I am really impressed with this place (and as a SoCal native I am picky about my Mexican food). The food is fresh and flavorful. I ordered two dinners and dessert to go, and waited at the bar with an old fashioned and free chips and salsa. A few highlights--1: the portion sizes are HUGE and my one meal became two, which was awesome because it was delicious. 2: really generous Vegetarian offerings and notes about which rices and beans are free from animal-products... THANK YOU!!!! 3: do you make your salsa in house, because it is ADDICTIVE... I seriously couldn't stop shovelling it into my face and was sad when it was gone. Still sad about that. I come from Arizona where great Mexican food is readily available 24/7 at an affordable cost. I knew moving to Silverdale, Washington that my options for authentic Mexican food would be few and far in between. After scouring the Azteca menu for my usual favorites, I settled for the tamale and the chimichanga. Despite the tamale being covered in some odd green sauce and topping my chimi with guac and sour cream, both were bone dry. At one point in my tamale, there was a side near the end that was HARD and crunchy. The chicken filling in both was also dry with zero flavor. I couldn't finish my meal. My meal was incredibly underwhelming and was disappointing given my $20 price point for both items. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants to eat good Mexican food. The only good that came from this experience is that the food was brought out in a timely manner. read more

This place is overpriced. We stopped in for lunch to go. I said I was getting 2 burritos and a side of guacamole. Total came up to $29. When we arrived home, there was 1 burrito. When I called, they said the burrito was $23. Burrito was not worth that and the guacamole was not worth $6. They do not give refunds. If you go, find out the price before you buy. BEWARE - went to the restaurant last night and ordered a pomegranate margarita and fried ice cream. When I received my check I was charged $13.50 for the margarita and $7.75 for the ice cream. The prices on the menu were $10 and $7.50. Mentioned it to the waiter as we were walking out and he didn't even turn around to acknowledge. If prices have increased, they need to update their menus to reflect the price increase. I do not recommend going here unless you verify the price of every item when ordering. read more

I'm a fan of the restaurant. I've been visiting here many times over the past couple decades. They've been kind and ready to feed us well. It's a family feel and they treat my family as family too. This is not the Azteca I remember. A sad hallmark, perhaps. The molcahete, for one, is family sized and served with three micro corn tortillas, a vate of beans and rice, and no spare plate for assembly. But actually, the one star goes to the cleanliness of their bathroom situation. No soap or towels in the poorly maintained restroom. read more

We get Azteca regularly, on take-out and ordering and service are a breeze. We ususally get the taquitoes -- Yummy! Appreciate the generous helpings of sour cream and Guac that come with the order. Note for management: for a double order it would be nice if we could get two bags of chips and three salsas, there just isn't usually enough to go around and someone always ends up going without. Seated in a spot that wasn't even wiped down (they just barely grabbed the check of the previous diners) ignored for 20 minutes finally someone comes by and gives us chips salsa water and menus after we flagged them down and asked . We attempt to place an order for the taco special and the person helping us didn't know the special was going on or anything about items on the menu. Our food came 35 mins later and when it was happy hour we were told that it wasn't and we tried to order queso but he said it would be full priced and continued to argue about it for a minute or more, then he asks what time it is and realizes it is happy hour. We got the queso 25 mins after we were done with the food and by this time it was 8:30 pm and I asked if we could just take it home because the menu said that you can't get boxes at happy hour and they have to go ask the manager. Aside from it being so late..we get the queso and it was completely COLD!! (I've ordered it many times then it's supposed to be hot.) We came in because of a text message about taco Tuesday deal that said there were $1 tacos and $4 Margaritas And $3.50 well drinks from 3 p.m. to close, and our waiter told us that deal wasn't available-- even though we showed him the text message we received (which was the whole reason we came in at all). He disappeared for another 10 minutes to ask about that and came back saying it was fine, as if it was an inconvenience. The service tonight was terrible. Nobody looked at us when they walked by and we had to ask for more chips because we were so hungry, waited a really long time for food and the food was cold. Since they "honored the margarita deal" my first Margarita was fine and it had alcohol in it the second Margarita was pure sugar it tasted just like liquid cane sugar (and I actually watched the batender make it and not put any alcohol in it)-- there was definitely no alcohol in it. I sent it back because I did not want it and didn't want to pay for a drink that didn't have tequila in it, and I was still charged even though another waitress said she would see what she could do about getting it taken off. This was the worst dining experience I've had in a while. What happened? Did they change management or lose their best employees. We used to love it here. The last time I got take out it was cold too but I usually don't write a review like this until I have more than one bad experience. This place has definitely gone downhill in the past few months I used to go here so often that I have earned the free meal almost twice now. This spot served to go meals all throughout the pandemic closures. They have always been the most polite of people. But today took the cake. Our waitress Maria was amazing. There was a very very very rude old man seated behind us. Not once did he make one polite comment to her or his dining partner. Went in for an afternoon lunch. The chips were nice and warm and I love that they give you an order of beans with your chips, it's that extra little touch that makes it so nice. Okay folks, this is an update to my previous post. My love and I we ate at the azteca restaurant a couple of days ago, and we ordered appetizers super nachos and quesadillas. Had no problem with the quesadillas, they were very good and they went down quickly. However, the super nachos were covered with I don't know a pound and a half or two pounds of cheese. No I like cheese just as much as the rest of you fine folks out there (especially you find folks who are reading my reviews), but too much cheese is just too much cheese! So, if you're going to order the super nachos whether it's an appetizer or just your main entree, tell the waitress to go easy on the cheese cuz it ain't easy being cheesy! read more

