This might be a little long so the TL:DR is: this will be my new go-to shop I don't trust a lot of places that are in the business of selling. Many will try to sell you things you don't need so they can make a buck so finding a place you can trust that won't rip you off is pretty high on my list of priorities. I had a shop I could rely on where I used to live but they are too far now after moving to Addison and I've been doing my own general maintenance so I haven't needed to find a shop. Well, my 09 Vibe ended up making some noises at about 2400 RPM from the engine but ran completely fine. My mechanically inclined friend suggested that it's probably time to get a new car but I wasn't quite ready. I took it to this shop since it got great reviews and was told they'd check it out but it would be 1000 bucks for the engine tear down and reassemble and that's just to find the problem, not to fix it. I get it, but I wasn't ready for a new car yet so you gotta do what you gotta do and that price was in line with what I'd expect on an engine tear down for this area so I went with it. Got a call back about an hour later from Mike who asked that I come in real quick to meet with the master mechanic on duty so they came and picked me up (great service by the way) and they had me listen to the engine with a tire rod. We could easily distinguish that the sound wasn't from the cams or timing chain but was definitely in the base of the motor which meant $$$$$$ in repairs or even a new engine. Instead of charge me the $1000 dollars for the tear down, they did the honest thing and gave me their opinion that it wasn't worth it. That earned my trust right there. Fast forward 2 months later and my wife's car stalls on I-390. Engine shaking violently and has the throttle body light on. Get it towed in and they look at it first thing in the AM and give us a call, throttle body is in need of replacement along with wiring etc. Had the car back same day, parts/labor/inspecting all for ~$780. I gave it a few days before posting to make sure it was still solid and even put a few hundred miles on it to make sure. They did a great job and I'm happy with the work. On top of that, they let me know that there are some other small things that could be done, but of most importance was that they told me the brakes and tires were good. I had my wife go to merlin to get an alignment and they send her home with $1200 in quotes including new rotors/pads/tires to which I said absolutely not! I had just replaced the rotors and pads. My car had an issue with the rear driver side tire. Upon looking them up online I found they also had a groupon for their oil changes. I signed up since I had to take my vehicle in anyway. While there, I asked if they would also do a once over to my vehicle as I usually have this done once a year before our winter weather hits. They were able to do all of this quickly and efficiently. What was also different about this company is that they have an open garage policy, so they brought me back to my vehicle and had it on a lift to show me what was wearing down on my vehicle, what could wait etc. I didn't feel like I was being "sold" anything. They could easily explain to me the cost of a repair verses if the item in question failed and what that would cost. They took photos and documented each item so that whether I have work done there or not, I had the information and photos for proof. Items marked green were good, yellow-keep an eye on it but you have 6months-1year, red-should be done within 3 months max. It was easy to follow and emailed as well as a link texted to me. In addition, they offered a 10% discount if I was willing to do the repairs there. The tire was easily repaired, oil change done, and 3 repairs that I saw could not wait and withstand upcoming snow/salt/ice in IL. My car was done within one day while I was at work and they provided me a loaner car to get to and from their shop. They also called during the middle of the day to let me know the status of my vehicle repairs. I was never left wondering what was happening and was treated really well. I will definitely bring my car back to this shop when I need the next maintenance item done for my vehicle and I don't even live anywhere near this shop! read more

