Restaurant was out of half the menu. The only sides available were french fries. We ordered an assortment of cheese and the waiter said they were out of bread. Then the manager came over and said they did have bread. Waiter was not educated on menu.. Three of us went for lunch at the bar. The place has a nice sort of a rustic type atmosphere. Two of us had the soup special something like a tuscan bean kale. Good aroma and flavor but not a whole lot of greens or beans. All of us had burgers backed by three craft brews. I read somewhere their burgers were supposed be very good. Burger in my opinion was straight forward and fair to say it was decent enough but not all that. What really made us do a double take was the final tab. A very nice anniversary dinner. The mussels were incredible! With the bacon and mushroom accompaniments, it made the sauce great for dipping. Intentionally got the burger medium rare with nothing on it, so as to see how good the dry-aged meat really was. Perfectly cooked and needed nothing on it. Wow. I want so badly to love this place. The decor is spot on, the bartenders are awesome and the cocktail menu is outstanding. We've been three times, all have had some hiccups, but this weekend was the third strike. We arrived around 8:30 on a Friday, ordered our entrees and a pizza app to start. A few minutes later the server informs us that the salmon was sold out. While it was disappointing, it happens. As a result, we switch to the shrimp tacos. Not even 10 minutes later, all the food arrives, pizza and entrees at one time. Everything but the shrimp tacos. The server apologizes and informs us that the shrimp tacos are on the house. As far as the food goes, the polenta was ridiculously yummy. It's presentation, while appealing to the eye, makes the polenta cool quickly. It's a bit too shallow. The pork chop was excellent. The burger was average at best, my husband prefers the burger at both Char and Robinsons Ale House. Fries are perfect. The shrimp tacos were simply awful. They were oddly dry, almost as if an ingredient was missing. Being that they were on the house and arrived late, we didn't mention it to the server. Here's where I get frustrated... while eating, we count, not one, but 4 salmon entrees come from the kitchen. This I mention to the server, and she advises that they ordered before we did. I can say with certainty that at least one table sat after us. Now maybe they pre-ordered, is that even a thing?? But seems unlikely. Overall, the bill wasn't cheap and I personally felt like I had a couple spoonfuls of polenta and one awful taco. They brought over some glasses of complimentary port. Thoughtful, but only one of us drinks port and at that point we needed to get home to sitters. Perhaps they should have bought a few of our drinks, or maybe the pizza that no one really ate. And what's the deal with the salmon??? Miscommunication maybe? Oh well. If you're looking for a red bank restaurant with a bar, I suggest Pazzo or Char. Byo, go to Dish. read more

Was in the area and I'm so glad we decided to try this spot for dinner. We started with the tomato salad app, simple yet yummy (A tiny bit too salty thou) I ordered the Ribeye and so glad I listened to the waitress...I finally found a steak worth mentioning in NJ. That ribeye was tasty, tender and cooked just right! It came with a watercress salad and they accommodated adding more instead of the fries it comes with. The wife had the burger and that was tasty as well & the fries were very yumm, glad she got it with her burger. It was more than enough to share them To finish off we shared the goat cheese blueberry cheesecake and let me just say that I wish I ordered my own... and the passion fruit sorbet with it was just perfect addition. Finally got to try this place & it was great! Perfect atmosphere- hopping bar, nice high tops in front & cozier tables in back. Nice selection of draft beers, a well honed wine selection (1/2 bottles- yes!) and well crafted cocktails (had their special, a spin on the Pisco Sour with elderflower - frothy & delicious). We tried the mussels & prawns al forno to start--both were lick-your-plate-clean worthy. Hubby had the slow cooked pig (his eyes rolled back in his head so I'm guessing it was that good). I tried the Brussels pizza (prosciutto, Brussels sprouts, apples- unusual but so balanced together). Ended with a nice cappuccino & the black tie cake - very good. You can tell they know what they are doing in the kitchen - each dish was perfect & our waiter was efficient, friendly & helpful. B2 Bistro is a solid dinner option for anyone looking for a rustic farm-to-table experience. The best dish we got was the little neck clams in my opinion. I wish there were more clams in the dish itself but it was okay because the sauce that it came in was amazing. We fished the clams fast but having the option to dip the bread in the sauce was just as good. While on the subject, the bread was great too. It's all made in house and has a great flavor and texture to it. It comes with some homemade pickles, which were good, but just ask for some olive oil on the side and you'll be satisfied. Lastly we tried the mushroom pizza and ricotta. We definitely liked the mushroom better, as we expected the ricotta to be a little spicier. Overall the ricotta was too sweet and just didn't taste as great. The experience and ambiance we great and we would probably go back again to try some other dishes. read more