I started the New Year right by discovering this amazing restaurant! We were seated immediately, within seconds we had salsa, bean dip and chips on our table. The chips were so fresh they were still warm, the bean dip was great and I just fell in love with the salsa with its unique flavor. The food is tasty and plentiful and the service is always great! The servings are large enough that two adults can share - if you're not starving, that is. The floor layout is kind of awkward as you make your way to the back and the chips & salsa are average on the good side. Went here with my husband and a few other couples from our boat for a night out several months back. They have great margaritas, and the service was good, I'll give them that; and my cheese enchiladas with green sauce wasn't bad either but I've had better. My wife and I have been going here for a long time but this was our first visit in about two years. Things didn't start out well when we entered the restaurant and stood at the reception desk with the "Please Wait To Be Seated" sign and there was no one to seat us. There was one waitress finishing up taking an order at a nearby table. Just about all the tables that we could see were empty. Was she the only server on duty, also doing double duty as hostess? I stood in the entry to the dining room and when she looked at me I told her there was no one up front to seat us. After she finished taking our order she quickly went to the desk to pick up two menus and then seated us at the first table in the room. While looking at our menu I saw a middle-aged man in a long-sleeved pinstripe shirt (who didn't look like a waiter) bring an order to another table. So it looked like the place was really short on help. But shortly after our real waiter stopped by our table to ask about drinks and he turned out to be very, very nice. One of the most pleasant servers we've had anywhere. Then after he showed up other servers started to appear at other tables. I then saw pinstriped shirt man and one of the waitresses walking customers to table. I forgot that on previous visits I'd noticed the kitchen tended to get backed up and then sent a bunch of orders out at once. So that's where the servers had been but it didn't excuse that front desk being unmanned. And now to the food. My wife had a dish she's had before, the Chicken Taquito Combo. I tried one I hadn't had before but had made at home, Tacos Al Pastor. Both dishes were very tasty. I would've liked a bit more cubed pork in my tacos, though. the servings were a bit stingy. Also, the rice and refried beans both tasted bland due to lack of seasoning. There are some restaurants where these side dishes shine, but not here. Overall, Azteca is a good choice for Mexican food. Here, the chips, salsa and bean dip are still free and refillable. So are the soft drinks. We'll be back again. read more

