I bring up that brake issue because it eventually became a pattern of dropping the ball, and repeated issues 1. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.

If you have a manual transmission, I strongly recommend taking your car somewhere else…read more I paid over $2,000 for a clutch replacement, and instead of fixing my car, I ended up with a whole new list of problems. First, the repair took about a week. I understand this was a couple of weeks before Christmas (last year), and shops can be short staffed or dealing with employees being out sick. What I don't understand is why I had to call every single day just to get an update. Communication throughout the entire process was almost nonexistent. The day I picked up my car, I noticed a strong burning oil smell just before I got home. I immediately turned around and drove back to the shop, where they discovered they had forgotten to reinstall a transmission seal. As a result, transmission fluid had leaked all over my exhaust. When I got home, I checked the transmission fluid myself and found it was nearly empty. Running a manual transmission that low on fluid can cause serious and potentially permanent damage. I took the car to another shop to have the fluid topped off, and they also discovered that Eagle Transmission had forgotten to reinstall one of the exhaust bolts that had been removed during the clutch job. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there... I began experiencing hydraulic issues with the clutch and returned to speak with the owner, Scott. I explained my concerns, including the fact that the transmission had never been properly refilled after they corrected the leak. Rather than addressing the workmanship, Scott's response was, "Your transmission is a piece of sh*t. It has spray paint on it, which means it's from a junkyard. You need a transmission rebuild, and that'll cost you another $2,000." If that were true, and my transmission was in such poor condition, you would think they would have mentioned it before installing the new clutch instead of after I returned with problems. To make matters even more concerning, Scott didn't even know where the transmission dipstick was while we were discussing the fluid level. I was so frustrated and insulted, I had to walk out. After receiving advice with another Eagle Transmission location in Cedar Park and doing some research, I returned a few days later and simply asked Scott if they could bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Even after our debate I offered to pay for the service, but he flat out refused. I'm a very patient individual and rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an automotive repair shop. Between the lack of communication, careless workmanship, missing hardware, a transmission left nearly empty of fluid, and the way my concerns were completely dismissed, I cannot recommend this location to anyone... especially if you own a manual transmission vehicle. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid the frustration, wasted time, and unnecessary expense that I went through.

I brought it to another place who quoted me similar but "alluded" to the fact that I would need a new transmission (I was warned transmission places would do this). Neither of these answers made sense to me or were cost effective to the value of the car- so I was at a crossroads of whether to keep the car I love, or say goodbye because of the cost of the repair. Two weeks of my life that I'll never get back. Austin Transmission and Clutch Specialists saved the day- the third mechanic that I went to- and they approached my car in a professional and methodical manner. They found the part at an after market place for a quarter of the price and got it in the car the next day. They saved me a ton of money AND I am totally going to go them for my brakes and other stuff. They approach car care the way I need them to. They made phone calls on my behalf to see if the recall on the car was still valid (I sat in the office with them while they did this) and informed me of what the solution was. They went above and beyond on customer service- these local Austin guys are the real deal. Take your car here. I do.

After their inspection, I approved additional repairs and paid $2,006.64, picking up the car on Nov. 17. Within days, the leak was worse. Instead of one leak, I now had two, along with a strong burning-oil smell while driving. I returned on Nov. 21 and was told it was just leftover oil and that everything had been cleaned. That same evening, I discovered the car was leaking from three different places. I brought the car back again on Dec. 2. After no communication all day, I called and was told they found another leaking gasket and wanted an additional $400. I was also told that "oil leaks are tricky on Volkswagens," but a properly diagnosed repair should not turn one leak into multiple new leaks in a matter of days. At this point, I declined further work. I paid over $2,000 and ended up with a car in worse condition than when I brought it in. I requested a refund in writing and never received a response. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.

The next day they called to tell me there were no brake lines available for my Jeep anywhere with MOPAR, or any other manufacturer. People in my situation are all waiting months for these things on back order. Most shops would have probably told me to come tow this Jeep out of their way until a brake line was available. Not Juke! They thought outside the box and let me know a hydraulic shop they work with could build the part for me, and it would only be $80 more! Perfect! Even though they had to run around town with these brake lines, and rely on another shop to hunt down parts and fabricate custom brake lines for me, they had my Jeep back to me after just 6 business days! The other great thing is Miguel kept me updated the whole time and I never had to worry about if my vehicle was being taken care of. The people at Juke actually care about their customers and I recommend them to everyone I know.

