Auto Specialist, Boulder City, NV - Not recommended. Price gouging.
    Kirk G.

Horrendously overpriced for the services provided. They take advantage of people breaking down near their small isolated town, assuming guests would not have any alternative but to have the work done there. I checked with other auto shop providers in Las Vegas, and even with paying the additional cost for a tow 22 miles from Boulder City to Las Vegas, it was still considerably less expensive to have our vehicle towed elsewhere for the work to be done. Locals give this place decent reviews, however, you will see other reviews are not so gracious. Taking advantage of guests unfortunate break down situation should not be considered an opportunity for price gouging.

Where should I start…read more.... I was a loyal customer of this Establishment for several years, taking my projects here thinking I was being treated well and given quality work. However between myself and my families many of thousands of dollars I made a great discovery, I can do the work myself, correctly. I brought a stock pickup to this garage running and driving. I required an intake gasket repair and was quoted $600 and 2 days for said work. Two weeks and almost $3000 later, I basically had a brand new top end, new catalytic converter's, new alternator and was back on the road... for several days. I then brought my pickup back due to a check engine light. I was told the timing was off and a test drive and reving the engine to 5k rpm's would reset it. Well the reving and test drive resulted in a blown engine. To the credit of the garage they agreed to give me the labor of installing my new crate 350 for free... after I spent $3500 on the new engine and parts. Now for the more serious issue, yes it keeps going. I had this same garage install rear lowering springs, front and rear sway bars as well as new upper and lower a arms. While this was being completed I decided to pop for the more expensive coilovers up front. I had done much research and was extremely excited to get a superior product. Upon dropping all my boxes off I talked with the owner who advised me that they would need to drill out the lower a arms so that the coilovers could set on top of them now. This is how they are designed to function as stock shocks sit under and are bolted on under using threaded screws. Well I picked up the truck and drove on it for about 500 miles, speeds up to 75mph, corners, downhill curves.... Until one day I noted the front passenger side tire was starting to rub on the inner fender well.... Not thinking much of this and assuming the coils had settled in and required adjustment I crawled under the truck only to discover the hardware had all snapped off from the mounting locations... further it was discovered the grade 8 hardware supplied by the manufacturer had been swapped out with local hardware store nuts and bolts... the biggest discovery was that the hardware and coils were not installed as discussed nor to the manufactures specs. The holes were never drilled and the coilovers were sat in place the same as stock shocks. This discovery was also made at the same time as I realized the only thing holding the front end together and keeping me from a sure car accident was the coilovers themselves. The hardware had snapped apart and the housing of the tubes were resting barley on the corner of the a arms. I immediately contacted the shop owner supplying him with photos and asking what could be done. I was met promptly with a reply of I could bring it up but he didn't know when he would be able to get to it as he had other jobs working. Wow! Thousands of dollars, many referrals and I get bring it by and I'll see what we can do. This is all mind blowing as I could have been seriously injured and the shop could care less. I was forced to take the vehicle off the road and rent a car for several weeks while repairs were My father and I were able to do the repairs ourselves and I paid for yet another Alignment and to have the front sway bar reinstalled... correctly. All in all I would highly advise thinking twice and reading my story again before making any decisions. I know my safety was placed in jeopardy and my bank account took a serious hit as a result of my loyalty to this shop.

Sarah and the man behind the counter assisted with the transaction and helped install the battery. The book actually had the wrong size and after some figuring out we found the right battery (books aren't always right, def not their fault lol) they got the transaction taken care of and helped for about 10-15 mins after hours. Great job!

I showed up on 6/20/26 at 7:59pm and closing time apparently is 8pm. When I googled Auto Zone and put in directions it gave me directions and said they were open till 9pm. I had my own small business for 12 yrs and know sometimes google may pull up old info and store Manager Nelson seemed to know about that when I called the store on 6/22/26. Kevin had horrible customer service ethics should work somewhere else if he is so unhappy. The other employee who I did not get his name was very helpful but after the way I was treated by Kevin I will never Go to boulder city auto zone. I left that store without purchasing a battery. I went to Auto Zone In Henderson on Horizon after that and Angel at Henderson Horizon Auto Zone was very helpful and got me a battery and helped me resolve a running light trailer light issue.and also loaned me tools to change my battery. Kevin told me his name was John when I asked his name