Plenty of parking. Staff was really friendly. We came during the week so there wasn't a wait time. Not much of a beer selection... just a few Mexican beers and a few traditional US beers. We didn't wait long to receive our food. The plates are huge! We could have probably shared a plate if we knew the plates would be that big. The food was good: beans were good, cheese enchilada was cheesy and the rice was fine. The chile relleno was puffed up but was good. I tested my wife's horchata and it was good, nothing special, basically what an horchata should taste like. The place is good overall. read more

Sigh. I haven't been here in over a year, but after eating at a bad Mexican restaurant in Hawaii I suddenly remembered this place during the time I lived in Silverdale. Being a Southern Californian, I have to search for good Mexican food in whatever city I live in or else I will die. (No reason to live.) It's not like Azteca has amazing food, or authenticity or any unique qualities oozes from the walls. On the contrary, I love this place because it is exactly one of those "Mexican themed" American restaurants with red white and green paint trimming the walls, sombrero decorations, Mexican greeters giving you big smiles and yelling "Buenos dias, senor! Como esta?" And there's a waiter who I really liked because he called my husband "hermano" and me "senorita" with a wink. Don't underestimate the wink. I remember having a really good time, inhaling my food and still having tons of food left over, enjoying the frequent waiter check ins which is normally something I could really care less about. I really don't understand why or how, but somehow this place just works. read more

First time at an Azteca. This location has ample parking. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and was seated immediately. I scanned the restaurant on the way to our table and it was very busy FYI. The restaurant appears very clean, I didn't notice any dirty unbussed tables. Our booth was very clean, no food remnants on the seats! We were greeted immediately by our waiter who took our took our drink order, as we perused the expansive menu. The menu is very detailed explaining meals in detail. Chips and dip are first up and complementary. We ordered combo plates, which I could not completely finish. We all took a doggy bag home. If you enjoy Mexican food I urge you to check this place out. My last two recent visit here was a bad experience. I ordered my usual one which is the chicken Fajitas. In the middle of almost finishing my food, i found melted plastic which i thought was a cheese... I told our server about it and he offered to change my food which is nice but i felt disgusted because I only saw it when i was almost done eating it. I got my meal for free but still. The very recent one was last friday Feb 28 2020. We got to the restaurant at 9:30 and got seated right away. There were only 2 tables occupied when we got there. One table had a party of 6 and the other party had a party of 3 (their order came in when we got seated). The person who gave us water was I think the owner/manager(guy with glasses). He was very nice but our server on the other hand only showed up after 10mins. She was rushing after she took our order so we didn't get to tell her to refill our chips and bean dip. She never checked on us, barely asked what we need, never refilled our drink. I understand that there is a party of 6 but we are also their customers. We felt neglected. Our order didn't arrive until after 40mins. We even had to look for someone just to ask for our bill.. What a disappointment. The food was good that's why we went back but other than that, it will probably take a long time again to go back and eat at this place. read more

I'm from Texas and now living in Washington state has really made me miss my old hangouts for mexican food. My husband and I tried Los Cabos in North Bend, but were NOT, I repeat, NOT impressed at all. We found Azteca on Bainbridge Island and saw it had decent reviews. Since we had been craving Mexican for weeks, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the queso - which was a blend of multiple cheeses and spinach and served piping hot. YUM. I order the steak fajita quesadilla - absolutely delicious! It was more than just the meat and cheese - there were onions and peppers, too, very tasty. My husband ordered the carne asada and said it was great, too - came with beans, rice, and tortillas. The salsa that came out with the chips initially was OK - nothing to write home about, but not bad. Everything else was great. Oh, and they have Dr Pepper on the fountain! (Remember, I'm from Texas!) I'd say the pricing is higher than I'd like, but the customer service is by far a 10. I always enjoy my time and can rarely finish my plate because it's very filling. We spent $60 here and regret all of it. We got queso dip, chicken taquitos, enchiladas, and a chimichanga and a tamale. It was all super bland and we couldn't eat through any of it. We took some of the chicken out of the taquitos and gave it to our dog. Otherwise we threw out about $30 worth of food. I understand that there are certain struggles with covid but it shouldn't affect the taste of the food. Now after spending all this money on dinner I still have to cook something. read more
