I've been to Louisiana twice now, and I've eaten at at least 10 different restaurants, and when I tell you B Sweet Bistro is hands down the BEST restaurant I've been to in Louisiana... I mean it.THE BEST. Everything we had was SO, SO, SO good. I genuinely have no notes. My friend and I went around the time they had just opened, so there was nobody else there when we arrived. The space is small, intimate, and super cute. It's very aesthetic and cutesy, and they even carried that vibe into the bathroom. And when I tell you that bathroom smelled like strawberry pound cake?! So fitting for a sweets-focused spot. We took an Uber there, and on the way we asked our Uber driver if he knew anything about B Sweet Bistro. He told us he was vegan, so he hadn't actually eaten there, but he said the fact that she had been in that same space for years spoke volumes about the business. If I remember correctly, she was celebrating five years around the time we went. And after eating there ourselves, I completely understood why she's been there so long. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. We also met Chef B herself. She came over to our table, told us about the menu, checked on us, and asked how we were enjoying everything. The customer service was great. No complaints whatsoever. And we ordered A LOT for two people. We split everything and got: * Seafood beignets * Banana Foster beignets * Sweet potato beignets * Catfish Mardi Gras * Gumbo And again... EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Seafood Beignets A MUST GET. You could actually taste everything that was in them. The seafood didn't get lost, and the whole thing was just so flavorful and delicious. I would absolutely order these again. Banana Foster Beignets These were probably my favorite of the sweet beignets. The sweet potato beignets were also really good, but I preferred the banana ones. Now, here's where we messed up. They told us that you could add ice cream to the Banana Foster beignets for an additional charge. We passed because we had already ordered SO much food. We were like, "We already have two sweets. We don't need ice cream." WRONG. Not because the beignets needed the ice cream, they were literally amazing without it. But after we ate them, we were sitting there thinking about how much better they could've been with ice cream. Basically, we could've taken a 10 to a 20 with ice cream. But you absolutely do NOT need the ice cream. They were delicious on their own. We just regretted not trying it because we knew it was an option. Sweet Potato Beignets Also delicious! I just personally preferred the Banana Foster ones, but both were really good. Catfish Mardi Gras This was probably the only little issue we had, and honestly, it wasn't even really an issue with the food itself. The menu said the Catfish Mardi Gras came with grits, and my friend and I are BIG grit people. So when we ordered it, we were expecting grits. When it came out, though, it came with rice. We were told that it normally comes with rice and that the grits were more of a newer thing. But since the menu said grits, we obviously thought we were getting grits. That being said... WE STILL TORE IT UP. The catfish was delicious. The rice was delicious. The entire dish was delicious. We would've preferred the grits because that's what we thought we were ordering, but we honestly didn't care enough to make a big deal about it because the food was THAT good. If you specifically want the grits, I would just confirm what side you're getting when you order. Gumbo DELICIOUS. This was the best gumbo I had in New Orleans. I absolutely tore it up. Everything about it was good. They also have prepared sweets and treats that you can come in and grab, and our food didn't take long to come out either. Honestly, I HAVE NO NOTES. The biggest thing I regret about this restaurant is that I didn't go back a second time before leaving New Orleans. Normally, when I'm visiting somewhere, I don't like going to the same restaurant over and over because there are so many places I want to try. But B Sweet Bistro is one of those places where I left thinking, "I really should've gone back." At this point, if I could DoorDash this food to Virginia right now, I WOULD. When I go back to New Orleans, B Sweet Bistro is my FIRST STOP. And honestly, I already know I'm probably going to end up there more than once on my next trip because that's how good this place was. I could genuinely eat here every day. And don't judge the lack of good food pictures. I was too busy enjoying my food to take better pics. My family dined at the restaurant on Sunday, August 10, and loved the brunch. I asked my daughter to order a Redfish Rampart and catfish with grits for my son. I didn't anticipate any issues when I picked up the food outside the restaurant. However, when I got home and prepared to eat, I was taken aback by how unappetizing my plate looked. It was watery, lacked flavor, and looked like a kid had fixed my plate. After being a loyal customer for years, I expressed my concerns. Visited this restaurant