Went in for my routine oil change and service, and it couldn't have been a smoother experience. They took my car in for service within minutes of me arriving early for my appointment. I was then taken to Ozzy's office where everything was explained clearly, so I wondered over to the waiting area which has 2 large scree TV's, various vending machines available and a full on little cafe serving up burgers, sandwiches and burritos!!! When my car was ready, Ozzy was extremely professional and handed over my car after explaining what was done, and didn't try to upsell me tires or anything else for that matter. I regret to report that my recent encounter with Autonation Toyota of Cerritos has left me not just disappointed, but existentially bewildered. Let us begin with the pricing--good heavens. The MARKUPS, particularly on used vehicles, are so astronomically high that I briefly wondered if I had stumbled into a time warp back to the height of COVID-era shortages. Spoiler alert: I had not. These prices persist in the present day, quite brazenly, like a software bug no one has bothered to fix. Even more troubling is the rather misleading nature of said pricing. One expects a certain level of transparency when engaging in the delicate dance of purchasing a vehicle, but instead, it felt more like trying to debug a system with no documentation--confusing, frustrating, and ultimately futile. And then, the negotiation process. Or rather, the lack thereof. Attempting to negotiate--perfectly standard behavior in such transactions--was apparently treated as some sort of social faux pas. I half expected a trapdoor to open beneath me. In fact, it seems one can be shown the door simply for trying to discuss the price with any degree of persistence. Extraordinary. Frankly, it's a bit of a slap in the face to both loyal Toyota owners and those considering joining the fold. One would hope for a welcoming and reasonable experience, not one that feels adversarial and, quite frankly, absurd. In conclusion: overpriced, misleading, and oddly hostile to negotiation. I shall be taking my business elsewhere--and possibly bringing a stress ball next time. read more

Ali was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain everything about the Toyota RAV4 in detail. He answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed and made the entire experience much more enjoyable. We truly appreciated his professionalism, kindness, and honesty. Unfortunately, another employee (I didn't catch his name) gave us a completely different experience. As soon as we walked in, he came over and showed us a RAV4 priced at around $51,000. We politely asked if there were any dealer discounts available, since many dealerships offer them. Instead of simply answering our question, the way he spoke to us was incredibly rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. We weren't demanding a discount--we were just asking a simple question. A polite "no" would have been completely fine, but the attitude and tone he used toward us were completely unnecessary. What made the experience even worse was that while Ali was taking the time to explain everything to us, this same employee interrupted our conversation just to repeat that there were no discounts, again speaking to us in the same extremely rude and disrespectful manner. It honestly felt like he was talking down to us, and it made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Afterward, we noticed him say something to a few of his coworkers, and they all laughed while looking directly at us. I can't say for certain what was said, but the timing and the way they looked over made us feel uncomfortable and left us feeling disrespected. Thankfully, Ali turned what could have been a negative experience into a positive one. He is exactly the kind of salesperson customers hope to work with. I hope the dealership recognizes his outstanding customer service and also reminds all employees that every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect. read more

Since I was going on vacation and didn't need my car anyway. Glad I did because i was able to put the loose spring back and my hood locks again with the help of my friends. They called said the parts were on back order but they could do a diagnostic and fix the other recall. Or I just wait until parts are in. I decided to bring my car in get the diagnostic for the OCS sensor to see if it was malfunctioning. They had my car for 2 hours maybe longer. I pick my car back up get home and look and the diagnostic the performed was just on the basics of the car. I don't see anything on the report about the OCS sensor being checked which was the whole point of my trip. Now I have to bring my car back up there for it to be done. Worst car buying experience ever! The "car salesman" did a great job of how to not sell a car. First, my daughter and I had to ask for help from the two "salesmen" just standing there talking. They did not want to help us. We asked if they had any Camary Hybrids. The salesman acted as if I as if there were any spaceships on the lot. Once he begrudgenly showed us a car, he told us the price, and we may need look at a lower priced car. He decided this with questions, no credit check, and pure disdain. Still haven't received a response after a month. Call multiple times and always got voice mail. Called three other dealers and they all answered their phone. I'm adding to the review because people deserve to know probably the most important part of a car purchase: the post-sales support and service. Jairo understands the customer's concerns and follows up in the best way. Additionally, AutoNation Toyota has a Service Manager "Head Coach" on the sidelines who is totally cool and does everything to ensure a superb outcome. The Service Drive Manager, Adrianna Maldonado, and I had a lengthier conversation than I expected. It was darn impressive listening to Adrianna's experience and dedicated career with the AutoNation group. My car? Everything was handled! Everything! I am obsessed