Great hotel, which I highly recommend. The rooms are very clean, well-kept, and large, with a separate living room and bedroom. I had a lovely partial-view of the ocean from my balcony. The free breakfast was comprehensive: Eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, cereal, bananas, yogurt, and coffee. There is free, convenient underground parking. The bell person was friendly and arrived quickly to help me with my bags. I enjoyed soaking in the large hot tub in the evening under a gorgeous moon. My only complaint was that the room was overpriced, but I'm finding most hotels to be overpriced these days. If you don't have children, I recommend requesting a quiet room away from the pool (like my room). I would highly recommend staying here when you visit Avila Beach. read more

Honestly, I can't find anything bad to say about this place so I gotta go for the full 5 stars. Located right across the street from the beach, this is a really cute hotel with full-on beach theme decor. A much better choice to stay than that skanky frat-house of a motel on the opposite end of the street (Inn at Avila). Room was very clean. I was happily surprised to find the unit had a sitting room with a fridge and television separate from the bedroom. Our first floor room had a nice patio facing the pool and beach. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and soft robes were provided. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free parking and free breakfast. And a free gym (small but with the essential equipment: elliptical, treadmill, bike and a few weight machines) was taken advantage of. I was very pleased and satisfied with my stay here! read more

This hotel has beautiful grounds and pool area. The location is right across from the beach and convenient to all the shops and restaurants in the area. The rooms are nicely updated and the views are nice. The ground-floor oceanfront rooms are very noisy as they are on a public street and if the upstairs rooms are occupied, the pounding person walking around is horrible. Stay upstairs if you decide to stay here and take one of the partial or partial ocean view/pool view rooms. These rooms still have a view of the ocean, but away from the street and sidewalk. This place is kid-friendly, so keep that in mind when booking. They do have a free breakfast daily, but I would skip it. The food and coffee offerings were not very good. read more

We were stoked to find this place! We drove down to catch a concert in town and chose to stay here due to the location and amenities. Family friendly and quaint. There is a pool and hot tub that faces the ocean. Daily continental breakfast was really good as far as continental breakfasts go. They had a yogurt bar, waffle bar, oatmeal bar, and pretty much anything else you are craving. The grounds were beautifully manicured and staff were friendly. They only downside was access to filtered water. There is one station in the lobby and they sell bottles of water for $5 a pop YIKES! It is located across the street from the beach, a 5 min walk to the music venue, and blocks away from stores, restaurants, and bars. We plan to make this a family yearly vacay destination! read more

Very nice hotel that has tons of perks! The hotel campus is large but well done. Staircases landings and railings add interest to the eye and keep this note from being boring. The view of the ocean is amazing! You can hear the surf from the room. Can't walk 400 yards to the surf? Hop in the nice pool heated in the winter. Breakfast is continental and included. I liked the coffee (better than any hotel's coffee in my memory) and the food was varied and fine. A nice surprise was the ham and cheese filled croissants! My kids like the little waffles. The water pressure was powerful in the nice clean room. Two TVs in the suite with a bunch of channels on nice LG TVs. I didn't hear anyone else during my stay. Some places you hear everyone next door but I didn't. Pack some The staff was nice and parking free. I would return! microwave pop corn for the room because there is a microwave and two luggage racks? Nice! I wanted to grab a beer and the front desk was selling wine and beer in a little pop up store. No complaints! OH! Get this they have windshield cleaning squeegees in the parking lot! I have never seen that in a hotel and thought was super cool. Parking lot has wiiiiide spaces too. Gotta love that! read more

