Couldn't be happier with our experience at Aviva! Everything was amazing. The rosemary chicken is absolutely packed with flavor, as was the chicken shawarma. All of the sides were incredible. The staff go above and beyond to be welcoming, helpful and friendly. They were offering samples of their soups and they were so very good. There is plenty of seating inside and out, and the restaurant is bright and clean. We were visiting from out of town and were just having such a nice time briefly chatting with the staff and telling them how great the food was and how we will come back whenever we can. As we were eating a member of the staff came around handing out plates of fresh watermelon to everyone, of course for free. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was actually the best watermelon I've ever had! We actually told some of the front desk employees at our hotel about our great experience (we were staying right down the street) and they hadn't eaten at Aviva yet but I think we convinced them they need to try it! We came in our first night of our stay after driving all day and it was just all around the best possible experience and kicked off a great trip for us. read more

Aviva by Chef Kameel... I honestly don't even know where to start. My sister and I stopped in while I was visiting home, and I probably would've walked right past this place if she hadn't already known about it. It's tucked into a shopping center in Buckhead, but don't let that fool you, this is a hidden gem. The food? Incredibly fresh. Like, actually fresh. It reminded me of what places like Roti (in Chicago) or Sweetgreen used to be before everything got overly commercialized, clean ingredients, simple, and done right. It's a build-your-plate style setup (think Cava), but everything is constantly being refreshed and made as people order. We both went with the salmon (pretty sure it was king salmon), and it was cooked perfectly. I got mine medium with veggies and slaw no carbs and it was easily one of the best meals I've had in a while. What really stood out, though, was Chef Kameel himself. He came out, greeted guests, checked in, and was genuinely present. On our way out, he even handed out samples of a flourless date chocolate cake, which was incredible. You can tell he really cares about clean, sustainable food and the overall experience. Everything was seasoned perfectly, you don't need heavy sauces or extras. It just hits. I'm already looking forward to going back the next time I'm home. My only hope is that as it grows, it keeps this same level of quality and care, because it's special. My company always uses them for our catering, and it's the best decision ever. Who doesn't want healthy, filling, quality, catered meals for their themselves/ colleagues? Is this the second time I've had Aviva by Kameel this week? Yes. (The other was at The Collective Food Hall at Coda in Midtown -- though this review is for the Buckhead location!) Why? Because I crave their rosemary chicken on a near-regular basis now. It may lean a little salty, but it's always moist, flavorful, and elevated even further with their incredible green sauce. The skin has just the right crisp and seasoning, and the portion is generous -- you're basically getting half a chicken, plus two sides (there are plenty of hot and cold side dishes to choose from) and two pieces of pita bread. At $17, it's on the pricier side for fast casual, but absolutely worth it. My go-to sides are the rice and vegetables, though occasionally there's a hot pasta side that's also excellent. The Buckhead location adds even more appeal with beer on tap and wine by the glass, plenty of parking out front, outdoor seating, and an extremely clean dining room. The chef came out to meet and thank everyone personally, and has such an incredible presence. He loves what he does and you can tell! The staff is also super nice and helpful. The chef brought us some baklava to try which is fully vegan. They do not use any seed oils here. They also carry many local drinks along with wines and beers. I got to try Aviva today and it was awesome. All of us had the same thing- Salmon (not pictured because we dug right in and I just kept going until it was all gone), fresh veggies, and rice. I asked if they could do a half-and-half situation and give me half the rice. The young lady serving me offered to go halfsies on another side and I was like- awesome, yes! So, I also had the creamy spinach. Mom and our friend both had the two soups: the vegan vegetable and the creamy chicken soup. I just had the creamy chicken soup. Our friend also took advantage of the complimentary watermelon since we arrived a tad late. When I say the soup was top-notch... I can only tell you about my experience, but it packed in SO much flavor and it was hearty too! I liked the soup SO MUCH, I actually went back and ordered a large bowl ($11) to go. It's my lunch for tomorrow. The chicken and other ingredients made it hearty, the soup was creamy and rich, and by the time I got down to the bottom of my bowl, I was scraping my spoon into the crevices trying to eek out every last drop. DELICIOUS. The salmon was perfectly crunchy on the skin-side, yet the inside was still nice and juicy. The top was a little dry, but that was just the outside top...it don't affect the flavor or the mouthfeel. I wish I'd had a little salt to accent the salmon, but they didn't have any on any of the counters. The flavor was still on-point though, so no worries there. The veggies were well-cooked, but still perfectly crisp, and complimented the salmon well. The creamy spinach really went well with the rice and added a ton of depth of flavor. Many times, when I get creamy spinach (-anything) it has this weird sour flavor that I just don't like. Here? Nope- perfectly creamy. Perfectly spinachy. Very good! Finally, they had some artisan sodas- a root beer and a peach soda. I ordered the peach soda on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The only have like 5 ingredients: bicarbonate soda water, pure cane sugar, peaches (!), and citric acid and something sodium ("for freshness"). The fewer