    Salmon Avocado Roll

Take out sushi! This spot is so cute! For a quicker way to satisfy a sushi craving, this is for sure a great option. If ya blink, you may miss it. Located right next to a small movie theater, and mostly recognized by the A-frame sign out front, is a walk up window to place your order. Food is made fresh while you wait. Took about 10 mins and my order was ready. Although 4th street can get quite busy, I was able to find parking right in front. Quality little place and prices are affordable.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Very good quality sushi in an unassuming tiny storefront. While I do miss Hip Pea dearly, I must admit it's nice having a good casual sushi option on 4th St convenient to me. Too bad the two couldn't coexist. I guess Jounetsu Ramen further west on 4th does some rolls but I haven't tried them so can't speak for their quality. The hubby and I decided to get some dinner here on a weeknight and got: Ultimate Roll - basically an omakase roll. The chef asks what you like and assembles something. I told him I was totally open and to make whatever. He asked if I liked eel (I do), and he came up with a roll with an eel base topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crunchy tempura bits, masago, and eel sauce, which I asked for light (I hate goopy rolls). I was very pleased with this roll--it had good quality fish as well as good sushi rice and was assembled with care. Veggie Roll - fresh avocado, cucumbers and carrots with the aforementioned good rice. Simple, but well done. These weren't cheap, but I'd say reasonable for the quality. I'm looking forward to trying more of their offerings soon, like their poke bowls! The hubby was hoping to try some of their other vegan sushi that looked interesting, but according to the chef they weren't doing very well so he's discontinued them--bummer! At least most of the standard vegetarian options are vegan anyway. As with Hip Pea, just the small outdoor tables if you want to eat there--not the best on cold days, so I imagine most people get stuff to go. The chef is very personable and really cares about the food and customer service. I wish him the best and hope this place will be able to stick around!

    HAWAIIAN ROLL

John makes one hell of a sushi roll & my favorite favorite favorite roll is the Hawaiian Roll. I highly recommend ordering it if you're here. Quality rolls & happy hour deals, add it to your bucketlist! Great energy! Outdoor dining area but it's cute & great for dates (hot tip for hot date: pair the meal with some wine from next door).

This is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots of all time. Super simple menu, super friendly staff, if you are looking for a legit sushi spot, look no further!

Delicious. Affordable. Fresh. Made with love. I needed a snack while I waited for the movie to start next door. Have been wanting to try RetRoll for quite sometime. I ordered the spicy tuna wrap, it was cut into pieces like a sushi roll, it was perfect & so yummy! I will be back to order a feast! Nice person helping at the window, awesome chef creating magic.

Got 6 rolls to eat at home and let me tell you it was 100/10 all of them were so good!! 100% recommend

We got 6 rolls to eat at home and we couldn't pick a favorite one because they were all so good. I will come back here every chance I can 100% recommend. I loved the details and presentation

The food was great! Service was outstanding and the prices are budget friendly, especially in the 2025 economy. Highly recommend a stop here if in Long Beach CA!

So glad to have a sushi spot on 4th street :) It's located next to the theatre & art du vin wine bar. I got the ultimate roll which is basically a roll they customize to your liking by asking what fish + sauces you like/don't like. I also got a spicy tuna roll which was tasty and classic. Everything was fresh & I waited about 10-15 minutes for everything to be ready. It's a walk up window so be prepared to eat it to-go! You can also get sake at Art du Vin next door to pair with your sushi.

CALIFORNIA ROLL, SEAWEED SALAD, CRAB SALAD

This is one of the best sushi spots in Long Beach. Amazing location near retro row and connected to the local movie theatre. The prices are a steal it was 12 bucks for all this high quality food! Please consider going here you will not regret it. It's so fresh and tasty.

SALMON AVO Bento, SPICY TUNA ROLL Bento

incredible food at an incredible price. my friend and i got two bento boxes to share. the salmon avocado roll and shrimp gyoza stood out--the gyoza in particular was some of my favorite i've ever had. the owner is also incredibly kind--i will absolutely be back next time i'm in LB! great music playing too.

