This is a part of The B.O.B. which has a bunch of different levels. The actual brewery area is in the basement. We came on a Friday in the late afternoon/early evening and the brewery area was not crowded at all, but there seemed to be a lot of people around on the other floors. We sat at the bar, and our bartender was very prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. He is the one who explained the Beer City Brewsader to me, and this is worth the stop. We didn't have anything to eat here, but you can order at the bar, and they will bring your food down from one of the restaurants upstairs. The food we saw others eat looked pretty good as well. I had a flight here and the best beers I had were the Peanut Butter Porter and Robert the Barrel. My fiance had the Peanut Butter Porter, and enjoyed it as well. Very good experience at this brewery. It is tough here, worth so many good options nearby, but this is definitely worth the stop. read more

I know that Bob is a local classic evening destination. The concept of the Bob tho is great for out of town travelers: food, beer, tailor-ish fun, all in one place, without needing to brace the cold in the winter. I was especially surprise with their prices when I went, but I think it was a special weekly promo. A group of 4 went into the establishment on Feb. 15 at 4:45. We seated ourselves and we're instructed to go to the bar to order our food and drink. We did that. The bar was busy, so of coarse were just standing there waiting for a bartender to have time to take our orders. I kept getting in the way of the staff while waiting, which was unpleasant for not only me, but the staff as well I assume. My husband and I ordered the nachos with brisket. There are no servers, but there are food runners. The girl brought the food and then left, we then were wanting plates and silver ware and napkins. I looked around the place for a bit and found plates, so I grabbed those. Finally i found the food runner and she gave me some silverware and napkins. But, when she dropped off the food it was in a big metal coffee can and dumped it out on a tray . There were one small 1.5 oz cup of guacamole , sour cream, and salsa. Keep in mind we ordered the small portion and it was massive. We then needed more salsa and it took quite a while to get extra salsa, as they were busy and there are no servers. Trying to get the bartender to notice me and her having time to place an order. The nachos were not good at all. They were the worst tasting we have ever had. I thinkb getting rid of the coffee can and just make them normal would be an improvement. But, that's my opinion, someone else might love the nachos. read more

I'll be honest, I hadn't really been that interested in stopping in to B.O.B.'s Brewery since it's in the Bob and there are so many other breweries I can visit with much more accessible parking. However, my boyfriend and I were downtown and we decided to stop in for our last stamp in our Brewsader passport. I'm glad we did! We ordered a flight with a black IPA, oatmeal stout, IPA, and a sour prickly pear beer (listed on the website as a sour Gose). They were all excellent! The stout was creamy and smooth, both IPAs were well-balanced and my favorite was the fruity and refreshing prickly pear beer. I ended up ordering a pint of the sour because I enjoyed it so much. Our server was great; she kept checking on us and asked which beers we liked. We didn't order any food, but the wings looked really good. They have popcorn and peanuts, which always makes me like a bar just a little bit more. The atmosphere was laid back and not too loud, which was great - it's nice to not have to shout when you're enjoying some beers. There are some lounge areas with a couple of couches as well as cornhole set up. I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the beers at B.O.B.'s Brewery! I'm going to make a point to go back again soon. read more

What a great place. There are 5 levels, from brewery, to restaurant, to comedy club, and an awesome swanky dance club. The drinks are pretty typical on each floor, the first 2 have good craft beer though. The food is good, but some of the staff are really rude. The club staff upstairs is apparently instructed to consistently throw people out, so be on your best behavior if you are there. read more

A decent place to go for a beer. My wife and I went this past winter and sat on one of the comfy couches while enjoying some craft beer. I liked the Crimson King and found it to have some great grain notes while not being overly hopped. The Spaceboy Stout was a solid, creamy oatmeal stout. Service is good, prices are fair, venue is comfortable. 'Nuff said. I do miss the Monkey Bar, but this place is A-OK. read more

