that your customers are completely oblivious to what's going on. You can't perform as promised, and think so little of your customers, that insulting them doesn't bother you. Your past customers are not as gullible as you would like to believe, and insulting anyone's knowledge puts you on my NEVER AGAIN list.