with every sound and motion in my Camry Hybrid. I'm sure I annoyed everyone with my small demands. But Adrianna, Jairo, and the crew kept smiling and made it all happen. The car is awesome and has been since my purchase. It is so critical to have faith in the back end of an operation. I made an appointment for today and shared all my concerns with the staff. However, they dismissed my issues and only changed my oil, claiming that addressing everything else would take too long since my appointment was scheduled for 2 PM and they close at 5 PM. I also mentioned a warning light that has been on my dashboard for some time, but they said they couldn't check it because it wasn't included in the multi-point inspection for my vehicle. I just want to know what's wrong with my car; it's a brand new vehicle. I kept asking about my brakes and fluids, noting that even the brake fluid was low. However, I felt like I was bothering the staff with my questions. I believe I should be able to ask questions about my car, right? They told me to come back the next day, hoping they might have more time to address my concerns. I find this place very unprofessional, and after my warranty expires, I will never return. I arrived early for my 10:20 a.m. appointment (at 10:00 a.m.) for a simple oil change on my Hyundai -- which, yes, may seem out of place at a Toyota dealership, but my vehicle came with a prepaid service package through Toyota when I purchased it. I checked in promptly and was given a service number, expecting to be helped shortly. Instead, I waited. And waited. For over 50 minutes, I watched as every other car and customer -- all assisted by male service advisors -- were helped and processed efficiently, while I was consistently passed over. Each time I tried to inquire, I was met with dismissive "just wait" responses, without anyone taking the time to actually assist me or even check my appointment details. It was frustrating, unprofessional, and disappointing to feel completely ignored despite being on time and patient. Then came Michelle Hernandez, the After-Sales Advisor, who was the only person to step up and help. She was kind, proactive, and genuinely apologetic about the situation. Michelle immediately took ownership, got my car processed, and treated me with the respect and professionalism that should be standard in any service department. She turned an otherwise negative experience into something tolerable through her empathy and competence alone. To management: Please take note of the lack of attentiveness from your male service advisors. Customers should never have to wait nearly an hour for acknowledgment, especially with a scheduled appointment. Michelle's customer service was exceptional -- she deserves recognition for going above and beyond when others would not. If you visit this location, ask for Michelle. Waste of Time! Get your bots together you guys! I came across a car online I wanted to see and texted for the information to a number they had listed. Got a response right away saying the car was indeed available at this location and when would I like to come in and see it. I should have known that it was automated as there was no name in the text, but, I didn't. It went on to let me make an appointment yesterday at 10am. I drove 45 minutes there and was assigned to a random sales rep who discovered the car was there however "on the rack" to get inspected before it could be shown. I could put a $500 fully refundable deposit on the car sight unseen in order to hold it for me and noone else could buy it until I looked at it. I was then told the tech was not in until 1pm, would I like to wait around or come back. I said no, and expressed my dissatisfaction and the rep said he would keep in touch with me and took my cell number supposedly. He apologized for the mishap and said he would look into it, took pics of my cell phone texts with the bot and noted the number the messages came from and I left, not happy. Later I decided to message the bot again, saying I wanted a refund for the gas money and my time and it said it would have a manager get back to me on this. I texted again this morning and it said it gave my information to the team and I should be hearing back from a manager, which I have not. This is so lame and should be unlawful - not that that would do a thing in their practices. I thought Auto Nation was a decent reputable business, not out to waste peoples time and efforts. Here we go: Had my car serviced here a few times. Got some package with 10 oil changes when I purchased my vee-hee-kel. So, most of my experience is based on oil changes and one 120k mile front-to-back service. They get the job done, but even with an appointment, it takes literally hours of wait time. I was off work today and saw that they had "express" service appointments available. I scheduled mine for 1:20, but I got there early (12:50ish). Took 2 hours for an oil change. 2 effen hours. Tbf, the rep did tell me that it'd be 1.5-2 hrs but I thought maybe he was erring on the side of caution and it wouldn't take that long. But no. With an appointment, I had to wait 2 hours for an oil change. Keep in mind, I asked the check-in rep if they were busy and he said it was actually slow. So I imagine that when they are busy, it could be more than 2 hours of wait time for an oil change. Then I get this photo, but with no context. Idk if the filter needs to be changed or if they're just letting me know they inspected it or what. Just a photo of a filter with no notes. It looks dirty, so I'm assuming that it should be replaced. But I shouldn't have to assume. I'm not a mechanic and I rely on them to give me info. Anyway, if you don't mind waiting a long time, this place exists. read more

