*UPDATE to my 5/17/23 Post* I was SO bothered by the funky smell of the car we rented (there's only so long that one can tolerate someone else's funky smell) and the seat stains were just too much to ignore, so I used a little car upholstery cleaner and elbow grease and cleaned the seats - which also freshened the smell of the interior of the car. *I added an 'After' pic of the seat - looks and smells so much better!! read more

If I could leave a zero, I would. I had a reservation early in the morning to pick up a car before rushing to work. I was given a car that reeked of cigarette smoke, and requested a change. I was told this was their last car and being that I needed to get to work, I told them I was concerned about being charged for the cigarette smell. The guy told me that he would sign off on my receipt and it would not be held responsible. Of course a week later after returning the car, we were charged $500 for the smell! I contacted the manager and was told they would take care of it. A week goes by and nothing. I decided to go see her in person, and was greeted by the same guy who originally signed off on the smell. I asked to speak to the manager, and he claimed to be the manager. I saw the business card and it had a female name on it, and questioned him about it, which he said well that's his wife and basically since she's the manager, so is he. I finally got in touch with the actual manager and again she promised to take care of it. Another couple weeks go by and nothing, so we call Avis corporate and forwarded them all our signed off receipts regarding the smell. They concluded they would "help" as a "courtesy" by refunding half! Wow! We had to file a claim on our credit card which finally resulted after months with them having to refund all of it back. Shame on the unethical couple running this place, shame on Avis for how they handled everything. read more

Rented a car from LAX to be dropped off here. When I arrived at 1430 for my 1500 drop off time, there was a handwritten paper sign that said "will be back at 2:30PM." I waited for 10 minutes and contemplated on what I should do. Just as I was about to call corporate, the guy came out. We walked to the rental (I just parked in a spot near the office since there are no designated spots). He was very polite. He checked the car exterior, checked the gas and we parted ways. I got a text 5 minutes later saying that my rental car has been returned. Relatively quick and easy process. I usually rent from AVIS because of the Costco membership and haven't had any issues. This location customer service is truly horrible. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!! We went in to pick up a pre-paid rental. I just ordered a new license and had the valid interim paper provided by the CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES I also called the customer service line and reviewed their policies from the official Avis website which states: Issued by US or Canada, or by another country that meets Avis requirements. -Must be valid entire rental period. -Cannot be suspended, expired, revoked, canceled, or surrendered. * Temporary licenses are acceptable if they meet the criteria above. When we arrived to pick up the rental I proceeded to present my VALID interim license, passport and credit card to the rental agent. Instantly I was met with horrible customer service. The rental agent Dao proceeded to tell me that Avis doesn't take interim drivers license. I proceeded to tell him how I spoke with several agents to ensure this would not be an issue and also showed him on the companies policy on the Avis website which states the criteria for temporary drivers license. Dao proceed to say " well we don't, and we can go back and forth but things are not going to change " he refused to accept my Valid paperwork and double charged us since my Bf had to rent with his debit card and drivers license. I have personally worked for several other rental agencies and stated that this is unusual for you not to accept official documents from the state of California . Dao proceeds to say "well that's not here so we can't" Dao customer service was very unprofessional and honestly the worst I have received from any car rental agencies. I do not recommend this location to anyone. UPDATE *** it has now been almost two weeks since we have experienced this issue. I called to formally complain and talk to the manager because we are still charged almost $700 for a rental that should not be even half of that. I prepaid for a 4Runner or something close to it a couple days before my rental date. I work at a hospital and couldn't make it early to pick up my car, I got there at 4:40pm, 20 minutes before they close. Unfortunately I lost my DL but have pictures on my phone. This sales associate Matt gets on the phone and calls the owner. Owner says it's ok if I have my passport on me. I live half a mile from this car rental and asked if I could drive home really fast to get it, he says no, he can't because he doesn't get paid over time and cannot wait for me, by the time I get back "he will be gone" are his exact words. I cannot believe this moron has the nerve to tell me that he doesn't get paid over time pay and won't wait for me. This is how this place treats their customers. I couldn't believe this shit. I prepaid a few days in advance. I asked what my options were and he just said "sorry," I'm not getting paid overtime to help you so I can't stay. I couldn't believe my ears. I will never rent again from this place. If you want to get treated like shit, please, come here, they specialize in doing that. Oh also I was told by Matt that Dale is the owner, I'm speaking to Dale right now and he says he's not the owner, he's only the manager. So not only do they treat their customers like shit, they lie to you. Convenient location and nice representatives.

