We went for dinner on a Monday night. The place was fairly small and definitely hot. They tried to keep it cool with some fans, not so successfully. The staff was very friendly. Three of us got the Azama combo, one with beef and two with chicken and one of us got the grape leaves plate. There was a lot of food for a really great price! The combo had the most moist falafel I've ever eaten and the flavors were spot on. The tabouli had a little too much parsley for my taste. The Egyptian salad or cucumbers, carrots and mintt was fresh and delicious. The shwarma is very different from other shawarma with lots of onions and spices. It is very flavorful! The hummus and baba ghanoush were also delicious. The shwarma was definitely the star for me. I also really liked their hot sauce. We had to ask for more pita 3 times I think. However, I had enough food for two meals. Next time I definitely want to try a rollup. The grape leaves were plump and flavorful if a little bit oily. I'd definitely recommend it. Our Egyptian friend who came with said it was like the food at home. I especially like that it's open until 3 am. read more

It's quick, tasty and cheap. This is one of my favorite spots in Allston. Their roll ups are amazing and huge, they also don't fall apart easily which you would know is a pain if you ate many falafels haha. They're open late and great for pick up I wouldn't recommend sitting there as it does get pretty crowded during peak hours. Amazing choices for vegetarians as well. read more

Azama grill was great! The food was excellent and the service that they provided was great. You could see that they were really trying to make every customer feel special. Their falafels are special. The veggie dishes were very good- would highly recommend foul mudammes. They had run out of the lentil soup though which was a pity- well we will definitely be back soon to try it out. The chicken shawarma was very fresh and served with a lot of green salad (just the way we like it). It was reassuring to know that they are not new to the restaurant business since they own more grills back in Egypt. Try it out and you may stop going to shawarma king. read more

Being from Detroit, I'm very spoiled when it comes to middle eastern food. The pros of this place definitely outweighed the cons. Most importantly, the food here is cheap and the portions were generous. I got a lamb kabob wrap and my bf got the chicken shawarma wrap, and an order of hummus. This cost less than $20 and was way too much food to eat in one sitting. The gentleman running the place (I think his name was Emanuel) was very friendly. It was a bit of a wait for the food, which is good because it means it was made to order, not chucked on your plate from a steam table full of dried out crap. Accordingly, the chicken shawarma was moist and flavorful, and my lamb was cooked just right. A welcome change: 100% of the shawarma I've had in boston has been pathetically dry. The Hummus was very unique--it had a really nutty flavor that was delicious--perhaps a family recipe. The chickpeas were not shelled when making it, so it didn't have that super smooth texture I prefer...but since NO hummus in boston is like this, I'd have to say it's my favorite so far. Also, the business hours of this place are outstanding! The cons: We ate our food there, and while Emanuel was super friendly, the dining room was FREEZING! And there is no music...Emanuel is a great whistler but when I eat middle eastern food I'd rather hear some old school Amr Diab ;) My only actual complaint about the food itself is that the lamb was cut into chunks that were too big for a sandwich and it was difficult to eat, but that being said, it's probably why it was not overcooked. So really it's the lesser of two evils. I'd definitely order food from here again, but I'd try delivery since Emanuel says they deliver to central square! read more

Hands down my favorite place to eat in boston. Awesome shawarma, falafel, humus, etc. Staff is very passionate about sharing their cultural cusine--was there with some friends and they asked us if we liked eggplant. We said no, and they said well you gotta try this spicy baba ganoush anyhow and gave us a sampler of it while they prepared our orders. It was, of course, delicious, and made an excellent appetizer as well. Very glad to have tried it. I've brought a few friends there who wouldn't normally eat adventurously and have made converts of them all. Don't forget to bring home some baklava! read more

I used to be a huge fan of this place for the quality and quality of food they used to offer. BUT NOW its all going to drain, No taste, no proper hygiene and Prices jacked up for no reason. I order lamb shawarma plate and to my surprise the LAMB was all hard and dry, the food was bland and the pots where the salad and toppings were placed looked unhygienic and slimy. The decor of the place itself is not well kept. They installed 3 TV screens for displaying their menu which makes no sense to me. why would you invest in something so trivial, rather bump the quality of food or enhance the eating experience . I also took a chicken plate from the chicken and rice guys to compare side by side although its chicken vs lamb but trust me chicken rice guys and lemon garlic are better . never going to Azma again. I was just so super super excited to see a Middle Eastern restaurant in Allston again, and I could't wait to try it... and I finally got my chance. I love nothing more in life than a good hummus and tabouli wrap (spell those as you may) and theirs was very good and at a ridiculously good price. The workers are very friendly, and the service is very fast. So far I've had 2 hummus/tabouli wraps, and the second one I complimented with a side of grape leaves, which were also delish. I don't eat meat, so I can't comment on that, but I'm just so super pleased to have a really good Middle Eastern restaurant nearby!! Please everyone go to it!! read more

Went to the Azama Grille the other night after reading about it in the Globe. We got there early since it's a small place and were able to choose any seat at the L shaped counter. The people there are warm, friendly,and . very hospitable. The food was very tasty. I had the veggie combo platter and my wife had the fish kabob. The latter was a bit of a misnomer as it was a fillet of salmon, rather than grilled pieces in pita, but it was grilled well and tasty. The veggie combo was excellent. All the food was reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back and try some more. read more

I went to this restaurant on Sunday with my husband. I really liked the service. The staff were very friendly. I also thought the food was very well prices especially the hummus and baba ghanouj compared to any other restaurant. I used to eat at SHawarma KIng but as a vegetarian I can not justify eating a mezze plate with falafel for $ 11. I prefer the Azama Grill one for half the price. I'm so glad this restaurant opened up. It's healthy, and delicious. read more

So, just a warning, tonight all I had was the chicken shwarma wrap. After seeing this nice little grill a few times, I had free time and decided to stop in. I asked for a shwarma wrap, one of my favorite Arab foods. It was ready pretty fast and the service was friendly and cool (even though I was being a d-bag on my phone half-way through the order.) Anyway, I got it, took a bite, and it was good, not great. Honestly I've had better, but the places that I used to frequent are no longer there. I WILL go back and try some other dishes and update my review. On a plus side, they are open til 3AM EVERYDAY and deliver. Also, all their food is halal (aka kosher.) my girlfriend and I have been getting falafel all around the brighton allston brookline area. I'd say we have pretty high standards for a good falafel. Id say azama really beats them all! Things I take into account...cant be dry, small (who wants a tiny little roll up?) and flavor. Get azama's falafel roll up with hummus and their house made hot sauce..cant go wrong. Their hot sauce alone keeps me coming back...its amazing. Plus they are super nice guys. I just got my wisdom teeth out and the dude suggested grape leaves as a nice and soft meal...they were delicious and he got me a cup of warm water and salt so I could wash out my wounds after I ate...how cool is that.?! read more