This is our guilty pleasure. My husband and I love it here. The suites are well appointed, clean and the view from your room and deck is Outstanding. The quaint hamlet offered yummy treats, delish local wines and five star meals all within walking distance. The surrounding area offers a great golf course and Sycamore Springs with their sulphur baths and spa treatments will take your relaxation to the next level. Adequate. $$$ What you're paying for is the location. That's about all, not many amenities. Other hotels near by give guest drink vouchers, wine, and pies. Not necessities but it's nice when you're paying a premium price to get little kick backs. At Avila Lighthouse you can expect little personality with their lackluster customer service at check in, tiny high caloric burritos in the morning that you have to warm yourself, cold breakfast, no spa during covid, a cool that is advertised as "warmed" however is freezing, and an average suite which you would pay have the price for if it were located anywhere else. read more

Location: Central Coast north of Pismo Beach. Sits on the beach frontage road which turns into a pedestrian area with restaurants and places to drink. With the beach right there it's great for kids as well. Hotel: Very nice, gated with a pool in the middle. The rooms were very nice. We stayed in Rm 224, a second floor room facing the ocean. We had a living room and a bedroom with a king size bed. We also had a small balcony. Staff: Excellent. They even had a digital assistant that sends you messages. You can also text it and they are quick to respond. We had to complain Friday and Saturday nights because the folks in the room next to us, a group of 3-4 20 something yr old guys, got drunk and were very loud very late. Within a minute security was at their door and they calmed down. You don't get this cheaply. I believe we paid $450 a night for a beachfront room. It was worth it for us as we were celebrating our 40th anniversary. We'll definitely go back and recommend it for anyone looking for a good time. read more

Our family is super thankful for the mobility beach wheelchair that we had the opportunity to rent from Avila Lighthouse Suites. The service is provided by Jack's Helping Hand, which we found on google while trying to figure out some wheelchair friendly activities. Can't say enough how happy this made my mother to be able to enjoy a few hours at the beach. The rental is free, all you need to do is book your reservation online. There are a handful of wheelchair options available at a few beaches in the area. We were lucky to snag a parking spot right in front of the hotel. The gal at the front desk was very kind and after a few minutes of paperwork we were on our way to enjoy the beach. We didn't stay overnight at the hotel this time but we are planning to return soon. The property is right on the water with many rooms facing the ocean. The hotel also offers several different room layouts, which can accommodate small and large groups. Avila beach is clean and well maintained, including restrooms. There is a park across from the hotel that includes a basketball court. Also across from this hotel is the aquarium. Great location for families!! We just stayed at Avila Lighthouse over the weekend and most beautiful place as well as the beach and restaurants. The staff is super and the pool is very nice. The only downside was they had a wedding on Saturday early evening and what became a party with loud music which lasted till 10 Pm. Then the wedding party headed to the pool area and the party continued till 3 in the morning. It was a beautiful night but impossible to keep the windows or door open. If they are having a wedding don't stay in the 119 area rooms which are on the east side of the pool, select the west side room's from the pool. I talked to the front desk during the party which got know where and the morning of checkout which they were great and gave me a discount but would rather have peace and quiet after a day on the beach read more

Be prepared for kids to be yelling and screaming in the pool until 10 PM every night, if they want to do the guests a favor they need to cancel the pool hour at 8 PM, otherwise you will be disappointed everything else is very nice at this hotel but that is very disappointing fact and as we've been here there are 50 kids in the pool so beware. read more

