I ordered the mapo tofu, and it was the largest portion I've ever seen! It seriously lasted me 3 full meals. The tofu also comes with beef so keep that in mind if you're a vegetarian. The flavor is on point and spicy, and it went well with some white rice. My bf got the black pepper chicken and said it was pretty good. I had a bite, and it was decent. Neither dish came with rice, which is odd for a Chinese restaurant. We ordered a side of white rice for $2. Not a big deal but usually these dishes come with rice. Genuinely surprised by how tasty the food was! We passed by this restaurant and saw no line in the late afternoon so we decided to eat here on a whim! We weren't expecting the food to be that good! The service started very strong, but once the dinner rush came, the service started lacking. It was difficult to flag down servers, they didn't check on us much, and there were time we were just waiting around waiting for our server to fill our waters or give us the check, etc. I think the restaurant just got busy and there weren't enough servers. We tried a variety of things like orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and a bunch of dumplings and xiao long baos. And everything was really good, like surprisingly good! It was so good I had a hard time stopping haha For dessert, we got the chocolate xlbs, which were good (but not as good as din tai fungs). Took my Sunday evening order of the pan fried beef buns, orange chicken and yang chow fried noodles to go, and everything held up beautifully, even with the 405 lane closure traffic (meaning it took me extra long to get home) The pan fried beef buns were may favorite. Crispy with the pan fried bottom, soft on the top, with a decent amount of soup in the bun. Got a few good squirts. Throw in the chili crisp and a I give it a 9/10. The orange chicken was my runner up. Not a saucy orange chicken, more of a crispy orange chicken, with a bit of sauce at the bottom for you to dig up if you like. The orange flavor was not very prominent, more of just a crispy chicken dish, but I still very much enjoyed it. 8/10 The noodles were pretty basic. Two shrimp, a few pieces of beef, some chicken buried in the noods. Definitely could have used some more of the premium ingredients. Fulfilled my desire for noodles. 7/10 Staff was great. Everyone was working hard. Complimentary water while I waited at the bar for my food. Restaurant was not super packed on a Sunday at 4:30pm, so I hope they have busier times to keep them around. Cute little place with a GREAT server. She was so cute and nice and everything came out super quickly. The broccoli was amazing, salty and garlicky in the perfect way. The chicken xiao long bao was okay, my friend let me know that California doesn't really do pork all that much so I knew it wasn't going to have the same depth of flavor but it wasn't bad for being chicken! Super Dumpling was such a great find. My office is in Culver City, and I remember seeing this place pop up on Yelp before they even had their sign up. A coworker and I tried to find it one day, walked all around the mall, couldn't locate it, and eventually gave up and ate at the food court instead. On my next trip back, though, a friend and I came here after work (and after working out), and I'm so glad we did. The experience was genuinely delightful. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately sets the tone. What really makes this place special is that they offer halal soup dumplings and mapo tofu. I don't personally have strict dietary restrictions, but it's really meaningful to be able to enjoy some of my favorite foods with friends who do. That kind of inclusivity is rare and appreciated. My friend and I were headed from the Valley to the Forum for a concert and we were looking for a place to grab dinner ahead of time. We ended up deciding on Super Dumpling based on location and cuisine. The restaurant is located at the northwest side of the Westfield Culver City Mall. Although there is outdoor parking on that side, it was impossible to find a space and there were many cars looking. We ended up parking closer to where the Trader Joe's is located. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted right away and seated immediately. Everyone working was very friendly and ensured that we were taken care of during the visit. Service was top-notch. The dining area was clean and relaxing. We ordered three dim sum items and shrimp fried noodles. Everything came out quickly, with the noodles being first. Overall they were fine, but a bit saltier than I prefer. The Xiao Long Bao was my favorite of the items we ordered, with the beef and potato steamed dumplings being my least favorite. If half portions were offered during dinner time, we'd have loved to have tried more items. I asked for some hot mustard, but they did not have any. I thought that it was odd that a restaurant serving Chinese cuisine would not have hot mustard. Do note that although the attributes list happy hour and full bar, there is no alcohol served. This place has become part of my routine. I'll go to the mall to charge my car, and I often end up here! I used to drive all the way out to the San Gabriel Valley when I was craving dumplings or dim sum, and now I don't. The dumplings are authentic Chinese style. The staff is REALLY nice. Very happy I came across this delicious dumpling restaurant today. The staff was super friendly and attentive and the food came out really fast, although the place was not that full. My favorite: the spicy chicken wontons. The sauce is sweet and umami and full of flavor and the wonton is cooked really nicely. I recommend saving that sauce to dip the buns in it. The honey walnut shrimp is also a favorite. Very original and goes really well with the walnut. The Xiao Long Bao is pretty good. The skin is on the thicker side and they might not look the most uniform but they are delicious and filled with plenty of soup. The crab and beef was the best. The chocolate XLB is sooo good. It's made with milk chocolate so for my taste I enjoyed it more than Din Tai Fung. A sugary chocolate bomb explosion in your mouth and it comes with six of them :) The orange chicken was also quite good, sweet with a present ginger taste and a nice tang along with a slight kick of spice. The beef steamed dumpling is the only dish I didn't love, wouldn't recommend, it's not bad but just not as flavorful as the other dishes and nothing stands out. Not worth getting full on that one. I really enjoyed their chili oil and another great highlight was the lychee soda. I saw them make it at the bar and I don't know how they did it but I really enjoyed it. decent xlb, for the westside! this place is halal, so you won't find the traditional pork xlb, only chicken and beef/crab. it's a bit inconvenient for those with sensitivities to crab but also not wanting to eat chicken. i liked that the xlb was very juicy, and though the skin was a bit thicker than i like, it managed to keep all the liquid intact. the spicy chili chicken wontons were nothing special, the sauce did not adhere to the dumplings and it was a pretty lacking flavor sauce. usually they have sacha (satay) sauce here but this was just pretty basic. the beef roll was pretty good, but it barely had any meat and had iceberg lettuce instead of cilantro..? and it didn't really have the hoisin sauce as much that is typical of this dish. we also got the chocolate xlb for dessert, and it was so delicious and not too sweet. this place is in the culver city mall. the ambiance is meh, the seats are pretty worn out and crackle like alligator skin. for all the food, bill came out to 60 :( food is generally expensive nowadays so i get it. i would rather drive out to the san gabriel valley for XLB than go here again. read more
