    AVACHI SPECIAL CHICKEN DUM BIRYANI
    Shruti Y.

I've been here a few times, usually just to get their special chicken biryani. I've enjoyed it each time. The space looks clean, service can be slow sometimes, usually since they have several take out orders going out all at once. I like the biryani, and will definitely be back again!

We ordered from here on doordash so giving average rating for service and atmosphere. We also ordered from here on Dec 31sr so not sure if our experience was one off. Against my better judgement, I decided to go with a new restaurant for the last meal of the year. Ofcourse the restaurant is well rated so how bad can my experience be. My oh my! Was I in for a surprise... We ordered the Avachi special chicken biryani-family pack. It came with an appetizer. The appetizer, chicken 65 was really good (4/5). The biryani was awful. The spices were not cooked fully, so the raw spices and the garam masala was way too strong. The cloves and cinnamon was out of proportion. We could hardly have a few spoons. Had to settle for time and rested dal rice and yogurt rice! I hope it was one off and a result of Dec 31st.

I can't attest to the other dining options but the lunch buffet here is superb. There's a deep selection of vegetarian dishes, many you don't even get to see at most Indian buffets, like pickled cauliflower/gobi. For their drinks, they even offer mango lassi! The tables were kept clean, the food was stocked, and the water was room temperature. Dosa comes as part of the buffet and it's freshly cooked. It's good dosa. The naan comes hot to your table too. It's not good naan. It's not particularly bad, it's just a bit more chewy and thick then I would want my naan. Paneer was meh, chicken was good. The real star for me was the baby corn. It's so addictively good with its crispiness, it's breathe of heat, and it's sweetness. Definitely my favorite Indian buffet in the bay so far.

Take out review only - Friends visiting the Bay Area brought us the egg biryani & chicken biryani. They have a choice of spice levels - be warned that the Medium spice level is spicy. The biryani was packed well with a salan & raita to accompany it. Both biryani dishes were excellent, and the salan and raita complemented the flavors well. Will look forward to visiting this spot to sample their other dishes!

    LUNCH THALI-VEG

The best thali I have ever eaten in the BayArea. Every single item on the thali tasted amazing. Authentic Andhra taste in every single item. Cut mirchi for appetizer and Ghajar halwa for dessert. Pulao and chapati delicious! Broad beans curry and Eggplant Fry made sooo well! Special callout for the homemade yogurt, how can the yogurt taste so good! The meal reminded me of the festive homemade meals we used to have back home when relatives who are an expert in making a single item each, get together and put out an amazing thali!! I would give them more than 5 stars if i could!

The place stands out when you look for it due to the old school architecture. Inside is a bit small but if you get there early you can beat the crowds. You can't miss the colorful decor, and Hindi music plays on the television to complete the ambiance. The buffet is quite good, and many items are bold and spicy. Ther variety is very good as well. The paneer korma has quite a tasty sauce and the flavor is well balanced. The fried fish has an impressive coating of green spice on the outside, with the inside revealed to be white fish. Chai and mango lassi is included in the buffet, and are very good. There were two soups served as well. There was a mango pudding which had gulag jamun in it. Warm dosas and naan are brought to the table. There is something for everyone here.

Was grocery shopping and felt like stopping by at this biryani place. They had some council member event at the time so restaurant ordering was closed. I didn't realize this went in anyways and they were quite welcoming despite the fact it was closed for a private event. The staff was friendly and said I could only order Biryani at that time...worked out perfectly as that's all I wanted. Took a veg sun biryani to go - it comes with a small quantity of gravy and raita on the side. The Biryani was good - well balanced flavors. Texture of the rice was perfect...not too sticky, not too dry...felt fresh. Not the best I have eaten but was still pretty good. The best I have eaten is the one my mom makes The raita was quite watery. Quantity was just about right. I paid a total of ~$14 which included a small tip. I won't go out of my way to come here, but will definitely try again if I am already in the neighborhood.

The manager is always welcoming and accommodating, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. My only small suggestion is to bring back the diced mango pickles. I personally preferred them when they were cut into smaller pieces instead of the larger chunks. Overall, Galpão never disappoints. Amazing food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. The servers for the table came quickly taking our drink orders and we were off to the salad bar. The salad bar has lots of options from salads, vegetables, soups, and appetizers. I have been here multiple times and there were times in which the replenishment of a salad bar item took way too long I gave up and closed my check and left. This was after I even asked a few times. My favorite is the mango salad and the candied bacon. The mango is spot on. The candied bacon is good but could be better if it was all crispy. There is the card green red signalling to the servers with the food whether to stop at the table or not. When our card was green all the servers walked by frequently and quickly. When there was a time in which our card was red for awhile, a server would stop over and asked us if there was any menu item we would like to request specifically. When we mentioned the person would speak into their mic and soon a server would come with our request. The other Brazilian Steakhouse at Santana Row could learn about service from Galpao. The chicken options were dry. Most the beef items were cooked well. The lamb was cooked medium well which was over in my opinion. The pork rib is good, just beware fatty. The grilled pineapple was good too. Tried the garlic bread which is more a garlic cheese bread. It was tasty. The basic items for the table are the plantains, mashed potatoes, cheese popovers. The mashed potatoes were well made very smooth with lots of flavor. The popovers are a little thick so can be a little tough to chew. This place is not for everyday and not at the high price point. Definitely return for a special occasion.

It's just too far when you're hungry and slightly hangry... I did a quick Yelp search and was surprised (and excited!) to find LHL Malatang just under 10 minutes from home! The place wasn't busy at all when we got there, which meant no crowding at the buffet style section. I loved how smooth it was to grab all my favorite toppings without having to wait in line. Only minor letdown? There were only a few slices of beef left, so I opted for lamb instead but it still hit the spot. My bowl ended up being about $26, which honestly felt like a steal considering it was nearly 2 lbs of food. Definitely way more affordable than some other spots I've been to. I went with the mild beef bone broth but my Bestie got the sour spicy beef bone broth and wow, game changer. I kept sneaking sips from his bowl! Next time, that's definitely what I'm getting. Super flavorful and it lingered in the best way. All in all, I'm a fan. With how close it is to home, I can already tell this is going to be my new go to malatang fix. I got the spicy bone broth in hot and I thought it had enough of a kick, but I could've gone spicier! My friend and I also felt that their broth didn't have enough of the richness/depth that we enjoy. I'll give them another visit in a few weeks to see if they work out the few kinks. I don't remember much about the place so I got no positive or negative experiences I can compare to this visit. I have been to many similar buffets all over Northern California so my expectations are not too high here. My first attack was the sushi bar. Very good sushi selection for lunch. Comparable Tomi and World Gourmet Buffet in Fremont. No complaints. Made my way to the hot foods. Some familiar and some different items. First time seeing curry beef. The stir fry rice noodle they had was bland so I put the curry over it. It was good, I got a second helping. They had a pork ribs soup with either wintermelon or radish, couldn't tell what it was but it gave the soup some sweetness to it. If you're Asian you might have had it at home. It is light and soothing. Different than the usual hot and sour soup which they had but I skipped. Those were the two items I wanted to talk about in my review as no other Asian buffet had these. There are other typical items, aren't much different from other places so I'll keep this short. Must finish your meal with soft serve ice cream!