We were coming to Avila Beach for a fundraiser at the Avila Lighthouse Suites Conference Room last weekend and enjoyed a weekend stay at the adjoining suites. The hotel at this late time of year was very sparsely filled, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Guest suites are outfitted with cozy beach-chic furnishings, a living/sitting area, a wet bar, a sunken bathtub, spa bath robes, and a private balcony. There's an on-site fitness center, a heated pool ringed with bright beach chairs, a hot tub and a full-service spa. I took full advantage of all the wonderful amenities with a hard gym seesh and a refreshing pool and hot tub dip. We also received complimentary wine tasting passes to Alapay Cellars, a fun and unpretentious boutique winery a couple doors down. There's also a mini golf putting course, a ping pong table and a life-size checkers board near the pool. We were lucky to be blessed with 70-temps in November, so our stay was nothing short of amazing. The ocean views from our private balcony were breathtaking and such a warm welcome every time we walked into our suite. We strolled along the pier and checked out many of neat Avila Beach shops and restaurants. There are many nearby area attractions like the popular Bob Jones Trail for hiking and biking, the Avila Beach Golf Resort, the Sycamore Mineral Springs, family-friendly Avila Barn and more than a few beachside wine tasting rooms. The lobby area is ultra cozy with a crackling fireplace, white beach house furniture, fresh-brewed Seattle's Best coffee and homemade cookies and a gift shop with all your last-minute beach essentials and apparel. We had a really positive experience at the Avila Lighthouse Suites. We were there last week for 4 nights. The weather was beautiful, and we took great advantage of the proximity to the beach, the park across the street (perfect for little ones) and everything Avila Beach has to offer. Food options are a little limited, so we went south to Pismo and north to San Luis Obispo and found fantastic restaurants. The awesome Children's Museum in San Luis Obispo was also close. The staff was all super nice, which helped make the hotel feel really family friendly. The complimentary breakfast was great, and they had really yummy cookies at the front desk after 2 pm. The covered parking under the hotel kept our car cool, and the shower head in the room was a revelation. Better pressure than at most new hotels. The room was a bit small, and the bed was disappointing - it felt similar to the pull out sofa bed in the other room. There were some knuckleheads chatting it up on the balcony up and over from us a couple days, so noise and privacy weren't great. But at this price point and proximity to a fantastic beach and boardwalk, we thought Avila Lighthouse Suites was a great deal. And so so cute! read more

Eh. I'm kind of underwhelmed by this hotel. Booked an expensive ocean front room for one night, which I was expecting to be blown away by. Yes, it is technically ocean front, but there is a public parking lot that separates the room from the sand. There were people hanging out and walking on the sidewalk outside our room until about 1 AM. I wanted to open the sliding glass door to listen to the waves at night, but there were screaming kids on the picnic benches outside. The patios are also about 2 ft apart and not separated by anything, so you can see and hear your neighbors very clearly. Had coffee on the patio in the morning, but a carload of people parked in front of the hotel blasting loud trap music. There are also 3-4 small trees in front of the patio fence so you can't really see the ocean while sitting. Why would they put trees in front of the view but not between patios? Check in was alright. The lady didn't really tell me much information, just told me about parking and said "you prepaid so you're good to go." Once I got back to the room, an automated assistant texted me telling me to text if I had questions about WiFi, breakfast, etc... kind of weird... couldn't they have just told me at check in? They did have coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby which was nice. All in all, the location was pretty good, service was ok, and layout is cool. But it was much too noisy for a "beach escape". Would probably look into other options if I were to stay here again. read more

I would start with- there is no one to meet and help you out with a luggage it's a self service. Hotel is overpriced we paid 800$ and quality is low. Rooms are ok, shower has little pressure and it takes long time to wash off soap and don't try to wash your hair.They don't have vanity kit.m; Just soap and old body lotion. If you come with a kids- they don't provide with a warm ( normal) blankets- just a light plaid. They have medium size pool that gets very busy. We had partial view of the street and you can see ocean. They also don't provide with late check out.I definitely wouldn't stay there again hotel doesn't correspond the price and service. read more

The Staff makes this a 4 for sure. Everyone was very accommodating! From the manager, Liz down to the maintenance man Nicolas, excellent service with a smile. I need to mention Olivia, Irene and Liz-Beth and what excellent customer service they provided as well. We had a couple of glitches in our suite. Various small gatherings of ants; blow dryer didn't' work; Air conditioning was not running well and the phones did not work for a period of time. We had to use our cell phones to call the front desk. The suites are spacious; well kept and nicely decorated. The pool and hot tub are wonderful. You can't beat the views and walking across the street and jumping in the ocean. The breakfast included with the suite is perfect! The only hot item is a waffle, but who wants a heavy breakfast. I will pack more food/snacks next time, since they have a good size mini fridge and a microwave. The restaurants in Avila are not that spectacular, so we drove in to Pismo to eat. read more