Toyota AutoNation Cerritos is really just a hit or miss. There are times when you will have great customer service when scheduling your oil change, for example, or when you are made a complete fool, berated, or ignored by the sales representatives or managers. I want to point out a particular experience with Eric McKenzie, their customer financial service manager at the time of this writing. Personal Situation: I financed a vehicle and bought 3 warranties with the vehicle. Over the months, I decided to cancel the warranties because I realized I wasn't using the vehicle as often as I thought, and I didn't see a reason to pay extra for unnecessary purchases. I went in person and did the paperwork to cancel the warranties. The paperwork was complete on April 2023. Fast forward, it is now November 2023, and I have yet to receive a refund credited to my online pay statements, as stated on the warranty contracts. Despite multiple attempts to follow up via phone and email with Toyota Finance and in-person visits to the Cerritos Dealership, I was always brushed aside with the same excuse of "We're working on it, I'll get back to you, or that's all we can do on our end." (These warranties total up to a couple thousand dollars, so it is definitely worth refunding.) Obviously, I was upset since I am waiting after several months for a few thousand dollars to be credited back to my financial statement. It is unjustified if we, the customers, are one month late for our car payment to get charged a late fee, but Toyota is allowed several months to use the same excuse to NOT issue you a refund. When I came in person again to explain my situation to Eric McKenzie, he condescendingly berated me for not being willing to listen and that I am acting like a child for not understanding the process. I agree. I don't understand the process but was very open to listening because I am not an expert in car marketing and do not work there professionally. Therefore, I don't understand the terminology that goes on the backend. Despite efforts to engage in a professional dialogue, my inquiries were met with visible annoyance and a lack of willingness to elaborate. At no point was there an attempt to provide a clear understanding of the process, which should be expected from a dealership in compliance with their contractual obligations. In the end, I was left with another same excuse of "We're working on it and I'll get back to you next week." Tips for Improvement: 1) EDUCATE ALL EMPLOYEES about the process and procedures behind every contract and transaction. The answer "I don't know" was often used when I asked a question, and that is fine to not know the answer at the moment. However, after discovering an issue, there was no follow up action or effort to find a solution. Or it just led to them brushing me aside and kicking the can down the road to a later date. 2) BE TRANSPARENT. Car dealerships are notorious for scams. If employees told the truth, the stereotypical label wouldn't be there. Have the customer representative show the client what they are signing up for without having it sound like a sales pitch. 3) PRACTICE PATIENT. At no time should the customer be forced to rush to sign a document without properly reading it just because the dealership has "other customers waiting". The current customer will always have another customer in line behind him. Instead of rushing a customer to "sign here", they are setting up the customer for financial ruin if the customer does not have time to process or understand what he is signing up for. 4) EXPLAIN THOROUGHLY. Similar to the other points, if a customer representative cannot properly explain the details of a contract to their customer, it displays lack of understanding and improper training. Worse is if the customer is rushed to sign the contract due to "having other customers waiting." Not all customers understand the terminology used in car marketing, so it is expected that the dealership communicate in a friendly manner so that all customers can understand. read more

This is a very lengthy review of the Service Department. I came in on Sat 2/10/24 for a normal service and oil change.  I asked the Service Representative Rodrigo Bumacod to have his team look at a tire and possibly patch it up.  It had a peice of metal in it causing it to lose air pressure.  He informed me that the tire will need to be replaced.  He informed me that they do not have the tire in stock.  I thought it would make sense for a dealership to have a brand new car's tire in stock. He was not even able to order it for same day/rush delivery?  The routine oil change took about 4 hours which is way too long.  He informed me he would order it and to come back next week.  I chose to come back Tuesday 2/13/24.  I attempted to get a hold of him three times before I made my way the the dealership but had no luck.  The first time I called the representative said they would try to get a hold of him and have him call me back.  An hour later, no word.  The second call they transferred me to his voice-mail.  I left a voice-mail for him to call me back.  After an hour, no call back.  The third attempt they told me again that they would try to find him and have him call me back.  No one called back.  I would imagine they would just need to go to his desk to find him but he was very difficult to get a hold of.  After three attempts, I headed to the dealership.  I show up and reminded him of what I was there for.  He looked uncertain even though he seemed to remember me and that he supposedly ordered a tire for me for replacement like he said he would on Saturday.  We get to my car and he looks confused and says "what are we doing again?" I reminded him again and he either knew what I was talking about or was just playing it off.  I told him I would wait for the tire to get replaced because it should not take more than an hour for a quick tire replacement.  He informed me that he didn't think his guys would be able to complete it by the end of the day even though there were still a few hours until he and his staff was off.  He told me to come back another time.    I chose to come back Wednesday 2/21/24.  I show up today, 2/21/24 and speak to another service representative since he is not in today and she informed me that the tire is not in.  She will need to get approval and will let me know as soon as she hears word.  