Its a cheap dive bar that has a great patio in the back with slave quarters overlooking a stage where some of the best bands in town stop by to play, most times without a cover. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after my experience here, I felt it was important to share it. On my first visit, I sat at the bar and was served by a slim blonde bartender. She was friendly and personable, so I initially thought I had found a nice local spot. Unfortunately, things quickly became confusing when it was time to pay. I was charged $12 for my drink and $3 for chips. A little while later, my husband arrived and met me after I stepped out into the courtyard. He ordered the exact same drink and was charged only $8, and his chips were just $1. Since this is a cash-only establishment, there was no receipt to explain the difference, which made the situation even more frustrating. Whether it was an honest mistake or something else, customers deserve consistent pricing and transparency. Charging different customers different prices for what appears to be the same order is not acceptable. I decided to give the place another chance and returned the following day. During my visit, I observed the same bartender going in and out of the restroom with a man while she was working. Regardless of the circumstances, it did not come across as professional and made me uncomfortable as a customer. I wanted to like this place because New Orleans has so many great neighborhood dive bars with character, but this one was a disappointment. Between the inconsistent pricing, the lack of transparency in a cash-only business, and the unprofessional atmosphere I experienced, I left feeling like I couldn't trust the establishment. Management should take these concerns seriously, review the pricing practices, and ensure employees are maintaining professional standards while on the clock. Based on my personal experience, I will not be returning if the same bartender is working. I hope these issues are addressed so future customers have a better experience than I did. read more

We've been here before and all was fine. Quiet place with good people. We love dive bars, and we hope this is a one off situation, but we were served a drink with a bug crawling on the top. Wow, just had one of the best crawford boils I've ever had (see my pic)! Nice and spicy. They usually make a boil once a week. Great atmosphere here always a warm welcome. Things are getting back into swing again which I so good to see. Drinks are nice and strong but makes for a great conversations to linger to out in the courtyard. Local bands and musicians are always performing in the courtyard to really set things off. Definately come on down and check out B Mac's for a great night out. I will come here just for the outdoor patio. It was nice to be able to hang out with friends in the outdoors. Okay, I guess I should add that this is a late write up so really, I went before we were not allowed in (Mardi Gras 2020). The main reason for losing a star was because service was a tad slow. I expected to be slower considering there were a lot of peeps but during Mardi Gras, I would think there would be more bartenders. I only drank beer while here. Best dive bar in the french quarter. Great way to step off bourbon street and get away from the morons. Go here as long as you're not a moron. The bartenders will check you, because they don't give a f*ck. That's the best thing about them. Cheap drinks, old school juke box, killer back patio area. Oh one thing, be careful leaving here late if you're by yourself, because there is a big group of crackhead scam artists and muggers who hang out a block up the street lakeside. This is a great little dive bar in the heart of the French Quarter. All the locals come here and know the owner Brenda. I met up with some of friends here who are local to watch the Saints game on Sunday. They have a cute little courtyard with socially distanced seating at tv's so fans can watch the game in a friendly, safe setting. It was nice to watch the game with fellow Saints fans. It makes it even more enjoyable. I love that this place is dog friendly. The drinks are strong and I was impressed that the bartender knew how to make a proper apple martini (which should never contain sweet and sour mix). FYI it's cash only and they have an ATM just in case. read more

There is an ethereal quality that makes a truly great bar... great service, friendly staff and patrons, good beer, dark but clean... and b macs covers all of these and more. We popped in to watch football and couldn't have been happier walking into a great bar that wasn't cookie cutter. The owner knew her regulars and that we weren't...she came up and introduced herself and showed true southern hospitality. So some of the ownership and some of the employees of the Chart Room moved over here. They have a nice little courtyard area where it looks like they have a stage where they can have some live music. The bar is quite a large rectangular design which offers up plenty of seating. The clientele seemed to be of the older variety when I was in there and it seems like a good spot to escape the crazy tourists of Bourbon Street. read more

Was with two friends in search of a pre-dinner drink outside. After some wandering, we came across B Macs and saw that they had a courtyard, so decided to go see what the courtyard looked like. We went through the side door, found it to be a nice tranquil spot, and grabbed a table. Just as we were about to go in and get our drinks, a woman in a gold lamé suit (this was just before Halloween, but I don't think this was a costume) comes up to the table and gives one of us a very southern faux friendly: Baby, you skipped a step. You're supposed to go past the bar and get a drink and go out the back door. Etc Etc Etc Now, this was to be our first drink on the night, we were three women in our thirties, and dressed nicely for dinner, so it's not like we came in and looked like we were just going to pass out on the table. And while I am no expert on crowd control, I believe the first step to making sure people do not enter your courtyard from the side door is to close the ****ing door. Needless to say, we left and got drinks elsewhere rather than give this place our money. One of the most unfriendly bars I've ever been to. read more

We came here because I was in search of music and this bar...didn't have music. Womp. Oh well. They DID have All Day IPA, so I was pretty happy. You can sit at the bar or you can sit outside on the PATIO! Yeah, that's right, this place has a patio complete with a light up tree, tons of seating and a blow up pool. Did I get in the pool? NAH. But I did dig the patio and the vibe out there was fantastic. I just wish that it was a smidge cooler so that I can really hang out and soak up the atmosphere. We walked in and there he was..... We sat in the Courtyard and we enjoyed the music the crowd and the drinks...the bar was so close to Bourbon street...St. Louis & Bourbon . The owner the "B" in B Mac's was so nice and hospitable she opened this bar after the passing of her husband....he had to be a kind spirit because he was so nice. We came every day to start our night....we are so happy we found Will and B Mac's...order the Hurricane's from this place...they won't disappoint!! read more

My partner and I stopped in yesterday afternoon because we realized this was the site of the former, and Scary, Roundup bar. We were immediately impressed. We also loved the great drink prices. It's always refreshing to find a bar that understands we locals are here year round and we drink too! The courtyard in back is Fantastic! It is a nice large, yet intimate, space that has been furnished VERY nicely. We can't wait to go back at night and check out the lighting. From all indications, I'm sure it's going to be awesome. The courtyard is also going to be the PERFECT place smokers & vapers to hang when the ban goes into effect!! We had great conversations with both, the Manager and JR, our bartender. An outgoing, friendly bartender is a must! Both of them were very friendly and we really enjoyed the conversations with each. Bottom line? By the time we left we had decided this was going to be our new bar of choice. You should check it out. read more

I ducked in here a few times while on a brief vacation to New Orleans in January, 2015 -- shortly after they took over the place. It'll be one of the first places I go when I'm back in town, a week from now. Very friendly people, and they've a really good jukebox. The courtyard is lovely, and so are the drink prices.