After seeing the place over the past few years, I did a Christmas Break walk-through to see if the rooms and facilities would work for a family summer vacation. I can confirm, it's a beautiful property. I'm looking forward to our summer vacation in Avila Beach and our stay at Avila Lighthouse Suites. Not impressed at all! Expectations were high based on the conversations while booking the room with hotel staff. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and checked in without issue. When trying to use our card key to get into the room, they didn't work. Seems it was a problem all weekend for many guests. Once getting in the room, we notice ants in the bathroom and on the counters. I notified staff and they said they would clean up the mess. We left to join our friends and I did not pay attention when returning. However, during the evening we were bitten numerous times from what was found to be more ants - in the bed! The next morning, we were on our way and I again mentioned the ant infestation to the lobby staff and they said housekeeping will take care of it. In looking at our towels and the number of ants in the bathroom I don't think we were even cleaned that Sunday as everything was in disarray when we returned. Sunday was spent golfing which was nice. But when returning to dip in the pool, it was nasty. I think the oceans water had more visibility. I walked up to a murky milky water that just didn't look right. After a quick dip and being repulsed by the gritty feeling of this water that I hoped would be refreshing and was just nasty, I found there to be no towels! Par for course! As we were leaving the pool, a bunch of kids began scaling the fence to gain access to the grounds and began showering and using the facility to clean themselves off. The entire weekend was pretty much a bust! I thought I was getting away to a quaint beachfront cottage with a private patio and instead was located on the second floor to share with everyone at avila beach! I would not ever pay $250 a night to stay in a motel 6 and this was at par with that! I am upset that I spent $2400 for my two rooms for two nights! I am sorry to write a scathing review but people need to know, this place is cute and way overpriced! read more

We recently spent three nights here - we had a master king suite (Room 201 to be exact!). The room was spacious, clean and had a beautiful ocean view. They have bellhop carts for guests to use to get all your items up to your room rather than making multiple trips to the car (THANK YOU to whoever came up with that idea!). The hotel is located within walking distance of restaurants, shops, parks, etc. My only complaint, and this is not the hotel's fault, was that on Friday night, we had a lot of noise coming from Front Street (the street across the street from the beach and right under our room). First it was loud voices from people having a prolonged discussion about saving the world (so to speak) at 1:30 in the morning and outside of their car, rather than in it. When they finally figured out how to save the world and left, we were then "serenaded" by a very, VERY loud boombox of some type with Mexican music and a couple of people that had to talk very loudly over the very loud music. This was at 3:00 a.m.! I finally called the front desk to complain only to find out that he had received numerous complaints from other guests and had called the sheriff's department about it. If the activity from Front Street is that loud on a December night I can't imagine what it must be like in July. There was very little sleep for us on Friday night. Thankfully, Saturday and Sunday nights were perfectly quiet. The breakfast they offer is nice - make your own waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon, various fruits, cereals, bagels, etc, yogurts and pretty decent coffee! Get there before 10:00 as they clean it up after that! Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely return on our next visit to my parents. read more

Lovely location right next to downtown Avila and the beach! Stayed here for a business trip, but it honestly felt like a vacation. All the rooms have views of Avila Beach and the property has beach access. My room was very clean and I loved all of the attention to detail. The lobby/reception area is very cute and you can buy bath bombs (the bath tubs are HUGE!), beach accessories, bottles of wine, etc. There's a hot beverage station as well as cookies available. Such nice little touches. Breakfast was fine--nothing to write home about. Menu includes hard boiled eggs, cereals, muffins, croissants, croissant sandwiches, waffles, yogurt, etc. I'm only giving 4/5 stars because I believe the hotel is very pricey for what it is. I would definitely love to stay here again for a business trip, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to shell out (pun-intended ;) ) for a personal trip. read more