Our experience at B2 was mixed, and now having been there, I`m a bit surprised by so many 5 star reviews. The service was good. Atmosphere was nice, but so loud we could barely hear each other across the table. Loved the oysters. Having seen the menu online (and the positive reviews) I was really looking forward to the gnocchi. Unfortunately, I found it bland and tasteless. I asked for some extra cheese to try and make it palatable, but even that didn't save it. I LOVE octopus, so ordered that as my entree. I took two bites before I let my husband finish it (which meant he had to split his burger.) It had an odd, slippery texture, a smoky flavor I couldn't place, and was WAY too spicy. (Speaking of which, the small plate of veggies they give you with your bread and never explain are very, very hot peppers...you`ve been warned...unfortunately I was not.) The house made pickles on the burger were great, but otherwise it was a pretty average burger. I think I am mostly disappointed in being fooled by all the 5 star reviews here...sorry, but B2 was 3 stars at best. read more

Been here 6-7 times since they opened. Usually impressed. Tonight I was disappointed in my meal. I ordered the lobster roll. It wasn't good. Lobster has a delicious delicate flavor already. A lobster roll doesn't require a lot of enhancement. B2's was chunks of lobster mixed with all kinds of spices and creamy dressing. Totally overwhelmed the flavor of lobster. Not recommended. My wife and I went last night and expected a crowd but were able to get a high top in the bar area easily. The decor is trendy-hip with a clubby feel and the service was attentive. The food is excellent. I had the savory donuts and found it weird but good. An unexpected mixture of fried bread and gooey pâté. We also had oysters, a dozen to be precise and this set us back $48. So at 4 bucks a pop with no volume discount on offer it left us feeling taken advantage of. The server didn't tell us this either, so beware. A $150 meal for 2 for 3 drinks, oysters and 3 tapas is bit of a shocker. 5 stars for food, 2 for being over-priced. read more

My family and I came here on Fathers Day for brunch from the great reviews we read. We did arrive on the later end of Brunch however they were able to sit us in the dining area with no issues. Our main issue was with the service at B2 on this day. When we arrived our drink order was promptly taken, but after this it went down hill. First It took serval attempts to get our server's attention to request some hot water so that I can heat up my daughters bottle. After letting the hostess know hat we were ready to order it still took our server several minutes to come take the order. The server while polite did not ask if we have eaten there before or taken the time to go over any menu items. We also requested that my son's meal come out right away and we had to ask twice where was his meal as it is easier to feed him first so that we can enjoy our meal with no issues. We always request this everywhere we go and it's never an issue. Next it seemed our server was not completely familiar with the menu. As one of our guests ordered an item from the specials but it wasn't until the food came out that we found that was last nights specials and there are no specials for Brunch. The server first proceeded to state it was the same meal and correct. Another guest didn't get his entree at all, this might be because one of the items he ordered was no longer available. Last, after ordering all the meals took roughly an hour to come out. This felt like a long time especially since the restaurant was no longer busy. I would like the end that the management did what they could improve our experience there but after waiting an hour for all our meals we were disappointed. We just expected more after reading such wonderful reviews. read more

Not sure what's going on here. Have been coming here since they opened and always a huge fan.. other reviewers need to stop blowing smoke up the owners ass. The last 3 weeks things continue to get worse. 2.5 hours for a lunch service. Waiter was slow to respond, take an order, bring a dish, or retrieve a drink from the bar. Food quality seems to be falling off as well. Burger is not as good as it used to be and no one seems to be able to make anything but a medium well version of it even when ordered medium rare. Had the meatball parm no long rolls available so served on a hamburger bun. Wouldn't be that bad but sandwich had 1 meatball smashed into the bun. If u don't have long rolls available then give me a few sliders. No attempt to remedy or compensate for either meatball or burger debacle. Step it up B2 your reputation is suffering and your menu is to expensive to be so mediocre experience. read more

