I made a reservation and had to cancel the same day. My reservation was for 2 days in the future. However, Avis charged me $25 because I used a credit card for my reservation. I would not recommend using a credit card to make a reservation with Avis. As Avis told me on the phone it's in their terms and conditions. Customer service ( which is no customer service ) at all went on to tell me that if I had cancelled 6 hrs before my reservation there would have been a $100 charge. So if you want to be ripped off - use Avis. If you are ripped off by Avis on a cancelled reservation, I can only imagine other ways Avis comes up with to rip-off customers. If I hadn't been charged $25 by Avis I wouldn't have bothered to write a review. Rent at your own risk with Avis. read more

I was expecting and hoping for a better experience based on all the positive Yelp ratings, but unfortunately my experience was mediocre. There was only one representative working the counter and the poor guy had a line waiting for him on top of incoming phone calls. The wait was not ideal, but it was ok especially seeing how busy the poor guy was. When I got my car, it was very dirty both inside and out. It appears that they just gave me a car that was just returned as I found a Taco Bell receipt on the seat. I had to do my own walk through observation just in case there were nicks, dents or damages that were incurred before I took possession. I noticed the gas gauge was half full but the contract printed up as full tank. That meant when I returned the car I would have to ensure that I put in a full tank...giving them an extra half tank. It just didn't seem professional and validated my usual thoughts of car rentals which is not high. read more

We rented a car in France last year from Avis. After spending almost a full day tracking down where the car actually was, being given three different incorrect addresses, we finally got the car. We registered a complaint, and months later, were given a token $40 dollar off coupon. This is after many years s as a "Wizard" member and many car rentals. Three months later, when we tried to redeem the coupon, we were told the coupon had already been redeemed. The first time we contacted customer service about this issue, they hung up on us. The second time, we were told that the rate they could offer us, even given the supposed coupon, was still more than the rate we could get on avis.com without any wizard number or discount. I would counsel any would-be car renters to go with another rental agency. Avis clearly hasn't figured out that "we try harder" actually means trying harder. Kirk Saunders read more

Update: My previous review has somehow been deleted, so am posting it here... Beware of this location! Unless you do not value your life, you do not value good service, and do not value your money! (1) Rented a car from them on 27-Dec. Then was figured in an accident/crash (luckily, no one was injured) on 29-Dec when the brakes failed. The guy from the towing service told me that the car Avis rented out to me was actually flagged for recall for faulty brakes - the Dodge Avenger. (2) They hold you responsible if you canot return the car to the appropriate location at the appropriate date/time, when in fact, no one was available at this location for hours when I did show up at the appropriate date/time; and more so the fact that I called an hour-or-so back to confirm the return time. They would then threaten to both overcharge me for one extra day and for extra towing service if they need to get the car back. (3) Ah! The usual hidden charges for which Avis is known for - I got charged US$909.03 on my AmEx, when the original contract amount was US$837.49. No - it was returned on a FULL tank, no parking fees, traffic violations, etc. Beware of this location! Better yet, avoid Avis altogether... This was my FIRST with Avis and will be my LAST. read more

