No one could ask for a better experience than what I had today! I'm not used to having such good luck. I purposely bought a higher powered battery for my 2000 Toyota 4Runner than I used to get from AAA (Interstate) because if I didn't drive it for four or five days it was dead. I jumped it many times and then finally got my own Topdon jumper power box for home use but wasn't needing it with this new battery. But as time went on I started having to jump my car a couple of times from not driving as much as before. I needed to yesterday and ran several errands which should've charged it up and then stopped for gas and as soon as I got home and went to take all of my Costco food etc. and everything out of my car I couldn't even unlock the doors or trunk! I had to use the manual key and finally get to all of my groceries. I parked my car at a weird angle to unload so I couldn't get my other car out of the garage either. This morning when I got up I thought I will jump it again and take it to AutoZone where I had bought the last one at the San Mateo store close to three years ago if not three. I'm new to the area and as it turns out it was right by Costco yesterday but I did not think I would be needing to go there. I was really nervous because it took several tries and quite some time to actually get it charged enough to start it today so I knew I had to do something immediately! Normally it starts in a nanosecond but not today! Anyhow I went into the Santa Rosa Ave store and everyone could not be nicer and they were able to look up my last battery purchase and it was still within their 3 year warranty!! Without any issue they swapped it out for another new battery! I prepared myself to have to spend another $240 but I didn't! And not that it matters but I was very impressed that it was two very young girls/woman that work doing all of the work for my replacement. When they went to check my battery when I first arrived it was already dead again and assured me I would not be stranded. Iris came out and disconnected my old battery which gave her trouble because it was screwed in too tightly and then put in the new battery. She said I could go in and check if I wanted to get a cleaner for my battery cables because I had asked about that and I purchased one and she opened it and thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned all of my battery cables that have never been cleaned in the 25 years that I've had that SUV! The whole time she was pleasant and patient and completely thorough. I know when I went to San Mateo you were lucky if you would get somebody to put it in for you. Millbrae told me no and Redwood City told me no and it wasn't even a question with them! It was 1000% one of the best experiences I've had in any establishment that went WAY above and beyond and was professional and thorough and kind and understanding and did exactly what needed to be done to get me back home safely. All done with a smile! I'm so glad I went there instead of Costco who told me after trying to call them about 18 times before answering that they would sell me a battery but not install it. I used to have to get them every 2 1/2 years from AAA who's Interstate batteries as I mentioned would only keep it charged for maybe five days. Something with the Toyota's where whatever systems they have drain the battery a little more constantly than other cars. According to AAA... Anyhow, go to AutoZone on Santa Rosa Ave.! You will get professional friendly service by a group of people that obviously all like each other and work together and help each other out. I couldn't be more impressed! read more

They answered and told me they have the part so I drive all the way there and then they try to give me the wrong part and then continue to tell me they are out of the part I actually need. Stopped into AutoZone for a maintenance battery charger that I can leave connected to my truck that I never drive. Two young ladies working behind the counter. I said hi to the first one and she ignored me and walked away. Ask the second one and she told me that I needed to bring in my battery so they could charge it there at the store. I explained no that I needed something to leave my truck connected to while it's parked in my garage. She again said that I would have to remove my battery and bring it into their store so they could charge it. It seem we weren't understanding each other, and she told me to go look in aisle six. Found what I was looking for immediately, but the shelf indicated to very different prices. When I brought it to the counter, it had a completely different price. The entire time, both employees look very unhappy and annoyed that I was there.not pleasant, not helpful. read more

Very unhappy I went to buy a mirror for my car they asked for my name and phone number so that they could start an account to track my purchases. I gave them all the correct information about the car that I owned I ordered the mirror, I had my son pick it up as it was on his way home from school and it's for his car. When I opened the box it was the wrong mirror. No worries I will return it, well I gave my son the receipt to save and as most 17 year old boys will do it went missing. SOOO now I cannot return the mirror for my money back because they can see when I bought the mirror and how much I paid for it and when it arrived for pick up but since I don't have a receipt I can only have a store credit.............. This seems unacceptable to me but what do I know........ Hang on to that receipt. Too bad I have to select a star at all. read more

