One of the best mochas I've ever had. You can choose from dark, milk and white chocolate here...silky smooth and so good! Desserts and baked goods were solid as well. We split an airy sponge cake soaked in rose water with a hint of pistachio... It was so good but slightly dry... gotta be careful not to inhale some of the small crumbs down your windpipe while talking. Lol. I ordered delivery of 3 items. The driver only delivered one item, a cup of coffee. He said they were out of the other items and that the restaurant had contacted me. There was no such contact. I complained but Grubhub only deducted the missing items. This i with this restaurant. The employees are flaky and definitely not customer oriented. Agree with the other reviewer that the food is very average and the fruit tart did not taste fresh or great. The ladies serving were very matter of fact. When I asked if the table where my family of six had to be cleared, I was told yes, I was fine clearing our own table but there was zero assistance from the staff who I'm sure noticed I was clearing about ten cups and ten plates. The ambiance is really open and you have the sense of that welcoming feeling. The decor is really upscale. They're open 24 hours and they have free wifi. Lots of parking. Gathered here with friends today for coffee about 10ish. There is a super shortage of tables here for large groups especially. Parking in this area is also tight. I ordered soup and 1/2 sandwich. It did take a longer time to serve than expected and was okay. Nothing unique or special here to note. The soup was a red pepper Gouda which was really thick. A little too thick but tasted good. I am a regular at this Ava's location. Every time I walk in I am greeted with a warm welcome and smile. I usually get a dark chocolate mocha or a house brewed coffee. The baristas always make sure to give our fresh brewed coffee and exactly made to the order. Everyone is polite with the impression of serving my needs. It's a beautiful location with large windows and natural lighting. It does get loud inside when there's a lot of people which can ruin the peaceful environment that the store itself holds, but on a good day sitting outside on the patio gives the Ava's experience a whole new meaning. The bathrooms are maintained in check and very clean for the most part. The lobby and the bar are also maintained organized and pleasant to be around. Definitely a great place for a date or a study session. The music is always at the right volume and the baristas have very good taste in the music in my personal opinion that makes me feel that I can relax and enjoy my coffee. Did the late night Saturday munchies thing, got myself some pastries! Did the Uber Eats. The first pastry was the Peach Turnover, which I must say was absolutely delightful. Sweet and satisfying but not overbearing or over sweetened. Next I moved on the the Zu Zu Puff Pastry, which is like the potato chip of pastries. It is carb-filled, faintly sweet, got a good crisp..snack-a-licious. I still have a Poppyseed Muffin and a Macaroon, but I simply could not consume all of this right now. This by far is my favorite Ava to come to. The patio section is very peaceful and chill to hangout and enjoy your coffee. On the website it says it closes at 11pm but they closed at 10pm. I didn't know they closed at 10 and now that I think about it maybe that's why the young lady making my drink didn't look too happy. If I would have known they closed at 10 I wouldn't have ordered my drink. I dislike coming into places when they are about to close. I would not recommend this coffee shop to anyone. My experience in short: Rude barista, cold coffee, no character! More details: I ordered extra hot latte but what I got was barely a room temperature latte. When I told the barista, he started to argue with me in stead of "sorry, I will get you another one" My friend ordered extra hot dark chocolate mocha. Of course hers was cold too. The second time he made her white chocolate mocha. I don't think the barista was enjoying his job. Drinking the coffee, it felt like having a cup of water with hint of coffee and milk. read more

I've always enjoyed stopping into Ava for a morning coffee on the way to work until this morning. I ordered and paid for a coffee and immediately after the barista started taking an order from a very large group (one mother and at least 5 children). The children were asking multiple questions each (no problem with this as I have children of my own) and I soon realized I would be waiting a very long time for my coffee. The barista didn't even attempt to tell the group she would complete their order after getting my coffee ready. After several minutes I walked up to the counter and advised that I really needed to go and couldn't wait for my coffee. The only response from the barista was "sorry about that". There was no attempt to try and get my coffee ready or give a refund / coupon for the coffee (and tip!) that I had already paid for. This is totally unacceptable attitude and service! I will not be back. Not happy read more

While I believe the service deserves a 2, the atmosphere deserves a 5...so I will compromise at a 4. Whenever I go, the barista seems swamped and slightly grouchy. The coffee is average, but what I really love about this place is the atmosphere. It is open LATE, which means it is perfect for studying/working. There are a lot of outlets and lots of chairs and tables. Sometimes I study here all day long. Lake Oswego location is poorly managed. Every time I have gone in, all the tables are taken by student squatters studying for hours - who haven't and who don't buy anything. In fact they usually bring in their own food and drink or from nearby places like JimmyJohns. I have to eat and drink standing by the garbage can. When I pointed this out to the barista she said she knew and I could tell one of the students to give me a table if they were taking up space. Nice - have your paying patrons do the dirty work. A cute little place for a girls lunch. The pros: The coffee itself is pretty good. The sandwiches were AWESOME! We had the turkey cranberry and the smoked ham and provolone. Both really delicious. The baked goods were decent, however... The tables aren't very "cozy" you feel a bit in the open. The cake comes from somewhere, tastes like grocery store cake. Not bad, but certainly not special. And my biggest complaint, a caramel latte should not be made with a syrup pumped out of a bottle. Caramel sauce is so easy to make and changes your life. I absolutely hate when coffee shops do this.
