I struggle with leaving three or four stars here. I've been a couple times, and while aspects of the meal have been enjoyable - overall for the NYC prices you're paying in Red Bank, it's not THAT great. The first time I came, my gnocchi special was incredibly garlicky almost to the point where it was inedible. Service was a bit slow and inattentive. The second time, we came with friends and had a great experience at the bar while waiting for our table. We ordered a pizza to share, and it's probably one of the best pizzas you can order in Red Bank. The drinks (sangria) were delicious. Once we got seated, we quickly ordered appetizers and drinks. My friend and I each ordered the duck breast, one of the more expensive items on the menu. I am not a very picky person, but this duck breast was inedible. It was too undercooked so we both sent it back. When the duck breast came back, it was still impossible to eat. The restaurant did right by us and comped the two entrees off our bill. Service was as good as it gets - personable, helpful, friendly and just the right touch by Marissa who we would want to ask for next time! A glass of wine is served in a healthy portion ( just like at home). From appetizers ( had the Octopus) to the entrée ( Filet and The Pig) -delicious, wonderful presentation and more food than it initially appeared. B2 Bistro Red Bank- stopped in for a late Sunday lunch/early dinner. Atmosphere is cozy, bar is cool and the menu was unique. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We had octopus, a burger, pastina and rally fries. I would recommend all of it. Cocktails were served perfectly. You can buy a round of beers for the kitchen, too (which we did - this was unsolicited, but I would do it more often if I saw it on the menu). This has become my favorite restaurant in Red Bank. The food is always phenomenal with great specials to choose from each and every time. The menu varies to always keep it interesting and the picks from the chef are great. The beer menu! Oh, they do an incredible job with picking the kegs to throw on those taps! To cap it all off... they have their own parking lot. The private room is the absolute best space for private parties. One table all to yourselves where everyone can hear each other! Edit: While it had been a steady favorite, we had an absolutely horrendous evening the last time we were there on 10/13. We had terrible luck when we got our server and wound up with someone who just was impossible to get any attention from. It took somewhere around half an hour for just the drink order. Why not bring the bread over at the same time? Why ask only about appetizers and then walk away without seeing if we were ready to order? (We were. Probably could have when you took the drink order, even.) Questions about ingredients in food wound up being incorrect. Requests got missed. Turning around and trying to get his attention never worked. For the record, the rest of B2 was still great. The parts under the control of the kitchen and bar were still top notch, but anything the server was responsible for just fell apart. Came here back in the fall while we had a lull between a wedding and the reception. We were staying closer to the highway, this place was about 10 minutes away and the menu looked awesome. When we drove in, there is a really quaint little "downtown" area that looked like it had some history too it, but with a bit of a modern feel. Wish we had more time to explore! There's a little parking lot across from the Bistro, but it did seem a little hard to find. SOOO worth it! When we walked in, we were greeted by the really friendly staff. It has a modern industrial feel, but in the "warm" pub sense, not cold & unwelcoming. Personally I don't care about a restaurant's decor if they have great food, but this was definitely a place where I would love to come hang out if we weren't from out of town. There's 2 dining areas so to speak, the bar area (we sat at a high top here) and a dining area. Dining area seemed family friendly, but the bar area would definitely appeal to the young professional. I can't emphasize enough, the staff were so friendly from our waiter to the greeter & bar tender, also got a quick visit from the chef after the food was delivered. Now for the most important part, the food! We ordered off the dinner menu because it was too late for the lunch menu, and I was so glad we did. The menu changes periodically and while I don't remember exactly what we each had, I remember I had a burger which was out of this world good. Cooked perfectly with amazing flavor - make sure you ask the waiter about the meat that ground together in the burger, it was a delicious mix! And the trouffle fries.... wow talk about comfort food. But I think the real hi-light was the pizza - and I think everyone in our party was glad they ordered their own! We had a margherita, a ricotta, a mushroom, and I think another one that had a balsamic reduction sauce. All of them were absolutely unreal. I'm usually not one for artisan pizzas - to be honest I find they're usually lacking in both flavor and the ability to fill me up. Definitely not the case here, the flavors were so mouth watering, I really wish we could've stayed longer in Red Bank so that we could've come back. This was such a find, it really has it all - excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great selection of craft beers and cocktails. You won't be disappointed! read more

