After visiting Aztec Burgers for dinner, I have now placed them as one of my most favorite burger joints in the Las Vegas area. It's located in Henderson and is a local restaurant. My choice was the BBQ Smash Burger with bacon, BBQ Sauce and fried onion rings and it exceeded my expectations in every way! The burger had so much flavor! The meat was very juicy and seasoned perfect, the BBQ sauce added just enough sweet and smokiness, and the crispy, salty bacon made this a truly an amazing burger! The onion rings were nearly as impressive as the burger itself! The breading was a perfect golden brown and very crunchy without feeling too greasy. The portions were large! Each bite was full of flavor and light enough to make it easy to not think about how many onion rings I was actually eating! I would say the combination of the burger and onion rings made this one of my better burgers that I have eaten in a while! What I liked as much about Aztec Burgers was how inexpensive the burgers are! It was both an extremely satisfying meal, as well as very cheap when compared to other restaurants with similar offerings in this area. The flavor, the size of the portions, and the price were all factors that contributed to such an amazing evening at Aztec Burgers! Aztec Burgers is one of those places I will definitely return to. The ambiance is pretty standard, but the restaurant felt clean and expectations of ambiance are not usually on the menu for a local burger joint. Old-school RTS fans, the burger scene finally finished teching. Aztec Burgers is a new Henderson fast casual spot that took over what used to be another burger joint, Fat Boy. Located in a strip mall off Horizon Ridge, they usually if not always have enough parking, and they weren't busy at all when I stopped in for Saturday lunch. I've been getting into the smashburger trend lately, and their menu displayed some "new product" options. I chose the Half & Half Smashed ($13.00), which is half and half chorizo and angus. Both patties were smashed and had decent crispiness. I was really impressed with the blend of grease, chipotle spread, and caramelized onions providing a rich but balanced flavor that never grew tiresome. The pepper jack and muenster cheeses were gooey and ooey, whatever that is. The sliced jalapeños were actually seeded or at least quite mild, so I got some bites of crunch and freshness without burning my palate at all. The potato bun was soft and held everything together the entire time. Overall, a shockingly great smash burger, and my favorite at this point. They included fries in the price. They were pretty good, and perhaps they're the same thing that Fat Boy served in their last year or so of operation here. They're moderately thick and mostly crispy, but they did run a tad salty today. At best they didn't really add much to my chosen burger, so I just snacked on it on the side with ketchup. This is a counter-service restaurant. You can get a cup for water for free, and the water is actually obtained from the tea dispenser. I am very interested in trying Aztec Burger's other smash burgers now. Onion rings were good but not amazing. The batter is a little thick and tough. I'd prefer the batter a bit lighter and crisp. When we arrived it wasn't super busy, two other parties were eating but that took up most of the seating so we were fortunate to get that last table. The order taker was friendly and patient while we looked over the menu. I opted for the Mushroom Swiss Burger $12 or $13 with onion rings. It's a slight upgrade in price from French Fries which are included in burgers and sandwiches. We also decided on their Smashburger with fries, $12. The wait for the order was reasonable; a sign lets you know all burgers are fresh and made to order. Everything was delicious and we will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. Not as abig a burger as a Fat Boy boyger but still fair size. Every burger here at Aztec comes with fries. Natural cut (skins on) and the perfect size cut for me. Somewhere between shoelace and steak cut. They were a couple of minutes over cooked for my liking but not burnt. Just more crispy than I go for. I like a softer fry. These came pre-seasoned with seasoning salt. Some a little more than others. Not bad but I'd like to try another side next time for a small upcharge. Service here was not bad. The food was good. On this visit they had 2 TVs showing the Raiders game. The volume on that could be turned down. I found it hard to hear the guy taking my order as all I could hear was the announcers and crowd on TV.