This location is great! The guy is SO nice, they always have a variety of cars and always have the type of car that you reserve. I love that it is a neighborhood location rather than having to go to the airport or down to the Disneyland area. It is so convenient and quick, I've always been in and out in less than 10 minutes. The cars are always newer and in great condition. I recently rented a Toyota Camry and was shocked that I got 41 miles to the gallon... Saves on the gas too. I just wanted to add another positive review so people wouldn't be so scared off. Rented a car for a week via Costco Travel and had no hiccups with it. Drove up to NorCal with the car, and brought my own Fastrak. We were told to call Fastrak to let them know to charge the Fastrak rather than sending the bill to Avis, and from what I can tell, it worked out! I was grateful for that suggestion and for having less hassle in having to pay excess fees for toll road. The car itself was exactly what we needed. It was clean and nice on the inside. There was a bit of writing on the windshield, but it didn't really bother us much. There was an error in the oil change alert. We called Avis while we were on our trip and they let us know that they were aware of when the next oil change would be, and it was just the car's alert going off. They gave us tips on how to turn off the beeping. Would rent again from here when necessary! read more

Beware...this location's customer service/policies are an utter joke. I booked a reservation a week in advance and when I arrived to pick up my rental car, the agent at the front desk asked me for my DL and credit card. Five minutes later he informed me that the name on my DL and credit card did not match. What didn't match wasn't my name, it was the fact that I have two last names (a paternal and maternal last name), one of which I don't regularly use. People of Hispanic origin typically have two last names and the agent at this location refused to accept my credit card because it didn't match name for name what was on my driver's license. Ridiculous...utterly ridiculous. I've rented cars from this location for at least 5 years with another agent that was so gracious and hospitable that I kept on coming back, and I have never been refused service because of this. Obviously, that agent is no longer here and as a result I will never return. I then provided the agent with a debit card matching name for name what was on my DL. The agent ran my debit card and then told me that the system required my social security number so they could run a credit report. I refused because I've had my ID stolen before and I don't provide just anyone my SSN. The agent told me that there was nothing he could do and just like that my family's weekend vacation was ruined. I recommend that you never do business with this location. Obviously, they're sticklers for details and want to know everything about you before they rent you a car. The kicker: at one point during this entire debacle, the agent was skeptical that I was the person on my DL and asked me to remove my mask so that he could match the photo with the person. Insulting. This place is great for rental cars. No lines, super quick service, friendly employee. You get the car quickly and when you return it, the inspection is quick as well. Rates are great. I have rented cars here twice thru Costco Travel. The cars have never been cleaned either inside or washed on the outside. First time there was glitter all over the seats like somebody went to a prom in the car and it stuck to all my clothes. I assumed it was just an oversight because what rental car company does not clean their cars between uses. The second time was the same deal. Leaves and dog hair all over the carpets, and the car had not been washed in , I would guess , a month. Not sure how the franchise like Avis lets this happen at this location. read more