the ingredients, the more natural the product- but often, it's not a better product. I've NEVER had such a perfectly delicious peach soda in my life. It was so good! I even went back up to the counter and ordered 2 more (one each for my friend and my mom). They loved them too! This place is clean, looks nice, has various forms of seating (benches, chairs, cushioned stools), has indoor and outdoor dining areas, and they're whole motto is "healthy eating", so they're ingredients and offerings, all the way down to their sodas are as natural as they come. This place gets a full 5 stars from me! I'll definitely be back- and that's despite the price, which IS a little high: $100 before tip for 3 meals and 3 drinks. Wow this exceeded all my expectations!! I'd been wanting to try Aviva by Kameel for a while so when my friends and I went to watch a movie at Phipps, we stopped in for a quick dinner beforehand. There's plenty of parking in the lot out front. We got there about 30 minutes before close on a Thursday but they were still able to serve us and in fact, because it was so close to end, gave us some free soup and popsicles and fruit! Aviva is fast casual so we ordered at the counter, Chipotle-style. I got the chicken plate with lentils and creamy chicken soup as well as tahini sauce. They also gave me some tabbouleh for free! Everything was so flavorful and the portions were enormous! The highlight was getting to meet the owner who came around to our table to check in and share his POV and vision for his restaurants. The setup is a Chipotle-style line, and the lady behind the counter was so helpful--she explained how everything worked and gave us generous samples of the red cabbage to make sure we liked it before ordering. I ordered the chicken shawarma with lentils, falafel, and vegetables for $17. The portion was huge and the seasoning was perfect (the lentils have my heart). My friend got the lamb shawarma wrap ($24) and it was literally the size of her face; she had enough to take home for lunch the next day. The restaurant isn't huge, but they have a good mix of seating from booths and a communal table to a bar and outdoor space. The service was the most pleasant surprise. It felt less like a business and more like being in the owner's home where everyone is family. As we were finishing, they brought around complimentary warm tea, the owner personally greeted and checked on every table, and they even had a box of free small chocolates. How do you not love this place? The fact that they're opening up their third location in Atlanta...which much anticipated fanfare...speaks to the degree to which Kameel has cultivated and perfected his brand....and deservedly so. "Aviva" is a palindrome. It has various meanings (springtime, rebirth, etc.), but more importantly, it is meant to convey "freshness and family" via quality Mediterranean cuisine. The ambiance is constructed with just enough lime green "pop" to show you how seriously they embrace this theme. Upon entry, there is even a sign indicating that no seed oils are used in their cooking, reflecting a salubrious zeitgeist within contemporary gastronomy. I can't emphasize enough how friendly and welcoming the staff is. They are eager to please and eager to exhibit their excellence. The food is, indeed, excellent. We had the falafel, the vegan soup, mujadara, hummus, and cabbage salad. It was more filling than it looked, and we plan to return to try other components of their menu. I had been eyeing this place for a while, visiting LA Fitness and Publix in the plaza many times. After a gym session today, I was hungry for lunch. Spotting Aviva again while walking with my boyfriend to his car, I remarked again "we should try that place soon." He asked me "why not now?" I thought for a second then decided it was the best time! We walked up to the restaurant and were greeted by beautiful blooming flowers and pops of lime green chairs. When we went inside, we noticed every table had vases of tulips on them. The restaurant is clean and modern, with a casual ambiance. The fact that it is counter service made me mistakenly think that this place would probably be mediocre--boy, was I (happily) wrong! We stepped up to the counter and were greeted by a lovely woman who gave us complimentary cups of vegan lentil soup. My boyfriend initially wasn't going to get anything, but everything looked too enticing. We each ordered a salmon salad. Before paying, she instructed us to sit down because it would be about 5-6 minutes. I was a little confused, and wondered if I misunderstood, but we sat down. We finished our yummy vegan soups, which my boyfriend said couldn't possibly be healthy because it tasted so good (I'm sure they were deliciously healthy!). Soon, our salads were ready. We went back to the counter and were asked if we wanted everything on it. We said yes! Everything was plated so beautifully, from the cabbage, to the baba ghanoush, to the hummus, to the tabbouleh, to the roasted peppers, onions, and tomatoes (hidden under the salmon), to the juicy, moist, perfectly cooked salmon, to the drizzle of my choice of lemon garlic sauce per recommendation. And the plates themselves were visually appealing. Even the bottled (or, carton, rather) water ("Just Water" brand) was special. The environmentally-friendly carton says it is made almost entirely of plants. As we paid, they asked if we wanted pita bread (I said just one piece please, and my boyfriend asked for one but said to give it to me haha). We finished our entire plates, they were so delicious (and they were big portions)! So fresh. So beautiful. I'm truly blown away. You really feel the care and attention to detail and quality here. Kameel is such a cool guy. And his food is bomb too! I got the chicken shawarma and it tastes wonderful with garlic sauce!! I also tried his lentil soup and I'm usually not a fan of lentil soup from any other restaurant, but this place does it really well with the right spices. The hummus is great with the freshly made pita, and I'm a huge fan of the creamy chicken soup. I plan to frequent the midtown location because of this experience.