All good things do come to an end. I have been going to these guys in Aurora first then Lombard for probably over 2 decades. Trusted them. They were fair, reasonably priced and treated women with respect. 2 weeks ago went for an oil change. They didn't rotate the tires because the tread was the same. I understood that, however, Costco needed them rotated for the warranty. Then they tell me I needed a new water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and coolant flush for $1000. Said the water pump was leaking. After calling other facilities, the red flags going off. Several other places said, no need for a coolant change because it is already being changed!!! That was $200 they wanted FOR NOTHING! They asked me if I have heating or cooling issues, no I don't. Thermostat not needed, another $100. They asked me if I had leaking from my engine, no I don't, another $500-600. Took it to another place who charged me $80 to tell me I didn't need anything, that there was no leaking at all, per their pressure test. Never going to Auto Plus again (I believe they were bought out.) And they really should be paying my $80 bill since they were the ones who made me go to another place with their false claims of needing service. Then I also went to Costco to get tires rotated. Yet another waste of time. Additionally, previous times I was there, they said needed tires (I went another year before I had to replace) and that I needed brakes (went another 8 months before replacement). My mom suggested I call Auto Plus when I was having a bit of an auto emergency after hitting a railroad track wrong and knowing that I was looking for a new auto shop/mechanic. Best advice I could have received! Even though it was a Friday afternoon and I didn't have an appointment, they told me to bring it in and let them take a look and check its safety. They got me in pretty quickly and once they took a look, they brought ME back to take a look so they could explain the issues. I absolutely LOVE that they did that! My old place treated me with a sort of good old boys "listen to us sweetie, we know what we're talking about" sort of attitude, but here at Auto Plus, they took great effort to really explain the issues and help me understand. Once it came down to prices, they gave me a couple of options and explained the differences in the prices. Even better, since I couldn't drive the car home, they gave me a free loaner to use for the weekend. I loved how super straightforward and upfront they were with the pricing and the recommendations. When I came back for a followup (free!) and another issue came up, they took really great care of me. I look forward to continuing using their services in the future, from basic maintenance to (fingers crossed not needed) emergencies. Very helpful knowledge staff that does not in any way dismiss the customer's own experience and knowledge of automotive repair, if you know a lot about mechanics they will listen and give all due reverence to what you have to say and don't dismiss you or your understanding of automotive mechanics and even will engage you in reminiscent conversations of the way cars used to be easier for the DYI person to work on,and how now it's like the automotive industry has gone out of their way to make it near impossible to do your own work. Again helpful convenient and won't upsell, or push a repair that is needed but can be lived with if you don't have or want to put the money into your vehicle, only will push if it's a danger to you or further damage to vehicle. I had a brief encounter with the Auto Plus staff in Addison, but it was really pleasant. I was stressed out over buying a used car in Addison, miles out of my comfort zone and miles away from my trusted mechanic. When I called to make an appointment for a pre-purchase check-up, the staff was so friendly and professional, as well as flexible with the exact appointment time as I was not sure when I would make it there. The check-up took about 20 minutes. The mechanic explained to me what he was checking for, what to look for in general when buying a used car, his findings and what I should attend to (only a new battery) after buying the vehicle. Very comprehensive, very friendly and very stress free. And there was no charge for this service! I'm still in disbelieve. I have been a customer of Auto Plus for a few years now. But I want to extend a Huge thank you to Mike, and Mark for this last visit. I had brought my car in to get a thorough inspection done before my warranty expired. Of course everything checked out fine. However, they did bring several maintenance issues to my attention. Form start to finish Mike was in constant contact with me. He was up front, and honest, which I feel is extremely rare in his business. Mark, who was the Technician who worked on my vehicle, worked late one night to have my car ready to be picked up by the time it was promised. That's what I call excellent customer service. I recently moved to Addison and was looking for an auto repair shop. Lucky for me, a co-worker told me about Auto Plus. They were able to get my Civic in for an oil change the same day. I waited while they did the oil change and was impressed they did a free inspection on my car. They told me the car was in good shape and to keep an eye on a few maintenance items that were coming do. They said they would send me an email reminder about those items. The staff was very friendly and I didn't feel any pressure to do the maintenance items right then and there. I was even offered a free coffee while I waited! I was impressed by Auto Plus' professional and friendly manner. I will go back to get those items repaired when they are due. I would recommend this company. What a great group of employees! I've been getting my car serviced at a dealership since I got it but now I'm over my warranty, I decides to look elsewhere. I found this place on Groupon and made an appointment. Even when setting the appointment, they were friendly and worked with me and my crazy schedule. The day I came in for the appointment, they continued to be friendly (even have a nice mini-fridge full of drinks) and updated me every step of the way! They apparently even offer shuttle services or loaner cars for bigger repairs, which was really nice to learn as I'm sure I'll be coming back! Good prices, nice people, and out in an hour for a full oil change, tire rotation, and inspection. Very happy with my service! read more

I have taken both of our family cars to Auto plus Addison. In the past, I have had problems finding a mechanic I trust. Each time I have taken my car in for an oil change I have been pressured to get services that "need to be done". At Autoplus, I have never had that feeling. In fact, when I originally took my car for an oil change I was told everything was in working order and they did not recommend any services at the time. I have taken my cars in for various services since and they have always done great work and been honest each time on cost and what needed to be done. I am a customer for life! This place is great! My fiance's family has been coming here for years and they let me know that they always do a great job. This was proven to me again last month when my car needed work done but I didn't have a lot of time since I needed it for work. It was right before the holidays so I was concerned about how long it would have to sit in the shop. When I let them know of my urgency they not only got my estimate done right away but they fixed my car the same day! Definitely a great service every time done by great, friendly people. Went in cause I thought my brakes were bad, and also needed a tire rotation. After looking at my brakes they said they were absolutely fine! They could've told me they were terrible and anything else for that matter. I would of course believed them, cause they are the professionals. Walked out only having to pay for a tire rotation, instead of having to pay hundreds right before the holidays. I would/will recommend Auto Plus to everyone and anyone I know! i was being particularly lazy so i didn't feel like doing my own oil change, for a full synthetic job most places charge $70 plus! i just happened to check groupon and they had a very reasonable price listed so i purchased it and took it there, service was fast and friendly and they rotated my tires which i always forget to do. If i have any complain its that i have to go through groupon for the reasonable pricing on an oil change...if pricing was just always that good not only would i take more cars and recommend them to others but i would even consider getting work done there that is out of my skill sets. read more

The staff at Auto Plus is top notch!! My car stalled driving home one evening, so I had I towed to Auto Plus (as I've doing business with them for 22 years now) thinking a part failed due to normal wear and tear, however it turns out that there was a manufacture defect with the 2012 Sonata causing the engine to seize due to not enough oil lubricating the crank shaft, which I was unaware of. I had another amazing experience. Bryan, Mechanic worked on my car this time, was more than amazing. His customer service went above and beyond the scope of just doing basic work. What he provided me was exceptional! Later that day I had tires installed at a different location, and the mechanic who installed my tires was very ecstatic about the brake work that Bryan had done on my car. Wow! I went to have my oil changed and I figured there would be a long wait with sketchy people changing my oil on my precious Ford Fusion. I had never been here before. I could not have been more wrong! Professionalism from the moment I parked. The lady behind the counter took my information- yes a lady! The office was clean. The staff kept me informed.