A friend of my girlfriend's lives in Grand Rapids and recommended we come here because we're big fans of craft beer. We were in town for a weekend and I really wanted to do something "truly" local, so we decided to hit the BOB as it was down the street from our hotel. I was not expecting to find exceptional barbecue in Grand Rapids, yet that's exactly what this place dishes up. The BOB Brewery is on the first floor (or basement, more technically) of the BOB. I'm giving them 4 stars here because this place is in a basement without windows, and I couldn't see outside on a beautiful Michigan summer night. We arrived and they had a guy playing acoustic guitar. We were greeted right away and seated. It's pretty cool, they have popcorn and peanuts, each costs like $2 or something, but you can have as much as you want. We ordered a few beers and had some peanuts while we read the menu. I wasn't even hungry, but the waitress sold me on the combo BBQ platter- which is 3 meats, cole slaw, and texas toast. I chose brisket, pork, and chicken. My girlfriend did the brisket and hot links. When the food came I felt like I was in a pit restaurant in Texas. The BBQ here is, in a word, amazing. It's slow cooked over real wood smoke, and you can taste the perfection in every bite. I wasn't even hungry and I think I ate about 1/2 lb of meat... it was so incredibly delicious. My GF's food was outstanding too, and I was sad to have to leave all that extra food as we were staying in a hotel. Waitress we had was really cool and turned us on to some great beers. Really a must-try place if you love real barbecue. The beers were also outstanding. If they had any natural light coming into the place, I would have given them 5 stars. read more

I automatically give this place 5 stars because of the service! So in this big building, we take an elevator to the basement and as soon as you step off you are in the bar. It didn't look like they were open yet and we hadn't paid attention to the hours. I asked "Are you open?" the bartender replied "For you we are!". I wish I had remembered the bartenders name, but he and the owner were both very friendly. They both shared their beer knowledge with my boyfriend and even recommended a couple of other places to check out on our beer vacation. Their beer was also top notch. We had a couple of beer flights. The service was quick and the beer was good! The peanuts were stale as heck, but the fresh popcorn was great! It's pretty dark down there which gives it a neat vibe. We hopped off the Beer City Runner and just really weren't impressed with the beer. The service at the bar downstairs was quick and friendly but the beer was really meh. The best part of BOB's Brewery is the building it is located in. We were slightly confused when we got there; the BOB is the whole entire building, and BOB's Brewery is just one of the many venues located inside. BOB's Brewery is located in the basement of the building, and it's a very cool old building. The beers were OK, nothing to write home about especially with all the other options in Grand Rapids. They do have free popcorn though, they know the way to my heart with that one. read more

(7/9/16) Honestly, I just don't see it. I said I'd come back when the downstairs was open, and I regret it. I again arrived by bicycle, and there is no bike rack. This is a too-large establishment, and I jostled thru the club atmosphere, searching for a way to get a beer! I once more felt isolated, even in such a cavernous building. I ordered a Spooky Action Double-IPA. The Spooky Action was very hoppy. I tried the taco bar in the downstairs, it was just bad. I wouldn't say skip it, but if you have to prioritize, I'd put this place dead last. l won't give it another try. read more

I've only been here for the beer and it's surprisingly good. I don't expect a mainstream bar to have good self brewed beer, but they do.

I was a fan of the BOB whike in college and happily paid the cover to see the band/dj. This weekend after 8 years of living out of town we wanted to check out the brewery since we are huge craft beer people and home brewers. We went to multiple other GR breweries but had planned on eating and sampling at bobs brewery. When we went to the door there was a $5 cover. Which it's not like $5 is a big deal if it was for charity, entertainment, etc but not to walk into a building. This is pure silliness I am sure founders and multiple other breweries probably blow you out of the water and none of them charge a cover to walk into an old building. read more

Came in from out of town for a wedding. Paid 5 bucks to enter very low quality dive bar. Climbed upstairs to enter the "night club" on the top floor. They asked for another 10 bucks like it was something special. Reality check... this is grand rapids, Michigan, not Los Angeles. We really enjoyed eating here before going upstairs for the comedy show. Our waiter/bartender, Alex, was the best. Kudos to you my friend! A good variety of craft beers to choose from and Alex let us taste some samples before choosing. The food was very good too. The Mrs wants me to figure out how they make their wings so good. My brisket was very good. You know it's made right if you don't have to add BBQ sauce. Her ribs were a little dry, but had a real good flavor. If I lived near Grand Rapids, I'd stop by frequently.
