I am leaving three separate reviews for my hertz experience. First, a nice gentleman picked me up from my Tesla fix auto place to pick up my rent a car here. He was efficient and friendly. When I arrived Frederick/Freddy was the only staff member working that Saturday morning and he already had four other costumers waiting. Someone told me it had been 50mins to one hour wait already. Freddy was manning the phones, the return vehicles and the vehicles being rented out with no help. It was absolutely insanity. Even though his manager later phoned that they would be sending help, it was pointless since he needed help now. No matter how stressful it got, he continued to service everyone with a smile and lots of apologies for the wait. I rented a model y and boy this thing was beat up. He once again apologized about the vehicle and since it was the only one, he didn't have an alternative. We did a walk around and he showed me all the issues and had me sign. I greatly appreciated his wonderful customer service despite of the chaos he endured all morning. I truly hope this hertz revamps their office so it's more hospitable and better staffed. DO NOT BOOK SAME DAY HERE! I'm used to renting at airports. This was my first time using a neighborhood store and it'll be my last. I booked through a third party website and called to verify they had my selection. They said yes and would reserve it because they only had 1 left in the category. When I got there they told me the car was rented out and I HAD to upgrade. I think they saw the price I got via third party. This increased my bill by $100! I needed the car so I agreed. Unlike airports, when they run out of inventory, you pay the price, there are no free upgrades. Employees also don't care and they're not afraid to tell the customers. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, they told me they didn't the a vehicle for me but could give me something different for more money. It's criminal. My uncle was with me as he had flown in from out of state to come to MY BROTHERS FUNERAL. He was shocked at their behavior. ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I left my car at the body shop and was assured that Hertz would take the car back and settle my rental. Turns out they were "too busy" and couldnt get the car in time, so they ended up picking it up a week later than expected (I dropped it off 11/5 but it wasn't picked up by Hertz till 11/12). Little did I know, I was CHARGED FOR THOSE EXTRA DAYS FOR ABOUT AN EXTRA $300. I called multiple times and gave many chances, but they have yet to credit my account. I even called TWICE and BOTH TIMES they said someone would call back. Leo and whoever else is in this office should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. I generally am patient and kind with these situations, but at this point I feel like I am being taken advantage of. NEVER AGAIN HERTZ. Enjoy the chargeback... Although I've been a driver for almost a decade I have never had to get a rental due to a car accident but there's always a first time for everything. Once insurance settled everything, I set up appointments for both my auto body shop drop off and rental car pick up. I chose this Hertz as it was the closest to my home and within that same day Leo reached out to me to clear things up about my pick up. Since I had to drop off my car at the body shop, I had no way to get to the Hertz but Leo set up a Lyft for me and got me to their location. Once at Hertz, Leo helped me with any questions as I had never been through this before. For my rental I received a 2025 Kia K4 which was surprisingly luxurious and a smooth ride. I only had this rental for a day as my car was fixed rather quickly but the process was painless and simple. Once my own car was repaired I talked with Leo and I was able to simply leave the rental at the body shop where he would pick it up the following business day. read more

My experience with this location dates back over a year ago. I was in an accident and my car was totaled. My insurance made a reservation with this location and they gladly changed my rental to the same model car that was crashed in the accident when I arrived to pick-up. They carry a variety of makes and models. The rates were not as bad as I expected and the manager even offered me to switch cars as much as I'd like so I can get ideas of my next car purchase. This location is terrible, they need new management someone who knows how to run a business. You have a reservation but the car is not ready for you. You have to wait 2 hours to get your car. The guys that worked the front counter were nice but didn't care that people were waiting for so long. I've never had this experience at a hertz before. And I will never return to this location again. I was heading out on a road trip and was delayed two hours waiting for the rental. They told me they went to wash the car but It was filthy. This is a very unique Hertz! When I went there they ONLY had electric cars. Which at first scared me, but I appreciated how they walked me through the unique features of the electric cars. I also appreciated how quickly they got us the cars. However the reason for the lower score is because of 2 major things. 1. Upon arrival the lady behind the desk was talking on her cellphone and ignored me for almost 5 mins. After she hung up her customer service was great, but it still was a bad first impression. 