Buddha's Garage is the second one. Dave has the energy of a man who has looked directly into the screaming mechanical abyss of humanity and simply sighed, grabbed a wrench, and fixed it anyway. I swear half the vehicles in that shop arrive after being spiritually wounded somewhere else. Other mechanics will look at your engine like medieval doctors diagnosing ghosts. Dave looks at it once, tilts his head slightly like a jazz musician hearing a wrong note, and suddenly knows your alternator was installed backwards by somebody named Tyler in 2019. And here's the wild part: he's honest. Like deeply, suspiciously honest. The kind of honest that makes you uncomfortable because you forgot businesses could still operate without trying to sell you seventeen imaginary emergencies. Dave will straight up tell you cheaper alternatives, better options, things you can wait on, things you DON'T need. I almost wanted to ask him if he understood capitalism. The customer service feels less like a business and more like your truck wandered into a monastery where everyone took vows of kindness and diagnostic accuracy. Meanwhile other shops are out here playing roulette with socket sets: "Hmmm yes, perhaps your issue is... all of the parts." Then Buddha's Garage fixes it in an afternoon and somehow charges you like they still believe in human dignity. Also -- Dave knows an absolutely terrifying amount about vehicles. Not "guy who watches YouTube tutorials" knowledge. I mean ancient-library-hidden-under-the-desert knowledge. The kind where you start explaining the noise your car makes and he already knows the answer before you finish making the sound effect. At this point I'd trust Buddha's Garage with anything mechanical. My car. My lawn mower. A damaged submarine. If NASA called and said a shuttle was making a weird clicking noise, I'd probably hand them Dave's number. I'm going there no matter what. If I move across the state, I'll crawl back on flaming rims like a pilgrim returning to holy ground.

Yes yes yes, 100% go to this place. I have lived in Austin for 15 years, had my fair share of auto shop experiences, and this is by far the BEST one of them all. First of all Aaron, the GM, has probably the best customer service I have ever received. Constantly keeping me informed with updates, doing his best to save me money where I could, etc. I have never had such good communication and in depth explanation of everything that was wrong with my car and what the options were to fix it. As a woman, the majority of auto shops just take your car in, fix what needs to be fixed, and don't really care to explain much about why that thing really needs fixing other than with jargon you don't understand, and you just have to take them at their word. With Auto Tek, I would get this "report" in the form of text message updates. The report included each thing that was wrong, with pictures of what they found, and then they divided each issue into different sections ranging from needs immediate attention down to not critical and pricing breakdowns for each issue. And then Aaron called me to explain over the phone in even more detail. The best analogy I can give is, you know when you find a really good doctor, and I mean REALLY good... and they actually really care to explain everything in depth about whatever particular subject you are discussing with them and you wish you had found that doctor sooner? Well thats Auto Tek (especially Aaron). Last thing I will say is that they were extremely busy when I tried to schedule them to work on my car. However, they said they could squeeze me in and that they would probably not be able to look at it for a few days. Well the next day, they had already done a full scan of the issues and they completed the repairs a few days before I was even expecting! Thanks again!! read more

I had been looking for a reputable auto technician for maintenance on my Mazda Tribute. I called Auto Tek Inc after reading the testimonials. I spoke with Aaron, and he answered all my questions. I can tell he was knowledgeable, professional, and upfront with costs. I grilled him too, and he responded with confidence and you can hear a smile from his tone of voice. I took my Mazda for an oil change, serpentine belt replacement and brakes. I like that I received an email confirmation for my appointment and quotes for services to be performed. When I arrived at their shop, the staff (Jarad) was very friendly. The work performed by the technicians was excellent and completed in a reasonable amount of time. I was impressed that Aaron called to follow up on my vehicle to make sure I was completely satisfied with their service, indeed I am. Auto Tek Inc has gained a new loyal customer! SO pleased by the service I got at Auto Tek, Inc. Had to have my car towed there late last night. without an appointment, the service manager Aaron called me first thing this morning, discussed the issue, he was super professional and friendly and said he'd diagnose the problem and call back before noon. He called me well before noon with the diagnosis, the solution, and the part on hand and had already emailed me an estimate - which was wayyy less than I expected it to be! He had my car ready to go by 5:30, I cant believe I got same day service without an appointment! I paid exactly what he had quoted me, no hidden fees, no attempt to tack on extra services. I've been going to AutoTek since I was 16, and that was 16 years ago. I was just learning to turn wrenches and Paul and Leonard were always patient with the kid who asked a lot of questions. I had an old beat up 1989 GMC Pickup that they helped me get up and running strong. I've been going there since for things I can't handle at home and have referred anyone I talk to their direction. They're keeping AutoTek in the family and Aaron and his sister are doing a bang up job and Leonard is still around for this now 32 year old kid to talk cars with for old time sake. My wife and I were traveling to Austin Texas from Florida when we noticed that the hood wasn't all the way latched. Apparently after the Toyota dealer had done the oil change they failed to secure the hood properly I tried securing it myself with no luck. So I looked into yelp reviews and the folks at Auto Tek appeared in the top 10 in two different categories so I called yesterday and set up an appt. This morning they repaired the hood it only took them about an hour and the cost was surprisingly affordable. Thanks to Mike and all the staff! read more