Do not rent a car here. We had a reservation for a car rental for our trip to Colorado. They wouldn't give us our AAA discount because whoever made the reservation did not take my AAA number. They lost the keys to the car we were supposed to take so we had to wait for someone to drop off a car. The car was absolutely filthy. While driving through the desert with no cell phone reception the check engine light came on. The car was over 6000 miles over an oil change and had 0 oil in it. Terrible service. Two issues. 1). I rented a vehicle for 3 days. When I picked up my rental car, the male employee inspected the car with me noting a few small dings and dents. I then drove home. When I got home (about 5 miles) ,I looked at the inspection form and saw that he had checked the fuel level at a full tank of gas. I actually only had 3/4 of a tank. Having been told that I was required to bring the car back at the fuel level that I rented it at or pay $9.99 a gallon for them to refill it, I drove back to show them the error. There was now a female at the counter and I explained the fuel gauge error. She simply changed my receipt to show that the vehicle actually was rented with 3/4 of a tank of gas. I then drove back home. A few minutes later, I received a call from her stating that the person who inspected the car with me (the male) insisted that the car had a full tank of gas. I told her that I was looking at the gas gauge and it was actual a little below 3/4 of a tank. She again stated that she was told it had a full tank. I told her that I would drive back to prove that I wasn't lying and she could look at the gauge. When I arrived, the male employee went out and looked at the gauge. When he came back inside, he said yes it's 3/4 full and that he thought it was full when he checked it. No apology for the inconvenience of having to drive back there 2 times 2). The next day, I discovered that I wouldn't need the rental car for the next 2 days so I drove back to turn it in after a 1 day rental. When she told me that my charge was reduced to $70 dollars and change from the 3 day rental fee, I asked her how it could be $70 when the 3 day rental was only quoted at $160. She informed me that I hadn't driven the required amount of miles for a 1 day rental (she said either 50 miles or 75 miles was required, I don't recall which). She said there was a $20 charge for not driving the required miles. When I questioned her again, she stated that she could probably take that charge off, which she finally did. I made a reservation for an Avis car rental and prepaid (DON"T PREPAY!). Right after I made the reservation, I realized the pick up reservation was at the wrong location. I canceled the reservation, so I could make a reservation for the correct location. On the cancellation email it said I was being charged a $50 cancelation fee, but I could call to get the fee waived. I called the number and the agent said I did not meet the criteria for the waiver... So the fact that the turn around time booking, to cancellation, to trying to rebook was 5 minutes or less, in essence cost me $50. I sure hope some CEO of Avis is enjoying a $50 steak bought by my hard earned money, after I feel they swindled me. Poor policy, Avis and poor customer service. I will tell EVERYONE I know to never book at this agency. Enjoy my $50! read more

If you ask to speak to the head manager they will tell you they have paged them, and leave you sitting in the lobby without any regard for your time or money. There are many other Outstanding car rental companies whose Actions match their mission statements to Provide Great Service. Don't chance it, it is not worth the risk. I rented a car for 4 days because my personal car was in the shop being repaired. I thought everything was going great until I returned my car in 2 days earlier. David Hwang informed me that I would only pay the amount of $77.92 because I had the rental car for only 2 days instead of 4 days. Well I checked my credit card statement and I was charged for the 4 days. I confronted David and he told me its Budget and Avis policy not to refund the money. Why didn't David Hwang inform me of the crooked police before I returned the car. I would have kept the car for the 4 days. David informed me with a cocky attitude that thats the policy and there is nothing the he can do. Look at the billions of dollars the car rental agency's are making by robbing the money of customers. Really not happy with the service received from here. Leading up to the day of was fine - all booked and was told we could collect our 2 cars at 9am. Arrive at 8.55. End up waiting over an hour before even being seen. The lady then bumped 2 different people, who came in after us, in front of us and made us wait even longer. When we got to the desk she claimed we hadn't told her that our drivers were under 25 (even though we did and she took the booking) and that the person who booked the cars couldn't pay because she wasn't one of the drivers?! She finally took us out to the first car and half of the group left. The rest of us waited a further 30 minutes for the second car! She stated that the car was being cleaned and yet the car we were getting had been next to us in the parking lot for the 90 minutes we had waited!
