This spot is offering drive thru as well as curbside pickup. Ordered At The Car Wash and Axel Grease Chicken fries. Have eaten other poutine style food nearby. This spot beats the other all. Not only has perfect quality of food, but reasonable price. Their grease chicken is creative, which offers a cheese burger flavor. Updated Review: The chicken lugnut sliders are as good, if not better than, the cheeseburger ones. Service was friendly. The portion of fries was huge! At first, I was disappointed because there were only a few small pieces of chicken on top of the bufffalo fries, but there was a very good amount of chicken hidden under the top layer. It was nice having the chicken last with the entire portion of fries. I hope this place succeeds so I am going to focus on the positives first. The lugnut sliders exceeded expectations and were really excellent. I also enjoyed my Butterfinger shake. We preordered online for a pick up order. We ordered sliders (the drop down menu offered 6 sliders with cheese) that is what we selected. An order of fries, and a milkshake with whipped cream ( costs extra). My husband went to pick up the food and when he came home we saw there were only 3 sliders. He called, and the woman said no problem, come back and we'll fulfill the rest of the order. When he got there, he was greeted by a different girl claiming to be the manager. She stated that we were wrong and it wasn't her fault we didn't know how to place an online order. She told him we ordered 3 sliders with 6 pieces of cheese. Okay, he asked if there was 6 pieces of cheese on the sliders. She said no, only 3. Also, the milkshake did not have whipped cream on it that we paid extra for. This all wouldn't have been a huge deal, IF the girl hadn't been so rude. I could hear her yelling at my husband through the phone and it wasn't even on speaker phone. She said if he wanted his $2 back so badly, to come on back (for a third time) I don't know who this girl is, but she shouldn't be in customer service. And she absolutely should not have a managerial role. He would have paid for the other 3 sliders if he had brought his wallet, but he didn't because he was told it was all set. The poutine is horrible. I don't think the person that makes the recipe has ever had proper Québécois poutine. Garlic parm fries disappointed as well. $8.50 fries made me think they'd be good. Not at all. Wings and chicken sandwich were okay. Drive through took just over 20 minutes. If you feel the need to check this place out, call and order ahead of time. Much better! I'll admit, when I first tried this fry shack upon opening I wasn't impressed. My fries at the time were bland ("axel dust" was missing). Then I kept seeing more and more posts on IG .. that looked so good. Had to give them another shot. I'm glad I did. Fries were crispy and delicious, even after all the toppings. I do suggest calling ahead or ordering online for drive thru pickup. Everything is made fresh to order, so expect to be sitting in the drive thru a bit if you don't order ahead. read more

Pretty much a weekly spot for me and my family. Today I had an All American Burger with Bacon. It was really good! Toasted bun, lettuce, onions, pickle, special sauce, bacon... was really yummy. Kids had sliders, and these are spot on and great every time we've had them. Smash slider chili is really good. Garlic parm wings are the best I've had, hands down. If your into hot wings and I mean hot! Give the Golden Rod wings a try. Great flavor and intense heat. Shakes!!! OMG the shakes are straight bomb. First time trying Axelrod's fry shack and will be the last time . Placed order online , arrived and one of my burgers were missing ( so had to wait while it was made ) Ordered 3 burgers that were very over cooked with bacon that was more like jerky , chicken tenders that were very over cooked ( if you want sauce it's an extra charge and tastes like something poured out of a jar ) and fries that were just soft and like mushy . So basically 50 bucks for gross food . Save your self the trip and go to smash burger at least it's worth the money or even Burger King and it'd prob be cheaper read more