when I was in New Orleans. We were told this place had the best gumbo by someone who was local. It seemed like the owner was an African American woman who also was the cook, waitress, and cashier all in one. The place was full of pink color and they had a cash register with a glass display of sweets adjacent to it. There were big pictures of the owner all over the store front. We ordered the gumbo. I thought it was average. Nothing really special about this gumbo to be honest. I did like the use of crab in the dish but wish they didn't put a crab leg in there. The sweet potato stuff beignets were AMAZING. These beignets are a must get. They tasted fresh out the oven. I really liked how it had nuts on top of the beignets. I'm sharing this experience because what began as me genuinely trying to support a local Black woman-owned business escalated into an interaction I never expected. For clarity, any dialogue in quotation marks is based on my best recollection of a fast-moving situation and may not be word-for-word. I was walking with a friend when another friend stopped us outside and encouraged us to go in and try the gumbo. I initially declined, but then remembered I had actually been wanting to support this establishment for some time; their hours simply never aligned with my work schedule. So my friend and I went inside to purchase one gumbo. From the moment we entered, however, I felt like our presence was an inconvenience. The owner expressed frustration that the person outside kept sending customers in when she was ready to leave. I completely understood that frustration because I've worked in service environments myself. I even told her I did not need the gumbo and could return another time. The conversation about being ready to leave continued around us, and eventually I simply said, "You can cancel the gumbo, thank you." Comments were exchanged as I left, and I responded emotionally as well. I take responsibility for that. At that point, however, I still planned to leave and support the business another day. Unfortunately, things escalated outside. While the owner was confronting the person who had encouraged us to enter, I commented that I thought the entire situation could have been avoided by locking the door and changing the sign to closed once they stopped accepting customers. Her response, as I recall it, was essentially, "I don't have to lock my damn door." We then got into a verbal argument. Again, I absolutely acknowledge that I raised my voice and participated in that argument. I'm not writing this pretending I handled every moment perfectly. What happened next, however, crossed a line. A man came outside and initially seemed to be de-escalating the situation. He then turned toward me and, according to my best recollection, threatened to "beat my f--- ass," using a homophobic slur. When I angrily responded to his threat, he told me, again according to my recollection, that I "wouldn't even make it that far." I cannot say what he meant or claim he possessed a weapon because I did not see one. I can only say that given the context--immediately following a threat of physical violence--I personally perceived the statement as threatening. That was ultimately when I realized this had gone entirely too far and walked away. I entered this business intending to spend my money and support it. If they were closed, "I'm sorry, we're done serving for tonight" would have been enough. I would have happily left and returned another day. Instead, a potential customer walking into an unlocked establishment turned into a public argument and, from my perspective, a threat involving a homophobic slur. I regret allowing myself to become verbally engaged, and there were opportunities for everyone involved, including me, to de-escalate sooner. But being tired and ready to close does not justify making customers feel like a burden, and a disagreement certainly should never escalate into threats. I genuinely wanted to support this business, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I hope the owner reflects on how customers are received near closing time and, most importantly, how conflicts are handled around her establishment. I wish everyone involved well, but I cannot recommend this business based on the experience I personally had. read more

We ordered the fried fish and grits, shrimp and grits, the B Fruitylicious Waffle, and the seafood beignets. Every single bite was incredible! Now let me tell y'all about this B Fruitylicious Waffle... Baby!! It has a banana cream cheesecake, whipped cream, and Fruity Pebbles baked right into the waffle batter. I cleaned my plate so fast it looked like I never ordered it! The seafood beignets? Amazing. The fish and grits? Perfectly seasoned. The shrimp and grits? Rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I actually told the chef she was the devil because I literally could not stop eating. Everything was THAT good! Then... we made the mistake (or maybe the best decision ever) of ordering dessert. One of my go-to spots for fried fish plates and desserts! Everything I've tried here has been delicious. The gumbo, cornbread, fried wings, king cakes, and stuffed cakes are all made to perfection. In in town for essence festival and I needed something quick and not too heavy to put in my stomach before I headed to the convention center and so I stopped by B Sweet Bistro. I believe I hear someone mention it on Instagram as a spot with really good gumbo so I came to try it for myself. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the owner and she helped ring me up. The establishment is very cute and girly and they sell desserts and sweets along with beignets. They also had a brunch menu as well. Now I will say, it didn't seem that busy to me when I came in(about 11AM on a Friday) but it took almost 30 minutes for my food to come out and all I ordered was a small bowl of gumbo. I'm giving grace though because it's essence weekend. I asked one of the young men to check in my food and they upgraded me to a full bowl of gumbo for the wait. Left a local museum and this restaurant came highly recommended. Most things were unavailable on the menu as it was the end of the day and they were about to close. It was quiet and roomy. The owner was there taking orders and preparing for the next day. She was personable and joked with us the whole time. I ordered the crabmeat beignets. The gumbo had a well-balance of spice and featured a good portion of sausage and shrimp. The decor was cute, but the table was wobbly. Me and my friends stopped in here after a local recommended we try it out. One of the main focuses when we travel is usually food and it was some of the best food we ate on the entire trip. There weren't really any tourists here so I'm not sure how many people know about it but I tried a bite of all my friends food here too and everything was sooo good like I wish I'd gotten a chance to eat there one more time before we left. When Yelp reviews don't steer you wrong from many states away!! I saw this place on Instagram and the King Cakes are what initially caught my eye. They were colorful and looked delicious. When I looked at the menu, I also saw some dishes that I know I would not be able to get here and wanted to try. I am grateful to have had the time to travel to this spot before having to make it to the airport. Upon arrival, it was decorated for Mardi Gras. Although not a large space, there is a place for eating inside and there are dessert offerings for pick up and to take home. The menu presents so many options that catch your eye and pique your interests. I didn't have enough money to purchase everything. Lol The owner was there and cooked my order. She understood that I was flying and let me know that the food would be able to be packaged for placement in my checked luggage (I had Tupperware and ziploc bags in case of spillage). My order was the Red Fish Rampart. Absolutely delicious!! I have never even heard of Red Fish and I have no idea what it actually looks like, but it looked good fried and tasted good, as well. She provided rebating instructions and they were on point. The seasoning and spice were JUST RIGHT. I know it would have been even better if I had it freshly cooked and seated, there. I debated writing a review on this restaurant because it's really cute and the food was really good, but here goes. It was our last day in New Orleans on Monday 8/25/2025. We were the first ones in the restaurant and placed our order. There were two of us and We ordered the following : Deep fried catfish and grits $16.00 Bistro Big Breakfast $25.00 Sprite $4.00 My friend had water Total $45.00 To my surprise my credit card bill showed a charge of $67.37. The math doesn't add up. The cashier added everything very quickly and bypassed the option for a receipt. I didn't think anything of it until I saw my credit card charge. There is clearly some shadiness going on here and I would avoid. There is no reason to bypass a receipt option unless you are adding a tip on top of a tip. The website clearly says they add a tip for 4 or more. There were only two of us. I would avoid this restaurant as they clearly are taking advantage of tourists by adding to the bill. read more

I have been trying to come to this place during last couple of visits to New Orleans. I finally made it! This place was recommended by my best friend and she really enjoyed this place and told me I had to try the red fish. I have never had red fish so this was my first attempt and this fish was amazing. The pasta with the fish paired so well, it was absolutely divine. We also had the seafood beignet, which was so freaking flavorful and delicious. It's just really hard to describe the taste of the food, but it was to die for. We met the owner and she was so sweet. We were the first people in for the day so everything was made fresh. There was some nice R&B jams playing while we ate. Someone else had come in right after us and they order everything that we ordered because of how good we said it was and they enjoyed it just as much lol This was an excellent way to end our Super Bowl trip! read more
