    Greek Salad

The city can always use an upscale Greek spot and Avra delivers! The layout and decor is very chic and cool which attracts people to stay for a while. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with picking out the best items on the menu. We ordered the Greek Salad, Classic Spreads, Branzino, Grilled Vegetables and Roasted Lemon Potatoes. I appreciated de-boning the Branzino for us as well - they guarantee 95% of the bones will be removed. Everything was 10/10 - so fresh and delicious! They also provided complimentary hummus to start and sorbet for dessert. It is on the pricier side but the quality of food matches the entire experience. Will be back again!

Such a beautiful dining room! I was a little put off with all the marble stairs to second floor where the restaurant is located, I walked up in high heels...since I didn't see where the elevator was, my bad...and yes it is a place for the well heeled! Put those Christian Louboutins on and be bougie! So easy to do here...along with over eating! From the octopus, the lovely bread service, to the perfectly cooked lamb and lemon potatoes! We paired it with a pretty sparkling rose, all the wines are Greek on the list. We finished with the chocolate cake that was rich, decadent and big enough for a table of 4...as opposed to 2 girlies...but we managed to do some damage, capped our night with ouzo shots and attempted those crazy stairs down! Def recommend! Service was attentive, thoughtful and not intrusive but always seemed available.

Boston, we've officially entered our "beach club seafood era" with the arrival of Avra. If you have ever had those iconic Avra chips (paper thin, perfectly crisp, dangerously addictive) you already know why this opening matters. And now we don't have to hop on a flight to get them. What makes Avra so fun is the whole experience: you walk in and are immediately drawn to the stunning bar then sashay your way down to the iced seafood display, where you literally pick your fish like you're at a luxe coastal beach club. Branzino? Lavraki? Tiger Prawn? Yes, yes, and yes. Everything feels fresh, intentional, and just a little indulgent. The menu leans beautifully into pristine sashimi and bright, citrusy ceviches that let the quality of the seafood shine. It's clean, vibrant, and exactly what Boston's dining scene was missing. Between the lush green and posh aesthetic, the energy of the room, and that interactive "choose your catch" moment, Avra isn't just dinner, it's a whole vibe. Safe to say... we'll be back for those chips alone with a creative cocktail.

As soon as you walk into the main restaurant, it's very clear they put a lot of thought into the design. It's beautiful, clean and airy. Service was top tier, including the table side fish deboning. We ordered the avra chips, crab cake, grilled octopus, lamb chops, whole grilled Branzino, grilled king prawns and finished with the avra special dessert. The only sliiight complaint I have is that I wish the avra chips (fried zucchini and eggplant) were a touch more crispy and a little less salted but the cool creamy tzatziki balanced the salt. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in boston!

We ordered two flavors: Olive Oil & Sea Salt and Caramel & Pistachio, both priced at $7. I'll admit, it's a fun concept and a nice addition to the menu. The Olive Oil & Sea Salt was refreshing and had a subtle savory touch that made it different from your typical frozen yogurt. The Caramel & Pistachio was my favorite of the two, with the crunchy pistachios adding a nice texture and the caramel giving it just enough sweetness. That said, I had a hard time justifying the price. While the frozen yogurt tasted good, the serving size was fairly small, and I never really felt like I was getting $7 worth of dessert. It felt more like an Instagram-worthy upsell than something I'd go out of my way to order again. I'm glad I tried it because I was curious after seeing so many posts online, and now I can officially check it off my list. If you're already at Saloniki and want to try something a little different, I'd say it's worth ordering once just for the experience. Overall, I'd give it 3/5 stars. It's refreshing, unique, and a fun twist on frozen yogurt, but I don't think the value matches the price. I probably wouldn't come back specifically for the frozen yogurt again.

