My family dined at the restaurant on Sunday, August 10, and loved the brunch. I asked my daughter to order a Redfish Rampart and catfish with grits for my son. I didn't anticipate any issues when I picked up the food outside the restaurant. However, when I got home and prepared to eat, I was taken aback by how unappetizing my plate looked. It was watery, lacked flavor, and looked like a kid had fixed my plate. After being a loyal customer for years, I expressed my concerns. Visited this restaurant when I was in New Orleans. We were told this place had the best gumbo by someone who was local. It seemed like the owner was an African American woman who also was the cook, waitress, and cashier all in one. The place was full of pink color and they had a cash register with a glass display of sweets adjacent to it. There were big pictures of the owner all over the store front. We ordered the gumbo. I thought it was average. Nothing really special about this gumbo to be honest. I did like the use of crab in the dish but wish they didn't put a crab leg in there. The sweet potato stuff beignets were AMAZING. These beignets are a must get. They tasted fresh out the oven. I really liked how it had nuts on top of the beignets. While in New Orleans in celebration of our 21st wedding anniversary, my hubby and I, had a list of NOLA restaurants that we wanted to check out because they each were highly rated for their authentic food. One of my go-to spots for fried fish plates and desserts! Everything I've tried here has been delicious. The gumbo, cornbread, fried wings, king cakes, and stuffed cakes are all made to perfection. In in town for essence festival and I needed something quick and not too heavy to put in my stomach before I headed to the convention center and so I stopped by B Sweet Bistro. I believe I hear someone mention it on Instagram as a spot with really good gumbo so I came to try it for myself. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the owner and she helped ring me up. The establishment is very cute and girly and they sell desserts and sweets along with beignets. They also had a brunch menu as well. Now I will say, it didn't seem that busy to me when I came in(about 11AM on a Friday) but it took almost 30 minutes for my food to come out and all I ordered was a small bowl of gumbo. I'm giving grace though because it's essence weekend. I asked one of the young men to check in my food and they upgraded me to a full bowl of gumbo for the wait. They were full, rich and flavorful, lots of complex flavors that went well together and you could actually see and taste the seafood meat in it. I see what they tried to do with the decor, but it's very poorly executed. The food is basic, mediocre, and nothing special. I will say every server, every greeter, and everyone who came to the table was very pleasant and very professional. The staff could hold training for other establishments. The gumbo had a well-balance of spice and featured a good portion of sausage and shrimp. The decor was cute, but the table was wobbly. There are high tops by the front window and standard tables by the counter. Food is ordered at the counter. Since there was only one person taking care of the whole restaurant, service was slow and it took awhile between waiting in line, ordering at the counter, and receiving my food. I first learned of this spot when I visited for Mardi Gras and a conference in 2024. Absolutely loved my catfish po boy and king cake stick and the spinach/artichoke dip too. Fast forward to 2 weeks before Mardi Gras 2025 and I was back again with my husband. Baby (in my best New Orleans accent) that Philly cheesesteak stuffed beignet!!!!! At first I was disappointed I couldn't have my usual po boy but honey those stuffed beignets did not disappoint!!! Also ordered a king cake for home and some mini sweet potato pies. Me and my friends stopped in here after a local recommended we try it out. One of the main focuses when we travel is usually food and it was some of the best food we ate on the entire trip. I debated writing a review on this restaurant because it's really cute and the food was really good, but here goes. It was our last day in New Orleans on Monday 8/25/2025. We were the first ones in the restaurant and placed our order. There were two of us and We ordered the following : Deep fried catfish and grits $16.00 Bistro Big Breakfast $25.00 Sprite $4.00 My friend had water Total $45.00 To my surprise my credit card bill showed a charge of $67.37. The math doesn't add up. The cashier added everything very quickly and bypassed the option for a receipt. I didn't think anything of it until I saw my credit card charge. There is clearly some shadiness going on here and I would avoid. There is no reason to bypass a receipt option unless you are adding a tip on top of a tip. The website clearly says they add a tip for 4 or more. There were only two of us. I would avoid this restaurant as they clearly are taking advantage of tourists by adding to the bill. read more

This place was recommended by my best friend and she really enjoyed this place and told me I had to try the red fish. I have never had red fish so this was my first attempt and this fish was amazing. When Yelp reviews don't steer you wrong from many states away!! I saw this place on Instagram and the King Cakes are what initially caught my eye. They were colorful and looked delicious. When I looked at the menu, I also saw some dishes that I know I would not be able to get here and wanted to try. I am grateful to have had the time to travel to this spot before having to make it to the airport. Upon arrival, it was decorated for Mardi Gras. Although not a large space, there is a place for eating inside and there are dessert offerings for pick up and to take home. The menu presents so many options that catch your eye and pique your interests. I didn't have enough money to purchase everything. Lol The owner was there and cooked my order. She understood that I was flying and let me know that the food would be able to be packaged for placement in my checked luggage (I had Tupperware and ziploc bags in case of spillage). My order was the Red Fish Rampart. Absolutely delicious!! I have never even heard of Red Fish and I have no idea what it actually looks like, but it looked good fried and tasted good, as well. She provided rebating instructions and they were on point. The seasoning and spice were JUST RIGHT. I know it would have been even better if I had it freshly cooked and seated, there. The parking is horrible because you have to find street parking & hopefully it's a spot available. So it's a seat yourself type of place. Once you sit down, you look over the menu then go to the register to place your order..we ordered a Bistro Punch which was beyond sweet & a mimosa..that bistro mimosa was fire !! I ordered chicken & waffles..the waffles were beignet mix on a waffle iron..I'm going to keep it real! Not a huge fan! The chicken was good..them 704 wings sweet & spicy!! Yes lawd! I can get with them everyday!! That spinach dip I can get with that everyday also!! The grits were loose..the fish was fried hard which is a plus for me..would I go back, for the mimosa, wings & spinach dip..they don't have fountain drinks, it's a bottle and they give you a cup of ice..a tea was like $5 for the 20oz bottle..its a different concept with the restaurant but I'm not a fan of it, that's my opinion on the service. I ordered a side of catfish. It was seasoned well and crispy. We also ordered a side of seafood beignets. That was the best seafood beignets I've had in my life.
