Avoca has rave reviews across all platforms which is why I'm a little surprised to be giving it three stars. The vibes are great and I could hang here for hours and hours, which I have done. But the food leaves much to be desired and the drinks are inconsistent. I would still recommend Avoca as a nice spot to park with friends on a summer evening, but don't go expecting to be met with culinary prowess. Came here as a group of five on a Friday after work, around 5:45pm. We were able to get a table outside which was lovely. I happened to meet a very cute Great Pyrenees/Australian shepherd mix named Piper (and her owner, whose name I probably did not even ask for, such is my way, for better or for worse) which is always an exciting possibility when outdoor dining. Service was solid and water was refilled relatively quickly (as an overhydrater when drinking, I always appreciate when a water bottle is left on the table rather than having to wait for refills). We came during happy hour so most of us got margs. I ended up getting the Smoky Oaxaca (mezcal, Apricot Giffard, lime juice, chipotle agave, x mole choco bitters, Tajin rim) instead one of the pre-batched margs because I don't drink tequila, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, those of us that got the happy hour margs were underwhelmed, though the classic margs were enjoyed more than the skinny hibiscus marg. I ended up just getting a classic mezcal negroni for my second drink because when a cocktail menu is inconsistent, sticking with the classics is pretty much always a safe bet. Food-wise, we ended up getting some apps for the table and a few folks got mains. I'll stick to reviewing what I tried, though it feels worth saying that while I didn't try the Buffalo Chicken Dip, it did not look appetizing and those who did try it were not thrilled. Eats, below: Tuna Tartare (yuzu, white soy, miso, pickled jalapenos, wasabi, avocado, sesame rice cracker) This was serviceably but I love tuna tartare and have had quite a lot of it in my lifetime so by comparison it was lackluster. Pretty safe as far as preparations go, and good for sharing. Curry Roasted Cauliflower (Roasted cauliflower with a curry spice blend, and topped with homemade hummus) These were underseasoned and also oddly not really served hot or cold, more lukewarm than anything. The homemade hummus was okay but again could've been more flavorful. Avoca Caesar w/ chicken A straightforward Caesar, not much more to say. If that's what you're in the mood for, it's decent. read more

Avoca has become one of our neighborhood brunch spots. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables in the front street-side seating area, and the staff always makes us feel comfortable. On our visits, I've been offered a water bowl right away, and they even have a dedicated dog menu. Any restaurant that takes my dining experience this seriously gets bonus points from me. The food is classic brunch with a few fun twists. On our most recent visit, Mom ordered the "Egg Slut"--their take on a bacon, egg, and cheese served with fries. It was exactly the kind of indulgent brunch dish that makes weekends worthwhile. The menu has plenty of other breakfast and lunch options, and we've enjoyed everything we've tried over multiple visits. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is friendly, and the outdoor seating makes it easy to bring your pup along without feeling like an afterthought. Avoca is one of those gimmicky restaurants that has bottomless brunch and dinner options and plays pop girly music, which unfortunately is one of my favorite brands of restaurant. Food was pretty good here. We tried the truffle fries, Caesar salad, sliders, chicken sandwich, and mac n cheese and everyone enjoyed their food. Service was not great-- it took forever to be seen after we were sat, and our server disappeared when we had been ready for the check for a while. They also have a B health rating posted on their door. They were playing pop hits at the start of our meal, which we all loved, but then they had a live musician play for the back half of our meal. The restaurant is not big enough acoustically to support a live musician. It changed the vibe of dinner. read more

We had a great time as Avoca. It's been a local spot that's been open for a few years but this was our first time going. Ambiance: We sat outside as the weather was really nice and Avoca has great outdoor seating. We sat in the front - they have a nice section where you can feel like you're part of the street crowd but also semi private. Note: They also have a garden patio in the back in case front seating is full. Food/Drinks: We got mocktails and NA beer. I loved that the menu clearly stated which cocktails could be made into a mocktail. They were also willing to work with our flavor profile and make us a mocktail based on what we wanted. For food, we got the fried mushroom. It was pretty good and the sauce was a nice compliment for it. I do wish the mushroom was cut to smaller sizes - it would have allowed for less breading and a crispier fry. We also got the curry cauliflower - unfortunately, it was disappointing for us. It felt way too sour and there wasn't a lot of flavor to it other than that. The truffle fries were really good and a great snack. Service: Everyone was friendly and nice. We sat there for about 3 hours and they didn't rush us. They came and checked on us often. Price: Everything was reasonable priced. Mocktails were about $10 which I think is a fair price. We had reservations on March 20th at 5:00 PM. I really enjoyed the food and drinks, and our waitress was attentive, kind, and great throughout. What didn't sit right with me was what happened after we paid. My friend was finishing the last of his drink when we were asked to move to another table. Someone came by twice, and both times we explained we'd be leaving shortly after finishing the drink we had already paid for. My friend also spoke with two other staff members, and they asked if we had a reservation, as if that was all that mattered. At that point, we were already seated, had paid, and were finishing up. Being rushed out like that after paying and tipping didn't feel right. It really took away from the overall experience and changed the tone of the night. I wouldn't go back if that's how customers are treated. There are plenty of other places in the area that offer great service from start to finish read more