Best auto shop ever! Professional, courteous and reasonable. Excellent follow-up and communication. Quality auto care! They keep you updated on how your cars systems and components are functioning so you know what is going to be needed in the future but never make you feel like you are being sold on things that are not needed. Wonderful, honest service. I cannot express the quality and care that goes into every vehicle through their doors. They will also never urge you to get work done that you don't want done right away and their prices are very fair. If they know you can get a part or service done for cheaper somewhere else they will let you know. I've never seen a shop with so much integrity. read more

I heard my brakes squeaking and thought it could be an expensive 600.00 job like the last time I had the brakes repaired. It was easy to make the appointment to have the Jeep towed in and they got back to me by the end of the day with the diagnostic. My brake line had blown out and they were going to replace it. The next day they called to tell me there were no brake lines available for my Jeep anywhere with MOPAR, or any other manufacturer. People in my situation are all waiting months for these things on back order. Most shops would have probably told me to come tow this Jeep out of their way until a brake line was available. Not Juke! They thought outside the box and let me know a hydraulic shop they work with could build the part for me, and it would only be $80 more! Perfect! Even though they had to run around town with these brake lines, and rely on another shop to hunt down parts and fabricate custom brake lines for me, they had my Jeep back to me after just 6 business days! The other great thing is Miguel kept me updated the whole time and I never had to worry about if my vehicle was being taken care of. I despise writing a poor review for a locally-owned business, but after months of being led-on and ignored, I am writing this in hopes of saving someone else's precious time. My husband was in a car wreck in October 2025. The person who rear-ended him has terrible insurance, so we decided to file a claim through our insurance, Allstate. Capital City Collision provided us a quote that our insurance did not agree with. An Allstate negotiator went back and forth with the shop. Part of the issue was my husband's truck had after-market parts that were damaged. Our Allstate negotiator, Elizabeth, called us to confirm that she was able to get funds approved by her manager and they reached an agreement on pricing with the shop. A check for $2,207.66 was sent to the shop to start ordering parts. According to Allstate, the shop cashed the check on January 20th. It is now March 19th and the shop still has yet to reach out. I have tried calling the shop multiple times in the last two months. Each time I call, they answer and hang-up immediately. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they are busy. I tried calling the shop today, and again, same situation: answer, then hang up. I thought to myself, "hmm... maybe they really are ignoring our calls?" So I waited 15 minutes and called back with a blocked number. What do you know... Catherine decided to pick up and answer this time! She kept me on hold for 9 minutes before taking me off hold and hanging up on me immediately. I called back, and a man answered. He transferred me up to Catherine, who kept me on hold for 4 minutes this time and hung up immediately. While I was on hold the second time, I received a text message saying they wouldn't do business with us. They ignored my text, asking when they planned on returning the check they cashed for $2,207.66. My husband and I have been trying to get his truck fixed since October 2025. It is now March 2026. I understand that our insurance was being difficult to work with... we were annoyed by Allstate, too! That being said, Capital City Collision could have rejected our business months ago, instead of stringing us along. Rather than sending this text message 5 months ago when this all started, they chose to dodge our calls and waste our time. Unprofessional does not even begin to describe their behavior. They were avoidant, deceptive, thieving, and rude.