Onion rings with the housemade ranch is fire too on the side. Had heard some good things about this spot so decided to stop by with the fam for a random dinner. It's a smaller hole-in-the-wall spot but with lots of open space so it doesn't feel too cramped. Parking isn't necessarily the easiest, but I didn't have to wait, just know most of the street parking is paid M-F between 10am-7pm. (1st 15 minutes is free though). This spot was the perfect blend of order/pay first for bomb food. Service was fast even though it was just one person manning both the cashier and service. Jackie was so great and had a great smile and was so nice to even my kids which was a big plus. I loved the food and it's not like typical "Texas BBQ" which I actually liked. The meat didn't feel overly saturated in fat or greasy but was still so tender. Maybe it's because I'm Asian, but "real" Texas BBQ joints or American BBQ spots tend to feel too heavy for me and I don't feel good after eating. This place wasn't different. The brisket could easily be cut with just a fork and that's solid for me. The gochujang pork belly was better than most KBBQ spots I've tried. and dare I say, I think they had the best tasting fries I've had... like it's hard to explain, but the slightest lemon pepper seasoning with the perfect crisp on outside to potato inside was just so on-point. I had to fight my kids over the last couple fries. Make sure to get the spicy and secret BBQ sauces they have in the center along with purple slaw and jalapeño sides. It complements the meat so nicely. Price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. All in all, everything is so well seasoned without feeling overly salty with great balance across their dishes. I'll definitely be back.

Smoky, sticky, caramelized to perfection, and layered with a depth of flavor that makes you stop mid-bite and reconsider every life decision that almost led you somewhere else for dinner. The sesame and green onion finish on top? Immaculate. Whoever developed this recipe deserves an award, a vacation, and a sincere apology for how hard I went at that plate. The brisket held its own admirably alongside what was essentially a showstopper. Rich, tender, and genuinely great -- Texas comparisons aside, this brisket doesn't need the validation. It stands on its own. The fries are not an afterthought here either -- crispy on the outside, perfectly soft inside, exactly what a good fry should be. The potato salad with that drizzle of sauce on top rounds the whole spread out beautifully. RibBro is the kind of spot Long Beach needed and absolutely deserves. Go immediately.

Thankfully, Sam and Clay were working again, along with some other very nice and accommodating team members. We decided to enjoy a bottle of wine and an appetizer, and as usual, everything was wonderful. What really stood out to us, though, was the genuine hospitality. When we finished, Sam took the time to give us some information about other establishments in the area that we might enjoy. We took her advice, checked a couple of them out, and had a great time. Eventually, we wandered back to George's for dinner and shared the chicken spinachi. Oh my... was it delicious! The salad, rice, pita, and tzatziki were also amazing. I just want to take a moment to say how impressed my wife and I were with Sam and Clay, who were working at the bar. They actually remembered us from our visit last month, which was our first time at this location. That may seem like a small thing, but to us it meant a lot. We were treated like family. Both Sam and Clay have such refreshing personalities, and their kindness and genuine hospitality really made our evening special. Thank you, Sam, Clay, and the entire team, for another awesome experience! If you haven't tried George's Greek Cafe, it's a must. When I walked in it was pretty quiet, but it was also right before dinner time. The place feels more like a casual deli spot -- you order at the counter and there are a few tables if you want to sit and eat. The space looked clean and simple, nothing fancy but comfortable enough. The employee working there was very friendly. He came out from the back, answered my questions, and recommended the chicken pesto panini, saying it's their most popular item. I also added a Caesar salad for $2.99, which I thought was a fair price, and decided to try the bread pudding as well. The panini itself was pretty good. The bread was nicely toasted, the cheese was melted well, and the pesto had good flavor. The only downside for me was the chicken -- it seemed like it might have been boiled and then mixed with pesto. It was a bit tougher than I would have liked. The Caesar salad was decent for the price. Unfortunately, the bread pudding didn't work for me. It was very dense and almost brick-like. Overall, the value is there and the staff was very nice. For me personally, the food felt a bit average. I tend to prefer paying a little more for higher quality rather than saving a few dollars on something that doesn't quite hit the mark. Because of that, I probably wouldn't go back, but others might appreciate the price point and friendly service. Food 3 stars. Staff 5 average 4