Went here as part of the RI Food Fights Wings month. Was a bit apprehensive at first since it was drive-thru/pick-up only; however, the drive-thru attendant sounded friendly, so the apprehension went away. Got the wings with Goldenrod sauce and 3 deluxe sliders. This place surprised me in a very good way. It lacks any pretension whatsoever. Nothing I had tasted frozen or fake. Compared to other slider places found in Providence, I like Axelrod's more. The food is decently priced; you get a good amount for your buck, and it tastes great. The wings were prepared pretty simply; Axelrod's says they brine their wings and then fry them, and they were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Goldenrod sauce was extremely good; hotter than expected, but packed with all the right flavors. A friend got the Thai chili wings and those also tasted very good. The sliders were presented in a slightly odd way, but after taking a bite, I didn't really care. I couldn't really taste the pickles and onions that came with the deluxe slider, but the special sauce was very good and the overall taste of the sliders was great. Despite being a fried food shack, nothing tasted greasy. While I didn't try any actual fries at this Fry Shack, what I did have makes me want to go back. Their sauce game is on point. Sooooo good!! Honestly, I was a little hesitant when I saw the two 1-star reviews for this place. But it's close to home and we didn't feel like cooking so we decided to give it a try. We had the poutine, chili cheese fries, hot rod sliders, and a kids chicken tender meal. Everything was amazing! Seriously, the sliders were probably the best I've had. Ever. Delicious handmade slider patty, nice thick pickle chip, and a roll that looked and tasted like it had been baked fresh that day. I'm trying to lose weight and knowing that these delicious baby burgers are so conveniently located is not going to help the cause! All the fries were perfectly cooked and golden brown with just the right amount of crunch. My husband is Canadian so I was expecting him to moan and groan about the inauthenticity of American poutine but to my surprise, he LOVED it! Finally, poutine that's not trying to be some pretentious gourmet meal, just quality ingredients to make a simple masterpiece of fries, gravy, and cheese curds. My one criticism is that the poutine was a little light on cheese curds but overall it was fantastic! The kid's tender meal was huge so now I don't have to cook tomorrow either. OMG wow! Hello amazing cheese sauce! I ordered the bacon cheese fries. Places that use the liquid gold will only pour it on top of the fries. Not here! Seems as though 1/2 the fries were put in the container, covered with shredded cheese and gold then the rest of the fries added and those were then covered in gold and bacon. Perfect. My only gripe, I don't feel there is a need for the parchment paper for the fries, it just gets wet and rips. The Hot Rod Deluxe Sliders were amazing. Love how the bun isn't toasted. Just wow. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, love to support small businesses. Unfortunately, I won't be back. The wait time was unnecessarily long (over 20 minutes in a DT for one shake and fries) and the price was astronomical, especially for what I received! I ordered the fries with the sour cream, bacon, cheese, and chives. The amount of each ingredient was almost humorous, and if that's your brand... then so be it. But the prices DO not reflect that. They are everyday generic frozen fries with toppings, nothing fancy. But it was $10.91 just for the fries! We have ordered from Axelrods several times. The sliders and fried are always great. On Superbowl Sunday we ordered a Wing Platter (Buffalo, Garlic/Parm, and Thai Chili) along with fried. Again, the food was great, among the best wings I have had. Even more important, the staff is always fantastic, caring, and very service oriented. Ok, so my husband and I usually love Axelrod's. Their sliders don't come with pickles, but if you get pickles on them, in my opinion, they're perfect. Their fruit pebbles shake is also amazing and their poutine is pretty good, although they're a bit stingy with the gravy. I'm leaving this review mostly to warn the world - DO NOT get the French fry sundae. In theory, fries dipped in milkshakes is great, why not make it a sundae? Because the ice cream will make the fries cold and the hot fries will melt the ice cream and then the melting ice cream trickling down the pile of fries will create a salty, inedible soup at the bottom. Also, for some reason, the cherry tasted like onions or pickles or something. Eat here, but get a milkshake instead. read more

The prices are pretty outrageous for what it is. I really can't justify paying more than a dollar for sliders. (6 for 7.99, should be 5.99) The patties on the sliders are about half the size of the bun. The portion of fries is a joke; a small fry just barely covers the bottom of a paper bag. read more

Axelrods fries.. Save your money. We ordered the "THE IROC" fries. Was suppose to be garlic and parmesan. Soggy..in my opinion not cooked nearly long enough. Where's the parm? A handful of fries at best. No salt..ketchup..nothing. We drove back around the building, to the drive thru and asked for salt. Took forever. They gave us something resembling salt, with little black things scattered thru it. Salted our fries but it did nothing. I dont what it was. Took the girl at the window 5 minutes to get it. So.. Arrived there at 815. A young man came out and put a cone behind my car to signal they would be closing. My grandson loves the shakes. While the shakes are pricey, 7 and change, he loves them and he is the love of my life so I waited in line. At 845, the same young man that placed cone behind my car, now comes to my window to tell me they are no longer serving. I know they are extremely slow normally,15 min for just a shake. To let myself and someone in front of me wait in line for 1/2 hour only to be told sorry is unacceptable. Not only that, he neglected to remove the cone from behind my truck and there is no way to pull forward. Thankfully, another patron saw it and stopped me from running it over. Shame on me for giving the kid credit for having a brain. For me to have seen cone I would have had to get out go behind truck at which time I would've seen cone and yes, remove it myself. Suggestion, knowing how slow the service is, maybe you should block entrance at 8 so your employees can get orders out. You need more people ( preferably a bit older.) your young staff is usually miserable or clueless), a bigger place to hold more employees to decrease wait times.. Drive through is not good as orders take way too long and once inline, you're trapped.. Good concept, poorly executed. One more thing, in reading reviews, owner should brush up on his responses. Too call someone crazy, is not very smart on open forums. Word of mouth travels and will eventually catch up with you. Address your issues before you have none to address. read more