My company had their holiday party in the back room, which was a little chilly but nicely decorated with a cozy feel. For drinks, I opted for Shirley Temple, Tamarind Mocktail, and mixture of Juices. The Shirley Temple was sweet, refreshing, and nicely fizzy. I wasn't really a fan of the Tamarind Mocktail though. It left a weird aftertaste. We had some shared appetizers of Buffalo Chicken dip with Crostini and Crudités, Chicken Tenders, Pigs in a Blanket, and Mushroom Quiche. The Buffalo Chicken dip was full of bold flavor and really tasty with the crispy bread. Chicken Tenders were satisfyingly crunchy and succulent. Pigs in a Blanket was decent as well, with juicy little hot dogs and soft bread all around. For my entree, I ordered the Salmon with lemon beurre blanc, along with Forbidden Rice and vegetables. The Salmon was slightly crispy, lightly charred, tender, and well seasoned. The sauce was creamy smooth with such lovely, nuanced lemony and white wine flavor. The rice was wild rice mixed with white and black. It was well seasoned and cooked well. The vegetables included broccolini and carrots. I got to try the Parmesan Truffle Fries, which were delightfully crunchy, with plenty of cheese and truffle taste. Service was good. The servers were friendly and on top of it. I would be open to returning to try the Avoca Ultimate Smashburger (served with bacon and fried egg). read more

Stopped here on a whim after taking my dog to the park. I was looking for a dog friendly option but keep in mind the dog open inclusive spaces here are outside in front or on the patio in the back if you want to be seated with your fur baby. The interaction with the host though was odd I asked to be seated and instead of him letting me know more about the dog friendly seating he asked if my dog was a service animal. She is, then he asked if I had "paperwork" for her. Service animals don't require paperwork which I let him know. I also didn't want to sit inside because it was too tight so I opted to sit outside to enjoy the unseasonably good weather. My waitress Merit was friendly and helpful with all the questions I had. I ordered two cocktails but no food, I wasn't really hungry. Both drinks were off the menu and good. I ordered noodle something off of the dog menu and she ate all of it. read more

My friends and I went to Avoca on a Thursday for happy hour. They have a gossip girl bottomless dinner special. To participate in the unlimited drinks, you need to purchase an entree, sandwich, or salad. When I arrived, it was pretty packed. I was happy to get a table right by the door. I was the first one to arrive. When my friends arrived, we were informed that everyone needed to participate in the bottomless dinner special. We decided to participate in the special. I ordered a sandwich and started with a Gossiptini to drink. I liked that you could change your drink. After the first drink I went to the Margarita, and I also tried the Mimosas. I enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was ok but after paying the bill I was asked to move to the bar to finish the last of my drink. We had a reservation at 5:00pm and were on the way out but the service staff made it a point to leave. I asked as to why I was being to asked to move when I was almost done and the staff just reiterated to move to the bar. If you have more guests coming then they should wait at the bar until customers finish their food and drinks. I was disgusted by the treatment tonight and will never return. Wend to Avoca without a reservation on a Saturday morning, we were grateful to get a table without having to wait too long; but then the table turned out to be in the aisle between the entrance to the kitchen and the bathroom on a very tight and on the way spot. I feel like that table should not exist at all since it was just a risk of getting hit by trays and being uncomfortably on the way. For food, I had a coffee, a single mimosa (bottomless is also an option but was not feeling it at the time) and the avocado toast which was delicious and very filling. One of my new favorite brunch spots! I loveeee Dominican breakfast so the Tres Golpes is my favorite. I love that they have a variety for bottomless as well. Spicy marg and skinny marg are definitely my go-tos. My servers have always been wonderful. The bartender wasn't great the last time I went but everything else made up for it. My friends and I came here for the Gossip Girl bottomless dinner, which offers unlimited selected cocktails and drinks for just $35 with the purchase of an entrée--a fantastic deal! I ordered the roasted Atlantic salmon, and it was absolutely delicious; I highly recommend it. It came a delicious lemon sauce on the side. The cocktails were enjoyable as well; the spicy margarita had a nice kick, and the Gossiptini was perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a star for the service. We were seated right as we walked in and were lead through to the back patio. Our server was so friendly and made excellent recommendations. Great local spot to hangout with friends. My group of 10 enjoyed the patio seating in the back. They have an awesome deal Wednesdays after 7PM where their smash burger is pretty much half off and only $12 for a solid burger and fries. They have a good list of draft beers on tap as well as tasty aesthetic cocktails. Our server was very friendly and checked on us often. Avoca has been in the neighborhood for a while now but I just got around to going last week for my birthday brunch. I went with two of my oldest friends. We were all excited to try it out. I had eggs be edict with ham since they could not do it with spinach. My friends had the eggs and lox, and the Croque Monsieur. We each had a drink too. I had a mimosa and my friends had the bloody mary and the Bellini. We all enjoyed our meals and drinks. The only downside to this place is the noise level. This is a small place so it gets loud easily. read more