Wow! Everything was uniquely prepared and delicious beginning with the Pita with 3 different dips and ending with several spectacular desserts including Olive Oil Cake. Went there with my wife and son, we had just read the write up in our local paper. We didn't have a reservation and they were fully booked but they were very accommodating and were able to seat us after a relatively short wait. We started with chicken pate and duck prosciutto, watermelon salad and roasted prawns. Every dish was delicious, absolutely delicious. We wanted the burger but the were out so 2 of us had the brick chicken and 1 sweet pea pizza. Same result, absolutely delicious, best chicken dish any of us have had. Finished it off with olive oil cake, wonderful. The manager was terrific, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. We will definitely be back there soon. read more

It's a great place to kick back at the bar or have a romantic night. They also put cork on the walls, in the bar area, so if you went when they first opened, try it again. I have been to this restaurant a few times but I must say my experience this past Sunday was my favorite! I went in to sit at the bar and catch up with a friend but was delighted by the company of their outstanding bartender Michael as well. He kept us ladies laughing the whole time, made us try two extraordinary cocktails and recommended a few delectable small plates for us to share. The food is well balanced and innovative, their cheese and charcuterie being unparalleled for the price, and the atmosphere is laid back and comforting. We had a bad experience at our first and last try at B2 Bistro. 7:30 reservations for 6 people and were told it would be a few minutes when we arrived so we all ordered drinks at the bar. 10 minutes later we were told that our table which was a long communal high top for 8 people (and already had 2 people who would be sitting with us) was ready. Oh and it was 4ft behind the bar with a rugby team next to it cheering. We told the host that It was ridiculously loud and that we couldn't sit there His initial response was that we didn't request the dining room. We told him it was our first time there. It's a normal assumption to think 6 people for Dinner would be placed in the dining room and not in a loud bar. He then checked and came back to us with "the only possible table was a table who just received their entrees. No guarantee of how long they would be there. It was so loud and unpleasant to be standing there waiting so we said no thanks and left. No apology or offer to even buy us a drink for the inconvenience and wait- poorly managed! read more

Do not know what all of the good reviews are for. Friends maybe? It is now our third time here so I thought I wold see if things changed before writing this. Each time we have sat at the bar and had wine and full meals. Twice on a Saturday and once on a Thursday. The bar scene is completely disorganized. Especially if you are ordering food. There is no system in place as to who takes orders, how food gets delivered and who delivers it. Even ordering drinks is a chore. As to the food, if you are lucky and it comes out timely, the food runners walk up and down the bar from in back of you with food in hand and ask "is this yours". Sometimes they will visit 5 or 6 customers until they find the person that actually ordered what they are carrying. So they lean over your back and begin to put the plates in front of you until you say "no". This means someones food is being breathed on by others sitting at the bar and then the vast amount of people standing behind you at the bar. This occurs many times every night. Shouldn't the food be delivered to the bar staff who took the orders and who should know where it goes?. This is how it is done at other places that actually know what they are doing. This would also prevent your food from passing in front of 20 or more people in the tight quarters of the bar scene and having them breathe or sneeze or whatever on it. Each of the three times we were there we heard the exact same complaints from other patrons sitting next to us. As to getting a drink, that is a tough one too. You literally have to flag down one of the two bartenders (who also service the entire restaurant too) or you could sit with an empty glass for an hour. And then one of them has the rudeness to stick his finger up regularly and tell you "one minute". Which usually turns into 5 minutes or more. And then the final insult. The last two times our bill came with additional drinks figured in until I pointed out their "error". Seems a little suspicious to me. Especially since I noticed the size of their liquor and wine pours have shrunk dramatically. The food is decent but not great. I hear may complaints about the food and see a lot f plates brought back to the kitchen. I always like to give new places a fair shot. But three times is plenty to figure out a place is not good and not worthy of our business. Monmouth County is loaded with very good restaurants. This unfortunately is not one of them. read more

Great local spot on Shrewsberry Avenue, within walking distance from the train station. Nice open space with high ceilings, brick walls, great ambiance, laid-back vibe and free parking, which is a big plus in Red Bank. This is the second time we visit. The first time a group of us sat at the bar area and enjoyed a great beer and wine selection, appetizers and perfectly turned out pizza made in a wood burning oven. The food was, superb; every dish is made from scratch on the premises. We went back for dinner with a large group and ordered different items from the menu. Everything was delicious and the prices are very reasonable. For appetizers we had the mussels, prawn and watermelon salad, served with warm, crusty, freshly made bread. For dinner we had the Branzino, roast chicken, cioppino and porchetta (freshly roasted pork). It was hard to resist the home made ice cream and gelato, so we will have to wait for next time to try the rest of the dessert menu. We will definitely be going back! read more