The waitress walked us through the menu recommending her favorites as well as explaining the specials. It was recommended to have 2-3 small plates per person. I was obsessed with the octopus last time and it was once again grilled to perfection with excellent acidity. The zucchini chips were delightful (even as someone who hates zucchini's). The feta psiti was a comfort per usual. What blew me away and I was so excited to try was the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection, the look was closer to a medium-well (we asked for medium) but the meat was still perfectly juicy and spiced. The mousaka was also lovely, I have only had this dish homemade and it certainly held its own... definitely had a homemade feel with a generous meat portion. The Roka salad was also lovely. As far as drinks go, I enjoyed my aperol spritz and my spicy margarita a lot, I especially like the tsipouro having tried it as a shot the first time, but I think if I were to go again, I might go for wine for a more consistent liquor content. Now let's talk about service. I want to preface that certain things would 1000% be overlooked had we reserved for a busier time, but we went in 15 minutes after opening and by the looks of it, there were more than enough servers for the tables filled in the patio. The first time that I tried Kava, part of the excellent experience was our server. They were such a sweet person who really took the time to bond with us, brought us a round on the house, and just checked on us and made sure we were always doing good. Today really lacked that element. As soon as we sat down, the server informed us that they were out of three small plates, which happens, but not 15 minutes after opening as this was the case. Nonetheless, we were able to order a lot of yummy things, so fine. We then asked if it would be possible to angle the umbrella some way or move to a different table so I would be covered from the scorching sun this afternoon, and our server said "just wait ten minutes, the sun will move behind the building..." I understand that I asked for a patio and obviously you cannot control the sun nor the weather, but I just feel like the situation could be handled a little better -- at least a better response. Then, my dad ordered a beer which was completely warm. We asked for another which was luke warm, so then he just asked for a cocktail instead. The server was kind enough to bring a cold beer on the house later, but again, right at open, you kind of expect things to be in order. Overall, our server was just kind of... there, not super attentive nor pleasant. Another thing, I tried to get around the Resy "day before" policy because the reservations for Sunday opened during my graduation ceremony on Saturday and I wanted to make sure I get my table especially as my parents were catching a flight, so I emailed management in advance per the host's instructions upon calling. We went back and forth rather unnecessarily (with very delayed replies on their part), then I got completely ghosted... Not sure why. I was eventually able to get a table by calling the host after my ceremony on Saturday and they were incredibly accommodating, but they also noted that this was a graduation celebration, yet there was no acknowledgment... I had a graduation dinner last year at a different establishment in Boston and our server went beyond to ensure a great experience and even brought out a hand-written card with our check. These details could really really help the Kava experience in my opinion. Finally, the servers bringing out the dishes were completely confused. Almost every single dish was brought to the wrong table before reaching us and we could see them running around the patio with our order... rather unprofessional. Ultimately, it is the service that leads me to dock a star from my previous rating. Had the food not been as consistently fantastic, I definitely would be docking more.

He had a $100 Resy credit, which ended up covering our entire meal with a little left over. For the quality of the food and the overall experience, it felt surprisingly affordable and very satisfying. The ambiance is open, stylish, and inviting, with both booth and table seating. We were seated at a corner table, which made the dinner feel relaxed and comfortable. The menu is mostly tapas-style, so it is a great spot if you want to order several dishes and share. One downside is that the entrées were pretty meat-heavy. The kebabs, for example, were limited to beef, lamb, chicken, and swordfish. I would have loved to see a vegetable or tofu kebab on the menu. That said, I was still able to put together a really satisfying meal from the appetizers, mezze, and salads. We started with a dip assortment that came with Lebanese-style flatbread, or manakish. The dips included a spicy yogurt-based dip, beet hummus, and another grainier orange-colored hummus. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and really enjoyable. The standout dish for me was the crispy eggplant. It came as thin, tempura-style slices of eggplant with a pomegranate yogurt sauce and a honey glaze. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but it was absolutely delicious--honestly, I could have made a meal out of that dish alone. We also ordered the fattoush salad, which had the classic vegetables but felt especially fresh because of the watermelon cubes, cherry tomatoes, sumac vinaigrette, and capers. My boyfriend also tried the oysters, which were a special that day. Overall, Ilona was a great dinner spot: cute atmosphere, central Boston location, shareable plates, and tasty Mediterranean food. I do wish there were more vegetarian-friendly entrée options, but I still had a very satisfying meal and would happily come back.

I am disappointed, from the very start to the end my experience was quite bad. The kitchen did not allow a bread substitution for the sandwich we ordered, they did not do waffles at this location either, and when we got our food the portion sizes were very small. The salmon was very overpriced for how much they offered; $27 for a piece of salmon only a few inches across was insulting, but apparently that is just how it is served there (picture below, you can see the pieces of broccoli are almost as big as the fish!) The other dish we got was the chicken sandwich, which is cut into two halves. The first half was normal but there was basically no chicken on the second half of the sandwich, it was essentially all bread. We brought it up to a manager and they got us a new piece of chicken, which fit entirely alongside the old piece of chicken on the bun because it was so small. On top of that we had to wait around nearly half an hour after finishing and had to flag down a waiter to get our check and go. The service overall was very slow. I will never come back to this restaurant.