I thought to myself, did Rodrigo even order the tire?  Did he even order the tire the first time?  He seems to be very disorganized and doesn't seem to know what is going on.  Maybe it is just my experience but I hope no one else has to go through this.  This was my third attempt to replace the tire.  I will be going to a different dealership from now on.  The only good thing about today's visit was being assisted by service advisor Kasandra.  Her customer service and willingness to help were above and beyond.  Even though this issue was new to her and it wasn't originally hers, she was very patient and understanding about the situation and knew right away what needed to be done.   She was able to give me updates throughout the wait which I really appreciated which Rodrigo was not able to.  I feel that if he was there, I would get the same run around from him like I did the first two visits.  She really help ease my frustrations and I really appreciate service advisors like her.  Some questions/comments for the dealership: 1.  Why does it take so long for an oil change/inspection? 2. When I was dealing with Rodrigo there was no documentation that the tire was ordered, he just told me to come in and see him.  At other dealerships they use reminders via text or email to keep customers up to date.  Is this procedure not used here?  Something like this would be helpful: "Your tire has been ordered and should arrive on 2/11/24" "Your tire has arrived and is ready to be installed.  Please schedule an appointment with one of your service representatives or see me or another representative upon arrival" 3.  Why would it take more than one hour to replace a tire?  4. Please get rid of the texting system for updates.  I used it to ask for updates but never got a response from Rodrigo. read more

Unfortunately, he just seemed way more infatuated with my husband as he was always commenting on how big he was (in terms of his muscles) and always directed any of his comments toward him versus me (his female wife and the only one buying the car!) Now I know a lot of people might not bat an eye at this, but I want J.C. to know that females can do just as much if not more than what men can do, especially when it comes to buying a car by themselves with no co-signer!! I've always taken my car to the dealership for oil changes and any other services that were needed. I typically purchase the Toyota Care 3 pack to save money as it comes out to about $110/oil change (more than other places, I know). Today was my first time taking my car to AutoNation. Staff was friendly and professional, however the price gouging was unacceptable. When I was quoted $1400 for an oil change I nearly fainted. I asked about the Toyota Care and after deliberating with another employee, I was offered a price sheet that would have cost more than Toyota Care and wouldn't include everything (about $390 for 3 changes, fluids not included). The service center always tries to upsell (duh) but I have been lied to. When they had the buy 3 tires, get 1 free deal, a salesperson kept telling me that my tire thread is at a 2 (out of 10) which suggests the tire thread is very low and I know I have not changed my tires yet. I declined because I don't drive much (30k miles in 5 years) and was heading into the summer season. Low and behold, 9 months later when I came back for an oil change, one of the many things they recommended was a tire rotation and they also told me that my thread level is at a 3/10. So somehow magically, my tires gained thread and I know they measure the same tire - driver side front. I ended up going to costco. And more recently, again coming in for an oil change after 9 months and a factory recall (software upgrade) at 8am and should be done before noon. A little bit later, I get a call from the salesperson saying that the technician told him my timing belt oil seal is broken and the cost would be $2,400 to fix. Yeah right! I instantly asked them to take pictures of the "broken seal" and send it to me (attached). It was NOT broken, they tried defending themselves by saying the oil stains and general dirt around the engine cover. Even the salesperson (whose name I will not say) said that this was not an issue. BTW the salesperson was actually very nice and honest. He did not upsell me anything and he was the one who took and sent me the pictures. A few bad apples makes them all look very bad and I honestly fee that the technicians exaggerate things. Also my car is still under warranty and I had told them that, means they would've had to fix it anyways. So my "broken seal" was actually not broken so they didn't schedule an appointment to take my car back. It is now way past noon and they have not called me back and I am posting the review now and will post an update later. I will never come back. Lost a customer of two short years and informing others of this shitty service. read more

I purchased a vehicle for my daughter here last year, and upon purchase I was told that her first two oil changes would be covered. Well, guess what? It was a flat out lie. My daughter has brought the car twice and BOTH times she had to come out of pocket. I reached out to the service manager, Adriana Maldonado De Bernal, and also another manager , Dennis Simecek, and this issue has yet to be rectified. True sales tactic at its finest.... I have emailed and no response when I asked for status. I highly suggest you stay away from this company as all they want to do is rip you off and take your money where they can. Way too expensive over here folks, if you are getting your car serviced here you are getting ripped off. $87.49 for a cabin air filter replacement??? $39.99 for a tire rotation?? Most shops throw that in for free because it is literally no sweat off a mechanics back with the equipment they have. $50 for an engine air filter replacement?? Come on! This is ridiculous. I'm glad my wife only paid for the oil change and got out of there. That was ridiculous. Boooo this place read more