2. She started to hand me a paper to call the 800 number and reschedule myself . Then, they said someone was coming back with a car , not sure at what time but within a certain time frame to where they said I could wait around , and they wanted me to pay. So I tried to pay with my husbands card they said no it has to be yours. Well I used my virtual Apple credit card , and they can't manually type it either. So I showed them my ID and my military ID which has my husbands name on it and they weren't able to use that. So they told us my husband would have to come back, rent my car I already paid for online and add me as a driver for more. I was trying to be nice to them and the people just couldn't really budge. Made reservations online through AAA, and was supposed to pick up at Hertz Fullerton Harbor location. Received an email and text confirmation, thought there would be no issues. On my way to pick up the car I received a call from Reyna informing me the car I reserved was not available but she can offer me another and would like to discuss, told me to call back, even gave me an extension. I immediately returned the call and could not get through to any live person just automated system, I'm sure she knew that would happened. Shortly got there and she informed me the only car available would be an SUV, triple the cost, or I could drive 30 miles to the airport and get one there. I told her she needs to honor the price confirmed and not charge me more. That lady rudely told me she will not, I asked for her manager and she said he was on vacation she was in charge. So I had no choice but to leave, and being a Saturday there was no other place near open to find a car, therefore I was without a car. I'm shocked that a company like Hertz could do this to customers. They made a mistake and should have made it right. This company can't be trusted and I'll never use them again. I take a yearly visit back home to California and typically I rent out of the John Wayne Airport in Orange County because of convenience. However, I noticed it was a lot cheaper to book through this location. I was a little skeptical because I have heard it is typically smarter to rent from the airport locations. However, Danny from Hertz changed my opinion entirely! I rented a Tesla for my visit despite never being in an EV before. Danny made sure I knew how to drive the vehicle as well as basic operation of the Tesla prior to me leaving the location. We had a great experience with Leo and his customer service. My cousin had problems with her credit card and Leo was very accommodating at helping us work it out so she was able to have a rental car for her vacation here. My cousin was very overwhelmed as a single mom with her two young kids. At the end of it all my cousin drove off in a great suv hybrid very realized and happy. Other people came in while we were there and I noticed a few problems that were not really anything to do with them such as another branch saying they had something in stock but wasn't or even coming in early for a reservation. There is nothing good that I can say about this place. If I could give 0* I absolutely would. First off, I showed up and it looked like the location was closed down. There's no signage to state that they're open. On my rental, I reserved a mid-sized sedan which Hertz states is a Toyota Camry or similar. They originally upgraded me to a compact SUV, but then without telling me, downgraded me to a compact sedan (Toyota Corolla.) We waited two hours for them to go out, wash the car, and clean it before coming back and us finding out about the downgrade. I went back in because I was still paying for a midsize, and my partner and I wouldn't fit in the compact with all of our luggage. The rental agent then had the audacity to argue with us that a Corolla is a midsize sedan, when both the Toyota and Hertz website states that it is a compact car. I am in the area frequently, and will never be returning. If you're thinking of renting in this area, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Each time there's at least a 15 minute wait for someone to even show up at the desk, there isn't a bell or any way from the front to try and get someone from the back. Worst car rental experience ever. Booked using hopper app. Arrived around 3:45pm. No one at the rental desk. There was a lot attendant named Mike but he did not help anyone. The desk person was Leo. I spoke to him around 4:10pm. He inquired about my reservation. He acknowledged I reserved an electric vehicle. A little after 4:45pm he informed me that he did not have that car available. I could take a pickup instead of a car or I could take a Nissan Sentra for an up charge. He stated that he could not honor my reservation rate for the Sentra. I informed him that he should have told me this information an earlier so that I could find another vehicle somewhere else. Leo should not be working the desk. His customer service skills are very unprofessional and unsatisfactory. There were two females there before I arrived. Both waited over 1-1/2 hours to get their vehicle. Another person came to drop off their rental and was told to vacuum the vehicle or receive a charge for cleaning. Before renting from this location check out the numerous one star reviews. If I could I would give this location a negative five star review. Whomever is the district manager for this location should spend their time here and fix this customer service problem.
