So, a friend from work has been telling me about this place since last year and i finally decided to try it. I took my 15 year old son and everything. We got here for Awesom Hour (330 to 630 m-f). Very nice inside. Nice decore. The servers are very nice and kind. I even witnessed the sake bomb. It was pretty dope. It's almost like happy birthday for that table ordering it. You definitely hear the planes flying over to land at Long Beach Airport. It definitely got busy right after we got seated. My son had the awesom roll and the phili on fire. He said they were both good and would order them again. I had the Tale of Mr. B 2X. It was on the veggie menu, maybe vegan because it had a V next to it. The other 2 were again below average. The quality of Sushi here is BAD. And for those who like it, You really need to taste better Sushi. 0 Ambiance: Its a tight restaurant with central bar occupying most of the width. Its a clean spot but can get tight during busy hours. Again its not supposed to be a fancy restaurant but compared to small private business restaurants, its neither bad/nor good. 0.5 Service : Our server was attentive and caring. 1.0 Pricing of Items: We payed over 65$ for 2 people during Lunch hours and we were reasonably dissatisfied with the pricing compared to quality of Sushi we had. 0 Overall Combined Experience: We really wanted to like place for having heard very good things and due to good service but unfortunately,it wasn't to be. This is my favorite place to eat on this planet. There are so many reasons. First are the staff. The main man Chef Pat and main woman Nena have a team like none other. I feel like family each time I enter. We always have our family celebrations there. Chef Pat is a cordon bleu (spellcheck) trained chef and it shows. His creative twist on traditional Japanese dishes are unbelievable at times. His whole team cooks with an eye on taste and aesthetics. Interesting sauces. They can make the ordinary extraordinary. Honestly I'm just very upset with what I ended up getting for the price I was charged. These 2 egg rolls cut in half were 7 dollars. Not only was this so over priced. But the lady with glasses and a pink cap, mid 40s or so was so rude when I asked if I was able to get hot sauce m. Finally made in to this spot which has been on my radar for years. I've been missing out! All around an excellent experience. We had about a 15 minute wait when we arrived but the staff kept us informed, offered us drinks while waiting and was just so friendly. Once seated, our server was over immediately to take our drink order. The menu...ok, now this is where you stood out 1st. It had a color theme to it that was helpful in choosing what I wanted. There is even a couple categories with all the healthier options so you don't have to customize. With unique names for the rolls and a nice mix of flavors, I was so impressed with my order. Lobster roll was great, but XOXO roll (no jalapeno) was the clear standout for me. On a smaller note, the green tea was perfectly brewed and served at a pleasantly enjoyable temperature. They were also kind enough to split the bill (2 couples) from the beginning so food was brought out accordingly as well. It's the little things, just saying. For the icing on the cake, although they earned the 5 star rating already, I saw they offered a free dessert with $40+ purchase.