The Place was so loud the waiter had to yell. His service was excellent, but I think they some of our order got lost in the kitchen so they sent us some free salads to share. The menu was limited and food was marginal at best. The Cheese plates looked like cat food and tasted the same. This was my 4th visit for dinner. We ordered the special which was a pork chop. When our server told us the specials, she did not give the prices. We never dreamed it would be a $49 dollar pork chop. When I questioned this, was told that it was organic. I have bought organic pork at Whole Foods and 49 dollars for one pork chop even with preparation, is still outrageous! My husband later told me it was half fat. Ate here early on a Saturday evening before a rock concert nearby. B2 opened only a month or so ago, and you can tell---- in a positive way. Service was solicitous and friendly from the moment we walked in the door. Lots of wood and glass in side but bright and airy, not dark/publike. Cocktail list is creative but not to the point of being pretentious. The cocktails presaged a good meal. Bread hot and homebaked. Burrata to die for. Gnudi with truffle oil were another stand out. Crab Pizza for the table was also a hit (think small thin crust). For "large plates" 2 of us had the cioppino. generous portion of shellfish and some kind of white fish well cooked and spiced with toasted Italian brad and a garlic roux. Others in our party liked the sea bass as well. Our server brought out a chocolate mousse on the house-- it was my wife's birthday. It was very rich but light and airy. Oh and lest I forget. the beer and ale selection both in bottles and on tap, is great. I am not a beer snob, but the suggestion my waitperson made turned out to be a winner. This is a winner. B2 is an absolutely delicious, hidden gem in Red Bank! My husband and I came here on a Saturday night with two friends to check it out. We were immediately impressed by the decor as we walked to our table. Everything is dark wood which gives a homey, relaxed, yet rustically modern look. The hostess sat us in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. They have a really small but neat glass enclosed fire window on the wall that catches the eye and nicely adds to the ambience. Our waitress was really nice and greeted us immediately asking if we'd like water for the table. I drink a ton of water during dinner so this was a huge plus for me! I ordered a dirty martini to start, which was okay, while my husband and friend ordered the Lagunitas beer, which was very good! My friend's wife ordered Pinot noir and I switched to the Toscano for dinner- it was exactly what I wanted! For appetizers we started with the meat and cheese: pork, duck, and country pate with the cremont Vermont cheese and the Cacio di Bosco al Tartufo. All were excellent! For our meals we ordered the duck pizza, roasted pig, pumpkin risotto, and wild boar. We also ordered a side of the risotto to share. Everything was perfect! I sampled a little of each entree and loved it all. We pretty much cleared our plates but didn't feel grossly stuffed or greasy afterwards. I love that! Clearly they use clean ingredients and fresh food. The bill came to about $200 for the four of us which was a bit pricier than I expected but the quality of the food and service was well worth it. Finally Red Bank has a restaurant to talk about! I've generally lost hope for most existing and new openings on Broad Street (Though Phil Deffina's arrival at Char is a good thing) but thrilled that B2 has opened. Though they are located a few blocks 'off center' they are well worth the walk. We ate there on Wednesday night and ordered the warm potato salad, cauliflower, pumpkin risotto and a 'dough margarita' (Pizza). Menu is very original and easy to understand. They make many of their own cheeses and that same philosophy appears to permeate throughout the whole restaurant. Food and menu was original, delicious and well presented. We had cocktails at the Bar and staff showed knowledge and talent for mixing drinks and providing a professional experience. Fun! We didn't try their desserts (too full)... but apparently their pastry chef is formerly of Pascal & Sabine (great Bistro in Asbury) and created their popular milk chocolate pot de crème dish... We were in town for business and came across B2. Now I'm trying to find excuses to come back to Redbank just for this restaurant. Our waiter Joe was amazing. He was so enthusiastic about the food and described everything is incredible detail. He answered all of our wine and beer questions and was just great. At his recommendation we had the pork and an order of the house specialty; polenta. I'm not sure which was better! The polenta was perfect and was a significant portion (definitely enough for two). This new-to-Red Bank bistro looks great, inside and out! We were met with a smile by the hostess. The place was lively, with a sexy, upscale feel than most restaurants in the Red Bank area. Yet priced for everyone. Visibility of the Italian pizza oven from the bar and dining room, high top wooden tables, flatscreen TVs in the bar. The decor has both a modern yet rustic feel to it. And there is a separate room for private parties or business meetings. A great clientele was enjoying cuisine, from oven fired pizza, to unique appetizers and entrées to outstanding desserts, fine whiskeys and wines, and 16 Micro brews on draft. The burger was great, the polenta very tasty, the pizzas authentic, and the gelato, espresso and cappuccino as if in Italy. The service was attentive, and cordial. A lot of thought and restaurant experience went into the making of B2. Two blocks from the train station, its own parking lot, and so much easier access to most restaurants in town.