So we were driving down Santa Rosa Ave., missing all the auto parts stores since they all seem to be on the East side of the Ave (not really, but it all seemed like it at the time) and I saw the opportunity to safely cut over and into the turn lane for this particular AutoZone. Parking lot was clean and as soon as we walked in, both employees welcomed us to the store. Impressive from the start. Marco came up to us and asked if he could help in any way. We asked about steering wheel covers for one of our vehicles and some plastic restorer. He pointed us in the right direction and off we went. After looking at several products, Marco again came up to us and asked if we needed any help (probably saw the look in our eyes - and gaping mouths trying to figure out which product is best). Marco again helped us out and when it came to figuring out the size of our steering wheel cover, he was able to find out for us as we had left our cell phones in the car charging. From the start we were impressed with the cleanliness, stock and the helpful staff, with special kudos to Marco for going out of his way to find us in the store and help us out. I've been going to this store for at least 3 years since I moved to Santa Rosa I never had a bad experience until this last time when I wanted to return a product a got and the guy was supper rude telling me that I was installing the part wrong when clearly it was the part that did not fit , when I asked for my money back he gave a receipt with store credit and I told him I wanted cash back he said no you have to spend it here and I said no give me my money back and when he did he threw it at me and turned around and left, that's horrible customer service. i ordered part# DLO6078 Brass Battery terminal. Part was cracked at the bolt hole that tightens it onto battery post. Looks like it was casted that way as a defect. One turn of the bolt to tighten it and a piece broke completely off. So now i am out the $6 and $5.58 shipping fee. DONT BUY PART #DLO6078 read more

Giving a loud shout out to some amazing people over at Autozone at Hearn and Santa Rosa Avenue. Due to Covid concerns, I wound up having to bring my new car that I just bought from CarMax over to Autozone to get a battery as the new-to-me car had a faulty one that died as soon as the car was turned off. Carmax was certain that Autozone was open until 9. However, once I got there (also due to Covid) the team had closed a bit early to do some deeper cleaning. I didn't know what to do. My battery was completely dead and I needed help. The wonderful team of JennyLynn, Jose, JP, and Jose let me come in and buy a battery and use their phone (as mine of course was dead). They finished cleaning and were very willing to put in the new battery for me except that the weird car I bought had the battery under the seat which would have had to be removed to change the battery. They smartly said they couldn't do that for liability reasons, but were happy to jump my battery. Even though the battery was too dead to be jumped, Jenny let me use her cell phone to call emergency roadside assistance and also call my spouse to get a friend with a car to come drive me home. I'm telling you. It was a cluster! The one thing that made it so much easier was that JennyLynn, Jose, JP, and Jose stayed with me even though I said they should go home. They had all worked a full day and were chatting with me in the parking lot waiting for my tow. JennyLynn lived an hour and a half away and I begged her to go home. She finally did but insisted that the guys stayed with me until I got picked up by the tow truck. I mean wow. that's amazing support to give a total stranger. Not only that but after she left, when the towtruck driver finally called her number with an ETA, she called my spouse to let him know and then called again later to make sure I made it home ok. Wow. These young men who stayed with me were so sweet and fun. We joked and talked - not once did they seem like I was putting them out. Solid good people, all of them. They did not leave until my friend arrived and shortly after that the tow truck arrived. The moral of the story is ... Autozone hired a great team and they are way beyond service-oriented. They were kind humans providing safety and support to a person who they did not know. They delayed the start of their evening by at least an hour and a half - maybe even two hours just sticking around to make sure I was not stranded. How many store employees have you had this kind of experience with? Sure, I've had kind treatment when I've been in trouble, but this was just incredible. Autozone on Santa Rosa and Hearn needs to know that these four people restored my faith in humanity and made me an Autozone fan. I loved meeting them and I will never forget them. Autozone should feel confident that these employees are a huge credit to their store. They were professional in the store, and warm with great humor that made our time together a fun little gathering as they stayed to help a late night/after hours customer out. A place that hires such compassionate helpful people deserves our business! read more

Consistently underwhelmed by the service I've received at the Autozone on Santa Rosa Ave. Ordered some parts on line and went in to pick up. See a guy waiting to check out at the counter so I file in behind. Notice the Store Manager talking to his friend on the phone. It wasn't until a third person got in line that he summoned a guy who was stocking shelves to help out. He had that "too cool" attitude and couldn't end his phone call to help out. Parts had been pulled, but he didn't bother to tell the guy who was helping me out. Transaction could have been much smoother if the manager spent his time helping the customer instead fo chatting with his friends about their flight. read more

Great place for advice and customer service, except tonight 8/2/16. I was in the process finishing spark plugs on my Moms truck when one of the wires broke. I looked at the clock had 9 min to spare till 9pm closing time and was 5 min from the store. I raced down to the shop with 3 min to spare. 8:57pm doors locked and the guys inside looking at me like, I was crazy for wanting buy a few parts.