I chose this location out of convenience and price through my Costco membership for two recent road trips. I've rented with other companies before, but my business felt more appreciated those times. Customer service was not great, and this is the only place I've been to that doesn't have someone bring the car to you. I was just given a pair of keys to go hunt for my car rental somewhere in the lot. No one even walked me to my car, I just walked around pressing on the remote until I found the one. The first car we rented was also really beat up and out of shape. My head rest was broken and there were scratches and dings everywhere. I decided it wasn't a huge deal the first time around so I gave this place a second chance. What was really unacceptable was that I could not find my car in the lot the second time after searching for a good 10 minutes with the keys he handed me. When I returned to the store, I had to wait another 10 minutes for their one employee to return from picking up another customer. I told him that I could not find the car so he went out and searched for it himself with the keys HE handed me. Once he realized the car was not in the lot, he handed me another pair of keys to a car that was parked right in front. It was quicker to find because he actually told me the color this time. What a waste of my time! And not even an apology for delaying my departure to my destination. I am appalled at this kind of service and this has never happened to me at other car rentals. Terrible service from this office staff recently. I travel several times a year to Northern California to visit family, and often choose to drive a rental car when I go. Though I generally prefer Enterprise, I had rented one time previously from this AVIS location, based on excellent Costco Travel price and this office's proximity to my home. That time I was provided a free upgrade to an SUV, and all went well. (Why I gave the second star). Not so this time, a few weeks ago. Very poor service, which I did not in fact utilize. This trip, I specifically needed and reserved a full sized sedan-style car that could accommodate my 90+ year old, disabled mother in law, as well as sufficient trunk space for her walker and the luggage of four ladies, my self and said MIL included. An SUV would not do, as MIL cannot get in and out of a vehicle that high off the ground. As such I went to this AVIS office a day early to verify I'd get the kind of car I needed and had reserved, NOT an SUV. The gentleman at the counter informed me they only had SUVs available, but "maybe" there'd be a sedan the next day. He made virtually NO effort to assure he could meet my special needs. UNACCEPTABLE effort and service. I left to find an alternative option elsewhere. Fortunately I found another AVIS office, in Fullerton on East Orangethorpe, that more than fulfilled my needs. I am posting a separate, laudatory review of that office and of Roxy, the office manager there who went out of her way to assist me. As for this N. So having lived in Fullerton for most of my life, and having worked nearby the shopping center and frequenting both Ralph's and Subway several times, you would think one would notice the Avis Rent A Car sandwiched between Healthwise and Subway. Anywho.......I took a shot and rented a car from here. The rental process was quick and easy (Chris you are too freaking hilarious). Drop-off was simple and easy. I will definitely be renting from here again. I had to knock my rating down a star for not having my car (the Benz) ready for me. Other than that I definitely recommend this Avis. read more

It was a TRUE Pleasure to come to this Avis location on Harbor in Fullerton. I had a VERY bad experience in June at an Avis location in the Disney Resort Area; I was leery of renting with Avis again, but I only needed a car for 1 day. I walked in, and I was out within 30 minutes. Between the 2 gentlemen at the counter I was taken care of efficiently. THIS is how a car rental location SHOULD be run. We've used this location for our vacation car rentals several times in the past 10 years because of the ease of renting and excellent customer service. However, this my first yelp review and I'm doing it because Chris Cramer went above and beyond for our most recent rental (May 24th thru June 13th 2017). We came to Chris about a month prior to look at available cars and find one that would suit us best. He was very accommodating, giving us the keys and letting us check out potential vehicles. We ended up settling on a Toyota Corolla. Knowing that rental companies don't reserve particular models, I still asked Chis if it would be possible to try and see if we could get the Corolla anyway. He said to give him a call a week prior to the actual date and he'd see how things looked since Memorial Day weekend is a really busy time. I called, and he said that it looked like one would be coming back on the day we needed it and he'd try to make it available if it did come back. On the day of the rental he tried to call saying that a Corolla would be coming in and ready to rent about an hour later than my actual pick up time. Unfortunately, I made the reservation online and mistyped my phone number so I didn't get the call and showed up at my regular time. My wife and I were so happy to find out that a 2017 Corolla would be coming for us within the hour! We loved the car and can't thank Chris enough for going the extra mile to satisfy us! Anytime we need a car rental, this is the only place we will go and I would recommend this AVIS location to anyone and everyone! read more

Chris is the man to see / call. For once, here is a professional who does what he says he will do, provides the car you want, and doesn't do any dancing and/or change prices. Very personable. Wonderful customer service. And the people who work for him are also very nice. He's there for you for the long term. He wants to put you in a car you like, at a sensible price. I have used car dealers at various times all over the county. Believe me when I say this is the guy to see this time and every time. Super, super individual.
